What Donald Trump Tweeted After Fiery Presidential Debate With Joe Biden
The first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden took place on Tuesday and saw fiery exchanges between the candidates.
Trump took to Twitter following the debate and sent a large number of tweets and retweets about the event, many of them critical of Biden and the moderator, Fox News’ Chris Wallace.
The president has long used Twitter as a means to communicate with his followers and often criticizes political opponents directly on the social media platform. However, Trump mainly relied on other users’ tweets to make his point about the debate.
Trump shared a number of clips of the debate interspersed with campaign videos about Biden and his son, Hunter, whose alleged business dealings with foreign nationals were the topic for one contentious portion of the night. He also quoted some of his own comments.
The president was keen to highlight his support among police officers. The Fraternal Order of Police, the nation’s largest police union, has endorsed him.
“The American people want LAW & ORDER Joe Biden won’t even say those words!” Trump tweeted, later adding: “Joe Biden could not name a single Law Enforcement group that supports his candidacy!”
Trump also repeated his criticism of Biden and the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 200,000 Americans have died from the virus but the president claimed on Tuesday that more lives would have been lost if Biden had been president.

Trump referred to a book excerpt by Donna Brazile, the Democratic National Committees former interim leader, that stated that Hillary Clintons joint fundraising agreement with the DNC effectively gave her control of it. Her main challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders, signed his own agreement with the party months later. Brazile alleged she found proof that the primary was rigged for Clinton, but she walked back that claim on ABCs This Week on Nov. 5.

This late Friday-night tweet from Mar-a-Lago, which came a day after the release of former FBI Director James Comeys memos about his interactions with the president, appeared aimed at undermining special counsel Robert Muellers Russia probe. Comey has testified that he asked a friend to share the content of a memo with a reporter, hoping that would prompt the appointment of a special counsel. Comeys memos were unclassified, with some portions blacked out as classified.

This Trump tweet after a London subway bombing on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, was quickly rebuked by British Prime Minister Theresa May, who said, I never think its helpful for anybody to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation. Trump said he had been briefed on the explosion. The Associated Press later reported that the homemade bomb partially detonated, injuring 30 people. Trump also tweeted that day that his travel ban should be far larger, tougher and more specific, and in another message said that Our hearts & prayers go out to the people of London.

The President has under two weeks left in office before Joe Biden is inaugurated, however there have been public calls for the removal of Trump with top two Democrats describing the President as dangerous.
House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer both said Vice President Mike Pence should invoke the 25th amendment of the US Constitution to remove him from office before then.
Tweets As Official Statements
Throughout his presidency, Trump frequently appeared to issue orders through his tweets. Whether these tweets were official directives was unclear. A US National Archives spokesman said that Trump’s tweets are considered presidential records.
In 2017, the Department of Justice argued in one court case that Trump’s tweets were “official statements of the President of the United States.” In another case, the DOJ argued they were official policy statements but that the tweets were also “personal conduct that is not an exercise of state power.” The ABA Journal wrote in 2017, “There’s little caselaw on to what extent government use of social media can be considered official or a ‘public forum,’ which affords First Amendment protection to people who might be excluded based on their viewpoints.”
In 2019, the Secretary of the US Navy said he did not interpret a Trump tweet as a “formal order to act” after Trump tweeted that the Navy should not take away Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher‘s status as a Navy SEAL.
In 2020, a court asked that Trump clarify his intention after he tweeted what appeared to be an order calling for the disclosure of documents related to Russian interference in the 2016 election. In a court filing White House Chief of Staff said that: “The President indicated to me that his statements on Twitter were not self-executing declassification orders and do not require the declassification or release of any particular documents.”

Trump To Hold Coronavirus Briefing Today
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany just announced Trump will hold a coronavirus briefing today at 5 pm ET.

The president resumed the briefings last week, nearly three months after he suspended the daily events.
The initial decision to suspend the briefings came shortly after Trump dangerously suggested that Americans could protect themselves from coronavirus by ingesting disinfectants, prompting warnings from some state health officials not to do so.
In last weeks briefings, the president did not reiterate that false claim, and he strongly urged Americans to wear face masks after months of refusing to do so.
However, the president went on a Twitter spree last night that reshared false claims about the use of hydroxychloroquine as a coronavirus treatment.
Trump will almost certainly be asked about those claims today, so it should be a rather interesting briefing.
The Black Lives Matter mural painted outside Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan has been vandalized for at least the fourth time.
In the latest incident, Mark David Hutt, a 32-year-old resident of Rochester, New York, tossed white paint over part of the stencil and smeared it with his hands, according to the New York Police Department. Hutt was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.
He later added, I have not been misleading the American public under any circumstances.

A Trump tweet mobilised far-right extremists to converge on Washington DC on the day of last year’s Capitol riot, a congressional inquiry has heard.
He posted the tweet after “the craziest meeting of the Trump presidency”, said a lawmaker on the panel.
The then-president forged ahead with a rallying call to supporters even though aides repeatedly told him he had fairly lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.
The committee accuses Mr Trump of an attempted coup to remain in power.

Hours before the hearing, Mr Trump, a Republican, dismissed the Democratic-led House of Representatives panel on his Truth Social social media platform as “Political Hacks and Thugs” perpetrating a “HOAX”.
The select committee has been conducting a nearly year-long investigation into the attack on the Capitol. Tuesday’s hearing, the seventh since June, focused on a tweet Mr Trump sent in the early hours of 19 December 2020, and a stormy six-hour meeting at the White House that preceded the post.
Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat on the committee, said the meeting had been described as “unhinged” and “not normal”.
Mr Trump had already been told by White House aides and figures within his own campaign team that he should concede to Mr Biden, a Democrat.

Twitter Permanently Suspends President Donald Trump
Twitter permanently suspended President Donald Trumps account on Friday, citing the risk of further incitement of violence.
The presidents account, with 88 million followers, was initially banned for 12 hours on Wednesday due to severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy, after he used the platform to condemn Vice President Mike Pence as his supporters stormed the Capitol.
Almost immediately, the account that Trump had used for years to convey his every thought, to denounce his enemies and praise his friends, to convey uncountable false statements and official White House announcements, simply disappeared. It was suddenly impossible to see his previous tweets, or even to see his reaction to Twitters decision. Instead, his empty account had been marked: Account suspended.
Trumps attempts to tweet from associated accounts also were blocked. At one point, he was tweeting from his campaign account, but that was promptly suspended.

Trump Launches Defensive Twitter Spree As Coronavirus Death Toll Approaches 150000

Donald Trump sent a flurry of tweets last night, resharing messages accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the country on coronavirus treatments and videos of a doctor falsely claiming that hydroxychloroquine is a cure for the virus.
Dr. Fauci has misled the American public on many issues, but in particular, on dismissing #hydroxychloroquine and calling Remdesivir the new gold standard, the retweet said.
Twitter later took down the videos of the doctor making false claims about hyroxychloroquine, citing their rules on spreading misinformation.
Trumps defensive Twitter spree came as the US coronavirus death toll approaches 150,000. The countrys daily death toll has also recently been on the rise because of many states surges in new cases.
But public health experts, including Fauci, say they remain committed to educating the public about mitigating the spread of the virus, even as the president seems determined to downplay the severity of the threat.
When asked this morning by ABC News George Stephanopoulos how he can continue to do his job while the president undermines his credibility, Fauci replied, You know, George, I dont know how to address that. Im just going to certainly continue doing my job.

Sharing Of Violent Far
Trump has been criticized for his practice of retweeting or copying material from social media accounts posting antisemitic, racist, or false information, such as claims exaggerating the number of crimes committed by black people.
During campaign
PolitiFact singled out as particularly obviously false an image retweeted by Trump that claimed that 81 percent of white murder victims are killed by black people. Politifact noted that, besides being a five-fold exaggeration, the claim was sourced to the non-existent “Crime Statistics Bureau, San Francisco” it later highlighted this retweet when awarding its 2015 “Lie of the Year” badge to Trump’s entire presidential campaign. The fake statistics were first posted by a neo-Nazi Twitter account.

The clip appeared on pro-Trump subreddit, r/The Donald, about four days earlier, and was created by a Reddit account which had previously posted racist, antisemitic and bigoted content. A White House official later denied that the video came from Reddit the official declined “to respond to questions about where the president obtained the clip.” As of December 20,2017, the tweet had been retweeted over 330,000 times, making it Trump’s most retweeted post.

Trump Falsely Claims He Won Election As Millions Of Votes Remain Uncounted
President Trump addressed the nation from the White House after 2 a.m. while the outcome of the election remained unclear, claiming victories in states that have not yet been decided and portraying the orderly counting of millions of legally cast votes as an illegitimate effort to steal the election.
The president pointed to his projected wins in Florida and Texas although he falsely said nobody had projected those states and claimed he’d won Georgia even as ballots are still being counted in some of that state’s largest counties. The president also claimed victory in North Carolina, which CBS News estimates is a toss-up.
“They can’t catch us,” the president falsely claimed about Democrats.
The president also wrongly claimed that he’s winning in Pennsylvania, where millions of ballots have yet to be counted and no winner has been projected.
Votes are still being counted in all these states, and it would clearly be premature for either candidate to declare victory. But that didn’t stop the president from “castrating” the facts, as CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell put it.
“This is a fraud on the American public,” Mr. Trump asserted, though there is no such evidence. “We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election,” the president added, baselessly and dangerously asserting that this election is rife with fraud.

Sticking To The Script
Trump most commonly tweeted about the government, media and corporate institutions, which often became fodder for news coverage. The media often framed the tweets as attacks and counter-punching. But in a closer read, they were not merely responses to criticism or bad news. They regularly described something, the way a narrator would.
But his recasting of reality through his own lens may have also played a role in Trumps downfall. All the attacks, all the twisting of information, all the fear, may have worn out just enough people in key states to ensure his defeat.
When that defeat struck, Trumps storytelling framework did not change: It escalated and multiplied, consuming everything and everyone who did not blatantly support what many have called the Big Lie that the election was rigged against him:
- Jan. 3, 2021: I spoke to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger yesterday about Fulton County and voter fraud in Georgia. He was unwilling, or unable, to answer questions such as the ballots under table scam, ballot destruction, out of state voters, dead voters, and more. He has no clue!
