In her book The Politics of Resentment, University of Wisconsin Professor Kathy Cramer examined the deep causes of white rage through a series of extensive interviews with hundreds of residents in small towns and rural areas in Wisconsin that are overwhelmingly populated by the white middle class.
For decades, they have felt that they have lost any control over decision-making in their lives – that they have been cheated economically, mocked and neglected
In the 2016 election, Wisconsin voted for Trump, which was the first time the state voted for a Republican nominee since Reagans sweeping victory in 1984. Cramer explains that as these voters expressed their fears, anxieties, and perceptions, they displayed a great sense of resentment towards the so-called elites and political establishment in Washington, in the big cities, and urban areas.
For decades they have felt that they have lost any control over decision-making in their lives and deciding their future, that they have been cheated economically, mocked and neglected. Or as Cramer puts it, these voters feel a lack of power, money, and respect”.
In 1992, white voters represented 88 percent of the electorate. But in 2016, that figure fell to 69 percent. This continuous decline created a perception that the majority is fast becoming a minority in its own country”.
Trump Prophet Jeremiah Johnson Ends Ministry Saying We Need To Humble Ourselves
Jeremiah Johnson, the self-described prophet who faced backlash from fellow evangelical Christians after publicly apologizing for prophesying that Donald Trump would be reelected president, is ending Jeremiah Johnson Ministries.
The announcement comes after much prayer and the clear direction of the Lord, Johnson said Monday on his Facebook page.
It also comes after his abrupt two-week hiatus in the middle of a YouTube series he titled I Was Wrong.
Johnson said during the series, which he described as a money loser, that apologizing wasnt enough.
I believe that it is a tremendous mistake to take the next four years to argue and debate and cause division and grow more prideful talking about how we think the election was taken from Donald Trump. I actually believe we need to take the next four years and humble ourselves, he said.
We need to recognize that God is up to something far greater in the prophetic, charismatic movement that I believe is beyond what many even recognize. We need to stop, we need to take a breather and we need to come back to a place where we can begin to dialogue about these issues rather than be so triggered.
A recent report by the New York Times noted that Johnson had built an audience on social media as one of the first evangelicals to take Trumps candidacy seriously in 2015.

Letter: Trump Is A False Prophet Not A Christian

To the editor Although rarely surprised by the depths to which so-called Christians have sunk in defending President Donald Trump, the , “Christians had no choice but to vote for Trump,” set a new low for conservative Christians.
As a Christian, I am offended by his hypocritical view that if you did not vote for Trump you are not a Christian. Rubbish! The illogical approach used to defend his vote should be an affront to any Christian, let alone those who didn’t support Trump. Christians had a choice, and many chose not to support Trump, whom, according to Horst, is a moral failure, exhibits erratic behavior and enriches himself at the expense of the American people.
Horst says Christians should vote for the least offensive candidate, many did, and that candidate was not Trump. While Horst claims to be appalled by Trump’s failures, he continues to support him “over any of the baby-killing, Christian haters in recent elections.” I don’t recall any candidates of either party fitting that description.
I don’t consider Trump to be a Christian or a demonstrable lover of Christians and their beliefs. A false prophet perhaps, but certainly not “the chosen one.”

Donald Trump, holed up in defeat in his Mar-a-Lago fortress, awards acolytes making the pilgrimage with beaming photo opportunities in gilded arty backgrounds, once theyve kissed his ass. He threatens critics with primarying and directs his cultists to donate to his private offertory . He appears fearsome, a lion in winter, sullenly confidant. It is easy to imagine him retaining his grip over his adopted party, shaping the Republican midterm primaries, sabotaging bipartisan cooperation, and receiving a second nomination in 2024.
But there are all those legal cases. Trump is being investigated for financial crimes, payment of illegal hush money, tax evasion, abuse of office, incitement to riot. He is going to be dogged by reports that show him an incompetent, failed, dishonest businessman whose most successful project was his 14-year stint on The Apprentice. It will become clear why all the major banks including Deutsche Bank have come to shun him. Sordid details of his relations with the women he tried to shut up will come out, or if repeated gain new attention. The threatening phone calls to Georgia demanding a vote recount will be replayed again and again. And the incitement to insurrection charge, supported as it is by so much empirical evidence, is going to damage his brand .

Dear Editor:
I wish to respond to the writer in the April 24 paper who urges us to respect Trump because God has made him a leader. Matthew 7:15-16 warns, Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will recognize them.
Trumps behavior and policies have included racial slurs, ripping apart families, mockery of the handicapped, attacking the press, praising cruel dictators, insulting allies, ignoring science, dismantling environmental protections, rewarding corruption, encouraging insurrection against his own policies and telling more than 18,000 falsehoods.
It is Trump who has given us an agenda of lies. What are the fruits of his presidency? Hate crimes spiked. Cruelty and child abuse in the name of national security. World respect lost. Leadership squandered. His contempt for compassion has cut assistance programs and in so doing made abortion more likely and life after birth more difficult.
My experience of Christianity is quite different from that writers. My parents and grandparents were missionaries who taught that God is love. They taught compassion instead of cruelty, knowledge instead of superstition, integrity instead of dishonesty and corruption, justice and equality instead of wealth and class. They worked with governments to change abhorrent social conditions.

How Could All The Prophets Be Wrong About Trump
Like millions of people in America and around the world, Jeremiah Johnson stayed up late on election night. From the TV screen in his living room, he watched as Donald Trumps winning margin waned and sat stunned in disbelief.
Many assumed the former president would win reelection Johnson was among the charismatic leaders in the US who had put Gods word behind it.
On the morning of November 4, as the country woke up to the news that Joe Biden was in the lead, Johnson sent out a prophetic warning to his mailing list, saying he and a chorus of mature and tested prophets were in agreement: Trump had won.
Either a lying spirit has filled the mouths of numerous trusted prophetic voices in America or Donald J. Trump really has won the Presidency and we are witnessing a diabolical and evil plan unfold to steal the Election, Johnson wrote to his followers. I believe with all my heart that the latter is true.
Today, Johnson cringes when he thinks back to that message.
Unlike those who continued to insist Trump won, by early 2021, Johnson had reversed course. Now he barely recognizes the person who wrote that email last yearand neither does his wife, staff, or close friends. Instead, he says, God graciously used the messy fallout over the failed Trump prophecies to begin a catalytic, dramatic shift in his life.

On Tuesday, the president of the United States accused Jews of disloyalty and stupidity, a congresswoman of anti-Semitism, Democrats of planning to abolish the Second Amendment, and a former employee of “gross incompetence.” He also suggested that Russia be readmitted into the G7 and cancelled a trip to Denmark because its prime minister wouldn’t let him buy Greenland.
The day will go down in history as to quote George Conway “Tuesday.”
The next morning, President Trump logged onto Twitter and attacked the prime minister of Denmark, attacked the chair of the Federal Reserve, attacked “The Fake News LameStream Media,” attacked “the politically correct Automobile Companies,” and thanked and quoted a guy comparing him to Jesus Christ. The guy is Wayne Allyn Root, a radio talk-show host and a self-described “Jew turned evangelical Christian.” Trump quoted Root as saying:
“Thank you to Wayne Allyn Root for the very nice words. “President Trump is the greatest President for Jews and for Israel in the history of the world, not just America, he is the best President for Israel in the history of the world…and the Jewish people in Israel love him….
Last year, Candace Owens tweeted: “I truly believe that @realDonaldTrump isn’t just the leader of the free world, but the savior of it as well.”

Charismatics Issue Prophetic Standards To Address False Trump Prophecies

CHARLOTTE After an embarrassing number of wrong prophecies and bungled predictions about the 2020 election, a group of charismatic Christian leaders have released a four-page statement of prophetic standards to help correct abuses in the movement.
The statement, released April 29 on the newly created propheticstandards.com, is the work of 85 Christian ministry heads, preachers, academics, denominational officials, authors, revivalists, evangelists and other participants in whats been called the prophetic movement, a subset of Pentecostal Christianity. Their signatures are attached.
The movement came into much disrepute in recent months after scores of prophets incorrectly prophesied that former President Donald Trump would win a second term, while failing to prophesy major events such as COVID-19 and the storming of the U.S. Capitol. A handful that later apologized for the false prophecies said they received thousands of angry emails, and in the case of North Carolina prophet Jeremiah Johnson, death threats.
We saw the imbalances coming and wanted to head them off, he said.
At the heart of the statement is a call for all whove made false prophecies to publicly apologize.
How Trump Won: The Rise Of Americas False Prophet
The election of Donald Trump has perplexed millions around the world as almost all of the polls had predicted a Hillary Clinton victory.
Since then, Clintons supporters have variously blamed her defeat on the decision by the FBI director James Comey, just 11 days before the election, to announce that he was reopening the investigation on her use of a private email server, or on the release by WikiLeaks of thousands of emails, reportedly hacked by the Russian government.
It is indeed unprecedented that a major party nominee could snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in all three presidential debates. Or win after his refusal to release his tax returns while paying no income taxes for decades, after alienating more voters and minority groups than any presidential candidate in history, or after spewing vitriolic abuse on Republican competitors and Democrat opponents alike.
Such a large number of Trump supporters indulged in the same behaviour during the campaign that many now fear this will translate into hate crimes and state repression, especially against immigrants, Muslims, and African-Americans. According to the most recent FBI report, hate crimes against American Muslims increased in 2015 by 67 percent, arguably a direct result of the Islamophobic rhetoric unleashed by Trumps campaign.
But there are, too, deep social, economic, and political causes for the rise of Trumpism that need to be explored to understand the outcome of this election.

They told their followers that God had told them that Trump would win. Trump lost. What else is left to say?
Kris Vallotton prophesied to all who would listen that God had told him Donald Trump would win re-election. As a senior associate minister at Californias 11,000-member Bethel Church, a swarm of eager believers received the pastors prophecy as Gods unshakeable will.
This is not about politics. Im so sorry if it feels that way. I know how it could. Everybody in the front row knows me. Its not about politics. If the Lord gave me this word about President Obama I would stand here and give it and I have done so before. This decree, the Lord is gonna step in sovereignly. Hes gonna bring it to a close. And its gonna be ugly but its gonna be the Lord, Vallotton said in November of 2019, as Trump faced his impeachment trial. And I believe the Lords gonna give him another term. I believe it because the Lord wants it. Cause the Lord wants it, he went on, explaining that I am commissioned by God to do this today. I had three dreams in one night.
In the Bible, theres a simple one-strike-and-youre-out test for sorting out the counterfeits: You may say to yourselves, How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord? If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken.
Yet the world is still spinning. And Robertson is still broadcasting.

Jeremiah Johnson, a 33-year-old self-described prophet, was one of the few evangelical Christians who took Donald J. Trumps political future seriously back in 2015.
This track record created a loyal audience of hundreds of thousands of people who follow him on social media and hang on his predictions about such topics as the coronavirus pandemic, the makeup of the Supreme Court, and the possibility of spiritual revival in America. And they took comfort ahead of the presidential election last fall when Mr. Johnson shared a prophetic dream of Mr. Trump stumbling while running the Boston Marathon, until two frail older women emerged from the crowd to help him over the finish line.
So when Joseph R. Biden Jr. was certified as the winner of the election, Mr. Johnson had to admit he had let his followers down.
I was wrong, I am deeply sorry, and I ask for your forgiveness, he wrote in a detailed letter he posted online. I would like to repent for inaccurately prophesying that Donald Trump would win a second term as the President of the United States.
In my lifetime 49 years as a follower of Jesus Ive never seen this level of interest in prophecy, said Michael Brown, an evangelical radio host and commentator, who believes in prophecy but has called for greater accountability when prophecies prove false. And its unfortunate, because its an embarrassment to the movement.

Linda Stetson: Wake Up Folks To The Lies Told By The False Prophet Trump
To the editor:
Has it occurred to anyone with a political leaning that our country’s in danger from a false prophet?
He’s lied, cheated, broke dozens of laws, cares not for his country, but only himself and power. He’s brainwashed his unfortunate followers who do not have a clue of the massive damage this false prophet can do.
Has it occurred to these folks how often he has sued to not expose his crimes, his cheating and his lies, the biggest being the election he lost but insists he won, even though judges have dismissed all his rantings?
Wake up folks. Donald Trump’s a huge thorn in our country’s side. The last thing, and the most dangerous is to get him anywhere near our government ever again.
Anyone who thinks cannot accept this poor excuse for a leader of our country. There are many more intelligent and qualified candidates to consider in our 2024 presidential election, from both parties.
I cannot believe anyone could want four more years of the drama, coercion and complete ineptness of the Trump White House! As the Bible says, “Beware Of False Prophets.”

Why were most of the prophets wrong when it came to predicting the outcome of the 2020 election? host Jan Markell, founder of Olive Tree Ministries, asked on her Understanding the Times Christian radio show on June 25. She followed that question with a lengthy series of pre-election recordings in which a variety of prominent evangelical preachers claimed that God had told them Trump would be reelected.
Trump will win. He will sit in that office for four more years, and God will have his way in this country, author and self-proclaimed prophet Kat Kerr stated in one of the clips Markell played. Several others followed, including one by evangelist Pat Robertson and another by Jeremiah Johnson .
They were convinced that they were right, and we should listen to them, Markell told listeners, They were all wrong, she added, laughing.
All it takes is a cheap website or a YouTube posting for charlatans to gain a global following. One Pinckneyville, Illinois, preacher who claims followers across North and South America posted a YouTube prophecy in May declaring that Trump would be reinstalled in the White House on July 4. It was, of course, nonsense.
Inspired words, indeed.
