DALLAS, Texas – Is Donald Trump running for president in 2024?

His speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas this Saturday could give us a hint.

Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Greg Abbott and a number of other conservatives are expected to speak during the event.

Cpac Convention Kicks Off In Dallas Ahead Of Trump Keynote Speech Saturday Night

Conservatives want a crashing ‘red wave’ of GOP candidates in November.

The annual Conservative Political Action Conference got underway Thursday in Dallas, Texas, one of the largest gatherings of conservatives and, since its inception in 1974, a crucial campaign stop for Republican hopefuls.

This year, organizers are hoping to galvanize a growing base of voters ahead of the upcoming midterm cycle with the aim of bringing a crashing “red wave” of GOP elected officials to Congress.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, far-right Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Fox News Anchor and GOP firebrand and Fox News host Sean Hannity kicked off the conference, focusing on migration, the weakness of Democrats, and big business. There was little mention of the issue of abortion despite the recent shift to a post-Roe America.

Headlining the three-day convention on Saturday night is Donald Trump who has teased running again president in 2024. The former president last spoke in late July at America First Policy Institute and Turning Point USA events in Washington where he focused primarily on promoting a harsh criminal justice agenda.

Trump Tells Cpac We May Have To Do It Again When Talking About Possible 2024 Presidential Run

Dallas Former President Donald Trump made his return to the CPAC stage on Saturday, pushing his baseless election claims, bashing his enemies, and hinting at a possible 2024 run by saying, “We may have to do it again.”

“If I stayed home, the persecution of Donald Trump would stop immediately, but I can’t do that because I love my country and I love the people,” he said.

Later in the nearly two-hour speech, he said, “America’s comeback begins this November, and it will continue onward with the unstoppable momentum that we are going to develop in November 2024.”

Trump did not announce another run for the White House in 2024, but he still comfortably won the CPAC straw poll, as he has in past years. In a straw poll with Trump removed from the list, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was the clear favorite with 65%, and Sen. Ted Cruz coming in a distant second with 6%. All others had less than 5%.

Trump pointed to the straw poll results frequently on stage, especially his approval rating among the conference’s conservative attendees.

Trump vowed to go to West Virginia, a state he won by nearly 20 points, and campaign against Manchin when he is up for reelection in 2024, as well as to campaign against Sinema when she also goes up for reelection that same year in Arizona.

“So my hands fell around another powerful guy, strong as hell … I know these people well, it’s just not my deal,” Trump said.

Why Does The Free Press Call Trumps Claims About 2020 Baseless

Trumps CPAC speech repeats false election fraud claims, teases 2024 ...

This gets a little complicated, but the long and short of it is that there has been no credible evidence found, in numerous audits, court cases and other efforts, to back up Trumps claims of widespread election fraud in any state, including Michigan, where he made those allegations.

Democratic and Republican election challengers observed the vote count across Michigan, including in Detroit, where Trump wrongly claimed that invalid ballots appeared mysteriously in the middle of the night. Officials from both parties reviewed and certified the results. Courts rejected challenges to the outcome as based on misunderstanding, conspiracy and conjecture. Post-election audits confirmed that voting machines accurately read ballots. Trumps own attorney general, William Barr, told Trump that a look into allegations of corruption in Detroit found them baseless.

A comprehensive investigation led by GOP lawmakers uncovered no evidence of widespread fraud and told voters they should have confidence that Joe Biden legitimately won Michigan. And a review in Michigan, nowhere near enough to have tipped the outcome of the election, which Biden won in the state by more than 154,000 votes.

What Did Donald Trump Say

The 74-year-old former president was cheered by supporters when he appeared on stage at the Hyatt Regency Hotel more than an hour late. Many people in the crowd were not wearing masks.

“I stand before you today to declare that the incredible journey we began together four years ago is far from over,” he said.

“We are gathered this afternoon to talk about the future – the future of our movement, the future of our party, and the future of our beloved country.”

CPAC attendees express their fears about Joe Biden’s presidency

He dismissed any idea that he might start a new political party – describing rumours he would do so as “fake news”.

“Wouldn’t that be brilliant? Let’s start a new party so we can divide our vote and never win,” he joked.

“We have the Republican Party. It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before.”

In his CPAC speech, Mr Trump repeated his false claims that he lost November’s election to the Democrats because of electoral fraud and he hinted at another run in 2024, saying: “Actually you know they just lost the White House. But who knows – who knows? I may even decide to beat them for a third time, OK?”

He excoriated the new administration, criticising Mr Biden for reversing his hard line on immigration and border security.

“We all knew that the Biden administration was going to be bad but none of us even imagined how just how bad they would be and how far left they would go,” he told the cheering crowd.

‘he Loved Looking At My Body’

Trump also boasted about how former White House doctor Ronny Jackson “loved” looking at his body.

“He was a great doctor,” Trump said. “He was an admiral, a doctor and now he’s a congressman. I said, which is the best if you had your choice?

“He loved looking at my body. It was so strong, powerful. But he said I’m the healthiest president that’s ever lived. I was the healthiest. I said, I like this guy.”

How About A Candidate For Governor

As for Michigans marquee race this election cycle the race for governor Trump has yet to endorse a candidate for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer this fall.

Politically speaking, that makes some sense, given that no front-runner has emerged. But its still entirely possible the former president could make a decision sometime, possibly soon. And whatever his delay, its not for lack of suitors.

At least seven of the candidates seeking the Republican nomination were expected to attend Saturdays rally. That includes former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, Oakland County businessman Perry Johnson, Norton Shores businesswoman Tudor Dixon, Ottawa County real estate agent Ryan Kelley, Oakland County pastor Ralph Rebandt, Livingston County evangelist Bob Scott, and Grand Rapids businesswoman Donna Brandenburg.

As for the others, Kalamazoo chiropractor Garrett Soldano is on a spring break vacation with his two young sons and is unable to attend, and Michigan State Police Capt. Mike Brown, of Stevensville, cited a prior campaign commitment. Grand Haven financial adviser Michael Markey said he also would be on a previously scheduled family vacation Saturday.

Also, as of Friday, Oakland County businessman and former auto dealer Kevin Rinke said he hadnt made a decision as to whether to attend, a spokeswoman said.

Trump delivers keynote speech at CPAC, in 180 seconds

Former President Trump addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday.

The proud patriots here today are the beating heart of the conservative movement, Trump said after taking the stage to the stirrings of The Village Peoples hit Y.M.C.A

You are the loyal defenders of our heritage, culture, our Constitution and our God-given rights. You never stop fighting for America, and I will never ever stop fighting for you.

Trump was frequently interrupted by raucous applause from the GOP activists who gathered for the CPAC conference in the Hilton Anatoles Trinity Ballroom in Dallas.

In a nearly two hour address, the former president threw out hefty chunks of red meat, coming out in favor of stop-and-frisk policing and the death penalty for drug dealers a punishment he said was used in China for such offenses.

The speech also came with the standard denunciations of old foes like Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who he branded an old broken crow and, of course, President Joe Biden.

You could take the five worst presidents in American history and put them together and they would not have done the damage Joe Biden has done to our country in two years, he said.

Trump, however, was mum on whether he would seek a rematch with Biden in 2024.

I ran twice and won twice and I did much better the second time than I did the first. And now we may have to do it again, was all he offered.

Donald Trump attacked the LGBT+ community during his speech from the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, claiming that left wing lunatics were encouraging drag shows in schools and unfair competition between women and transwomen athletes.

School prayer is banned, but drag shows are allowed to permeate the whole place, Mr Trump complained.

You cant teach the Bible, but you can teach children that America is evil and that men are able to get pregnant, he continued.

The president also briefly welcomed Riley Gaines, a former University of Kentucky swimmer who has been critical of University Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, who is trans, for competing in the womens division.

We will keep men out of womens sports, Mr Trump said in his speech, misgendering trans athletes like Ms Thomas.

Is Trumps Coming To Michigan Controversial

Trump CPAC comeback speech showed a sad little man angry at the world

It is. And heres why: Trumps endorsement of DePerno and Karamo comes ahead of an April 23 endorsement convention where the state Republican Party delegates will begin formally nominating candidates for down-ballot races, including attorney general and secretary of state. The nominees for other races, like governor or congressional seats, will be selected by the voters themselves during the Aug. 2 primary. And its not only Trump who has made endorsements, but also state party co-chair Meshawn Maddock, a staunch Trump supporter who is expected to be at the rally.

Taken together, that has quite a few Republicans either privately or publicly upset. Party leaders and officials typically dont make endorsements ahead of primaries or the partys selection, not wanting to make it seem as though they are trying to dictate an outcome. In the case of DePerno and Karamo, some Republicans are making the case that their pro-Trump stances are extreme to a point where more mainstream voters will reject them. That could keep the party from winning in what is otherwise expected to be a favorable year.
