Rachel Maddow: Donald Trump Apparently Thinks Hes Still President

The second coming of Donald Trump: Can he become president again? | 60 Minutes Australia

US President Donald Trump speaks following a section of the border wall in Alamo, Texas, on January … 12, 2021. – Trump on January 13, 2021, became the first US president to be impeached for a second time, when a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives voted to charge him with inciting last week’s attack on the US Capitol. One week before Trump is to leave office, a total of 232 lawmakers, including 10 Republicans who broke with the president, voted to impeach the defiant Republican leader for high crimes and misdemeanors on a single charge of “incitement of insurrection.”

On MSNBCs The Rachel Maddow Show Thursday, host Rachel Maddow raised an intriguing question: does Donald Trump think hes still the president? Maddow noted that Trumps lawyerspreparing to defend him in his second impeachment trial next week bend over backwards to describe him in this very specific way…the 45th President of the United States.

It is accurate to call him the 45th president, Maddow said. But its just as accurate to call him the former president. Apparently, though, that is something that can never be saidat least, not in front of him.

Maddow noted that Trumps spokesperson, in an interview with Newsmax, said I do not expect the 45th president to be in Washington next week, and recent letters released by Mr. Trumps spokespeople include the presidential seal and Mr. Trumps signature over the words President Donald J. Trump.

Distrust Cuts Both Ways

Trumps antipathy toward the career federal workforce may have been sealed on Inauguration Day, after a National Park Service employee retweeted Twitter messages comparing crowd sizes at the 2017 ceremony with those of the 2008 inauguration of President Obama. The effect, not favorable to Trump, prompted the new president to phone acting NPS Director Michael Reynolds to complain that his crowd size was underplayed.

One can see how this might have informed Trumps impression of a deep state. Just six weeks later, Trump accused President Obama of wiretapping his conversations at Trump Tower in New York.

More than half of federal employees had said the previous October they would vote for Hillary Clinton, according to a Government Executive/Government Business Council survey. Just 34 percent were for Trump.

Campaign donations from federal employees for the 2016 cycle skewed toward Democrats, in some agencies by a factor of 10-to-1, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. In recent months, the news media, which Trump often derides as fake, have published numerous essays and interviews with disgruntled federal employees, including one from a former State Department employee who accused Secretary Rex Tillerson of an inherent distrust of the State Department and career officers.

Trump And The Media Had Troubled Relationship

Trump was frequently parodied, especially by comedy and late-night television programs such as “Saturday Night Live.” In June 2017, comedian Kathy Griffin crossed the line of good taste when she held up what appeared to be a severed head of the president. Although her right to do so was unquestioned under the First Amendment, CNN ended its agreement with her to host its New Years Eve broadcast and several venues canceled her tour dates.

On July 25, 2018, White House officials Bill Shine and Sarah Sanders, barred CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, that days pool reporter for all the networks, from a presidential event in the Rose Garden. Collins had shouted a question and apparently offended Trump as he was meeting with the president of the European Commission. Other members of the press, including Fox News that was usually friendly to Trump, protested the action against the reporter, which some associated with dictatorial regimes.

In January 2020, President Trump praised Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for doing a good job on National Public Radio reporter Mary Louise Kelly after she reported that Pompeo shut down an interview with her. Pompeo had stopped the interview, then shouted and cursed at her, after she had asked about his support for State Department personnel. Pompeo subsequently removed another NPR reporter from a list of reporters allowed on his flight to Eastern Europe, an action that the State Department Correspondents Association condemned.

Relationship With The News Media

Early into his presidency, Trump developed a highly contentious relationship with the news media, repeatedly referring to them as the “fake news media” and “the enemy of the people.” As a candidate, Trump had refused press credentials for offending publications but said he would not do so if elected. Trump both privately and publicly mused about taking away critical reporters’ White House press credentials. At the same time, the Trump White House gave temporary press passes to far-right pro-Trump fringe outlets, such as InfoWars and The Gateway Pundit, which are known for publishing hoaxes and conspiracy theories.

On his first day in office, Trump falsely accused journalists of understating the size of the crowd at his inauguration and called the news media “among the most dishonest human beings on earth.” Trump’s claims were notably defended by Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who claimed the inauguration crowd had been the biggest in history, a claim disproven by photographs. Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway then defended Spicer when asked about the falsehood, saying it was an “alternative fact,” not a falsehood.

The Trump Justice Department obtained by court order the 2017 phone logs or email metadata of reporters from CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, and Politico as part of investigations into leaks of classified information.

Government Size And Regulations

The administration imposed far fewer financial penalties against banks and major companies accused of wrong-doing relative to the Obama administration.

In the first six weeks of his tenure, Trump suspended or in a few cases, revoked more than 90 regulations. In early 2017, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to slash two existing regulations for every new one . A September 2017 Bloomberg BNA review found that due to unclear wording in the order and the large proportion of regulations it exempts, the order had had little effect since it was signed. The Trump OMB released an analysis in February 2018 indicating the economic benefits of regulations significantly outweigh the economic costs. The administration ordered one-third of government advisory committees for federal agencies eliminated, except for committees that evaluate consumer product safety or committees that approve research grants.

Trump ordered a four-month government-wide hiring freeze of the civilian work force at the start of his term. He said he did not intend to fill many of the governmental positions that were still vacant, as he considered them unnecessary there were nearly 2,000 vacant government positions.

The administration ended the requirement that nonprofits, including political advocacy groups who collect so-called dark money, disclose the names of large donors to the IRS the Senate voted to overturn the administration’s rule change.

Presidency Of Donald Trump

This article is part of a series about

Donald Trump‘s tenure as the 45thpresident of the United States began with his inauguration on January 20, 2017, and ended on January 20, 2021. Trump, a Republican from New York City, took office following his Electoral College victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, in which he did not win a plurality of the popular vote. Trump made an unprecedented number of false or misleading statements during his campaign and presidency. His presidency ended with defeat in the 2020 presidential election to DemocratJoe Biden after one term in office. It was the first presidency since that of Herbert Hoover in 1932 in which a sitting president was defeated and his party lost its majorities in both chambers of Congress.

Robert Mueller‘s Special Counsel investigation concluded that Russia interfered to favor Trump’s candidacy and that while the prevailing evidence “did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government,” possible obstructions of justice occurred during the course of that investigation.

Trump attempted to pressure Ukraine to announce investigations into his political rival Joe Biden, triggering his first impeachment by the House of Representatives on December 18, 2019, but he was acquitted by the Senate on February 5, 2020.

Will Donald J Trump Be Americas Last President

An amazing thing happened in Israel recently. The hard right and the hard left aligned to kick Benjamin NetanYahoo to the curb. Similarly, the pro-corporate right and anti-corporate left came together in the United States to kick Donald J. Trump to the curb. When these aligned enemies realize they hate each other, they will open the door and let the dictators back in. Democracy is likely to be a casualty of a second Trump term.

There are only four possible outcomes for the 2022 U.S. midterm Congressional elections:

1. Democrats hold the House and the Senate.

2. Democrats hold the House but lose the Senate.

3. Democrats lose the House but hold the Senate

4. Democrats lose both the House and the Senate.

My thesis is that all four of these possible outcomes will lead to Donald J. Trump being elected President of the United States on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Barring Trump being in prison or incapacitated, he will be President of the United States again if he runs in 2024. The barr for incapacitation is set pretty high, given that Reagan, Biden and Trump were all deemed fit to be Commanders in Chief. If Trump becomes President of the U.S. again and I believe this is now likely well, you know what happens then. Ten years from now, the United States will no longer be one country.

1. Democrats hold the House and hold the Senate.

2. Democrats hold the House but lose the Senate.

3. Democrats lose the House but hold the Senate

Donald Trump an âincredibly powerful figureâ in Republican Party

After taking control of the Trump Organization, Trump continued to work in real-estate development but also expanded into other businesses. He purchased sports teams, published books, and served as the producer and host of a reality TV show called The Apprentice. He married his third wife and future first lady, model Melania Knauss, in 2005.

In 2000, Trump ran for president as a candidate on a third-party ticket, meaning as an alternative candidate to those from the two major political parties, the Republicans and Democrats. He dropped out early in the race, but considered running again in 2004 and 2012. In 2015, he announced he was again running for president, this time on a major-party ticket as a Republican nominee. He beat out 16 other candidates to become the partys official nominee in 2016.

Views Of Donald Trump Four Ways

Based on a New York Times/Siena College poll of 1,399 registered voters nationwide from Sept. 6 to 14, 2022. Questions regarding Mr. Trumps actions after the election and whether he has committed crimes were each asked of half the sample.

That level of Trump support has effectively been unchanged since the last Times/Siena poll, which was fielded in July amid televised hearings by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol. It was also fundamentally similar to levels of support Times/Siena polls and other surveys found in recent years.

The publics view of Mr. Trumps fight against the election results also remained largely unchanged, with 54 percent in the most recent survey saying his actions posed a threat to democracy and 38 percent saying he had just exercised his right to contest the election.

And roughly half of voters said they thought Mr. Trump had committed serious federal crimes, while 38 percent thought he had not. That was similar to the responses from July, when respondents were asked more specifically about Mr. Trumps actions in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Mr. Trump has signaled another run for president. In a hypothetical rematch in 2024 with President Biden, 45 percent said they would support Mr. Biden, while 42 percent said they would support Mr. Trump.

I dont know too much, he said. When the race starts getting closer, Ill start paying attention, but right now hes just at the forefront for me.

At The Liv Golf Invitational Tournament At Trumps Bedminster Nj Course The Seal Has Been Widely Visible According To The Washington Post And That Could Be A Violation Of Federal Law

Donald Trump played in pro-am event this week at his Bedminster, N.J., golf course, prior to the start of the formal LIV Golf Invitational tournament at the club. The Washington Post reported that the presidential seal was seen on multiple items at the event even though such use could be a violation of federal law.

Donald Trump may no longer be president, but he still likes to show the world the presidential seal an act that some are saying is a violation of federal law.

The Washington Post reported Friday that the former president was spotted using the presidential seal on multiple items during the LIV Golf tournament at his Bedminster, N.J., golf course. The story went on to note that the seal was plastered on towels, golf carts and other items when Trump played in the pro-am of the Saudi-sponsored tournament Thursday.

As the Post noted, It is against federal law to use the presidential and vice-presidential seals in ways that could convey the U.S. governments sponsorship or approval.

This isnt the first time Trumps use of the seal has come into question. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, took Trump to task over the issue in 2018.

Trumps office didnt immediately respond to a MarketWatch request for comment.

The U.S. presidential seal.

Trump has brushed off the concerns. I think LIV has been a great thing for Saudi Arabia, for the image of Saudi Arabia, he told the Wall Street Journal earlier this week.

Military Law Shows Trump Still President Veteran Explains In Detail

Still My President Donald Trump Women

Highly recommended.

.DEREK JOHNSON IS A veteran who had top-secret military clearance.

Everything youve witnessed in the last five years is the most monumental historical covert operation to date and Donald Trump is your President by law by order and by regulations of the military and the Constitution. The way its proven is by the National Guard who is activated outside of their state and outside of our country and the only activations of the National Guard came from President Trump.DEREK JOHNSON

MILITARY STING OP REVEALED BY VETERAN NOW WHAT?!

Now that veteran DEREK JOHNSON has come forward and revealed the sting operation the military have been working on for the past 2 years where does that leave us?

In light of the irrefutable evidence that the military refused to back Biden even giving him a funeral instead of swearing him into office how do we view Trump and team in this light? Because this shines a whole light over how the military has been operating using protocol, optics, symbols and sometimes clear signals indicating Biden is NOT YOUR PRESIDENT.

Where does that leave us? In some ways in an even tougher place than before to separate out the contradictions and fact that under the sting parameters Trump and team have had to act as if. he wasnt President and allow a great deal of bad and traitorous behavior r by the dark side.

We are waiting.
