President Donald Trump urges peace in tweet after supporters breach Capitol

Thats a very interesting question and probably it has a different answer every hour because Donald Trump used to tweet quite a lot. Trumps tweets today will not be on the news anyway for sure. However, when we were able to analyze Trumps tweets, this was the way to do it: writting from:realdonaldtrump in the following box:

Trump Allegedly Tried To Call A Jan 6 Witness

The committee also revealed that during the course of its hearings, Donald Trump has tried to contact one of the witnesses involved.

“After our last hearing, president Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation, a witness you have not yet seen in these hearings,” Republican congresswoman and committee vice-chair Liz Cheney said.

“That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call and instead alerted their lawyer to the call. Their lawyer alerted us.”

Bill Barr Predicts Justice Department Is ‘taking A Hard Look’ At Trump’s Inner Circle On Jan 6

Former Attorney General William Barr said the Department of Justice appears to be aggressively looking into former President Donald Trump and those close to him over their roles in the Jan. 6 attack.

Barr, who served as attorney general from February 2019 through December 2020, weighed in on the DOJ investigation into the deadly Capitol insurrection during an interview with CBS News Catherine Herridge on Friday.

Barr said that based on a federal grand jurys recent subpoenas of top Trump administration officials, it seems like prosecutors are taking a hard look at Trump and those around him regarding their actions related to the Jan. 6 attack.

It definitely is a significant event. It changes my view of whats been going on, Barr said. This suggests to me that theyre taking a hard look at the group at the top, including the president and the people immediately around him who were involved in this.

He also predicted to Herridge that prosecutors are going to try to get a ruling on the issue of executive privilege after former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone was reportedly subpoenaed by the Justice Department last week.

He described reports of Cipollones subpoena as the most significant.

Tweets As Official Statements

Throughout his presidency, Trump frequently appeared to issue orders through his tweets. Whether these tweets were official directives was unclear. A US National Archives spokesman said that Trump’s tweets are considered presidential records.

In 2017, the Department of Justice argued in one court case that Trump’s tweets were “official statements of the President of the United States.” In another case, the DOJ argued they were official policy statements but that the tweets were also “personal conduct that is not an exercise of state power.” The ABA Journal wrote in 2017, “There’s little caselaw on to what extent government use of social media can be considered official or a ‘public forum,’ which affords First Amendment protection to people who might be excluded based on their viewpoints.”

In 2019, the Secretary of the US Navy said he did not interpret a Trump tweet as a “formal order to act” after Trump tweeted that the Navy should not take away Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher‘s status as a Navy SEAL.

In 2020, a court asked that Trump clarify his intention after he tweeted what appeared to be an order calling for the disclosure of documents related to Russian interference in the 2016 election. In a court filing White House Chief of Staff said that: “The President indicated to me that his statements on Twitter were not self-executing declassification orders and do not require the declassification or release of any particular documents.”

In Testimony Before The Jan 6 Committee The Unidentified Former Employee Said Theyd Tried For Months To Raise The Reality That If We Made No Intervention Into What I Saw Occurring People Were Going To Die

A former Twitter employee told the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection that the company gave former president Donald Trump more lenient treatment because it enjoyed the power his stature lent to the social network.

The testimony Tuesday marked the first time a former Twitter insider has testified under oath about the companys role in giving Trump the megaphone he used to marshal an angry mob to attack the Capitol.

Trump had 88 million followers when Twitter permanently suspended him two days after the riot, citing fears he could incite further violence. But the suspension followed years of calls to ban his account due to tweets that featured harassment, conspiracy theories and viral lies.

The former Twitter employee said the company considered adopting a stricter content-moderation policy after Trump, at a September 2020 presidential debate, told the far-right extremist group the Proud Boys to stand back and stand by.

My concern was that the former president, for seemingly the first time, was speaking directly to extremist organizations and giving them directives. We had not seen that sort of direct communication before, and that concerned me, the former employee said.

Proud Boys Oath Keepers And Qanon Spread The Message

The online chatter quickly spread through mainstream and encrypted channels.

Members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, extremist groups already charged with seditious conspiracy by the Department of Justice for their role in the riot, collided with the QAnon movement, followers of a sprawling internet conspiracy theory starring Donald Trump as a Messianic central figure.

“President Trump’s tweet drew tens of thousands of Americans to Washington to form the angry crowd that would be transformed into a violent mob,” Mr Raskin said.

The committee established how General Flynn and Roger Stone, both members of Mr Trump’s inner circle, had ties to the groups going back years.

In a video, Stone was shown taking the Proud Boys’ oath, declaring himself a “western chauvinist”.

An organiser of the Stop the Steal rally, which Mr Trump spoke at on the morning of the insurrection, said she had repeatedly expressed concerns the rally was being co-opted by extremists, remarking, “the President likes the crazies”.

The night before delivering his speech, Mr Trump was still writing it, embellishing his aides’ words and, ultimately, ad-libbing many of the most inflammatory lines. A single scripted reference to Mike Pence became eight.

“You have to show strength and you have to be strong,” he said, unscripted.

“We have to fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

“I was already worked up and so were most of the people there,” he said.

Committee’s Questioning Reveals Greg Jacob Will Not Speak About Direct Conversations Between Trump And Pence

From CNN’s Annie Grayer

In a question that Jan. 6 committee member Rep. Pete Aguilar phrased to former Vice President Mike Pence’s attorney Greg Jacob about a meeting between then-President Donald Trump, Pence, and conservative attorney John Eastman on Jan. 4, 2021, Aguilar revealed a key term of Jacob’s agreement to testify that he would not discuss the direct conversations between Trump and Pence.

Aguilar was asking Jacob who served as chief counsel to Pence about what was said in that January meeting, but acknowledged that Jacob would not answer any questions about what was said between Trump and Pence directly.

So instead, Aguilar phrased his question more broadly and asked Jacob whether Pence ever wavered in his position that he could not delay certification.

Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!

March 4, 2017

In a succession of tweets on March 4, 2017, Trump stated he had “just found out” that his predecessor Obama had wiretapped the phones in his offices at Trump Tower during the last months of the 2016 election. Trump did not say where he had obtained the information and offered no evidence to support it. Trump compared the alleged intrusion to McCarthyism and Watergate. Anonymous White House officials told The Washington Post that Trump did not appear to coordinate his comments with other White House officials.

Although no evidence supported Trump’s claims, the tweets resulted in a week of media attention. Fake news websites also took up the allegations, and one falsely claimed that a warrant for Obama’s arrest had been given.

In the blog post, Twitter cited Trumps two most recent tweets as an explanation for the permanent suspension.

In the first one, Trump wrote: The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!

In the next, he tweeted, To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.

Taken together, the company determined, they were likely to inspire others to replicate the violent acts that took place on January 6, 2021, and that there are multiple indicators that they are being received and understood as encouragement to do so.

The suspension drew immediate praise from Democratic politicians.

“Thank you @twitter for taking this action,” Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., tweeted. “We must come together as a country to heal and find a common path forward.”

Republican politicians and Trump loyalists pushed back on the decision.

‘the Craziest Meeting Of The Trump Presidency’

After the US electoral college met on , confirming Joe Biden as president-elect, Mr Trump scrambled for a way to cling to power by force, according to the committee.

On December 18, a gaggle of his outside advisors including lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, and former national security adviser Michael Flynn paid a surprise visit to the White House.

What followed “quickly became the stuff of legend”, Mr Raskin said.

“The meeting has been called unhinged, not normal and the craziest meeting of the Trump presidency.”

It lasted more than six hours, with Mr Trump’s team of outsiders squaring off against White House insiders in a tug-of-war between election conspiracies and legal realities.

Mr Raskin said the two sides “traded personal insults, accusations of disloyalty to the president, and even challenges to physically fight”.

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who testified in a previous hearing, in Mr Trump’s unsupervised meeting with the visitors, who were floating outlandish false theories of election fraud.

White House lawyers, including Pat Cipollone and Eric Herschmann, entered the Oval Office and told the president the theories were bogus.

“Where is the evidence?” Mr Cipollone recalled asking, in a video snippet from his recent closed-door interview.

“It got to the point where the screaming was completely out there,” Mr Herschmann said in his own recorded testimony.

Mr Giuliani described their response as “not tough enough”.

Follow live updates on the House committee hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Federal prosecutors and congressional investigators have gathered growing evidence of how a tweet by President Donald J. Trump less than three weeks before Jan. 6, 2021, served as a crucial call to action for extremist groups that played a central role in storming the Capitol.

Mr. Trumps Twitter post in the early hours of Dec. 19, 2020, was the first time he publicly urged supporters to come to Washington on the day Congress was scheduled to certify the Electoral College results showing Joseph R. Biden Jr. as the winner of the presidential vote. His message which concluded with, Be there, will be wild! has long been seen as instrumental in drawing the crowds that attended a pro-Trump rally on the Ellipse on Jan. 6 and then marched to the Capitol.

Prosecutors have included examples in at least five criminal cases of extremists reacting within days often hours to Mr. Trumps post.

Our President will need us. ALL OF US!!! On January 6th, Mr. Reffitt wrote. We the People owe him that debt. He Sacrificed for us and we must pay that debt.
