% Of Republicans View Trump As True Us President

WASHINGTON, May 24 – A majority of Republicans still believe Donald Trump won the 2020 U.S. presidential election and blame his loss to Joe Biden on illegal voting, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll.
The May 17-19 national poll found that 53% of Republicans believe Trump, their party’s nominee, is the true president now, compared to 3% of Democrats and 25% of all Americans.
About one-quarter of adults believe the Nov. 3 election was tainted by illegal voting, including 56% of Republicans, according to the poll. The figures were roughly the same in a poll that ran from Nov. 13-17 which found that 28% of all Americans and 59% of Republicans felt that way.
A Democrat, Biden won by more than seven million votes. Dozens of courts rejected Trumps challenges to the results, but Trump and his supporters have persisted in pushing baseless conspiracy theories on conservative news outlets.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that 61% of Republicans believe the election was “stolen” from Trump. Only about 29% of Republicans believe he should share some of the blame for his supporters’ Jan. 6 deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The US was the one who gave the world the term “banana republic”, meaning an unstable country where politics can be upended on whims or narrow considerations. Now the world’s banana republics have a new candidate member. The incumbent president, Donald Trump, has just declared himself the winner well before the counting process was completed, with postal and early voting still being added. Trump expects to lose here and is prompting it. He has said he is now going to the favorably loaded Supreme Court, obviously to give him a decision he wants. Elections have been stolen before in the USA, but not so blatantly. This will have a global fallout.
The US presidential election is possibly the most widely and closely watched electoral contest in the world. Like Americans, most of the world believes that the US President is the most powerful person in the world. A good part of that notion is attributable to the authority conferred by what is generally believed to be a free and fairly won mandate. But US presidential elections are not without controversy. It is widely believed the 1960 elections that saw John F Kennedy getting elected by a plurality of less that 100,000 votes was because Mayor Richard Daley, an old-fashioned Democratic party boss, with a wide network of friends in the labor unions and organized crime stole the election by ballot stuffing. A popular exhortation in Chicago those days was vote early and vote again and again!

They were worried about the spread of the delta variant and how COVID-19 continues to hurt the economy. They were wary of Democrats’ big spending plans on infrastructure and other programs, alarmed by the troubles they see along the Texas border, and were very disturbed by the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
“What happened in Afghanistan, to me, was the worst thing that’s happened since Saigon.” That reference to the 1975 U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam came from Paul, who lives in central Pennsylvania.
He didn’t buy Biden’s explanation that Trump set the exit in motion by committing to a withdrawal of troops in a deal with the Taliban last year.
“He didn’t have to stick to the timeframe Trump set up,” Paul asserted, “but he kept sticking to it and sticking to it, and a lot of people died and a lot of people were left behind. So I think that was squarely on him.”
Still, perhaps unlike the pandemic and the economy, Afghanistan may fade from the news over time and, as such, may not affect long-term impressions of Biden as much.
And on the coronavirus, the focus group participants all vaccinated mostly gave Biden solid marks. It’s clear he benefits from comparisons to his predecessor on that.

Grand Jury Convened In Criminal Investigation Of Trump
Only one president, Grover Cleveland, has ever lost a re-election bid and come back to reclaim the White House. In modern times, one-term presidents have worried more about rehabilitating their legacies by taking on nonpartisan causes Democrat Jimmy Carter by building housing for the poor and George H.W. Bush by raising money for disaster aid, for example than about trying to shape national elections. But Trump retains a hold on the Republican electorate that is hard to overstate, and he has no intention of relinquishing it.
“There’s a reason why they’re called ‘Trump voters,'” Miller said. “They either don’t normally vote or don’t normally vote for Republicans.”
Trump lost the popular vote by more than 7 million last year and the Electoral College by the same 306-232 result by which he had won four years earlier but he got more votes than any other Republican nominee in history. And it would have taken fewer than 44,000 votes, spread across swing states Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin, to reverse the outcome.
Republicans, including Trump allies, say it’s too early to know what he will do, or what the political landscape will look like, in four years. A busload of Republican hopefuls are taking similar strides to position themselves. They include former Vice President Mike Pence, who is speaking to New Hampshire Republicans on Thursday, an event that the Concord Monitor called the kickoff of the 2024 race.
That’s basically what Trump is doing.
Emboldened ‘unchanged’ Trump Looks To Re
The set of advisers around Trump now is a familiar mix of his top 2020 campaign aides and others who have moved in and out of his orbit over time. They include Miller, Susie Wiles, Bill Stepien, Justin Clark, Corey Lewandowski and Brad Parscale.
While his schedule isn’t set yet, according to Trump’s camp, his coming stops are likely to include efforts to help Ohio congressional candidate Max Miller, a former White House aide looking to win a primary against Rep. Anthony Gonzales, who voted to impeach Trump this year Jody Hice, who is trying to unseat fellow Republican Brad Raffensperger as Georgia secretary of state after Raffensperger defied Trump and validated the state’s electoral votes and Alabama Senate candidate Mo Brooks, according to Trump’s camp.
Trump’s ongoing influence with Republican voters helps explain why most GOP officeholders stick so closely to him. Republicans spared him a conviction in the Senate after the House impeached him for stoking the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, House GOP leaders have made it clear that they view his engagement as essential to their hopes of retaking the chamber, and Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was deposed as Republican Conference Chair this year over her repeated rebukes of Trump.
Those numbers suggest that Trump could be in a strong position to win a Republican primary but lose the general election in 3½ years. A former Trump campaign operative made that case while discussing Trump’s ambitions.

You might not know it from the way he spent months trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election, but Donald Trump actually hated being president. I loved my previous life. I had so many things going…this is more work than in my previous life, he told Reuters in 2017. I thought it would be easier. Yes, it was an extremely rude awakening for the reality TV show host to learn that being president was an actual job and a pretty difficult one at that. Necessarily, he made some changes to the gig to make it more palatable to himreportedly watching hours of TV a day, rolling up to the Oval Office at noon, not reading his intelligence briefingsbut when it came to the actual work of running the country, he was not a fan. What he did like about being POTUS was the power, and he especially loved holding rallies where his supporters would hang on his every incomprehensible word and aside like he was an authoritarian ruler. So naturally, hes bringing them back.
What can one expect from the trio of summer events? Certainly, there will be long, rambling claims about how he won the election and that the Democrats and fake-news media stole it from him. Obviously hell also undoubtedly blather on at length about the terrible job Biden is supposedly doing, like he did at some poor couples wedding in March:

A Donald Trump supporter says the former president is still traveling aboard Air Force One, which is false
Daily Show correspondent Jordan Klepper has interviewed many Donald Trump supporters, but one in Iowa reached new levels of delusionality.
At a 9 October rally for the former president in Des Moines, Mr Klepper talked to a white-bearded man who claimed Mr Trump was not only still president, but has been spending his time travelling the globe aboard Air Force One.
Mr Klepper began his interview by pointing out the large Q on the mans T-shirt, indicating his belief in the QAnon conspiracy theory.
Wasnt Qs whole thing that Trump would be reinstated as president? Mr Klepper asked.
Hes never left, the man replied. Theres no doubt in my mind 150,000 per cent.

As turmoil in Afghanistan reached a crescendo in August, Donald Trump began talking again with advisers about whether he should announce his 2024 campaign for president right away.
They responded by urging patience, according to three people familiar with the discussions, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity because theywere not authorized to speak publicly. An announcement would force a reshuffling of his newly formed fundraising apparatus,advisers argued, and could complicate his ability to appear on broadcast television without triggering equal time rules.
Some of his advisers were concerned that Democrats might use his announcement in their effortto frame the midterm elections around his candidacy, potentially boosting their own turnout and hampering his plans if Republicans fall shortnext year. Advisers also argued that he could be more effective electing like-minded Republicans next year if he was not an official candidate himself.
The biggest point we drove home was that he doesnt want to own the midterms if we dont win back the House or Senate, said one person familiar with the conversations.
The arguments won Trump over, for the time being at least. Instead of a presidential campaign announcement, Trump, 75, has settled on a strategy of winks and nods. As some in his party worry, he is acting like a candidate for public office, and making clear he intends to be one again, without actually declaring so himself.

Seven months after Election Day, former President Donald Trumps supporters are still auditing ballots in Arizonas largest county and may revive legislation that would make it easier for judges in Texas to overturn election results.
In Georgia, meanwhile, the Republican-controlled state legislature passed a bill allowing it to appoint a board that can replace election officials. Trump loyalists who falsely insist he won the 2020 election are running for top election offices in several swing states. And after a pro-Trump mob staged a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol to halt the certification of Democrat Joe Bidens election victory, Republicans banded together to block an independent investigation of the riot, shielding Trump from additional scrutiny of one of the darkest days of his administration.
To democracy advocates, Democrats and others, the persistence of the GOPs election denial shows how the Republican Party is increasingly open to bucking democratic norms, particularly the bipartisan respect traditionally afforded to election results even after a bitter campaign. Thats raising the prospect that if the GOP gains power in next years midterms, the party may take the extraordinary step of refusing to certify future elections.
But Levitsky and others warn there are several weak points in the U.S. system where a political party could simply refuse to allow its opponent to formally win a presidential election.

Its likely you havent met any of them, but apparently there is a small group of American citizens that actually believe the ludicrous conspiracy theory that Joe Biden is the legitimately elected President of the United States. The majority of cases seem to be in children who have been watching too much TikTok, though CNN overdose, COVID-related Stockholm Syndrome, and brain eating amoebae have also been speculated to cause the condition. The psychosis does seem to be getting rarer, but there were two more particularly sad cases recently diagnosed at a Kamala Harris homecoming event last week.
Of course, as with COVID, those of us with healthy brains and a firm grasp on reality have nothing to worry about. Donald Trump is still the president. We know this in the same way that the crowd knows changing the scoreboard after the conclusion of the ball game in no way affects what actually happened in the contest. In the real world, by the will of the actual citizens, Trump is the rightfully elected leader of the United States. No amount of censorship, no number of phony impeachments, and not even a military takeover and occupation of Washington DC can change that.
California School Removes Teacher For Telling Students Trump Is Still President
A California middle school teacher was removed from the classroom after a recording surfaced of her telling students that the government “has way too much power” and allegedly saying Donald Trump is still president.
“People need to wake up and see the government has way too much power right now,” the unidentified history teacher who worked for Anacapa Middle School in Ventura said on the recording, CBS LA reported.
Parent Sarah Silikula said her eighth grade son recorded the seven-minute incident on his phone on Oct. 18. She recounted that he got out of class with the teacher and was distraught over vaccines, and asked his parents if they knew Trump was “still president.”
“And he got in the car and he was very upset. He announced, Im never getting vaccinated. Im never getting anymore shots of any kind. Did you know Trumps still president?'”
Silikula immediately alerted school authorities, and an investigation was launched. The mother added that the political discussion in class left her son “damaged.”
“Hes damaged. Hes hurt. Hes scared. He doesnt trust his parents now. He thinks we lied to him,” Silikula said of her son.
