Donald Trump Lists Palm Beach Mansion Beside Mar

Road closures in place this weekend around Mar-a-Lago ahead of President Trump’s visit

The former president, as the world knows, is now living at his beloved private club in Florida even though its bylaws clearly state that no member may stay more than seven consecutive days or exceed 21 days a year.

So if there were such restrictions in place, a question might be why he didnt live in the mansion he owns next door.

Well, not only does he love the opulence and amenities of Mar-a-Lago, he loves being fawned over by its members. He goes through his days and people tell him hes fantastic, hes great, hes unbelievable thats what he wants, Leamer told The Associated Press .

So now hes decided to list that neighbouring property .

Built in 1956, the two-storey, West Indies-style home has 10,455 square feet, 194 feet of beachfront, eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a sun room, a family room and a library. A wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooks the backyard pool and beach. Above, a second-floor terrace open to the ocean views shelters between two wings of the house. Taxes are listed at $226,667.

The elegant South Ocean Boulevard house has, in effect, been whitewashed every part of the exterior is white, including its roof tiles and the ever-so-slightly grey shutters. The buyer would have access to a full membership at the golf club.

Use As A Trump Residence

In September 2019, Mar-a-Lago became the primary residence for Donald and Melania Trump, who previously held primary residence in New York City. The legality of this has been disputed because, in 1993, Trump signed a “use agreement” with the Town of Palm Beach, Florida that changed Mar-a-Lago’s designation from a single-family residence to a private club and specified that guests, including Trump, could not stay there more than three non-consecutive weeks per year.

In December 2020, neighbors of Mar-a-Lago delivered a demand letter to the town of Palm Beach, stating that the town should notify Trump that he cannot use the estate as his residence. Trump argues that he can live at Mar-a-Lago permanently as a bona fide employee.

Trump To Watch The Big Game In Palm Beach

In an update to an earlier story, Palm Beach Daily News reported Monday evening that according to an advisory issued by the Federal Aviation Administration, President Donald Trump will likely be visiting Mar-a-Lago this weekend. Trump is expected to arrive Friday, Feb. 1 and depart Sunday, Feb. 3.

The VIP Movement Notification was issued by the Federal Aviation Administration on Monday. During the Presidents stay, there will be temporary flight restrictions in West Palm Beach and surrounding areas. The exact time of Air Force Ones arrive at Palm Beach International Airport remains unknown.

Trumps last visit to Palm Beach Island was Thanksgiving weekend, more than 60 days ago. As of Monday morning, it was still unclear whether the President would be visiting Mar-a-Lago for the Super Bowl, due to a lack of official word from the White House or Federal Aviation Administration.

As a result of the government shutdown, the President not only missed excellent golf weather in Palm Beach over the past two months, but did not attend his annual New Years Eve party where he was supposed to walk down the red carpet. This cancellation upset many party-goers who paid extra to ring in the New Year with the commander-in-chief.

Former President has been living at his Mar-a-Lago club since leaving office more than a week ago a possible violation of a 1993 agreement he made with the Town of Palm Beach that limits stays to seven consecutive days.

Town Manager Kirk Blouin said in an email Thursday that Palm Beach is examining its options and the matter might be discussed at the town council’s February meeting.

The South town last month received a letter from an attorney representing a Mar-a-Lago neighbor demanding it enforce the agreement’s residency clause something it rarely if ever did when Trump was president or before.

The unnamed neighbor believes Trump’s residency would decrease property values, according to Reginald Stambaugh’s letter. Stambaugh did not return a call or email Thursday asking whether he has received a response.

Trump and former first lady changed their residency from New York City to Mar-a-Lago in 2019. His newly founded Office of the Former President forwarded emailed questions Thursday to the Trump Organization, the family’s business entity, which did not respond.

Last month, it issued a statement saying, There is no document or agreement in place that prohibits President Trump from using Mar-A-Lago as his residence. Trump owns two other homes near Mar-a-Lago.

“He goes through his days and people tell him he’s fantastic, he’s great, he’s unbelievable that’s what he wants,” Leamer said.

President Trumps Weekend In Palm Beach

President Trump spent his weekend in Palm Beach golfing, watching the Super Bowl, and sending off an occasional tweet, as first reported by the Palm Beach Daily News.

The president and the first lady arrived at Mar-a-Lago on Friday night. They briefly greeted the clubs members and their guests and then had dinner at a special reserved table in Mar-a-Lagos main dining room.

On Saturday, Trump made his way to his Jupiter club, where the president golfed with Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, tweeting a photo with two legends. In a following tweet, he said that Woods played great and shot a 64. He also mentioned that Nicklaus putting is amazing, and said that Jack & Tiger really like each other.

Trump also used Twitter to weigh in on the political scandal involving Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam. Trump tweeted that Northams denial that he was one of the people in the yearbook photocoming one day after his public apology for appearing in the picturewas unforgivable.

Trump Remains The Center Of Attention

So much of the Republican Party’s future revolves around Trump and whether he will run again in 2024 and whether his campaigning for conservative allies in 2022 congressional and state elections will split the party.

The former president is even hosting one of the events at this weekend’s retreat, a Saturday night dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Other retreat activities will take place at the Four Seasons resort hotel, about four miles south of Mar-a-Lago.

Trump, who remains popular with Republican voters despite his election loss to President Joe Biden and the chaos that surrounded it, has repeatedly said it is too early to decide whether he will run again in 2024.

But Trump plans to get involved in the the 2022 races, targeting Republicans who supported impeaching him over the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol or otherwise opposed his efforts to overturn the election.

Trump’s endorsements of favored candidates in Republican primaries threaten to split the Republican Party. His 2022 activity also means it could be years before he announces what he will do in 2024, effectively freezing the Republican presidential race.

Still, some Republicans are doing the kinds of things future presidential candidates do, regardless of whether Trump has announced.

Trump To Give Keynote Speech At Gop Donor Retreat

Republican leaders and donors are descending on Palm Beach this weekend for a private donor retreat headlined by former President Trump. Despite Mr. Trump’s electoral loss, and his role in inspiring a deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol just three months ago, the former president remains a central figure in Republican politics, and the weekend’s events are emblematic of his continued hold on the party.

The Republican National Committee’s spring donor retreat, hosted at a hotel just a few miles from Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, features a roster of prominent GOP politicians, including several potential 2024 presidential contenders. As Mr. Trump himself mulls another presidential bid, other possible 2024 candidates may be in the awkward position of defending and promoting someone who could be their rival.

On Saturday, Mr. Trump will deliver a keynote speech for the event, which is expected to raise millions. Although the Republican Party has yet to cohere around a set of organizing principles after its loss of the White House and Senate in 2020, Mr. Trump remains a central figure in GOP politics. The former president also delivered an address at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February, where he was hailed as a returning hero. In that speech, Mr. Trump said his “journey” that began during his first presidential run is “far from being over.”

Palm Beach Town Attorney Says Trump Can Live At Mar

In a presentation at the council, John Marion, who represents Trump, argued that the former president meets the definition of a “bona fide” employee of the swanky club, and therefore can legally reside there.

“This guy, as he wanders the property, is like the mayor of Mar-a-Lago. He’s always present. … And he loves it there,” Marion said in his presentation to the Town Council, which met on Tuesday virtually.

According to Marion: “He oversees the property. He evaluates the performance of the employees he’s constantly doing that. He suggests improvements relating to the operation of the club. … He reviews the clubs financials. He attends events at the club and welcomes the people that are guests. He welcomes and thanks everybody that’s attending. He greets members and their guests as he sees them. He recommends the events to be held at the club. He suggests candidates for membership and signs the documentation relating to those members.”

Trump’s lawyer also assured members of the community that the extensive security measures that followed Trump when he was still in office will no longer be in effect. He said Secret Service staff would be limited to about 10 people and that streets would no longer be closed off to through traffic.

Trump, a long-time resident of New York, legally changed his residency to Florida in 2019 with the intention of living at Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House.

The Council has postponed all actions related to the matter until April.
