And here’s why: Trump’s endorsement of DePerno and Karamo comes ahead of an April 23 endorsement convention where the state Republican Party delegates will begin formally nominating candidates for down-ballot races, including attorney general and secretary of state. The nominees for other races, like governor or congressional seats, will be selected by the voters themselves during the Aug. 2 primary. And it’s not only Trump who has made endorsements, but also state party co-chair Meshawn Maddock, a staunch Trump supporter who is expected to be at the rally.
Taken together, that has quite a few Republicans either privately or publicly upset. Party leaders and officials typically don’t make endorsements ahead of primaries or the party’s selection, not wanting to make it seem as though they are trying to dictate an outcome. In the case of DePerno and Karamo, some Republicans are making the case that their pro-Trump stances are extreme to a point where more mainstream voters will reject them. That could keep the party from winning in what is otherwise expected to be a favorable year.

This gets a little complicated, but the long and short of it is that there has been no credible evidence found, in numerous audits, court cases and other efforts, to back up Trump’s claims of widespread election fraud in any state, including Michigan, where he made those allegations.
Democratic and Republican election challengers observed the vote count across Michigan, including in Detroit, where Trump wrongly claimed that invalid ballots appeared mysteriously in the middle of the night. Officials from both parties reviewed and certified the results. Courts rejected challenges to the outcome as based on misunderstanding, conspiracy and conjecture. Post-election audits confirmed that voting machines accurately read ballots. Trump’s own attorney general, William Barr, told Trump that a look into allegations of corruption in Detroit found them baseless.
A comprehensive investigation led by GOP lawmakers uncovered no evidence of widespread fraud and told voters they should have confidence that Joe Biden legitimately won Michigan. And a review in Michigan, nowhere near enough to have tipped the outcome of the election, which Biden won in the state by more than 154,000 votes.

In the 30-second trailer released on the official Piers Morgan Uncensored and TalkTV pages, the duo can be seen discussing the US 2020 election, with Trump maintaining his unproved claims that the election was stolen.
The trailer shows Trump appearing to storm off the set following Morgan’s hard line of questions.
“I think I’m a very honest person. More honest than you,” Trump says, to which Morgan replies: “Do you?”
“It was a free and fair election. You lost!” the broadcaster then adds.
“Only a fool would think that!” Trump quips as the pair go back and forth with one another.

Following the trailer, the former president’s team released an audio where he claimed he and Piers could be heard cordially ending the interview, thanking one another and laughing.
In an interview with Lorraine, Morgan responded to the president’s allegations that the clip had been “doctored”, saying: “He says its a rigged election, and he now says I have a rigged promo. What I would say is watch the interview. It will all be there. We wont be doing any duplicitous editing.

Doj Will Not Prosecute Mark Meadows And Dan Scavino For Contempt Of Congress: Nyt
On Friday, The New York Timesreported that the Department of Justice has decided against charging former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and former Trump social media director Dan Scavino with contempt of Congress.
The reason appears to be that both of them have cooperated with the investigation to a greater degree than other Trump allies who were charged with contempt, chiefly former strategists Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro.
Based on the individual facts and circumstances of their alleged contempt, my office will not be initiating prosecutions for criminal contempt as requested in the referral against Messrs. Meadows and Scavino, Matthew M. Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, wrote to Douglas N. Letter, the general counsel of the House, on Friday, reported Alan Feuer and Luke Broadwater. My offices review of each of the contempt referrals arising from the Jan. 6 committees investigation is complete.’
Both Mr. Meadows and Mr. Scavino who were deeply involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 election engaged in weeks of negotiations with the committees lawyers, and Mr. Meadows turned over more than 9,000 documents to the panel, before the House voted to charge them with contempt, noted the report. By contrast, Mr. Navarro and his ally Stephen K. Bannon, who has also been charged with contempt, fought the committees subpoenas from Day 1 and never entered into negotiations.
