Bookies started taking bets on Election Day as gamblers considered a question on many peoples minds: Will Melania Trump dump her husband when he is no longer president?
Soon after Joe Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election, Jimmy Kimmel even made a spoof of The Bachelorette. In it, a woman steps out of a limo to meet a roomful of nervous suitors. The camera pans from her stiletto heel, up her sparkly gown, to her familiar face its Melania Trump!
Is Melania Trump really looking forward to being rid of President Trump as much as tens of millions of Americans are? Or is it just another fantasy that Trump critics are projecting on a first lady who has succeeded in shrouding her true self in mystery?
Many who despise Donald Trump imagine that his wife does, too.They point to a few videos of her seeming to refuse to hold her husbands hand as proof. One of the great myths of Donald Trumps presidency is that Melania Trump was some kind of victim who deserved our sympathy. In reality, the first lady was just as horrible a person as her husband the woman peddled his racist birtherism conspiracy theory about Barack Obama,sported a jacket that read I Really Dont Care. Do U? to visit the victims of his family-separation policy, and, as we learned earlier this week, gave even less of a f–k about the violent insurrection that took place last January than previously thought.
The one thing that does appear to be true about Melania, though, is that she seems to despise her husband just as much as the rest of us. While she clearly decided some time ago that the trade-offs she got from marrying the guy were worth it, she quite obviously loathes him and, in the words of writer Dan Amira, is waiting for to die. And while we also know she detestedher time in the White House, a new report suggests shell begrudgingly go along with the whole thing should Trump decide to run again in 2024, which he has been threatening to do. During her time as First Lady, she participated in less than five on-camera interviews and zero print media interviews.
Melania had even lived full-time in New York during the administrations opening months so their son Barron would not have to change schools midyear.
She and Barron eventually moved into the White House and Melania gradually raised her public profile.
Melania visited young hospital patients in the US and during overseas trips with the president, often reading to them and encouraging them to do their best.
She departed Bedminister in August and returned to Mar-a-Lago where she will live full time with Barron as he attends a private school in the area.

Melania Trump Wisely Renegotiated Her Prenup
Regardless of how happy Melania Trump is in her marriage, despite the many scandals she’s endured, she’s stood by her husband. So why divorce now? For one, she’s got a renegotiated prenup. According to reporting from Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan, the reason Melania initially delayed joining her husband in the White House wasn’t just waiting for Barron to finish school, as the First Lady initially explained. In addition, Melania was hoping the delay would tip the power in her direction during the renegotiations. Originally, her prenup hadn’t been very generous, but at that point, she’d been married to Donald much longer than his previous wives. Plus, according to Jordan, Trump’s inner circle was desperate for her to return, so she could act as a calming purpose.
So why did Melania renegotiate the prenup in the first place? Divorce lawyer Christina Previte, Esq. told Nicki Swift that she believed Trump’s presidential victory was what spurred Melania to take action. “I suspect that no one ever thought Donald was actually going to win,” Previte said. “And then when he did win, Melania and everyone else realized the dramatic changes that they would need to make to their daily lives, including moving to Washington.”
Is Melania Trump ‘counting The Minutes Until Divorce’
Omarosa Manigault Newman may have been a “3-time ‘Apprentice’ loser” , but that didn’t stop Donald Trump from hiring her at the White House. As CNBC noted, she was “one of Trump’s most prominent African-American supporters during the campaign,” and, per USA Today, she was hired to work “on public outreach as an assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison.”
She put her devotion to the president on full display during an interview with PBS’ “Frontline” , saying that “every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump.” But things took a turn in December 2017 when she was fired by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly for “some pretty serious integrity violations” . After that, Trump and Newman’s relationship disintegrated as they flung insults at one another. She called him a racist, he called her a “dog,” and, in November 2020, she aimed at his personal life, saying his 15-year marriage would soon be over. Speaking with Daily Mail, she claimed, “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce.”
It wasn’t the only time Newman went after Donald and Melania’s union. In October 2020, she told British talk show, “Lorraine,” per People, that theirs is “a very strange marriage,” claiming, “what I’ve observed over the last 17 years sometimes they like each other and other times she’s repulsed by him.”

What Really Happens If Melania And Donald Trump Get Divorced
Since Donald Trump first took office, there’s been a buzz of speculation around his marriage to Melania Trump. At his inauguration, a viral video showed Melania smiling while Donald looked at her, then scowling as he looked away. And she’s seemed to refuse to hold his hand in public over and over. Publicly, the two seem to lead mostly separate lives.

So what would happen if Melania did divorce her husband? It’s unlikely she’ll be able to tell her side of the story. Trump’s second wife, , signed a prenup with an incredibly strict nondisclosure agreement, forbidding publication of “any diary, memoir, letter, story, photograph, interview, article, essay, account or description or depiction of any kind whatsoever, whether fictionalized or not, concerning the details of the parties’ marriage” . It’s likely that Melania’s prenup included a similar clause. That means anyone waiting on a post-divorce memoir or talk show circuit is likely going to end up disappointed.
Melania ‘slept On Election Night’
In the upcoming book, Ill Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House, Grisham claims that Melania slept on election night as votes came in.
I knocked a few times, quietly at first but louder at each attempt, wrote Grisham.
I finally opened the bedroom door only to find that Melania Trump was sound asleep.
I knew by now how much sleep meant to her, but still, I couldnt imagine being asleep at a time like that, she added.
Maybe she thought that someone would wake her up if Trump won.
Melania was awake later in the night and stood on stage with Trump as he declared he had won the election despite Biden’s lead.
A former aide told Politico that she “took a nap” as it was expected election night would go late.

Washington Post journalist Mary Jordan had shared in her book ‘The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump’, how even though Melania’s first prenup wasn’t very generous, the updated one ensures their son Barron won’t be left out of the family business. Experts like Elspeth Kinder, head of family law at JMW Solicitors told The Mirror how she believes Melania would remain Barron’s primary care-giver should the divorce happen. “A decision will be made based on meeting Barrons care needs and the best way to do that. We may well see Melania taking the lions share of Barrons care, particularly given his fathers schedule and myriad business interests, although we could also see Donald stepping back from his business empire for a while, particularly following the challenges of recent months, in which case he may wish to be more involved in his sons life.
Phillip Rhodes, a partner in the family law team at Slater Heelis Solicitors, told the outlet that custody could also be shared and Barron’s wishes will be taken into consideration too. “Primary custody may have been dealt with in the terms of the prenup. If not, the outcome will depend a number of factors, including Barrons parents respective abilities to meet his needs, he told The Mirror. If they can both meet his needs then there is no reason why custody couldnt be shared. However, as Barron is now 14 years old, his own views and wishes may be factors which are taken into consideration.”

As Donald Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, told The Washington Post in November 2020, the Trumps wouldn’t divorce because Melania is “very willingly complicit in his schemes and holds his beliefs as her own. Those two deserve each other.” Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania’s former friend and author of “Melania and Me,” agreed, telling People that Melania “knows who she married” and noting, “People need to wake up. They are not different.” She added that the Trumps’ bond is a strong one, revealing, “Melania is there for Donald. She is his legitimacy. She tones him down. She is the only one who can tell him how she really feels. And she does,” she added.
In January 2021, the couple celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on inauguration day, and The Times conceded that a divorce “now seems unlikely.” While one source told the outlet that they’re a good match because “they don’t believe in the lovey-dovey-type stuff,” another noted that “the likelihood is 99.99% they will stay together.” That’s because “she grew up in a pseudo-communist difficult life. Melania Trump Fired Off A ‘warning Shot’
A CNN report critiquing Melania Trump’s post-White House schedule was the last straw for the former first lady. The article, which appeared in February 2021, cited a source claiming that Melania “goes to the spa, has lunch, goes to the spa , and has dinner with Donald on the patio. Rinse and repeat. Every day.” The outlet also claimed that Melania was “bitter and chilly” towards her husband for tarnishing her reputation by denouncing election results and refusing to meet Joe Biden for a traditional hand-off of power.
Melania wasn’t having it. Her office took everyone by surprise by tweeting an official response, writing, “Mrs.Trump is no longer First Lady. She is a private citizen, mother, & wife. Sources in this article are not affiliated her nor have insight into her thoughts or daily life.” They added that “CNN’s FLOTUS Correspondent choosing to publish false gossip illustrates the media’s unhealthy obsession.”
British life coach Carole Ann Rice speculated to the Daily Star that Melania likely kept quiet in the past “out of decency and integrity to protect her man who is in the White House,” but now felt free to speak up. “With this ex-toxic friend, , she’s thinking ‘enough is enough now’ … it could also be a warning shot where she could start to get lawyers in on this,” she noted. “This could be her way of nipping it in the bud … and it also warns others to keep away.”
