Fairfax, Va. The National Rifle Association is pleased to announce that former President Donald Trump will headline a star-studded cast of political heavyweights at the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Leadership Forum on Friday, May 27, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
âIt is truly an honor to have President Trump address NRA members for the sixth time at our 2022 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum in Houston,â said NRA Executive Vice President & CEO Wayne LaPierre. âPresident Trump delivered on his promises by appointing judges who respect and value the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and in doing so helped ensure the freedom of generations of Americans. NRA members are excited to hear him speak and thank him for his support for our right to keep and bear arms.â
Starting at 2 p.m. local time, Trump will be joined in a celebration of Second Amendment rights by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Sen. John Cornyn, Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

Donald Trump couldnt sleep.
It was afternoon in Washington when Larry Kudlows cell phone buzzed it was the middle of the night where the call was coming from. But that didnt matter to Kudlow, a former CNBC presence now working as a White House economic adviser, for this wasnt the first call hed received from the same man halfway around the globe.
The sun would not rise for several hours in India, but President Trump hadnt slept, pacing in his palatial New Delhi hotel suite. He was battling some jet lag, to be sure, but he wasnt awake because of that, or because he was still charged up from the 110,000-person rally he had held at the worlds largest cricket stadium or the majestic tour he had received of the Taj Mahal.
The president didnt know it yet, but he was embarking on one of the most consequential weeks of his term. At the beginning of the week, he had believed that he would be running for reelection on the back of a strong economy while facing socialist Bernie Sanders. By the end of that week, neither was true.
But publicly, Trump lied.

Select Committee Subpoenas Former Officials With Close Ties To The Former President
WashingtonChairman Bennie G. Thompson today announced that the Select Committee has issued subpoenas to ten former administration officials as part of its investigation into the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol and its causes. The committee is demanding records and testimony from witnesses including individuals who served as White House officials at the time of the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Chairman Thompson issued the following statement:
The Select Committee wants to learn every detail of what went on in the White House on January 6th and in the days beforehand. We need to know precisely what role the former President and his aides played in efforts to stop the counting of the electoral votes and if they were in touch with anyone outside the White House attempting to overturn the outcome of the election. We believe the witnesses subpoenaed today have relevant information and we expect them to comply fully with the Select Committees investigation as we work to get answers for the American people, make recommendations on changes to the law to protect our democracy, and help ensure that nothing like January 6th ever happens again.
The Select Committee issued subpoenas for records and testimony to the following individuals:
Christopher Liddell, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff, was in the White House on January 6th and reportedly considered resigning on that day but stayed on after a great deal of persuasion.

Donald Trump has insisted he is writing the book of all books even though major figures in US publishing said on Tuesday that no big house is likely to touch a memoir by the 45th president because it might stoke a staff uprising and it would be too hard to get a book that was factually accurate.
When Trump left the White House in January, the Washington Post said he made 30,573 false or misleading claims while in power. The comments by publishing insiders were reported by Politico.
Former presidents traditionally turn to their memoirs when they leave office after two terms, like Barack Obama, or are kicked out of it after one, like Trump. Ever since the Guardian broke news of Michael Wolffs first White House tell-all, Fire and Fury, in January 2018, books about Trump and his presidency have proved a goldmine.
In a statement last week, Trump said he turned down two book deals, from the most unlikely of publishers, which he did not name. I do not want a deal right now, he said. Im writing like crazy anyway, however, and when the time comes, youll see the book of all books.
Book deals by other rightwingers have run into problems in relation to the deadly attack on the US Capitol on January 6th, in service of Trumps lie about electoral fraud and attempt to overturn his election defeat.

Republican former President Donald Trump has launched an official website www.45office.com, a platform for his supporters to stay in touch and to showcase his time in office.
The 45office.com websites home page displays multiple pictures of Trump with various figures including his wife Melania, members of the military and world leaders, which were taken at multiple events during his time as president.
The Office of Donald J. Trump is committed to preserving the magnificent legacy of the Trump Administration, while at the same time advancing the America First agenda, the message on websites home page read.
The About section contains a glowing 850-word synopsis of his time in office, highlighting what Trump has often cited as his greatest achievements, including energy and border security, strengthening NATO and other international alliances, and his response to the coronavirus pandemic.
It made no mention of the scandals, corruption investigations, two impeachments or the attacks on democratic institutions that framed his presidency.
It was not immediately clear when the website went live.
Trump retains significant influence over the Republican Party despite his loss in the 2020 election and has hinted at a possible presidential run in 2024.
In an interview with Fox News earlier this month, Jason Miller, a spokesman for Trumps 2020 campaign, said Trump will launch his own social media platform in two to three months.

Illinois Republican Representative and Trump critic Adam Kinzinger is now considering whether to run for the Senate, governor, or the White House after announcing that he wont seek reelection to the House of Representatives.
But there are strong doubts if he can make his way forward in todays GOP as an anti-Trump conservative who was just one of 10 House Republicans to vote to impeach the former president after the insurrection on 6 January.
He told CNN that he will probably decide by January if hell make a run for the Senate or the governors mansion.
The key is, how do we restore the honour of the party in the country? he said, adding that he definitely wouldnt rule out a 2024 White House run.
In order to win a Republican primary and become the partys nominee in any race, he would have to convince a GOP base still very much attached to former President Donald Trump. Illinois is also a fairly blue state, where few Republicans have won statewide races in the last 10 years.

Ways Trump Is Out Of Touch With Voters
With barely three months until Election Day, President Trump is in a deep slump, with polls showing him trailing Democrat Joe Biden by more than 9 percentage points. Bidens lead is much bigger than Hillary Clintons at the same point in 2016.
That could change. The reeling economy could improve come fall, probably the one thing Trump needs most. A surprise vaccine breakthrough could hasten the end of the coronavirus pandemic. The fumbly Biden could self-destruct in some way. Trump obviously beat long odds in 2016, and he could do it again.
A core problem for Trump, however, is that hes out of step with the U.S. electorate on many issues. Trump famously caters to his loyal base, with midwestern working-class whites at the core. But Trump alienates moderates and Independents who might otherwise support him with hardline base-pleasing policies on issues such as immigration, climate change and, now, law and order. Trump can recover in the polls somewhat, but its not clear he can win over voters who disagree with him on so many issues, such as these:
The coronavirus threat. Trump has consistently dismissed the risk posed by the coronavirus, and he still insists it will disappear. Most Americans are more concerned, with 67% saying the virus is a major risk to the health of the American public.
Tax returns. Fifty-six percent of Americans say Trump should release his tax returns, as every major presidential candidate has done since the 1970s. Trump, of course, refuses.

E Jean Carrolls Defamation Case
E. Jean Carroll, a former Elle magazine writer, sued Trump for defamation in 2019 after the then-president denied her allegation that he raped her in the 1990s in a New York City department store. He accused her of lying to drum up sales for a book.
The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan is poised to rule on whether Carrolls lawsuit should be dismissed.
A lawyer for Trump has argued that he is protected by a federal law that makes government employees immune from defamation claims.

Apparently! It was registered in Delaware in February but somehow went unnoticed until Wednesday night. Anyway, Trump has very big ambitions for TMTG, according to the truly ludicrous 22-page investor presentation that was published on its website.

Ultimately, TMTG aims to be a conglomerate with plans to in all seriousness operate a news network that competes with CNN, a streaming platform that competes with Disney+, and a technology services business that competes with Amazon Web Services.

So far, the only part of this that exists are bits of Truth Social, which appears to be a fork of decentralized social network Mastodon. The app already has issues. Some journalists have already on the app with usernames like donaldtrump and mikepence.
The promotional materials for Truth are full of fake messages from brands that didnt give TMTG permission to be used. In one image, a @ChevyTrucks account has posted messages about a 2022 model year Chevy Tahoe Chevy told The Verge that it was unaware of this project. There is no 2022 Chevy Tahoe EV, a General Motors spokesperson said in an email to The Verge.
