“Wall Street hates him because he is a class traitor,” said Greg Valliere, chief political strategist at Potomac Research Group. “He has bought into the populist rhetoric that Wall Street is greedy and makes too much money…He sounds more anti-Wall Street than Elizabeth Warren.”

The first time anyone on social media noted a crowd at a political rally chanting CNN sucks! was at a rally in Santa Monica, California, after the 7 June primary in that state.
It wasnt one of Donald Trumps rallies he was back in New York City, pledging that he would soon be unveiling new derogatory information about Hillary Clinton shortly after a planned meeting between members of his campaign and a Kremlin-linked attorney .
It was a rally for Senator Bernie Sanders, whose bid for the Democratic Party presidential nomination had been out of reach for some time but which the primaries that night officially made impossible. This was before WikiLeaks released documents stolen from the Democratic National Committee showing that CNN contributor Donna Brazile had leaked a question for a town hall event to the Clinton campaign.

In February 2005, Jordan resigned from CNN. The resignation came in response to controversy sparked after bloggers wrote that, at the recent World Economic Forum, Jordan had seemed to accuse the U.S. military of having purposely killed journalists. While Jordan acknowledged his remarks were not sufficiently clear, he denied that this was what he had meant to imply, saying that he had “great admiration and respect for the men and women of the U.S. armed forces”.

Steubenville High School Rape Case Coverage
Candy Crowley, Poppy Harlow and Paul Callan were criticized for being sympathetic towards the two convicted rapists in the Steubenville High School rape case and for placing very little focus on the victim on March 17, 2013. During the course of the delinquent verdict, Harlow stated that it was “Incredibly difficult, even for an outsider like me, to watch what happened as these two young men that had such promising futures, star football players, very good students, literally watched as they believed their lives fell apart…when that sentence came down, collapsed in the arms of his attorney… He said to him, ‘My life is over. No one is going to want me now.'” An online petition garnered over 200,000 signatures protesting the coverage and demanding an apology.
CNN also revealed the name of the 16-year-old victim on March 17 by broadcasting unedited footage of one of the convicted rapists’ post-conviction statements. This practice is against the Associated Press guidelines for coverage.

As part of that effort, in 1993, I traveled to Bucharest, Romania, to speak at a conference for nongovernmental organizations and other civil society groups. During one of the presentations, a trade union representative stood up and asked, “How do we make the press tell the truth?”
It struck me then that the question was naïve, if understandable. If you had lived in a society where all media were controlled by the Ceauescu dictatorship and published only authorized propaganda, much of it false, it made sense to think that the opposite should prevail in the newly independent Romania. A free press should tell the truth. But as Pontius Pilate asked, “What is truth< \/g> ?” Who decides what is true? And who should compel the press to “tell the truth”?

“The things Trump says are demonstrably false in a way thats abnormal for politicians,” says the Atlantics James Fallows, who wrote the book Why Americans Hate the Media. “When he says he got a letter from the NFL on the debates and then the NFL says, No, he didnt, it emboldens the media to treat him in a different way.”

Politicians are not fully truthful. Everyone knows that. But they make a basic effort at being, as Stephen Colbert put it, truthy. The statistics they cite are usually in the neighborhood of correct. The falsehoods they offer are crafted through the careful omission of fact rather than the inclusion of falsehood. They may say things journalists know are wrong climate change denial is a constant among Republican officeholders but they protect themselves by wrapping their arguments in well-constructed controversy or appealing to hand-selected experts.
This is part of how political reporting operates. Politicians are allowed to be wrong, but they cant lie. Trump just lies.

The Sullivan case arose during the civil rights movement, involving a Montgomery, Alabama, public safety commissioner named L.B. Sullivan, who sued the New York Times after it published a fundraising advertorial that described law enforcement actions designed to discourage protests by activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. and his followers. Sullivan claimed that the ad, which made several factually inaccurate allegations about the Montgomery police, had defamed him personally, even though he was not identified by name or title.
In other words, Sullivan claimed the publication was fake news. He sought and won $500,000 in damages, without being required under Alabama law to prove that his reputation was actually harmed. But in a decision by Justice William Brennan, the high court reversed, concluding that under the First and Fourteenth Amendments, public officials like Sullivan could prevail in a libel suit only if they were also able to show not only falsity,< \/g> but actual malice on the part of the publisher. This term of art is defined as knowledge that the statement was false,< \/g> or proof that the publisher acted with reckless disregard for the truth. A showing of hatred or ill will, known as common law malice, is not sufficient to meet that test.
Conflict With Venezuelan Government
On February 8, 2017, a joint CNN and CNN en Español investigation based on the information provided by a whistleblower exiled in Spain and subsequent investigations, reported that employees of the Venezuelan Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq has been selling passports and visas to persons from Middle Eastern countries with dubious backgrounds for profits, including to members of the Lebanese group Hezbollah. The Venezuelan immigration department, SAIME, confirmed the sold passports’ genuineness as each passport came with an assigned national identification number, although the names of these individuals were altered when checking against the national database. At least one individual’s place of birth was also changed from Iraq to Venezuela. The Venezuelan foreign minister, Delcy Rodriguez, denied the government’s involvement when questioned by the reporters during the Seventy-first session of the United Nations General Assembly, and accused the network of performing what she described as an “imperialistic media operation” against Venezuela for airing the year-long fraud investigation. On February 14, 2017, Venezuelan authorities banned CNN en Español from broadcasting two days after the Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro, ordered CNN to ” well away from here”.

CNN President Jeff Zucker has put President Donald Trumps attacks on his network down to three things.
In a new episode of David Axelrods The Axe Files podcast, Zucker claimed Trumps overwhelming contempt for CNN came from its current relevance in the political landscape and its 1980s rise to prominence in New York at the same time as that of Trump.
It also has to do with me, said Zucker, who explained how his previously strong friendship with Trump was likely a factor:
Weve had this long, 20-plus year relationship, that for a long time was quite strong. And, you know, Donald Trump did not understand, in the end, that just because we were friends didnt mean he wasnt going to be subjected to the proper scrutiny. He thought CNN should give him a pass because we were friends. He thought CNN should be like Fox News and just give him glowing coverage all the time.
Zucker noted that Trump should get the coverage that is appropriate and that he deserves but that he would not get anything just because were friends.
So I think that he does hold that against me and CNN, he added.
Don Lemon: Cnn Does Not Hate Trump Or Favor Democrats
Jim Acosta agrees: ‘We are defenders of the people’
CNN host Don Lemon on Tuesday attempted to bat down the notion that CNN has bias against President Donald Trump, adding they do not favor Democrats.
CNN’s White House correspondent Jim Acosta sat down with Lemon to discuss his new book, The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America, and the news network’s coverage of the Trump administration.
“For all those people who say, Oh the press, CNN, hates Trump and CNN loves the Democrats,’ I watched Manu Raju with Nancy Pelosi, who clearly did not want to answer Manu’s questions today even in her body language and you know what? He persisted and he asked her the tough questions anyway,” Lemon said.
“So of anyone, a Democrat or a Republican regardless of who it is: If you hold a position of power, we the journalists at CNN are going to question you about it regardless whether you like it or not,” Lemon continued
Acosta agreed with Lemon’s comments and claimed that just because CNN is “pro-truth” doesn’t mean they are “anti-Trump.” He went on to talk about the theme of his book and how the media is “not the enemy of the people.”
Lemon’s claim about CNN’s bias echoes his previous comments last week at the Financial Times Future of News event in New York City when he said the network isn’t “liberal.”

A CNN staffer admitted in a secretly recorded video that his network produced propaganda to oust former President Donald Trump during the 2020 presidential election and bragged about their success.
Charlie Chester, a technical Director at the cable network, was filmed during a series of fake Tinder dates as he explained how they got Trump out of office.
Look what we did, we got Trump out. I am 100 percent going to say it, and I 100 percent believe that if it wasnt for CNN, I dont know that Trump would have got voted out, Chester said, adding that he came to work at CNN because he wanted to be a part of that.
Our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, thats what it was.
Chester explained how they overdramatized Trump health issues by bringing in medical experts.
hand was shaking or whatever, I think. We brought in so many medical people to all tell a story that was all speculation that he was neurologically damaged, and he was losing it. Hes unfit to you know whatever. We were creating a story there that we didnt know anything about. I think thats propaganda, he said.
Asked by the sleuth if he and CNN were concerned with Joe Bidens health during the election, Chester said the network had that in mind.
Showing him jogging is obviously deflection of his age and theyre trying to make it like, Oh, Im healthy,’ Chester said.
