Transition Period Inauguration And First 100 Days

Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2017. He was sworn in by Chief JusticeJohn Roberts. In his seventeen-minute inaugural address, Trump painted a dark picture of contemporary America, pledging to end âAmerican carnageâ caused by urban crime and saying Americaâs âwealth, strength, and confidence has dissipatedâ by jobs lost overseas. He declared his strategy would be âAmerica First.â The largest single-day protest in U.S. history, the Womenâs March, took place the day after his inauguration and was driven by opposition to Trump and his policies and views.

One of Trumpâs major first year accomplishments, made as part of a â100day pledge,â was the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch as an associate justice of the Supreme Court. Despite the Republican Party holding a majority in both houses of Congress, however, he was unable to fulfill another hundred-day promise, repealing the Affordable Care Act .

President Donald Trump: My fellow Americans, four years ago we launched a great national effort to rebuild our country, to renew its spirit, and to restore the allegiance of this government to its citizens. In short, we embarked on a mission to make America great again for all Americans. As I conclude my term as the 45th President of the United States, I stand before you truly proud of what we have achieved together. We did what we came here to do, and so much more. This week we inaugurate a new administration and pray for its success in keeping America safe and prosperous. We extend our best wishes, and we also want them to have luck, a very important word.

President Donald Trump: We fix our broken trade deals, withdrew from the horrible Trans-Pacific Partnership and the impossible Paris Climate Accord, renegotiated the one-sided South Korea deal. And we replaced NAFTA with the groundbreaking USMCA, thats Mexico and Canada, a deal thats worked out very, very well. Also and very importantly, we imposed historic and monumental tariffs on China, made a great new deal with China. But before the ink was even dry, we and the whole world got hit with the China virus.

How To Address An Invitation To A Former President

I am addressing a wedding invitation to George and Laura Bush. I understand, that the outer envelope would be addressed as follows:Mailing envelope:The Honorable George W. Bush–and Mrs. Laura BushWould the inner envelope be addressed:–President Bush and Mrs. Bush Many thanks, Claudia

Dear Ms. Engle,Looks good.

#1)Officials get their name as a unit. So its correct to write his name fully, not combined with another name. On the envelope the Honorable is used. On an inside envelope you use the conversational form thus switching to President Bush.

#2) During her time in the White House Mrs. Bush used Mrs. Laura Bush perhaps to define herself from another First Lady Mrs. Bush Barbara Bush. Tradition would say that when a couple uses the same surname the wife goes by Mrs. . Both are good. I vote for the the traditional one below.Social envelope:The Honorable George W. Bush–and Mrs. Bush–President Bush and Mrs. Bush

Trumps Foreign Policy Moments

Donald J. Trumps presidency marked a profound departure from U.S. leadership in areas such as trade and diplomacy, as well as an across-the-board toughening of immigration policies.

In his inaugural address, President Donald J. Trump announces an America First approach to foreign policy and trade, which centers on reducing U.S. trade deficits and rebalancing burden sharing within alliances. Trump promises to unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism and emphasizes that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.

Trump directs the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a twelve-country, Asia-focused trade agreement the United States had championed under the Barack Obama administration.

The president signs an executive order banning nationals of six Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the United States for ninety days. The order, later amended to include an additional two countries, also indefinitely freezes refugee intake from Syria. Days later, a federal judge in Washington State blocks part of the order, beginning a series of judicial challenges. That same week, Trump signs two other executive orders concerning immigration. One directs federal funds to the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, and the other bars so-called sanctuary cities from receiving federal grants.

Federal Magistrate Judge Gives Doj One Week To Propose Redactions On The Affidavit That Justified The Search Of Former Presidents Florida Estate

A Florida federal magistrate judge on Thursday ordered the Justice Department to propose redactions in preparation for the potential release of the justification for searching former President Donald Trumps private club, Mar-a-Lago, for classified documents earlier this month.

Following a hearing with media organizations seeking the informations release, Judge Bruce Reinhart gave the Justice Department until Aug. 25 to propose redactions on the affidavit that justified the search. Last week, Reinharts court released documents showing the Justice Department is investigating Trump for potential violations of espionage, mishandling of classified information and destruction of government records.

As I ruled from the bench at the conclusion of the hearing, I find that on the present record the government has not met its burden of showing that the entire affidavit should remain sealed, Reinhart wrote in a brief order posted Thursday.

Several media outlets, including ABC, The Associated Press, CNN, Gannett and The New York Times, argued for the judge to order that the affidavit that justified the search be unsealed. That affidavit contains the sworn statements from investigators that Reinhart signed off on earlier this month to kick off the search.

The companies argued that in such a high-profile case, the public should have the ability to learn the justification for the search.

Formally Addressing The Former President

When addressing a former President of the United States in a formal setting, the correct form is Mr. LastName. This is true for other ex-officials, as well. When talking about the person to a third party, on the other hand, its appropriate to say, former President LastName. This holds for introductions, as well: A current state governor is introduced as Governor Tom Smith, while youd introduce an ex-governor as former Governor Jim Bell.
