Trump Rails Against Rivals At Conservative Conference Cpac

President Trump was in his element Saturday afternoon speaking to the Conservative Political Action Conference, one of the largest gatherings of his supporters in the country.

Mr. Trump began his speech by railing against common enemies like the “fake news” and “crooked politicians,” and complained he was being treated poorly by his political enemies. He joked he had promised to be nice in his speech, but “only a fool is nice when they treat you so badly.”

Mr. Trump touted his administration’s accomplishments, such as the strike that killed Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani in January. “We took that son of a b**** out,” he said. He compared watching the mission of the strike that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to watching a movie. Mr. Trump’s speech also mentioned the peace agreement signed with Taliban militants on Saturday, aimed at bringing an end to the nearly two-decade conflict in Afghanistan.

Mr. Trump also praised his administration’s response to the spread of coronavirus, including new travel restrictions that he announced hours early. He criticized Democrats for not giving his administration enough credit for its response to the coronavirus, but then said Congress needed to work together on a bipartisan basis to address the threat.

Mr. Trump also targeted the Democratic candidates, particularly Michael Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren.

He also mentioned that Biden was likely to win South Carolina in tonight’s primary.

This February it took place in Orlando, Fla., in part because of COVID restrictions in the nations capital. It remains to be seen whether the signature event will remain outside the Acela corridor going forward.

With His Cpac Speech Did Donald Trump Send A Signal We Might Finally Be Done With Him

There was something very strange about Donald Trumps speech at CPAC on Sunday, his first public outing since departing the White House on the morning of January 20, just hours before Joe Biden was inaugurated: It was boring.

The former president is never comfortable speaking from a teleprompter, often reacting like this is the first time he has seen the words he is speaking. But Sundays performance at the Conservative Political Action Conference seemed even more stilted than usualTrumps red-meat lines delivered without the usual ferocity, his lies feeling both familiar and tired, his tried-and-true applause lines only occasionally rousing the crowd to its feet. He seemed to want nothing more than to be back on the golf course, where he had reportedly been earlier that day, making him more than a hour late for his scheduled keynote speech at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando.

Yes, Trump did tease the audience with a predictable reference to running again in 2024Who knows? I may even decide to beat them for the third time, he said, repeating his false claim that he won in 2020but then he returned again to the dutiful, wooden delivery of his prepared remarks.

Trump Speaks At Cpac Hints He May Run In 2024

The former president began his roughly 90-minute address by asking the crowd: “Do you miss me?” before reviving false claims that he had beaten President Joe Biden in November lies that inspired the deadlypro-Trump riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

“Actually, as you know they just lost the White House,” Trump said of Democrats. “Who knows, I may even decide to beat them for a third time,” he added, stopping short of declaring his 2024 plans.

Trump later launched into multiple tirades about mail-in voting, voter ID laws and the Supreme Court ruling rejecting his election challenges.

“This election was rigged,” Trump said, prompting the crowd to chant, “You won! you won!” “They didn’t have the guts or the courage to make the right decision,” he added of the high court.

Prior to Trump’s address, he won CPAC’s presidential straw poll with the support of 55 percent of the more than 1,000 conference attendees asked about who they support for the GOP’s 2024 bid. That he won with just over half of the vote, though, is notable given the event was jokingly referred to as TPAC and supporters were spotted bowing in front of a gold-hued statue in his likeness.

While 95 percent said they wanted the Republican Party to advance Trump’s agenda, just 68 percent said they wanted to see Trump himself run again.

The Republican Party is united, he said. The only division is between a handful of Washington, D.C., establishment political hacks and everybody else all over the country.
