What Is The Lincoln Project

Started in 2020, The Lincoln Project is an independent political action committee , whose stated mission is to defeat President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box.

While super PACs designed to support or oppose a particular politician are common, The Lincoln Project is unusual in that it has been created by members of the presidents own party.

The Republican Party is sometimes referred to as The Party of Lincoln because Abraham Lincoln was the first member of the party to serve as president. The partys political alignment has changed considerably since Lincolns time.

For example, Lincoln oversaw a federal government that had vast power, which today would be much at odds with modern small government Republicans.

In an op-ed written for The New York Times, The Lincoln Project argues that Mr. Trump and his enablers have abandoned conservatism and longstanding Republican principles and replaced them with Trumpism, an empty faith led by a bogus prophet.

The authors of the op-ed go on to express their dismay that a majority of Republican voters now consider Trump to be a better president than Lincoln. This is why The Lincoln Project has vowed to unseat Trump, even if it means siding with Democrats with whom they have many policy differences.

Make America Great Again Again

Fundraiser by Rick Wilson : Everything Trump Touches Dies Film

100 years ago, the Klu Klux Klan reinvented itself under the guidance of William J. Simmons into an organization dedicated to 100 percent Americanism and white Protestantism. The new Klan was tightly bound up in Christian virtue and patriotic pride, according to The Atlantic, but what it was first and foremost was a white supremacist group that railed against the influx of immigrants, especially those with swarthy complexions. In every respect, it was in direct opposition to the sentiments expressed by the writings at the base of the Statue of Liberty.

It was the embodiment of a human characteristic that seems to be baked into our DNA. Everyone wants to close and lock the clubhouse door after they get into the club. Trump and his closest advisers such as Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller fanned the flames of white paranoia into a conflagration in the mind of Donald Trump and his supporters. Make America Great Again is not unique to Trump. It has been part of American culture, to a greater of lesser extent, since the country was founded.

Enter Rick Wilson, a Republican political operative who wrote a book in 2018 entitled Everything Trump Touches Dies. A review in The Guardian includes a number of short excerpts, including these:

The Gop Strategist Has Harsh Words For Trump His Base And His Enablers In Washington

To Americans who didn’t vote for President Trump, life in Trumplandia can often feel like being a survivor in a zombie flick. It’s as if we’re hiding in a boarded-up house, clinging to one another, as the malevolently somnambulant hordes of MAGAs grumble and lurch toward us, bringing with them certain death and destruction. If, like me, you relate to this feeling, think of Rick Wilson as the bad-ass hombre who shows up in the middle of the second act, ready to teach us how to fight back.

Wilson is a national Republican political strategist and media consultant who has worked for gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns, super PACs, and corporations. In his new, deliciously vicious book, Everything Trump Touches Dies: A Republican Strategist Gets Real About the Worst President Ever , Wilson critiques Trump and his enablers from the right. His raw-brawling style and deftly articulated rage at “a certain frequent tweeter with an exotic dead-animal hairstyle and a notoriously short temper” have made Wilson an unexpected darling of the left, and a kind of Cassandra in steel-toed boots for his own party.

When I spoke to Wilson, he lamented the “ideological monoculture” on the right : “As a member of Congress or a member of the Senate, you are a representative of the people who sit you there.” Now that Republican elected officials live in what he calls “Fear of a Mean Tweet,” he says, “that representative work gets lost.”

Don’t Miss: Is Trump Trying To Take Away Social Security

For Trump A Lifetime Of Evading Responsibility Comes To An End

The fraud may finally get caught, but we’re the ones who will pay the price.

He avoided Vietnam with a bone spur claim and got away with it.

He lied about how his career started and where his capital came from and got away with it.

He cheated on taxes his whole life and got away with it.

He groped, forcibly kissed, harassed, and allegedly raped women and got away with it.

He colluded with Russia to win the presidency and got away with it.

He bullied, threatened, and weakened an ally and got away with it.

He is denying, ignoring, obfuscating, and depreciating a virus and possible pandemic does he get away with it?

When youve spent your whole life getting away with murder when all of lifes problems slip off of you like Teflon when the blame does not fall to you but always to everyone else when you skate on thin ice and never fall in when you get through every crisis by the seat of your pants. When does all the rigid luck ultimately start to crumble?

Could now be the moment when Donald Trump finally doesnt get away with it, and the very moment when we desperately hope that he does?

Am I being melodramatic? Possibly, but when it comes to the unknown, who knows, and when it comes to Trump, there is no definitive answer.

After 73 years of escaping, eluding, evading, and eschewing, Trumps luck may have finally run out. And the tragedy no the calamity is that we will be the ones who lose in the end.

Orphaned References In Bibliography Of Donald Trump

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Bibliography of Donald Trump‘s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can’t determine which is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named “cnn”:

Factually Incorrect Line Re Trump Tower

The row re Trump Tower is factually incorrect. I tried to simply fix, got reverted, so here discussing per WP:BRD.

The row does not convey the facts in the cites as it gives date as 2011, and states “First edition has Trump as lead.”

The cites clearly say only “early promotional materials” appeared that way

And “publication was cancelled”, “ended up being released by Jeffrey Robinson”
And the other way “was never published ” .

Jeffrey Robinson is the sole author on the published book, first edition in July 2012.

Cheers, 04:13, 6 July 2017

Right, and this is all clearly stated already on the page. Everything stated at present on the page is factual, and backed up to multiple cites. Sagecandor 04:14, 6 July 2017
had an edit overlap there User:Sagecandor – and no, the line is factually incorrect and not stating the cite content.
There was no publication listing Trump as author “publication was cancelled” and “was never published”, instead
“ended up being released by Jeffrey Robinson”.
The first edition lists only Jeffrey Robinson. In 2012. 04:28, 6 July 2017
User ignores the fact that it was marketed as the “debut novel” of author Donald Trump. By the publisher. Sagecandor 04:29, 6 July 2017

This was already discussed here and decided that the first edition was not the promotional images showing Trump as lead author. Instead that it was written by Robinson. PackMecEng 03:45, 7 July 2017

Don’t Miss: How To Send A Tweet To Donald Trump

She Claims The President Is In Mental Decline

Manigault Newman paints a portrait of Trump as a man in mental decline, who would forget from one day to the next.

He was distracted, irritable, and short, she writes.I was going over his speech, but he couldnt retain any of the bullet points. I went over them again and again, and what he should say to the press after the event.

She adds, But he couldnt remember the key points and stumbled over the large words, which we scratched out and replaced with simpler terms. Manigault Newman also writes that Trump reads at an eighth- or ninth-grade level.

Now Manigault Newman, once a loyal Trump supporter, is reckoning with what she sees as the perils of Trumps presidency.

Trumps charisma is all that matters. He has an ability to convince you that hes right, and that everything is going to be fine, Newman writes. You choose to believe because the alternative is terrifying, thats hes not equipped with the basic skills to make crucial decisions that will impact the lives of millions of Americans and billions of people around the world.

Few People Have Given Democratic Campaigns More Headaches Than Renegade Gop Strategist Rick Wilson But Today Wilsons Main Cause Is Saving The Republican Party From Trumpism

Everything Trump Touches Dies by Rick Wilson and Simon ...

Rick Wilson

My interview with Republican media strategist Rick Wilson came under somewhat ironic circumstances at the Fast Company Innovation Festival last week in New York City. While we sat discussing the meltdown of American democratic standards in the Trump Age upstairs from the festivals main stage, people had sealed off the building for a security check before the appearance of Trumps friend and supporter Kanye West. West would say during the appearance that he may run for president in 2024.

It is exactly this kind of statement that Wilson now uses his influence to fight againstthough that wasnt always the case. Wilson is best known for creating GOP TV ads that bedeviled opposing Democratic campaigns, such as the controversial 2008 spot featuring disturbing soundbites from the sermons of Barack Obamas pastor, Jeremiah Wright. But these days, Wilson is a public speaker, author, and Twitter celebrity who frequently speaks out against Trumps brand of politics.

I spoke to him about lies in political ads, data science, the GOP after Trump, the economys impact on 2020, and the follow-up to his bestselling Everything Trump Touches Dies, called Running with the Devil, which is due out in January.

The following interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.

You cant run an ad for gun parts on Facebook. But you can say Bernie Sanders eats babies.
