Former President Donald Trump is slated to speak at next weeks Conservative Political Action Conference, according to two people familiar with the appearance.

Trump will be talking about the future of the Republican Party and the conservative movement, one of the people said. Also look for the 45th President to take on President Bidens disastrous amnesty and border policies.

The conference will take place Feb. 25-28 in Orlando, Fla. Trump is scheduled to speak Feb. 28.

Trump has been a CPAC regular since making his first appearance there in 2011, years before he became a presidential candidate. During Trump’s White House tenure, the conference was a four-day celebration of his administration, with appearances from Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence and other top advisers.

Since leaving office, Trump has given several TV interviews on friendly outlets and released public statements, but has yet to speak before an audience. It will be Trump’s first major address since the Senate impeachment trial that focused on his role in the Jan. 6 riot.

CPAC is overseen by longtime Republican strategist Matt Schlapp, whose wife, Mercedes, served as a Trump White House official.

This year’s sold-out CPAC, themed “America Uncanceled” a send up of “cancel culture” is a natural coming-out party for Trump’s post-presidency and a launching pad for his next political chapter as polls show that he remains overwhelmingly popular among Republican voters. Trump will address the group Sunday afternoon.

The colorful annual gathering of conservative grandees and gadflies has been remade, like so much else on the American right, in Trump’s gilded image, complete with a relocation from the Washington area to Florida.

The conference was one of the first places where Trump found purchase in the political world in the early 2010s, before it rejected him during the 2016 GOP presidential primaries, when the unorthodox former Democrat became a threat to more established conservatives.

But now, even as some Republican leaders fight a rear-guard effort to wrest control of the party from Trump, CPAC is unquestionably a MAGA stronghold.

The conference is run by a Trump loyalist lobbyist, Matt Schlapp, whose wife, Mercedes, was a senior official in the Trump White House. And the speakers list is a who’s who of allies, including Trump administration alumni, his son Donald Trump Jr., Dr. Ronny Jackson , pro-Trump members of Congress and media personalities, and potential presidential hopefuls who are looking to capture his loyal base of voters if he doesn’t run.

Matt Schlapp, the chair of the American Conservative Union, which organizes the event, announced Thursday that the former president will once again close out the gathering, this time in Texas.

Trump has a handful of public appearances lined up in the coming months. Hes set to address the North Carolina Republican Party at its annual state convention in Greenville on Saturday, followed by a series of rallies in states including Florida, Ohio and Georgia later in the summer.

The appearances are part of Trumps strategy to remain in the spotlight in his post-presidential life.

Since leaving the White House in January, the former president has sought to maintain his influence among Republicans, endorsing allies in various races and deriding Republicans and Democrats whom he considers political foes.

Former President Trump will headline North Carolinas GOP Convention next month in Greenville. The event will mark the former presidents first major speaking engagement since CPAC in February.

President Trump won North Carolina in 2016 by promising to put America First, and he won North Carolina in 2020 by keeping that promise, North Carolina GOP chair Michael Whatley told Fox News in a statement.

President Trump delivered real results for North Carolina by rebuilding the military, standing strong against China, and unleashing the American Economy, Whatley added.

Trumps first visit follows ongoing rumors that his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, will run for the vacant Senate seat in North Carolina.

The visit also hints that recent reports the former president will restart his famous rallies this summer. The popular events ended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The combination of events continues to fuel speculation regarding the presidents own future ambitions. Trump has long teased of running for president again in 2024. The topic will certainly come up during his upcoming trip to the Tar Heel State.

Trump has said previously he wont make a formal decision on whether or not to run in 2024 until after the 2022 mid-term elections. However, he may be opening the door for Lara Trumps senate run announcement. With Trumps full support and her high favorability in the state, she would likely stand as a top Republican primary contender.

Iowa National Democrats Criticize State Republicans For Supporting Trump After Jan 6 Riot

Iowa Democratic Party Chair Ross Wilburn criticized Iowa Republicans for supporting Trump after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in January.

“Iowa Republicans have tied themselves to a man who attacked the foundations of our democracy throughout his time in office,” Wilburn said in a statement. “Just nine months ago, he incited a violent mob to attack his own Vice President and threaten the lives of lawmakers who were simply fulfilling their constitutional duty to certify our election.”

A slew of Iowa’s top Republican leaders warmed up the crowd ahead of Trump, including Reynolds, Grassley and U.S. Reps. Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

Reynolds led the crowd in a chant of “U.S.A.” and criticized Biden on his immigration policies, mentioning that she visited the U.S.-Mexico border this week.

“I was just there this week,” she said. “You know whos never been there? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They dont care. They dont care whats happening at the border.”

Vice President Kamala Harris visited the U.S.-Mexico border in June.

Reynolds also mentioned Biden’s COVID-19 response, eliciting boos from the crowd.

“They dont respect you,” she said of Democrats. “They dont respect your faith, your values. They dont think youre capable of making your own decisions and they dont think you should. And this is what America looks like under democratic leadership but Im here to tell you were fighting back.”

PERRY, Ga. – Former President Donald Trump plans to speak this Saturday at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry.

As he sits under a shaded canopy, Florida resident Duane Schwingel patiently waits for former President Donald Trump to arrive in Perry, Georgia for yet another Save America Rally.

Its time when the local people get to realize the bigger issues that are out there and why its important that we have a strong leader at the home, said Schwingel.
