Why Is Trump So Bad

Nobody Knew There Would Be A Pandemic Or Epidemic Of This Proportion

Panel Debates: Why Is Trump So Bad At Attacking Joe Biden

Trump has repeatedly expressed his surprise at the scale of the coronavirus as it spread around the world and raced across the US.

I would view it as something that just surprised the whole world, he said in a press conference earlier this month. Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion.

In a separate briefing, Trump said: I just think this is something that you can never really think is going to happen.

There is evidence, however, that not only was the Trump administration warned about the potential of a pandemic and its dangers to Americans, it was given a plan on how to deal with it, which it promptly shelved.

During the Obama administration, the national security council drew up a 69-page playbook on fighting pandemics, Politico has reported. The document, crafted in the wake of the 2016 Ebola outbreak, contained advice on tracking the spread of a new virus, how to ensure testing was conducted effectively and the need to stockpile emergency resources.

The incoming Trump administration was briefed on the playbook but it was was thrown on to a shelf, according to an anonymous official quoted by Politico.

This wasnt the administrations only insight into the threat posed by a pandemic. In October, an internal federal government report warned how underprepared and underfunded the US would be in terms of tackling a virus without a cure.

Government Size And Regulations

The administration imposed far fewer financial penalties against banks and major companies accused of wrong-doing relative to the Obama administration.

In the first six weeks of his tenure, Trump suspended or in a few cases, revoked more than 90 regulations. In early 2017, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to slash two existing regulations for every new one . A September 2017 Bloomberg BNA review found that due to unclear wording in the order and the large proportion of regulations it exempts, the order had had little effect since it was signed. The Trump OMB released an analysis in February 2018 indicating the economic benefits of regulations significantly outweigh the economic costs. The administration ordered one-third of government advisory committees for federal agencies eliminated, except for committees that evaluate consumer product safety or committees that approve research grants.

Trump ordered a four-month government-wide hiring freeze of the civilian work force at the start of his term. He said he did not intend to fill many of the governmental positions that were still vacant, as he considered them unnecessary there were nearly 2,000 vacant government positions.

The administration ended the requirement that nonprofits, including political advocacy groups who collect so-called dark money, disclose the names of large donors to the IRS the Senate voted to overturn the administration’s rule change.

When He Tried To Stop Transgender Students Using School Bathrooms In Line With Their Gender

In February 2017, Trump decided to go after one of the most marginalised groups possible by removing protections for trans students which allowed them to use bathrooms corroborating with their gender identity.

The harm the policy could cause was so evident that even education secretary Betsy DeVos opposed the move because of the effect it would have on trans students.

Trump went ahead with it anyway.

The number and scale of Trump’s statements in public speeches, remarks, and tweets identified as false by scholars, fact-checkers, and commentators were characterized as unprecedented for an American president and even unprecedented in U.S. politics. The New Yorker called falsehoods a distinctive part of his political identity, and they have also been described by Republican political advisor Amanda Carpenter as a gaslighting tactic. His White House had dismissed the idea of objective truth and his campaign and presidency have been described as being “post-truth” and hyper-Orwellian. Trump’s rhetorical signature included disregarding data from federal institutions that was incompatible to his arguments quoting hearsay, anecdotal evidence, and questionable claims in partisan media denying reality and distracting when falsehoods were exposed.

Personality traits may provide insight as to why someone could be unwilling to accept defeat.

Narcissism is one such trait. There is evidence to suggest there are two main forms of narcissism: grandiose narcissism and vulnerable narcissism.

In this article, well focus on grandiose narcissism, as characteristics of this trait seem most relevant to subsequent denial of defeat.

People who show hallmarks of grandiose narcissism are likely to exhibit grandiosity, aggression, and dominance over others. According to researchers from Pennsylvania State University, publishing in the Journal of Personality Disorders, this type of narcissism is associated with:

Reasons Donald Trump Might Not Be All That Bad After All

The prospect of President Trump has struck fear into the hearts of people across the world – but he can’t be as bad as they think, can he?

Donald Trump has been elected as the next US President.

And for many, the bad news is that it wasn’t just a bad dream.

Having defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in the most controversial US election in history, the billionaire businessman will become Leader of the Free World.

It’s fair to say the prospect of President Trump has struck fear into the hearts of many people across the world, especially in Britain.

Who can blame them? His campaign was built on promises, including a 1,900-mile wall along to US-Mexico border to keep out illegal migrants.

Let’s not forget the tapes in which he’s heard bragging about groping and kissing women or accusations of casual racism and xenophobia.

But will he really be that bad?

Here are 10 reasons why you shouldn’t worry too much:

Failure: America’s Global Image Is In Shambles

America’s global image declined significantly under Trump, who repeatedly insulted key US allies while cozying up to dictators.

The former president’s tendency to push important allies away and isolate the US, including by pulling out of landmark international agreements like the Paris climate accord, had a palpable impact.

People across the world expressed negative views on Trump. Pew Research Center in January 2020 released a survey of 32 countries that showed a median of 64% said they do not have confidence in Trump to do the right thing in world affairs, and just 29% expressed confidence in the president.

Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic also left the US embarrassed on the world stage, and created a void in global leadership that China has rushed to fill.

Attacks On The Judicial System In Response To Terrorist Attacks

On Tuesday, October 31st, 2017, a terrorist attack in Manhattan led to eight deaths and several serious injuries. The suspect said he drew inspiration from ISIS. On November 1st, 2017, Donald Trump made the following statement in response, calling the courts a joke and a laughingstock. Trump also said he would certainly consider sending the suspect to the U.S. military prison in Guantánamo Bay. Trump stated:

“That was a horrible event, and we have to stop it, and we have to stop it cold. We also have to come up with punishment thats far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now. Theyll go through court for years. And at the end, theyll be who knows what happens.

We need quick justice and we need strong justice much quicker and much stronger than we have right now. Because what we have right now is a joke and its a laughingstock. And no wonder so much of this stuff takes place. And I think I can speak for plenty of other countries, too, that are in the same situation.”

Trump followed this statement with a Tweet:

I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!

Donald J. Trump

Trump then switched from advocating the suspect be sent to Guantánamo Bay, to advocating he receive the death penalty.

Potential Conflicts Of Interest

Trump’s presidency has been marked by significant public concern about conflict of interest stemming from his diverse business ventures. In the lead up to his inauguration, Trump promised to remove himself from the day-to-day operations of his businesses. Trump placed his sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. at the head of his businesses claiming they would not communicate with him regarding his interests. However, critics noted that this would not prevent him from having input into his businesses and knowing how to benefit himself, and Trump continued to receive quarterly updates on his businesses. As his presidency progressed, he failed to take steps or show interest in further distancing himself from his business interests resulting in numerous potential conflicts. Ethics experts found Trump’s plan to address conflicts of interest between his position as president and his private business interests to be entirely inadequate. Unlike every other president in the last 40 years, Trump did not put his business interests in a blind trust or equivalent arrangement “to cleanly sever himself from his business interests”. In January 2018, a year into his presidency, Trump owned stakes in hundreds of businesses.

S Of Trump Looking Absolutely Miserable To Cheer You Up On A Bad Day

If you’re a fan of Donald Trump, you’re not going to be a fan of this article.

Sorry I’m not sorry.

If you’re not a fan of Donald Trump, you’re probably going to love this article.

And you’re welcome.

Trump is a sexist, racist, xenophobic man with the temperament of a hungry toddler before nap time.

This is why there’s almost nothing more enjoyable than seeing him miserable, given he’s now spent over a year spreading hate and division across the country.

While it’s tempting to laugh at how ridiculous he is, Trump’s campaign is not a joke — it’s already had very real consequences.

But it is very satisfying to see him look like a little boy who just dropped his ice cream cone.

Not to mention, this has been one of the most enraging, unsettling and depressing election cycles in US history, and we all deserve a few laughs.

Here are 15 photos of Trump looking miserable to cheer you up on a bad day.

Redirecting Middle East Diplomacy

Donald Trump was far less interested in a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a struggle that has outlasted every postwar president and far more in a 22-state outcome, normalizing Israels relations with the Arab world, especially Persian Gulf countries. Building on ties between Israel and key gulf states that had been developing for two decades, and propelled by a common interest in restraining Irans regional ambitions, the Trump administration invested heavily in cultivating close personal relationships with leaders of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. It approved weapons sales to those nations, exerted maximum pressure on Tehran and served as a facilitator between gulf Arab nations and Israel.

The costs of such an approach were clear. The Israeli-Palestinian issue wasnt so much ignored as it was undermined by a Trump peace plan comically biased in favor of Israel, leaving it dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Trumps catering to Saudi Arabia allowed its reckless and ruthless crown prince to pursue a disastrous war in Yemen and repression at home with tacit American support. Washington also recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region in a questionable quid pro quo that helped spur Morocco to begin establishing diplomatic ties with Israel.

Why People Hate Trump

Trump on

Dear Marty,

I hope that you are well and that you get the chance to read what I have written below.

Firstly, Im a conservative at heart and agree with most of what you say and your work. However, I felt compelled to give you a genuine opinion of what people really think about Trump and why so many people, even conservatives like me, dislike him. In the beginning, i though that Trump would be good for the US, Im aligned with most of his ideas, he is positive, confident and appeared to be a good leader who wants the best for his country.

However, you have got to see it from the other side. He hasnt drained the swamp, just filled it with people who also reside in the same swamp, from goldman Sachs advisors to his own family. His main issue is that he likes the sound of his own voice too much, he voices his own opinions too much, hes egotistical, too flippant and needs to get off twitter. No president should be tweeting every opinion they have. He has a distinct inability to convey ideas and information factually, he comes across as a liar, he hates losing and he lacks humility. He reminds me of a school child that was bullied and then did good, and now he wants to tell every one about his great he is.

His tweeting and statements are sometimes off the wall. I fully understand why people look at him and dislike him.

As they say, sometimes you are better off with the devil you know.

Pick The Least Wrong Answer

Biden also faces a completely impossible task in front of him with Democrats like Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia hellbent on destroying any aid that could come his constituents’ way, as well as Republican Party elements who still refer to last year’s mob of domestic terrorists as “tourists.”

I was wrong:I assumed we could trust the government and each other during the pandemic.

I am not arguing to drop calls for student loan forgiveness, or paid leave, though. As a socialist Democrat, my policy priorities have not changed. Nevertheless, putting Biden into historical context, I’d like to remind progressives that while he might not be our favorite, he isn’t the worst. We just had that.

It’s an underwhelming argument, I admit. But it’s also a practical one that reminds me of the wisdom contained in many of my law school exam instructions, “All of the answers are wrong. Pick the least wrong answer.”

Sometimes that is the best you can hope for: the least wrong. And right now folks, that’s Joe Biden.

Walked Out Of A Medal Ceremony In The Oval Office

On 7th December, Trump hosted a special ceremony for Dan Gable, a wrester who was being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Nothing wrong there. Surely Trump couldn’t do anything scandalous here, right? Wrong. After saying a few further things about the election, Trump abruptly decided that he’d seen enough and walked out of the event leaving Gable looking completely baffled and confused, alone in front of the press.

‘a Surrender Of Global Leadership’

Laura Belmonte is a history professor and dean of the Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She is a foreign relations specialist and author of books on cultural diplomacy.

What’s Trump’s key legacy?

His attempt to surrender global leadership and replace it with a more inward-looking, fortress-like mentality. I don’t think it succeeded, but the question is how profound has the damage to America’s international reputation been – and that remains to be seen.

The moment I found jaw-dropping was the press conference he had with Vladimir Putin in 2018 in Helsinki, where he took Putin’s side over US intelligence in regard to Russian interference in the election.

I can’t think of another episode of a president siding full force with a non-democratic society adversary.

It’s also very emblematic of a larger assault on any number of multilateral institutions and treaties and frameworks that Trump has unleashed, like the withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, the withdrawal of the Iranian nuclear framework.

What else stands out to you?

Trump’s applauding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, really turning himself inside out to align the US with regimes that are the antithesis of values that the US says it wants to promote. That is something that I think was really quite distinctive.
