Does Trump Have A College Degree

Mystery #: Did One Of His Wharton Professors Repeatedly Tell Friends And Associates That Donald Trump Was The Dumbest Goddamn Student I Ever Had

Biden’s in the lead, but does Trump have the electoral college advantage? Hill Reporter explains

Its rare for a professor to disparage the intelligence of a student, but according to attorney Frank DiPrima, who was close friends with professor William T. Kelley for 47 years, the prof made an exception for Donald Trump, at least in private. He must have told me that 100 times over the course of 30 years, says DiPrima, who has been practicing law since 1963 and has served as in-house counsel for entities including the Federal Trade Commission and Playboy Enterprises. I remember the inflection of his voice when he said it: Donald Trump was the dumbest goddamn student I ever had! He would say that came to Wharton thinking he already knew everything, that he was arrogant and he wasnt there to learn. Kelley, who passed away in 2011 at age 94, taught marketing at Wharton for 31 years, retiring in 1982.

As Trump admitted in The Art of the Deal, all he got out of Wharton was bragging rights: In my opinion, that degree doesnt prove very much, but a lot of people I do business with take it very seriously, and its considered very prestigious. So all things considered, Im glad I went to Wharton.

Mystery #: Did Michael Cohen Threaten To Sue Penn Back To The Stone Age If It Released Trumps Grades

Almost absolutely. In his televised testimony before the House Oversight & Reform Committee in February, Michael Cohen, who served as Trumps personal attorney and fixer from 2006 to 2018, said the following about his former boss:

When I say con man, Im talking about a man who declares himself brilliant but directed me to threaten his high school, his colleges, and the College Board to never release his grades or SAT scores. As I mentioned, Im giving the Committee today copies of a letter I sent at Mr. Trumps direction threatening these schools with civil and criminal actions if Mr. Trumps grades or SAT scores were ever disclosed without his permission. These are Exhibit 6. The irony wasnt lost on me at the time that Mr. Trump in 2011 had strongly criticized President Obama for not releasing his grades. As you can see in Exhibit 7, Mr. Trump declared Let him show his records after calling President Obama a terrible student.

P.S. Mr. Trump truly enjoyed his two years at Fordham and has great respect for the University.

There is another day that will live in infamy: On the morning of May 20th, 1968, a then-22-year-old Donald Trump robed, slender, handsome, with a slicked-back coif of thick golden-brown locks queued up with his classmates at the Civic Center for the University of Pennsylvanias 212th Commencement for the Conferring of Degrees.

Mystery #: What Is Known About Ivankas Penn Stint Beyond The Fact That After Two Years At Georgetown She Transferred To Wharton Where Unlike Her Father She Graduated Cum Laude In 2004

Like her dad, Ivanka has been the subject of a DP story wherein nobody from her graduating class seems to have gotten to know her. Back in April of 2017, the DP reached out to 600 graduates from the class of 2004 and came up with not that much. Most described her as polished, hardworking and nice. Roland Oliver told the DP: She came to the school, and did her part, and left.

What else? She lived in the Left Bank apartments, near 32nd and Walnut streets. Another 2004 Wharton graduate, Roman Galas, told the DP that he saw her at Smokes once, sitting across from me at the bar, sipping her drink peacefully and gracefully. She was occasionally spotted at White Dog Cafe and La Terrasse as well as in Rittenhouse Square.

A rumor made the rounds on campus that a breakup drove her from Georgetown to Penn midstream, but she denied it in a 2004 Philadelphia profile in which she described her life at Penn as hermetic and was characterized as more likely to binge-watch Law & Order than to trip the light fandango on the beer-sticky dance floors of the frat-party circuit. That job would be left to her half-sister, Tiffany.

The University Of Pennsylvania Campus In West Philadelphia

People connected to the University of Pennsylvania have long demanded a more serious response to the actions of 1968 Wharton alumnus President Donald Trump. With last weeks riot at the Capitol, the calls have grown more urgent.

Both Lehigh University and Wagner College last week rescinded honorary degrees they had previously given to Trump, and some alumni are calling for the Philly school to do the same. Though his Ivy League diploma was paid for with tuition earned, not bestowed like the others mentioned UPenns bylaws do allow for those to be revoked in some circumstances, Billy Penn has confirmed.

Throughout Trumps term, UPenn grads have called for investigations into his admittance, and students have asked the university to condemn his more incendiary statements and policies.

But the schools administration has maintained a light touch. Theres been no official denunciation of the president, and Wharton faculty have refused to review the credentials that got him into the university.

If UPenn were to take action, how would it work? Heres what the process looks like.

Mr Trumps Early Education At Kew

Through the years: President

Born in 1946 in Queens, New York, Donald Trump was the fourth of Frederick C. Trumps and Mary MacLeod Trumps five children. Donnie, as he was referred to in his formative years, was enrolled in the Kew-Forest School, where his father served on the governing board. Kew-Forest was established in 1918 as a private pre-kindergarten through grade 12 preparatory school serving the Queens communities of Kew Gardens and Forest Hills. Trump attended the school from kindergarten to seventh grade, but in 1959, was transferred to the New York Military Academy when his parents developed concerns about his behavior.

Although difficult to approximate the exact costs while Donald Trump was attending the school in the fifties, current tuitions at Kew-Forest currently range from $27,735 $35,195 for kindergarten to eighth grade a range that would indicate that Kew-Forest was outside the reach of families of moderate means. As a well-established real estate developer and multi-millionaire, Fred Trump could easily afford the expense.

The reason for Trumps move to a military boarding school isnt entirely clear, but it seems to be linked to behavioral tendencies.

Can The University Of Pennsylvania Revoke An Earned Degree

Yes. UPenn just refreshed its guidelines on rescinding degrees about a year and a half ago.

The university bylaws state that the university reserves the right to take back a degree if they find it has been obtained fraudulently, like if a student provided false information on their admission application. UPenn can also nullify your diploma if you plagiarized, cheated on a test, tampered with student records or engaged in any misconduct in a research project.

Presidential Campaign And 2011 Hints At Presidential Run

In 2000, Trump ran in the California and Michigan primaries for nomination as the Reform Party candidate for the 2000 United States presidential election but withdrew from the race in February 2000. A July 1999 poll matching him against likely Republican nominee George W. Bush and likely Democratic nominee Al Gore showed Trump with seven percent support.

In 2011, Trump speculated about running against President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, making his first speaking appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February 2011 and giving speeches in early primary states. In May 2011, he announced he would not run, and he endorsed Mitt Romney in February 2012. Trump’s presidential ambitions were generally not taken seriously at the time.

Questions Behind Trump University

In operation from 2005 to 2010, Trump University was founded by the presidential candidate as a for-profit education center that specialized in teaching the art of the deal to students looking to make their fortune through real estate investment. Although, Trump never attended classes at the institution bearing his name, we believe its relevant in a comprehensive discussion about Donald Trumps education background. Trump University, in spite of its name, was not an accredited university or college, and students did not receive diplomas degrees.

The business was incorporated in 2004, when co-founder Michael Sexton approached Trump and offered a flat fee for the use of his name. Trump declined, instead assuming a role as a co-founder. The Universitys claim was that it could teach students to be real estate investors. This came at a time of unprecedented price increases in U.S. real estate and many investors were making significant profits buying and selling property during the upward trend.

  • Donald Trump didnt personally attend seminars
  • Donald Trump claims to have handpicked the instructors, but didnt
  • Free seminars were recruiting sessions for expensive premium packages
  • Students experienced hard sell pressure tactics to enroll in more expensive programs
  • The curriculum didnt deliver the quality of education that was promised

‘classist And Disgusting: Aoc Rips Trump For Mocking Her College Degree

This Is How Far The Trumps Really Got In School

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threw the book at President Trump on Monday for making fun of her college degree while trying to woo blue-collar voters in Pennsylvania.

Trump took the cheap shot at the Democratic congresswoman during a campaign rally in rural Lititz as part of a rant against her advocacy for a carbon-free economy, telling his supporters sarcastically, She did go to college, right?

Ocasio-Cortez said it was ironic for Trump to suggest that people without college degrees are inferior.

Tiffany Trump Graduated From This Law School In 2020

Tiffany Trump attended the University of Pennsylvania, right in line with her father, older brother, and older sister. Interestingly, she attended with Naomi Biden, granddaughter of former vice president Joe Biden. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported both he and Donald Trump were present at the 2016 graduation.

After graduation, Tiffany opted for law school at what we can only assume is the lone acceptable alternative to Penn for a Trump child: Georgetown University. She graduated in May 2020 , and though she has not announced any specific plans to take the bar exam or work at a law firm, she did hint that she might be joining the family business during a 2016 ABC News interview. “Of course, I’m interested. … I’m applying to law school though so I like to bring a different kinda skill set to the company,” she said.

Donald Trump seemed delighted at the prospect of Tiffany getting herself a JD. He tweeted out, “Great student, great school. Just what I need is a lawyer in the family. Proud of you Tiff,” when he congratulated her on her graduation.

How Far The Trumps Got In School

Long before Donald Trump was elected to the nation’s highest office and took the White House by storm, he set a good example for his eldest children by obtaining a college education. Most of his children have followed in his footsteps by graduating from his alma mater, which is further proof that the Trumps are a family of scholastic overachievers, and they have their college degrees to back it up.

Having the Trump last name meant some of Donald’s children were well-known on their college campuses … but not always in a good way. His son, Donald Trump Jr., was an alleged party animal, and a former classmate of daughter Ivanka Trump described her as not being “all that super intelligent.” Wowzers. There are quite a few Trumps who have advanced through the higher education system, including Donald’s ex-wife, Ivana Trump. As for first lady Melania Trump? Well, her school history is murkier than Donald’s tax returns. Let’s discuss all this and more as we examine how far the Trumps got in school.

Fred Trump Sr Went To The Pratt Institute But Never Received A College Degree

The Trump family’s history in real estate dates back over 100 years, to Donald Trump’s grandfather Friedrich Trump running a bar, restaurant, and brothel in northern British Columbia during the Klondike gold rush. Freidrich returned to New York with his profits and began the city’s Trump real estate empire. His son, Fred, was first in line to take the business over.

According to an excerpt from the book Brooklyn: The Once and Future City , Fred was an aspiring builder from an early age. He took night school courses in drafting and building and took construction management classes at the Pratt Institute. Though he reportedly never received a formal degree, Fred Sr. cashed in quickly on the 1920s building boom in New York, building single family homes throughout Queens by the time the depression hit in 1929. During the depression, Fred invested in a supermarket in Jamaica, Queens, and then began buying up distressed assets in Brooklyn to expand his empire.

Reports Say That She Really Left University After A Year To Go Into Modeling

Melania Trump

Melania Trump and Donald Trump.

An unauthorized biography of Trump titled Melania Trump: The Inside Story claims that she worked with Donald Trumps advisers to show that Trump was not just a beautiful model, but intelligent as well, according to the Huffington Post. The book claimed that, in reality, Trump left school after a year to begin her modeling career.

Julia Ioffes GQ profile also reports that Trump left university after a year and went to Milan.

A New York Times profile also reports that Trump dropped out of the university. That same report also noted that Donald Trump had only visited Slovenia once.

The Trump Transition Team biography for Melania Trump appears to confirm that she left college early before earning her degree. She would pursue a degree at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, but paused her studies to advance her modeling career in Milan and Paris, before moving to New York in 1996, the site reads.

However, it doesnt say if Trump returned to college to complete her degree.

Questions About Trumps Education Come After Her Speech Mirrored A Portion Of Michelle Obamas 2008 Speech

The questions about Trumps education and her decision to delete her website come after her big speech at the Republican National Convention didnt go as planned. Instead, she was accused of plagiarizing portions of Michelle Obamas 2008 speech. At first, Trump insisted she wrote most of it herself.

However, two days after the speech was delivered, the Donald Trump campaign released a letter written by Meredith McIver, an in-house writer at the Trump Organization. She claimed that Trump read sections of Obamas speech over the phone and she wrote them into the speech without checking Obamas speeches.

McIver wrote that she gave the Trumps a resignation letter, but they refused to accept it. Mr. Trump told me that people make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences, McIver wrote.
