President Joe Biden on Thursday tested positive for Covid-19, but his infection, while potentially serious, does not put him at the same risk as former President Donald Trump, who was infected just before the 2020 election.
Biden, who is twice boosted and has already started Paxlovid, is experiencing mild symptoms, according to the White House.
Here are four reasons Bidens case isnt like Trumps.
Trump Was Born In 1946 & Is Younger Than Biden
Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946. Hes 74 years old, so hes younger than Biden by about three years.

What about Hillary Clinton? Clinton was born on October 26, 1947. That makes her 72 years old. Shes the youngest of the group. But shes one year older than Elizabeth Warren, who was born on June 22, 1949 and is 71 years old. Warren made a comment during one of the Democratic debates in December that she would be the youngest woman ever nominated if she got the Democratic nomination, referencing that she was younger than Clinton.
Bernie Sanders, meanwhile, was born on September 8, 1941. That makes him 79 years old and the oldest out of Trump, Biden, and Clinton.

The comments have since swarmed social media, with many people trolling Trump. One user tweeted, “Trump’s interview with Hannity tells me that he’ll run again for sure. Notice how he stopped calling Biden old? He just said that Biden isn’t with it. That’s because Trump will be the same age as Biden is right now in 2024. He doesn’t want to make age an issue.”

Another said, “The Trump campaign said Biden was too old to be president at 78, so would not Trump also be too old at the same age?” Politics reporter Emily Brooks did the math and tweeted, “Former President Donald Trump talking about President Biden on Hannity: 78, 79 is not old. Interesting. Trump is now 74. If he ran in 2024, hed be 78 on Inauguration Day 2025, same age as Biden is now.”

Joe Biden Holds 2024 Edge Over Donald Trump Despite Midterm Woes: Poll
President Joe Biden has a slight edge over former President Donald Trump in a potential rematch in the 2024 presidential election despite his low approval ratings and concerns about Democrats potential midterm losses.
A Yahoo! News Survey conducted by YouGov found that the president enjoys a slim lead over Trump among U.S. adults and among registered voters, while the poll also contains some good news for Democrats heading into November.
The survey found that 42 percent of adults said they would vote for Biden in a hypothetical 2024 match-up, compared to 39 percent who said they would vote for Trump and 19 percent who said they were not sure.
The poll was conducted from May 19 to 22 among 1,573 adults and had a margin of error of +/-2.8 percent. Among those surveyed were 1,369 registered voters.
Biden enjoyed 44 percent support among registered voters, while former President Trump recorded 42 percent support. A further 15 percent of registered voters said they were not sure.
The YouGov poll also appeared to have good news for Democrats heading into crucial midterm elections. The survey found that 38 percent of adults said they would vote for the Democratic candidate in the district where they live, compared with 36 percent who opted for the Republican and 15 percent who were not sure.
Most Dems Want Biden To Step Aside For 2024 Election: Poll

Aides also cited political and diplomatic reasons to reorganize the extra stops as a separate trip weeks later. But the reality is that managing the schedule of the oldest president in American history presents distinct challenges. And as Mr. Biden insists he plans to run for a second term, his age has increasingly become an uncomfortable issue for him, his team and his party.
When Mr. Biden fell while dismounting a bicycle last month, White House officials ruefully noticed that it was among the top stories of the week never mind that the president works out five mornings a week, often with a physical trainer, or that many men his age hardly ride bikes anymore.
Young People Are The Most Critical Of Older Politicians Our Research Finds
Most Americans say they do not want to see Joe Biden run for reelection in 2024. Even among Democrats, only a third say they want the president to seek a second term.
It is tempting to assume thats because Americans are dissatisfied with Bidens leadership. Amid inflation worries and economic pessimism, Biden remains unpopular with the public. But when asked why they want a different Democratic nominee in 2024, Democrats are as likely to cite the presidents age as they are his job performance.
At 79, Biden is the oldest person to serve as president, and some people wonder whether he has the energy to handle the jobs demands. Others worry that Bidens age makes it difficult for him to connect with younger voters.
But even as Democrats lament Bidens age now, they nonetheless chose him as the partys nominee in 2020 from a field of other candidates who were largely younger than he. And while most voters may say they think there should be age limits for elective office, they still reelect many older candidates to office. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is 82 Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is 80 and the current Senate has the oldest average age in its history.

WASHINGTON President-elect Joe Biden turned 78 on Friday. In two months, hell take the reins of a politically fractured nation facing the worst public health crisis in a century, high unemployment and a reckoning on racial injustice.

During the closed-door portion of the meeting, Pelosi presented Biden with a white orchid, one of her signature flowers, an aide said.
The age and health of both Biden and President Donald Trump less than four years Bidens junior loomed throughout a race that was decided by a younger and more diverse electorate and at a moment when the nation is facing no shortage of issues of consequence.
Out of the gate, Biden will be keen to demonstrate hes got the vigor to serve.

All five cities are run by Democrats, and Schultz, who ran for president as a Dem in 2020, blamed mayors and governors and city councils, saying they abdicated their responsibility in fighting crime and addressing mental illness.

Recent explosive testimony from the January 6 Committee hearings has proven even further what we all already know: Donald Trump must not become president, ever again.
Which means that President Joe Biden must not run again in 2024.
Even as the country navigates the January 6 hearings, the aftermath of the mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, and a wave of controversial Supreme Court decisions including the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the basic political environment for the Democratic Party appears largely unchanged. The party seems to be careening toward a disaster in the midterms.
There is one figure in American politics who I think could shift this dynamic: President Biden. He wont do this with more speeches or press conferences or barnstorming the country. President Biden can only save the Democratsand by extension, the countryby promising that this is his final act. That is, he should announce immediately that he will not seek reelection in 2024. By doing so, I think Biden could change the political environment almost overnight.
Announcing that he wont be running accomplishes two goals. It releases candidates from the anchor he represents, tying them to a deeply unpopular president. And it allows Biden to legitimately point out that since he isnt seeking another term, decisions he makes going forward will in no way be driven by political gain.
The alternative is far less appealing.

Role In 2012 Presidential Campaign
In the 2012 U.S. presidential election, in which her husband was running for re-election as vice president, Biden played a modest role. She did not cut back on her teaching schedule and made few solo campaign appearances. This reflected her continuing distaste both for politics and for public speaking, even though the Obama campaign considered her valuable in connecting to military families, teachers, and women.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee
Biden was a longtime member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He became its ranking minority member in 1997 and chaired it from June 2001 to 2003 and 2007 to 2009. His positions were generally liberal internationalist. He collaborated effectively with Republicans and sometimes went against elements of his own party. During this time he met with at least 150 leaders from 60 countries and international organizations, becoming a well-known Democratic voice on foreign policy.
Biden voted against authorization for the Gulf War in 1991, siding with 45 of the 55 Democratic senators he said the U.S. was bearing almost all the burden in the anti-Iraq coalition.
Biden became interested in the Yugoslav Wars after hearing about Serbian abuses during the Croatian War of Independence in 1991. Once the Bosnian War broke out, Biden was among the first to call for the “lift and strike” policy of lifting the arms embargo, training Bosnian Muslims and supporting them with NATO air strikes, and investigating war crimes. The George H. W. Bush administration and Clinton administration were both reluctant to implement the policy, fearing Balkan entanglement. In April 1993, Biden spent a week in the Balkans and held a tense three-hour meeting with Serbian leader Slobodan Miloevi. Biden said he had told Miloevi, “I think you’re a damn war criminal and you should be tried as one.”

Come November, well have two septuagenarian candidates facing off. If theyre not geezers, theyre geezer-adjacent. Should we be worried?
A presidents schedule requires fortitude, patience, and intense concentration. A typical day includes a series of high-level meetings and events, including briefings by Cabinet members and White House staff, meetings with congressional and foreign leaders, and delivering remarks at various press events. There are official visits to important allied countries, international meetings such as the United Nations General Assembly each fall, and political events in key states. The president signs legislation but is also the chief executive of the largest employer in the US, a diplomat, and commander in chief of the armed forces. Its a grueling job physically and cognitively, and its natural to question whether there is an upper age limit on meeting such demands.
Looking at the health of former presidents doesnt necessarily provide any answers. Our presidents have ranged widely in age, and age hasnt always correlated with mental and physical fitness. George W. Bush was up at 5:15 each morning and in bed by 9 pm. But Bill Clinton, one of our younger presidents at just 46 when elected, had a quadruple bypass operation on his heart just three years after leaving office. Our oldest president before Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan, who was elected at 69, was diagnosed with Alzheimers four years after he left office.
