Why The Media Hates Trump

Trump Not The Liberal Media Is Dividing The Republican Party

People Outside A Trump Rally Told Us Why They Hate The Media (HBO)

Republicans blame the media for dividing Republicans, but the person fomenting the flames of conflict is former President Trump.

  • Anna Jacobs is a Doha-based researcher on US politics and foreign policy.

Last month, Donald Trumps former UN ambassador Nikki Haley argued in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal that the liberal media wants to stoke a nonstop Republican civil war. She wrote that The media playbook starts with the demand that everyone pick sides about Donald Trump either love or hate everything about him. The moment anyone on the right offers the slightest criticism of the 45th president, the media goes berserk.

Her op-ed came amid Republican criticism of her interview with Politico, where she argued that Trump went down a path he shouldnt have, and we shouldnt have followed him, and we shouldnt have listened to him. And we cant let that ever happen again.

Haley is considered a more moderate member of the Republican Party, a quality these days determined less by ideology and more by ones willingness to criticise Trump or to openly propagate conspiracy theories.

If you are following Trumps recent return to the political limelight, notably his first major public speech since President Bidens inauguration in January, it is not difficult to see that its not the liberal media stoking divisions among Republicans, its Trump himself.

Opiniona Guide For Frustrated Conservatives In The Age Of Trump

Conscious bias or not, such practices do not engender trust in the media amongst conservatives. They only reinforce the belief that the media seeks to defend their ideological allies on the left and persecute those on the right while claiming to be objective.

This idea that the media is made up of unselfconsciously liberal elites who don’t even recognize the biases they have against conservative policies and conservatives in general goes back decades, to when newsrooms were more or less homogenous in nearly every way. At first, conservatives fought back by founding their own magazines after Watergate and in the midst of the Reagan administration and liberals’ contempt for him, organizations like the Media Research Center began cataloguing the myriad examples of biased coverage, both large and small.

And there was a lot to catalogue, from opinion pages heavily weighted in favor of liberals to reportage and analysis that looks a lot more like the opinion of the writers than unbiased coverage.

Will Trump Run Again In 2024

Trump Hates This Photo Of Himself On CNNs Unprecedented ...

He left the conference audience hanging about whether he would be running for president in 2024, saying Who knows, I may even decide to beat them for a third time, to which the room responded with thundering applause. He will likely keep the possibility of running for president open for some time to maintain his political relevance and, quite simply, to make more money.

But Trump is facing a barrage of both civil and criminal lawsuits and investigations into his conduct surrounding his businesses, his challenge to the 2020 election results, and a host of other issues. Losing the election and transitioning from president to private citizen leaves him open to more lawsuits, not to mention prison time, that he was able to previously avoid thanks to some immunity privileges typically granted to US presidents. How these lawsuits pan out will help answer the questions surrounding any future presidential bid.

Whether he can stay relevant without his social media platforms and the presidential bully pulpit throughout the Biden term is also an open-ended question. His popularity is still unquestioned among most Republicans, but its only two months into Bidens first term. Plus Republicans are already thinking about other potential candidates, including Florida Governor DeSantis and even former Vice President Mike Pence.

Don’t Miss: Who’s Running Against President Trump

Why The Media Hates Trump

Jill Abramson, the veteran journalist who led the New York Times from 2011 to 2014, says the Times has a financial incentive to bash the president and that the imbalance is helping to erode its credibility. She goes on to say that the paper had become unmistakably anti-Trump. The anti-Trump media has turned into the opposition. They attack whatever decision the president makes. Look at the reactions by the news media when Trump simply suggested that Hydroxychloroquine has shown very encouraging early results.” CNN Trump peddles unsubstantiated hope in dark times, Washington Post Trump is giving people false hope of Corona cures. Its all snake oil, The New Yorker The meaning of Donald Trumps coronavirus quackery, The Boston Globe Trump is spreading misinformation about the virus- time to take away his microphone. To call these comments an overreaction is an understatement.

ONE REASON FOR THIS MEDIA HATRED OF TRUMP IS FINANCIAL. Former Executive Editor of the New York Times Jill Abramson acknowledges a Trump bump that saw digital subscriptions during his first six months in office jump by 600,000, to more than 2 million. Trump hating gets ratings. I recall late night TV host Stephen Colbert was about to lose his job because of poor ratings. When Trump became the Republican candidate in 2016 and Colbert decided to become a Trump basher, his ratings began to rise, and he got to keep his job. Colbert owes his livelihood to Donald Trump!

Letter To The Editor: I Finally Figured Out Why Democrats Hate Trump

I finally figured out why Democrats hate Trump

I kept wondering just why Democrats and liberal media hated President Donald Trump so much. Even before his inauguration, they wanted to impeach him. Then I realized that to them, he cheated to steal the election.

Look at all they did to get Hillary Clinton in office. She basically bought the Democratic National Committee because it was broke. She got them to give her all the super delegates and cheated Bernie Sanders out of the nomination. The media whitewashed her record and never reported anything negative about her. At one of the debates, Donna Brazile, the DNC chairwoman, gave Clinton the questions she would be asked so she could be ready.

Still, Trump won. So, he must have cheated, right? No, Trump believed in the people and the people believe in him. He won and America won.

For over three years, the Democratic House of Representatives has tried everything it can to get rid of Trump. The lies and half-truths have been numerous. To them, he is guilty they just need a reason.

Enough is enough. It is time to stop this bull and for all of Congress go to work for America. Trump will continue to succeed for America because he loves America, not the power.

Therein lays the difference between Trump and the Democrats. They love the power, not America.

America is the greatest nation on Earth lets keep it that way.

Trump Lost So Why Is The Media Still So Fixated On His Supporters

I was 10 years old when my family moved to eastern Washington, exchanging the grey skies and rolling fields near the Ohio River for the wheat fields and early snows of a city near the Spokane River. My father had taken a job as the minister of a Congregational church and in the summer of 1969, our family of six, including my infant brother and our beloved orange tabby cat, loaded into the 1967 turquoise blue Mercury sedan and drove west.

My images of the American west were drawn from books and movies. They did not prepare me for our move to a rural area with its mix of ramshackle houses and trailers next to tidy farms and suburban-aspirational ranch-style houses like ours. Our town consisted of a small farm and feed store, a post office, an elementary school and a diner. A billboard sponsored by the John Birch Society warned of the evils of communism.

Americans were grappling with civil rights, poverty and protest over the Vietnam War. In that public reckoning, whose voices were centered was critical to what could change. Just as important was how to cover those who refused progress, including police who beat and teargassed protestors, those who spat on children integrating public schools and government leaders who fanned the flames of hate.

I think of my childhood in the rural west when the media insists on our need to listen and give voice to disaffected white voices.

New Concerns Over American Democracy

Throughout his tenure, Donald Trump questioned the legitimacy of democratic institutions, from the free press to the federal judiciary and the electoral process itself. In surveys conducted between 2016 and 2019, more than half of Americans said Trump had little or no respect for the nations democratic institutions and traditions, though these views, too, split sharply along partisan lines.

The 2020 election brought concerns about democracy into much starker relief. Even before the election, Trump had cast doubt on the security of mail-in voting and refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power in the event that he lost. When he did lose, he refused to publicly concede defeat, his campaign and allies filed dozens of unsuccessful lawsuits to challenge the results and Trump personally pressured state government officials to retroactively tilt the outcome in his favor.

Most Americans placed at least some blame on Trump for the riot at the Capitol, including 52% who said he bore a lot of responsibility for it. Again, however, partisans views differed widely: 81% of Democrats said Trump bore a lot of responsibility, compared with just 18% of Republicans.

Biden Calls For Trump’s Impeachment President Quickly Tweets Response

In May 2018, the paper ran another blockbuster story about the FBIs Trump investigation, which was code-named Crossfire Hurricane. The Times reported that Only in mid-September, congressional investigators say, did reach the Crossfire Hurricane team. This is false. Justice Department official Bruce Ohr has testified under oath that he briefed a lot of people about the dossier and its political provenance not long after it was handed to him in late July. As of the writing of this book, the Times has never updated or corrected that piece.

The willingness to be spoon-fed is what drove so many big press bloopers. Were there a Collusion Press-Error Hall of Fame, CNN would be the first inductee. There was CNNs decision in 2017 to run a story, based on one unnamed source, claiming a presidential adviser, Anthony Scaramucci, was under investigation for his ties to a Russian investment fund. CNN had to retract the story, and three of its journalists resigned.

In December 2017, CNN announced a scoop for the ages. It claimed it had evidence that Donald Trump Jr. had been offered by advance access to hacked Democratic emails. MSNBC and CBS also claimed to have confirmed this evidence that the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks had been colluding. It later came out that the outlets had gotten the date on their evidence wrong. Donald Trump Jr. had been sent an email directing him to look at the WikiLeaks dump after WikiLeaks had made it public.
