He added: From where I come from, I dont know how you get anything done. I dont know how you get anything done unless you start talking to one another again.

The eventual Democratic nominee would also have to appeal to young voters, who have been the most disaffected by Trumps presidency and Biden polls best among voters under the age of 35 with a 60 percent favorability. It also doesnt hurt that upon Bidens return to the social platform Instagram late last summer, he drew over one million followers and we all know social media is key to reaching young people in todays campaign atmosphere.

Whichever Democrat candidate becomes the nominee will also need to have a name recognition that matches that of Trump, and Biden can handily compete with that as the former vice president of the United States and a long time senator.

Biden: Trump Rhetoric Eating At The Fabric Of This Country

Rep. Ted Deutch , who got his start in politics as a college student volunteering on Bidens 1988 presidential campaign, described getting one of those calls.

It was Vice President Biden just calling to tell me he was watching and he saw me on CNN, I was strong, and I should keep it up, Deutch said. This is clearly a guy whos paying close attention to whats going on and wants to be a part of it.

Bidens PAC, American Possibilities, launched in May. It has raised money only through emails, but the group expects to have between $500,000 and $1 million in its coffers by the end of this year. It will begin doling out more of that money in 2018. So far this year, Alabama Senate candidate Doug Jones, governor and lieutenant governor candidates in Virginia and New Jersey, and six state statehouse candidates have received donations from the group.

Among Obama alumni, theres deep skepticism that Biden will go through with a run. And while Obama and Biden have seen each other somewhat regularly since leaving office in January, they have not had any in-depth conversations about 2020,sources close to both men say.

While some big money Democrats have been wary about pegging the future of the party with a former two-term vice president, some former Clinton donors have reached out with interest, as have former Obama donors.

Biden spokesman Bill Russo declined to comment.

Trump Biden Americans Appear To Want To Choose None Of The Above In 2024

A New York Times/Siena College poll released Monday put a finer point on what a number of earlier polls have been hinting at: Americans appear to be saying the last thing they want is a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Thats despite the fact that a rematch appears to be the most probable scenario.

Various reporting on Trumps world suggests that the former president could launch a third presidential campaign as early as this month. If he does, that might trigger Biden to run, believing he is the only politician in America who can beat Trump, having done it before.

Should that happen many Americans may be dissatisfied, if the Times/Siena poll is correct. The nationwide poll found that only 33 percent of Americans approved of Bidens performance in his job. His approval ratings were low in every category and on essentially every topic, but especially the economy.

When you average recent polls, Biden is now the least popular president in modern American history. Even Jimmy Carter was doing better during the same week of his presidency.

The poll found a large proportion of Democrats are ready to dump Biden and find another person to run. Indeed, only 24 percent of Democrats said they wanted Biden to be the nominee again. They cited his age he is the oldest person ever elected president and his job performance as the main reasons.

Democrats Reasons For A Different Candidate

Whats the most important reason you would prefer someone other than Joe Biden to be the Democratic Partys 2024 presidential nominee?

Asked of 191 respondents who said they planned to vote in the 2024 Democratic primary and who preferred a candidate other than Joe Biden in a New York Times/Siena College poll from July 5-7, 2022.

Jobs and the economy were the most important problem facing the country according to 20 percent of voters, with inflation and the cost of living close behind as prices are rising at the fastest rate in a generation. One in 10 voters named the state of American democracy and political division as the most pressing issue, about the same share who named gun policies, after several high-profile mass shootings.

More than 75 percent of voters in the poll said the economy was extremely important to them. And yet only 1 percent rated economic conditions as excellent. Among those who are typically working age voters 18 to 64 years old only 6 percent said the economy was good or excellent, while 93 percent rated it poor or only fair.

The White House has tried to trumpet strong job growth, including on Friday when Mr. Biden declared that he had overseen the fastest and strongest jobs recovery in American history. But the Times/Siena poll showed a vast disconnect between those boasts, and the strength of some economic indicators, and the financial reality that most Americans feel they are confronting.

Midway through the 2022 primary season, many Democratic lawmakers and party officials are venting their frustrations with President Bidens struggle to advance the bulk of his agenda, doubting his ability to rescue the party from a predicted midterm trouncing and increasingly viewing him as an anchor that should be cut loose in 2024.

As the challenges facing the nation mount and fatigued base voters show low enthusiasm, Democrats in union meetings, the back rooms of Capitol Hill and party gatherings from coast to coast are quietly worrying about Mr. Bidens leadership, his age and his capability to take the fight to former President Donald J. Trump a second time.

Interviews with nearly 50 Democratic officials, from county leaders to members of Congress, as well as with disappointed voters who backed Mr. Biden in 2020, reveal a party alarmed about Republicans rising strength and extraordinarily pessimistic about an immediate path forward.

Joe Biden Told Barack Obama He Will Run Again In 2024 Report

President thinks hes the only one who can beat Trump, source tells the Hill, as Trump is readying his own third run

Joe Biden has told Barack Obama he will run for re-election in 2024, according to a Washington website, the Hill.

The site cited two anonymous sources. One was quoted as saying Biden wants to run and hes clearly letting everyone know.

It was not clear when Biden told Obama his plans. But Obama visited the White House earlier this month, to celebrate the Affordable Care Act.

Introducing his host, Obama him Vice-President Biden.

That was a joke, he said, to laughter.

Biden was vice-president to Obama from 2009 to 2017. He won the presidency on his own third attempt in 2020 , beating Donald Trump.

At 78, Biden was the oldest president ever inaugurated. If he won again he would be 82 at the start of his second term.

Amid competing crises, from the Russian invasion of Ukraine to the coronavirus and rampant inflation at home, Bidens approval ratings have plummeted. Most observers expect Republicans to retake Congress in November. But the president has dropped plenty of hints that he does plan to run again.

In September, it was widely reported that Biden and aides had told allies he planned to run again. In December, Biden said he would run if he stayed in good health. He has also said Kamala Harris, his vice-president, would be on the ticket again.

Trump, 75, is readying his own third run for the presidency.

Trump Seeing Higher Approval Ratings

Still, Barrack noted the economic progress under Trump’s tenure, which has seen U.S. unemployment at its lowest levels since 1969 and the stock market hit record highs. January saw employers add 225,000 jobs nationwide, the Labor Department reported Friday, and consumer confidence is up particularly among independent voters, an important constituency that could prove decisive come November.

And rather than being hit by the impeachment proceedings, Trump’s approval rating has ticked up from 47% to 49%, according a recent poll by Hill/HarrisX conducted after he was acquitted on impeachment charges. The president also reached a 49% approval rating in a Gallup poll last week, the highest recorded by Gallup since he assumed the presidency.

“I think President Trump has done a great job, he has aligned his power base producing great results for his constituency,” Barrack said. “But America’s divided, as the world is divided. So it’s never over till it’s over.”

Worries About Age And A Successor

To nearly all the Democrats interviewed, the presidents age 79 now, 82 by the time the winner of the 2024 election is inaugurated is a deep concern about his political viability. They have watched as a commander in chief who built a reputation for gaffes has repeatedlyrattled global diplomacy with unexpected remarks that were later walked back by his White House staff, and as he has sat for fewer interviews than any of his recent predecessors.

The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue, said David Axelrod, the chief strategist for Barack Obamas two winning presidential campaigns.

Biden doesnt get the credit he deserves for steering the country through the worst of the pandemic, passing historic legislation, pulling the NATO alliance together against Russian aggression and restoring decency and decorum to the White House, Mr. Axelrod added. And part of the reason he doesnt is performative. He looks his age and isnt as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isnt rooted in reality.

President Trump and former VP Joe Biden face off in final presidential debate 10/22/2020

There’s one tiny sliver of hope for Joe Biden in a devastating new poll that flags rising concerns over the President’s age and performance and shows even most Democrats want another candidate in 2024. He could still beat Donald Trump.

When it comes to Bidens likability, he soars among almost every demographic and is more favorable than Donald Trump . However, Biden also sits atop all the potential 2020 candidates as the only candidate with a favorability over 50 percent, according to late December Quinnipiac polling.

Biden has a track record of working across the aisle to get things done. Biden was the guy who negotiated the fiscal cliff deal with Senator Mitch McConnell as well as a major part of the 2010 deal that extended the Bush tax cuts, because he doesnt view Republicans as enemies, he knows he needs to work with them in order to get things done. This is exactly the right tone that needs to be set on the campaign trail especially as Republican voters in general and Trump supporters in particular feel vilified by the media.

Just this week, he responded to criticism of himself in the New York Times for being bipartisan saying, I read in the New York Times today that one of my problems if I were to run for president, I like Republicans. OK, well bless me father for I have sinned.

Biden May Think He Can Beat Trump In 2024 But What If The Gop Chooses Someone Else

Following the various setbacks and missteps by the Biden administration, talk among Democrats that President Joe Biden should step aside to let a younger, more nimble politician lead the party into the 2024 election cycle is increasingly out in the open.

Pouring a bit of gasoline on this simmering debate within the party is Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who said Wednesday that it is certainly possiblethat Biden will face a Democratic primary challenge ahead of 2024. Then came some eyebrow-raising commentson the very same day by Vice President Kamala Harris. During a flight aboard Air Force Two, the vice president said that the president intends to run and if he does, I will be his ticket-mate the if in her remark fueling fresh speculation that a second Biden bid might not be such a sure thing.

The president has failed to meet the moment by not adequately addressing important kitchen table issues across the country.

But its not just elected officials who are questioning whether Biden should or will throw his hat in the ring for a repeat recent polling by YouGovsuggests that as few as 4 in 10 Democrats are convinced he should run again in 2024. Biden, for his part, has apparently become increasingly irritated by fellow members of his party who regularly bring up the matter of him stepping asidewhile at the same time working overtime to sell his viability for a Round #2 to party leaders.

Joe Biden Can Beat Trump In 2020 But Will The Democratic Party Let Him Run

Matthew Cooper U.S.Joe BidenDonald Trump2020 ElectionDemocrats

Five monthsfive agonizing months. That’s how long it had been since Joe Biden’s eldest son, Beau, died of an aggressive brain tumor. For three years, Joe had cared for Beau, an Iraq War veteran and Delaware’s attorney general, but by the spring of 2015 he was gone. The pain of his son’s death was still raw for the vice president as he stepped behind a microphone in the White House’s Rose Garden in October 2015, flanked by his wife, Jill, and President Barack Obama.

You could see Joe Biden’s hurt his normally ebullient smile was gone, replaced by a fatigued grimace. Facing a small crowd and live cameras, Biden announced what many had long expected: He would not be running for president in 2016. The longtime senator was not emotionally ready. The “grieving process,” Biden said, “doesn’t respect or much care about things like filing deadlines or debates and primaries and caucuses.”

The plan was in place, but the night before Biden’s Rose Garden speech, Donilon suddenly reversed course. “You shouldn’t do this,” he told Biden, who had to admit he was right. For months, he had been wrestling with Beau’s death, sometimes welling up in public, most notably in an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in September, and he’d come to believe he wasn’t capable of giving all his energy to a presidential bid.

America may want him to run, but do the Democrats?

The Tell: Historian who has accurately called every election since 1984 ...

Twitter might be a soul-destroying wasteland of politicized anger and propaganda, but it’s also highly illuminating. Follow an ideologically wide range of accounts and you can watch America’s most engaged political actors and informed observers responding to events, describing what they see, and forging a consensus about its meaning in real time. The result is a remarkably vivid ultrasound of the political soul of the nation.

The picture it revealed on Wednesday wasn’t pretty.

While the attorney general appeared before the Senate, parrying questions from both sides of the aisle, there was a perfect partisan symmetry to the reaction, with just about everyone left of center unwaveringly convinced Barr was a lying through his teeth about everything he said and doing everything in his power to protect the criminal syndicate led by the president who appointed him. Those who fall right of center perceived a diametrically opposite reality one in which William Barr had done nothing wrong, was understandably annoyed at the deranged grandstanding of Democrats, and emerged from the questioning with his stellar reputation fully intact. It was a perfect enactment of negative partisanship, with each side’s hatred of the other fully shaping its interpretation of events.

Which is why in the event of a Biden victory in the primaries we’re likely to see a repeat and radicalization of the 2016 Trump campaign’s effort to treat its opponent as thoroughly corrupt.

Hillary Was The Easiest Candidate That Donald Trump Could Have Faced

This was probably the most important factor that tipped the election. The first 2 points that we discussed along with having Hillary Clinton as the Democratic candidate was a lethal combination. Theres something about Hillary that rubs a lot of people in the wrong way. And its not only Republicans many Democrats dont like her either. Bernie Sanders didnt help with this likability problem at all. More like the contrary, he hurt Hillary a lot during the Democratic primary by labeling her as part of the establishment and working more for the big corporations than the working class. DT had it easy in the debates to pick on her. Whether it was Bengazi, her husband, their foundation, or the damn emails DT was always painting the picture of a career and corrupt politician that felt entitled to be President. This made a lot of Democrats stay home. Many thought Theres no way Im voting for Donald Trump but Im not going to vote for Hillary either. I think most of the Democrats that did this never thought, not even in their wildest nightmare, that DT could actually win. Thats why they decided to stay home.

So, thats it? Joe Biden is poised to win this election no matter how, right? Not so fast!

The problem with Joe Biden isJoe Biden.

Of course, Im ignoring many other present and future aspects that will influence the election. Including the huge elephant in the room, the pandemic that has the whole world in a full lockdown .

1 The poor response that DT had to it .
