President Trump Hits Highest Approval Rating In History

President Trumps approval rating on economy hits new high: Poll

President Donald Trump has hit his highest approval rating ever, according to two Wall Street Journal and NBC polls.

Despite the relentless negative mainstream media coverage, Trumps approval rating with the American public continues to soar to historic levels.

In the same week Trump was falsley accused of treason by hysterical left-wing journalists and Democrats, Trumps approval rating moved up another 3 points.

The more Trump gets criticized by the media, the more his base seems to rally behind him, one Democratic pollster told NBC.

Information Liberation reports: This is what getting BTFOd looks like:

Trump hasnt even begun to fight back. He told Tucker Carlson last week hes open to declassifying evidence of the deep states crimes in the coming months .

NBC Snooze and the War Street Journal both decided to bury the lead in their coverage of their own poll.

NBC:

WSJ:

Regardless, here some of the highlights from NBC News:

the new NBC/WSJ poll finds the presidents approval rating among Republican voters at 88 percent the highest of his presidency and 29 percent of all voters strongly approve of his job, which is another high for Trump in the poll.

And 50 percent of voters support Trumps handling of the economy, which is up 8 points from October.

Note, the economy is the top issue going into midterms:

A month ago, the top combined responses were health care , the economy and jobs , guns and taxes and spending .

What Would Make You Change Your Mind About Donald J Trump

When Michael Tesler, a political scientist at the University of California Irvine, tries to explain the amazing stability of Trumps approval in his classes, he starts with a question. He asks his students if theres anything Trump could do to make them support him. And hes invariably met by a sea of shaking heads. If you went into Trumps presidency thinking hes a racist, sexist, xenophobic, immoral, narcissistic, corrupt, and incompetent person beliefs held by most Clinton voters then theres literally almost nothing he could do to change your mind, says Tesler.

The same is true in reverse. If you see Trump as the protector of Western Civilization, as Charlie Kirk called him the other night at the RNC, or the protector of white America, as Desmond King and Rogers Smith have called him, defending cherished American values from atheist, left-wing socialists who want to take your guns and put Cory Booker in charge of diversifying your neighborhoods, then theres almost nothing that would make you abandon him, Tesler continues.

But how do we know if were being governed with a bare level of competence?

Some readers wonder how we come up with our job approval ratings for the president since they often dont show as dramatic a change as some other pollsters do. It depends on how you ask the question and whom you ask.

To get a sense of longer-term job approval trends for the president, Rasmussen Reports compiles our tracking data on a full month-by-month basis.

Rasmussen Reports has been a pioneer in the use of automated telephone polling techniques, but many other firms still utilize their own operator-assisted technology .

Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. To reach those who have abandoned traditional landline telephones, Rasmussen Reports uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel. The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters is +/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results are available for Platinum Members.

Why Donald Trumps Approval Rating Is So High Among Republicans

As the U.S. experienced mass unrest over police brutality and racial inequality, a huge spike in unemployment, and on the current count more than 116,000 coronavirus deaths, President Donald Trumps approval rating took an unsurprising turn for the worse.

But there is one group of voters who have remained squarely in Trumps corner in spite of the triple crises facing the nation: Republicans.

Over the past few months, the president has frequently gloated about his high party-approval figures. Tweeting about his approval rating among Republicans on Tuesday night, Trump wrote: 96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Thank you!

As The Washington Post reported at the end of May, the presidents evidence-free claim to have a 96 percent approval rating among GOP voters is not grounded in actual polling data.

Nevertheless, his rating among the Republican base has been consistently high over the last three months.

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll of 653 Republicans found 83 percent approved of Trumps record, a fall of only 5 percentage points from the pollsters March survey. The latest poll, conducted between June 12 to 14, has a 2 percentage point margin of error.

So how has the presidents approval rating among Republicans stayed so high, even amid unrest over race relations, unemployment, and public health?

Germanys Leadership Sets A New High Bar For Approval

WATCH: President Trumps Farewell Address to the Nation ...

In addition to asking about U.S. leadership each year, Gallup also asks the world about the leadership of other global powers, including Germany, China and Russia.

Chancellor Angela Merkels likely last full year in office ended differently from Trumps. Germany not only remained the top-rated global power for the fourth year in a row, but it also broke all previous records. In 2020, median approval of Germanys leadership across 108 countries and territories stood at a record-high 52%.

Line graph. Trend line for global approval ratings of the leadership of the U.S., Germany, Russia and China from 2007 through 2020.

The approval ratings of the U.S., China and Russia continued to cluster together in the lower 30s in 2020. However, Russia, for the first time, edged out both the U.S. and China, with a median approval rating of 34%. China and the U.S. tied for last place, with median approval ratings of 30%. Chinas rating in 2020 was not much different from the 32% in 2019 and in line with measures over the past several years.

Gallup will publish an update on how all four countries looked in the eyes of the world in early 2022.

Lyndon B Johnson: 551%

Presidency: 1963-1969

LBJ took office immediately following the death of John F. Kennedy, and he began his presidency with strong approval ratings by vowing to continue JFKs legacy.

But Johnson was in office during a restless time for America, with the U.S. fighting in Vietnam while dealing with a civil rights struggle and waging a war on poverty at home.

The 36th presidents ratings started to trend downhill as Americans began to sour on the war in Vietnam and grew concerned about rioting in major cities. Johnson ultimately chose not to run for re-election in 1968.

A Third Of The Gop Is Skeptical Of Trump But Half Of That Group Prefers Trump

President Bidens approval ratings have been unusually stable for a very simple reason: Democrats like him a lot, and Republicans dont. Thats a majority of Americans with strong, mostly unmoving opinions, meaning that variations that occur wont move the top-line number very much. Its an artifact of the sharp polarization the country has been experiencing for years and is not something unique to Biden. President Donald Trump saw a similar effect for nearly all of his time in office as did President Barack Obama after an initial honeymoon period.

One effect of that stability is that we dont spend very much time talking about Bidens approval numbers. News organizations tend to focus on whats new or otherwise notable, and months of slightly-above-50-percent polling aint that.

What is unusual, though, are the number of Republicans who, despite their skepticism of Biden, approve of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. About a third of Republicans think Biden is handling the pandemic well, according to new polling from Quinnipiac University. Thats about four times as many Republicans as approve of Bidens performance overall or view him favorably. Its an unusual bit of semi-bipartisanship getting a third of Republicans to say anything positive about Biden seems remarkable.

Among Republicans, it continues to not be enough for Biden simply to not be Trump.

What Did The Data From The Survey Say

Trump sees highest approval rating yet as US economy booms

Trump’s 34 per cent approval rating is a point lower than his prior lowest rating which was recorded in 2017.

Trump has held an average of a 41 per cent approval rating throughout his four years in office which is “4 points lower than for any of his predecessors in the White House in Gallup’s polling era,” according to The Hill.

He is the first president to have failed to have passed a 50 per cent approval rating since Gallup began surveying presidential approval in 1938.

An ABC News-Ipsos poll revealed that the majority of Americans believe Trump should be removed from office.

Trump’s term ends January 20 at noon after President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.

Fox News Trump Approval Rating: 45 Percent

Fox News has not tracked Trumps approval rating since mid-August, and found the president to have a 45 percent approval rating.

The Fox News poll also found 53 percent of those polled disapproved of his time in office.

The 45 percent approval is on track with similar findings from the news outlets polling arm in the past. In mid-July they found 46 percent of Americans approved of the president and a 45 percent approval rating in early June.

A Popular Theory For Trumps Popularity Among Republicans Appears To Be Wrong

It is not the case, despite President Trumps regular assertions, that his approval rating among Republicans is a consistent 95 percent. Although that figure appears regularly in the presidents Twitter feed, there appears to be no basis for it in public polling.

It is, however, the case that Trump is broadly popular among Republicans. In YouGovs most recent poll with the Economist, 88 percent of his party approves of the job hes doing somewhat offsetting the disapproval he garners among 89 percent of Democrats.

To Democrats, the level of support for Trump within his party seems occasionally baffling. How could someone they hate so much be viewed so positively by the other party? Over the course of Trumps presidency, a theory emerged: Hes so popular among Republicans because Trump-skeptical Republicans have simply given up on the party. Wring all the skeptics out of the party, and youre left with a more unanimous, if smaller, core.

Theres a public example of how this would work, after all: Had Rep. Justin Amash not left the party in July, the vote to impeach Trump in the House would not have been unanimously opposed by Republicans. Instead of Republicans voting 195-to-1 against impeachment, it was 195-to-0. This, perhaps, is how Trumps approval also works.

Unfortunately for that theory, though, the numbers dont really back it up.

The numbers havent changed much.

Its Like Where Do We Go

These swing voters readily say that their frustrations with both a Republican Party in Trumps grasp and with Biden leave them feeling a bit lost politically.

Georgia resident Xaveria asked a simple question: Its like, where do we go?

These voter discussions were part of a series of focus groups that have been organized by longtime political strategist Sarah Longwell, the publisher of The Bulwark website who herself is a Republican whos worked to defeat Trump.

She hears voters like Xaveria and Christine and says they reject Trump and GOP candidates trying to be Trumpy themselves. She says such voters are open to voting for Democrats, but the party also needs to nominate more moderate candidates to make these voters feel welcome there.

These moderate-to-conservative voters are very clear that they feel politically unmoored, politically homeless, Longwell said in an interview.

I really view these voters as up for grabs in 2022 and 2024, she said. But Longwell says it matters who the candidates are and how the parties see themselves.

And Longwell says it makes such voters worth watching. It also makes them potentially pivotal. Right now, people who are willing to change their vote from one party to another really hold the keys to political power, she said.

Real Clear Politics Trump Approval Rating: 408 Percent

President Trump Deserves the Nobel Prize For Peace ...

In mid-September, Real Clear Politicswhich tracks numerous polls to find an averagefound the president to have a 40.8 percent approval rating, compared to 53.6 percent who disapproved of him.

The number was a downturn for Trump, who Real Clear Politics found had a 42.9 percent approval rating in mid-July, a notch higher than his 42.4 percent approval rating the month before.

The website found that the presidents approval rating has been declining since late August, amid criticism of his handling of Sen. John McCains death and guilty pleas by his former lawyer Michael Cohen and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Fact Check: How Smart Is President

Times-Union readers want to know:

I received an email with a chart that supposedly ranks the intelligence quotients of U.S. presidents, along with the claim that President-elect Donald Trump would rank among the smartest with an IQ of 156. Is this legitimate?

The chart is based on a 2006 study conducted by University of California, Davis psychologist Dean Keith Simonton, Snopes.com reports. As IQ scores were not available for most of the presidents, Simonton used a “historiometric” approach to estimate their results:

In the conventional approach to measuring IQ, Snopes.com notes, people are given a standardized test, such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, and their score on the test is assumed to reflect their level of intelligence . In the historiometric approach, a person’s IQ is quantitatively estimated based on variables having known correlations with IQ, such as highest level of education, academic honors, scores on college admissions exams, occupation and preferences.

Simonton’s research was boiled down into the chart for a 2015 article published by US News, Snopes.com found. The chart shows the top 5 most intelligent presidents are John Quincy Adams , Thomas Jefferson , John F. Kennedy , Bill Clinton and Woodrow Wilson . The bottom 5 are Andrew Johnson , George W. Bush , Warren G. Harding , James Monroe and Ulysses S. Grant .

So, even though the IQ chart is based on a real study, it’s still just estimation. And there is no way to know what Trump’s IQ is.
