Trumps Approval Rating Holding Steady At 43 Percent With 55 Percent Disapproving
The same poll found that 35 percent of voters including 74 percent of Republicans but just 30 percent of independents and 3 percent of Democrats believe President-elect Joe Biden did not win the election legitimately.
Sixty-one percent of all voters but just 21 percent of Republicans say Biden did win legitimately.
While a record 10 House Republicans broke ranks to vote for Trumps impeachment last week, his approval rating among Republicans shows few signs that GOP voters are widely disillusioned with him.
Almost 9 in 10 Republicans 87 percent give Trump a thumbs-up, compared with 89 percent who said the same before the November election.
And even for the half of Republicans who say they prioritize the GOP in general over allegiance to Trump, his high approval remains unmoved by recent events.
Among Republicans who say their primary loyalty is to Trump over the party, 98 percent approve of his performance. For those who say they prioritize the party over the president, his approval still stands at 81 percent virtually unchanged from October.
In the NBC News survey, nearly a third of GOP voters surveyed 28 percent said Trumps words and actions related to the violence at the Capitol reinforced their vote for Trump.
Just 5 percent said they now regretted their support for him, and two-thirds 66 percent said their feelings had not changed.
An additional 9 percent say Trump is not as good as most.

This lack of crossover support for presidents in their first term in office points toward one of the most animating forces in American politics today: Increased disdain and hatred of ones political opponents, known as negative partisanship. As the chart below shows, opinions about the other party have become far more unfavorable since the late 1970s. In other words, its not that surprising that Americans are far less likely to approve of and more likely to intensely dislike presidents from the other party right from the moment they take office.
Such hostile sentiments reflect a world in which each major party increasingly believes the other poses a threat to the countrys well-being. Consider that in 2019, the Pew Research Center found that about three-fourths of Americans thought that Democrats and Republicans not only disagreed over plans and policies, but that they also couldnt agree on basic facts. This is certainly borne out in attitudes toward the economy: Democrats thought the economy was immediately doing worse once Trump took office, while Republicans immediately thought it was getting worse after Biden won the 2020 election. And in the lead-up to the 2020 contest, Pew also found that about 9 in 10 of both Biden and Trump supporters felt that the victory of the other partys presidential nominee would lead to lasting harm, a sign of how each side increasingly finds the other to be an unacceptable political alternative.

Biden More Trusted Than Putin And Xi Less Trusted Than Merkel
Publics express much more confidence in Biden than in Russian President Vladimir Putin or Chinese President Xi Jinping. Biden also fares well in comparison with French President Emmanuel Macron, but his ratings tend to trail those of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
A median of 77% have confidence in Merkel to do the right thing in world affairs. She receives somewhat higher ratings in the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, France, New Zealand and Australia than in her home country, though a large majority of Germans still express confidence in the chancellor. Of the 16 publics surveyed, Greece is the only one where fewer than half hold this view. Faith in Merkel has also increased since the summer of 2020 in six of the 12 countries where data is available for both years.
A median of 63% have confidence in Macron when it comes to his handling of world affairs. Roughly eight-in-ten or more hold this view in Greece and Sweden. As with Merkel, Macrons ratings in his home country are positive, but more subdued than in other publics 53% of people in France trust the French president to do what is right in international affairs.
Medians of only around one-in-five express confidence in Putin or Xi. Singapore and Greece are the only countries where more than half trust either president 55% in both Greece and Singapore say they have confidence in Putin, and 70% in Singapore say the same of Xi.

Polls Show Bidens Approval Rating Sliding To New Lows
The new president had spent his first half-year in the White House with high job ratings.

President Joe Bidens honeymoon with the American people is over.
As many Americans disapprove of Bidens job performance as approve, according to two new polls out Sunday a precipitous decline for the new president after he spent his first half-year in the White House with high job ratings.
Half of Americans, 50 percent, approve of the way Biden is handling his job as president in the CBS News poll but the same number, 50 percent, disapprove of Biden. In the NBC News poll, Bidens approval rating is 49 percent, compared to 48 percent disapproval.
Both polls show declines in views of Biden, whose presidency has been besieged by twin crises in recent weeks: a resurgence of the coronavirus domestically, and the rocky withdrawal of U.S. military personnel and other Americans from Afghanistan ahead of Bidens looming deadline. Bidens approval rating slid 8 points in the CBS poll since July, and its down 4 points since the last NBC News survey, in April.
But Bidens slide is troubling news for Democrats, who have only narrow majorities in Congress that are increasingly imperiled in next years midterm elections.

Trump Viewed Favorably By More In Iowa Gop Than Chuck Grassley
Trump has always been a polarizing figure in the state the percentage of all Iowans who viewed him favorably topped 50% only once before in polls dating to January 2018. That was in March 2020, just as the coronavirus pandemic began to surge in the U.S.
But he has maintained popularity among Iowa Republicans throughout his time in office, and the vast majority continue to view him favorably.
According to the Registers Iowa Poll, 91% of Iowa Republicans have a favorable view of him and just 7% view him unfavorably. Another 2% are not sure.
Those marks put Trump in league with Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds, who is viewed favorably by 90% of Iowa Republicans. And it surpasses Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, who is viewed favorably by 81% of Iowans.

I did not foresee the day when Donald Trump would be 10 points more popular with Iowa Republicans than the venerable Chuck Grassley, said pollster J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co.
That Republican goodwill contrasts with Democrats feelings for Trump, 99% of whom view him unfavorably. Just 1% view him favorably.
Independent Iowans are nearly evenly split, with 48% viewing him favorably and 49% viewing him unfavorably. Another 3% are unsure.

Facing heat from several quarters, US President Joe Bidens popularity has dipped spectacularly. Now, his approval ratings have taken a tumble as well. Reportedly, Bidens current approval ratings fare lower than what his infamous predecessor, Donald Trump, ever managed to achieve during his four tumultuous years in the office, where he was impeached twice.
The poll conducted by CNN shows that Bidens approval rating stood at 38 per cent while 62 per cent disapproved of his presidentship. On the economic front, Biden has an approval rating of only 30 per cent. The figures become grim when one notes that Trumps lowest economic approval rating was 41 per cent which came way back in 2018.
Moreover, ahead of the midterms, the swing states havent been kind to Biden either. His net approval ratings in Ohio , Arizona , Wisconsin and Pennsylvania paint a grim picture and suggest that the battle may be uphill.
Democrats starting to lose confidence
While the palpable public anger is understandable, it appears that Biden is also losing the confidence of his colleagues. Reportedly, the Presidents approval rating for the handling of the economy has dwindled from 71 per cent, earlier this year to 62 per cent amongst the Democrats in the recent survey.

Trump Gets His Best Rating Ever On Guns Its Still Bad
Trump has generally dragged his feet when it comes to gun control. You might expect that to hurt him, given that Americans are in favor of stricter gun laws. Indeed, his approval rating on gun policy in our latest poll is only 38%.
Yet that 38% is actually the highest its ever been. Its a statistically insignificantly higher than the 36% it was last month and 5 points higher than he was at the beginning of the year.
I find that notable because gun control and Trumps mostly inaction on it has been in the news a lot recently, after mass shootings in Texas and Ohio. Despite that, his approval rating on the issue isnt going down.
Moreover, gun policy is the only issue on which Trumps approval actually went up over the last month.
While I wouldnt put too much on this, I do think its notable. It suggests perhaps that gun control isnt the driver of public opinion perhaps some Democrats hope it is heading into 2020.
Democrats Get A Reminder: Their Base Is Not Very Liberal
The other big political story of this week happened about as far away from Washington, DC, as you can get in the contiguous United States. Progressive San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin got recalled on Tuesday night. At the same time, in the nonpartisan primary for Los Angeles mayor, progressive US Rep. Karen Bass was forced into a November runoff by businessman Rick Caruso.
Both results showed the potency of a tough-on-crime message, even in Democratic strongholds, as I discussed earlier this week.
But they also demonstrate that Democrats overall arent anywhere near as liberal as many progressives wish they were.
Take a look at a CNN/SSRS poll from earlier this year. Among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, 64% identified as moderate or conservative. Just 17% said they were very liberal, with the remainder indicating they were somewhat liberal.
Other polling isnt nearly as dramatic, though it makes the same point. Summer 2021 data from the Pew Research Center poll for instance showed that 15% of Democrats were very liberal, while 52% were either moderate , conservative or very conservative . The 2020 general election exit poll showed that just 42% of Biden voters were liberal, while 58% were moderate or conservative.
Its no wonder then that even in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, which Biden won by over 50 points, progressives are far from shoo-ins.

Trumps Favorability Rating Drops To New Low: Poll
Former President Trumps favorability rating has dropped to a new low after slowly trickling down over the past few months.
A new NBC News poll released Sunday found that 34 percent of registered voters said they have a positive view of Trump, while 54 percent say they have a negative view of him. Trumps favorability rating was at its lowest in April 2021, when his rating fell to 32 percent in the same NBC poll.
The former presidents favorability score is down slightly since last month, with the same 54 percent saying they have a negative view of Trump, but 36 percent saying they had a positive view of him.
While Trumps favorability score has trickled down, President Bidens score has gone up, though only slightly. This month, 45 percent said they approve of the president a 2-point increase since last month.
Contrarily, 52 percent of voters say they disapprove of Biden, which has gone down 3 percentage points since last month.
Pollsters also questioned voters about their views on the different investigations against Trump, specifically asking whether the various investigations should stop or continue. The poll found that 56 percent of voters believe the investigations should continue, while 41 percent say they should stop.
The NBC News poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters between Sept. 9-13, and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
Trump Approval Ratings Still Strong In Key Battleground States: Poll
Former President Trump remains overwhelmingly popular among Republican voters in key battleground states heading into the midterm election cycle, according to a new roundup of polls released Monday.
Nearly 4 in 5 Republican voters surveyed in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania rated Trump favorably, according to Morning Consult surveys conducted in March.
The former president had slightly higher favorability in Georgia and North Carolina than he did in Ohio and Pennsylvania .
Each of those states have important Senate races that Trump has waded into or where he is considering endorsing a GOP candidate.
Morning Consult surveyed at least 855 registered Republican voters in each state from March 1-20. The margin of error for each poll is about 3.7 percentage points.
The polls suggest that Trump-backed candidates in those states could greatly benefit from the former presidents support, even as some of his recent endorsements have fallen flat. But it remains to be seen to what extent approval of Trump will transfer to his picks.
Trumps popularity in the four states has remained virtually unchanged since he left office, Morning Consult found.
In North Carolina, Trump has endorsed Rep. Ted Budd for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Richard Burr , who is retiring. In Pennsylvania, Trump recently endorsed former television host Mehmet Oz to replace retiring Sen. Pat Toomey

Leaders Poll Well In A Crisis
Leaders are getting strong public support in this crisis its happening throughout the U.S., and in lots of other places.
Look at the results from one Fox News poll. It asked respondents to rank the performance of various figures in the U.S. Everyone got good marks and everyone else polled better than Trump.
Seventy-seven per cent approved of the job done by Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases local officials got 75 per cent state governments 74 per cent Vice-President Mike Pence 55 per cent and Trump 51 per cent.
The federal and provincial governments in Canada are getting high marks for their handling of the crisis, with approval ratings mainly in the 60s and, in the case of Quebec Premier François Legault, way higher. One survey showed 93 per cent support for Legaults performance.
Frances unpopular president, Emmanuel Macron, has gotten a bounce, with polls showing him gaining as much as 14 per cent during the crisis. Italys governing party is polling better, too.
Warning to all of them: this kind of mid-crisis polling can prove to be the political equivalent of a sugar high.
Take George H.W. Bush, who had an approval rating around 90 per cent after winning the first Gulf War in 1991 but lost re-election the following year. A soft economy quickly pulled his Gallup approval down as low as 29 per cent.
