In the first six weeks of his tenure, Trump suspended or in a few cases, revoked more than 90 regulations. In early 2017, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to slash two existing regulations for every new one . Trump ordered a four-month government-wide hiring freeze of the civilian work force at the start of his term. He said he did not intend to fill many of the governmental positions that were still vacant, as he considered them unnecessary there were nearly 2,000 vacant government positions.
The administration ended the requirement that nonprofits, including political advocacy groups who collect so-called dark money, disclose the names of large donors to the IRS the Senate voted to overturn the administration’s rule change.

Research suggests Trump’s rhetoric caused an increased incidence of hate crimes. During his 2016 campaign, he urged or praised physical attacks against protesters or reporters. Donald Trump has insisted he is writing the book of all books even though major figures in US publishing said on Tuesday that no big house is likely to touch a memoir by the 45th president because it might stoke a staff uprising and it would be too hard to get a book that was factually accurate.
When Trump left the White House in January, the Washington Post said he made 30,573 false or misleading claims while in power. The comments by publishing insiders were reported by Politico.
Former presidents traditionally turn to their memoirs when they leave office after two terms, like Barack Obama, or are kicked out of it after one, like Trump. Ever since the Guardian broke news of Michael Wolffs first White House tell-all, Fire and Fury, in January 2018, books about Trump and his presidency have proved a goldmine.
In a statement last week, Trump said he turned down two book deals, from the most unlikely of publishers, which he did not name. I do not want a deal right now, he said. Im writing like crazy anyway, however, and when the time comes, youll see the book of all books.
Book deals by other rightwingers have run into problems in relation to the deadly attack on the US Capitol on January 6th, in service of Trumps lie about electoral fraud and attempt to overturn his election defeat.

Select Committee Subpoenas Former Officials With Close Ties To The Former President
WashingtonChairman Bennie G. Thompson today announced that the Select Committee has issued subpoenas to ten former administration officials as part of its investigation into the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol and its causes. The committee is demanding records and testimony from witnesses including individuals who served as White House officials at the time of the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Chairman Thompson issued the following statement:
The Select Committee wants to learn every detail of what went on in the White House on January 6th and in the days beforehand. We need to know precisely what role the former President and his aides played in efforts to stop the counting of the electoral votes and if they were in touch with anyone outside the White House attempting to overturn the outcome of the election. We believe the witnesses subpoenaed today have relevant information and we expect them to comply fully with the Select Committees investigation as we work to get answers for the American people, make recommendations on changes to the law to protect our democracy, and help ensure that nothing like January 6th ever happens again.
The Select Committee issued subpoenas for records and testimony to the following individuals:
