  • Transgender Service In The Us Military

In August, following an abrupt and inflammatory tweet announcing the change, Trump officially issued a directive ordering the U.S. military to disallow transgender soldiers from serving.

The move reversed the Obama administration’s 2016 announcement that transgender soldiers were free to serve openly. The change has not yet taken full effect, however, as it’s being fought over in the courts.

    Repeal And Replace Obamacare

During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump promised to immediately repeal and replace Obamacare if elected as president, stating that a failure to do so would destroy American healthcare forever. Although neither Trump nor Vice President Mike Pence offered a concrete replacement for healthcare during the campaign, they did promise to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions.

Officially known as the Affordable Care Act, the plan has long been criticised by Republicans who see it as government interference in a private matter, as well as a job killer, given the costs imposed on businesses by the act.

Trump has managed to make minor changes to the law, such as eliminating the fine for not purchasing health insurance and shortening the enrollment period, but Obamacare remains largely unchanged. He has also suggested he will issue an executive order to require health insurance companies to cover all pre-existing health conditions. However, the Affordable Care Act already does this. The law states: A group health plan and a health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage may not impose any pre-existing condition exclusion with respect to such plan or coverage.

To date, Republicans and the Trump administration have been unable to repeal or reform the bill. Obamacare remains the law of the land as it awaits a ruling from the Supreme Court, which is not expected to come until 2021.

    Beginning Border Wall Construction

Although Trump has failed to fully deliver on his campaign pledge to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border as part of his wider anti-immigration agenda, construction has begun on the project.

Over the past four years, the president’s administration has managed to build 360 miles of the border wall, adding to 354 miles of pedestrian barriers that already existed along the 1,933-mile border.

Trump has also used funding from other federal agencies to pay for the construction of the barrier, reneging on his stump promise to make Mexico pay for the wall.

Use Of The Office Of President

    White House

Trump often sought to use the office of the presidency for his own interest. Under his leadership, the Justice Department, which is traditionally independent from the President, became highly partisan and acted in Trump’s interest.Bloomberg News reported in October 2019 that during a 2017 Oval Office meeting, Trump had asked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to pressure the Justice Department to drop a criminal investigation of Reza Zarrab, an Iranian-Turkish gold trader who was a client of Trump associate Rudy Giuliani. Tillerson reportedly refused.

Trump attempted to host the 2020 G7 Summit at his Doral Golf Resort, from which he could have made significant profits. Trump has visited his properties 274 times during his presidency. Government officials were charged as much as $650 per night to stay at Trump’s properties.

In the lead up to the 2020 election, Trump and Postmaster GeneralLouis DeJoy, a close ally of Trump, sought to hamper the US postal service by cutting funding and services, a move which would prevent postal votes from being counted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump has fired, demoted or withdrawn numerous government officials in retaliation for actions that projected negatively on his public image, or harmed his personal or political interests, including Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey, Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire.

President Trump Deploys National Guard Troops To Southern Border

After Congress failed to fund the border wall and other resources, President Trump directed the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to work together with governors to deploy the National Guard to the southern border. While the Guardsmen are not permitted to make arrests, they cover supportive roles giving Border Patrol agents time for substantive activities including the apprehension and detention of illegal aliens. Since then, several states including the border states of California and New Mexico have either refused to deploy or have withdrawn all or most of their National Guardsmen.

    Police Department Reform Reviews

Which of President Trump’s accomplishments are the media not talking about?

In April, Sessions ordered the Justice Department to review all the reform agreements in effect with police departments throughout the nation, one of the foremost ways the Obama DOJ sought to improve policing and reduce civil rights violations in troubled departments. The reason, according to Sessions, was to ensure that the reforms did not hinder the Trump administrations desire for more aggressive criminal enforcement.

Criminal justice reform advocates have been harshly critical of the move, arguing it undermines essential reforms against racism and brutality in policing.

Letter: Donald Trump Has Many Accomplishments

    Substance is what matters.

Many voters do not like President Donald Trumps style. But when you check what has been accomplished during his first four years, we find many things that are better for American voters. Notably for the productive voters, those who work and pay taxes.

Here is a short list :

President Trumps historic tax bill resulted in workers, small businesses and large businesses having the lowest top marginal tax rate in more than 80 years and made the United States again competitive in the global economy.

The United States surpassed Russia and Saudi Arabia as the worlds largest producer of crude oil.

ISIS has lost most of its territory and been largely dismantled.

More Americans were employed, prior to the pandemic, than ever recorded before in our history, with an increase of more than 400,000 manufacturing jobs.

The president signed the groundbreaking First Step Act, a criminal justice bill that made our justice system fairer and helped former inmates successfully return to society. It addressed inequities in sentencing laws that disproportionately harmed Black Americans.

The median household income hit the highest level ever recorded

Yes COVID-19 has diminished many of these accomplishments. I trust we can agree the president did not create or cause the pandemic. In perfect hindsight, we could have done better, but decisions were made based on the known facts and expert advice at the time.

Trump Bars Federal Contractors From Displacing American Workers With Foreign Guestworkers

On August 3, President Trump issued an Executive Order on Aligning Federal Contracting and Hiring Practices with the Interests of American Workers. The order directs the head of every U.S. government executive department and agency that enter into contracts awarded in fiscal years 2018 and 2019 to determine whether contractors/subcontractors used temporary foreign labor for contracts performed in the U.S., and whether this affected opportunities for American workers or created any national security implications. The heads of agencies/departments were also ordered to assess whether contractors/subcontractors offshored work to foreign countries that had previously been performed in the U.S.

According to FAIR President Dan Stein, the order takes on the perverse reality that Americans are subsidizing their own demise when companies that are profiting from taxpayer-supported government contracts displace American workers with foreign workers. Stein adds that the presidents order should be just a first step in reforming our massively abused guest worker programs.

The Mechanism For Funding Hbcus Has Very Little To Do With Trump

Trump has also repeatedly mentioned how his administration has funded historically Black colleges and universities . They couldnt get funded. Nobody was funding them for years and years and decades, nobody was funding them, Trump said.

This is simply untrue: Under Obama, the federal government invested more than $4 billion in HBCUs over seven years.

And while federal funding for HBCUs has been renewed under Trumps presidency, Trump has not publicly acknowledged that the renewal is the result of congressional appropriations.

Congress does all this work and presents it to him in the budget, and he can choose to sign it. This year, he held off on signing some significant STEM funding, making HBCUs beg for it, Rutgers professor and leading HBCU authority Marybeth Gasman told the Washington Post. Trump has promised all kinds of things to HBCUs and has followed through on little. Under Trump, the White House Initiative for HBCUs was moved to the White House and is quite quiet compared to the work under President Obamas administration.

Trump Signed The Biggest Wilderness Protection & Conservation Bill In A Decade And Designated 375000 Acres As Protected Land

Did You Know? Over 30 Amazing Things President Trump Has ...

This is misleading. While Mr. Trump did sign the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management and Recreation Act of 2019, he has stripped protections from far more land than he has preserved. Most notably, he removed some two million acres in Utah that had been part of the Bears Ears National Monument and the Grand Staircase-Escalante in Utah. According to a study published in May 2019 in Science, Mr. Trump is responsible for the largest reduction in the boundaries of protected land in U.S. history.

The president did issue an executive order intended to secure the countrys bulk-power system, but the order does not allow the White House to take over electrical grids.

More:Californians look to home batteries as backup for unreliable electric grid

It is imperative the bulk-power system be secured against exploitation and attacks by foreign threats, Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette said in a press release. This Executive Order will greatly diminish the ability of foreign adversaries to target our critical electric infrastructure.

The order makes no mention of assuming control over all electrical grids, and also does not mention internet servers, broadcasting systems or electronic systems.

Travel Ban Expanded To Six More Countries

On January 31, the Trump administration announced an expansion of the travel ban after a year-long review by the Department of Homeland Security that evaluated the safety performance and protocols of approximately 200 countries. The six additional countries are: Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Sudan. It was true, but since the pandemic, the Trump administration has seen a net loss of about 200,000 manufacturing jobs, wiping out the past six years of growth, according to the Alliance for American Manufacturing. More than 900,000 manufacturing jobs were added between 2010 and 2016 during the Obama administration.
