Joe Bidens Debut Presidential Town Hall Is A Ratings Winner For Cnn & Potus

Awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Trump early last year, Limbaugh died of lung cancer Wednesday at his home in Palm Beach, FL. The 70-year-old self-described fuzzball had been a provocative powerhouse for the right on radio since the Reagan Era and was instrumental in bringing Trump to presidential prominence in 2016.

Tonight will also mark the first time Trump has had a primetime platform since the Senate voted not to convict him of high crimes and misdemeanors by inciting violence against the government of the United States, and just more than 24 hours after the semi-exiled Trump savaged Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack.

The attack by Trump on his fellow Republican was a foregone conclusion after McConnell asserted in a post-impeachment vote speech on Saturday that there is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of January 6.

If President Joe Biden is tired of talking about Trump, as he said in last nights CNN town hall, McConnell is hoping that ignoring the 45th POTUS will deny him the exposure oxygen he craves. FNC, OAN and Newsmax just burst that fantasy for Kentuckys senior senator.

Respect Free Speech!

From CNN staff

Republican Sarah Palin, Republican Nick Begich III and Democrat Mary Peltola will advance to the November election in Alaskas race for the states lone House seat, CNN projects. The fall election will decide who will win the seat for the next full term.

A fourth candidate is yet to be determined. Under Alaskas nonpartisan primary system, the top four finishers, regardless of party, advance to the general election.

The three candidates are also running in a special election to fill the remainder of the House seat, which has been vacant since Rep. Don Youngs death in March.

Palin, the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee, was backed by former President Donald Trump earlier this year. Begich won the Alaska Republican Partys endorsement in April and is the product of a powerful Alaska political family. Peltola is a former Democratic state representative.

Donald Trump: What We Learned From His Rally In Pennsylvania

Donald Trump has called President Joe Biden an “enemy of the state” at his first rally since the FBI searched his Florida resort for sensitive files.

Speaking to thousands of supporters in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the ex-president accused Mr Biden of weaponising the FBI against him.

Mr Trump branded the search “one of the most shocking abuses of power by any administration in American history”.

He was in the state to promote two Republican candidates.

Dr Mehmet Oz is running for the US Senate, and state Senator Doug Mastriano is in the race to become Pennsylvania’s next governor.

Both spoke only briefly – as always, the rally on Saturday night was really about one person: the headliner.

Mr Trump, 76, spent the first part of his nearly two-hour speech criticising the FBI search early last month.

FBI agents conducting the search found dozens of empty folders marked as classified, and top secret files were recovered from his personal office.

Mr Trump, who is being investigated over his handling of classified records, denies wrongdoing.

The former president also returned to other familiar themes at the Pennsylvania rally: false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him, attacks on rivals in the Democratic Party, and promises to “save our country”.

Several times, he called for people who deal drugs to receive the death penalty.

Here are four key things you need to know about Donald Trump’s rally.

How Trump Responds To Biden Warning Hes A Threat To Democracy

Trump will travel to a city just outside Bidens hometown of Scranton two days after the president spoke in Philadelphia and described the former presidents political movement as a grave threat to American democracy.

Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic, Biden said in Philadelphia on Thursday, clarifying on Friday that he was not saying all Trump voters posed a threat to the country.

Biden highlighted Trumps proclivity for casting doubt on election results, elevating conspiracy theories and attacking law enforcement, most recently over the search of his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Trump is likely to hit back at Biden when he takes the stage on Saturday night, according to one official close to the former president, framing the presidents remarks as a divisive attack on millions of Trump voters.

Someone should explain to Joe Biden, slowly but passionately, that MAGA means, as powerfully as mere words can get, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Trump posted on Truth Social after Bidens speech. If he doesnt want to Make America Great Again, which through words, action, and thought, he doesnt, then he certainly should not be representing the United States of America!

It also serves as a preview of a potential 2024 presidential race as Trump mulls another bid and Biden indicates he will seek reelection.

Supporters Think Trump Was ‘set Up’

Trump Speech Channel

The crowd was on his side when it came to the FBI’s search.

This region supported Mr Trump in the 2020 election, even though Pennsylvania overall slipped from his grasp and chose Mr Biden.

Two supporters had already procured “Defund the FBI” T-shirts to wear to the rally.

Gail McCloskey, from the city of Altoona, nearly a three-hour drive away, told the BBC she thought the FBI visit was “a set up”.

Meanwhile, Kelly Borgogelli, 60, who had driven four hours from Buffalo, New York, to see Mr Trump, said: “They’re just going after him for pure hate.”

Asked if she believed any of the multiple accusations made against Mr Trump over the years – that he incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol last year, that he improperly pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate his political enemies, or that he falsified claims of election fraud in 2020 – Mrs Borgogelli replied she did not.

“They’ve never given us any proof,” she said.

Her companion, Maureen Ewart, 62, said if the justice department actually charged Mr Trump, the country would be “divided”.

“It will be crowded out there, the streets will be full,” Ms Ewart said, emphasising that she did not condone violence – but feared any criminal charges against the former president could spark civil unrest.

At one point, Mr Trump himself claimed that the latest investigation into his possession of government documents was “going to produce a backlash” the likes of which the country had not seen before.

Trump Stops Short Of Declaring His Candidacy

Since leaving office, speculation has grown over if and when Trump would announce his plan to run again for a second term, as is permitted under the US constitution.

But while Tuesdays speech resembled those the former reality television personality made on the campaign trail in his presidential bids in 2016 and 2020, Trump on Tuesday stopped short of declaring his candidacy to be the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

I always say I ran the first time and I won, then I ran a second time and I did much better, Trump said. We may just have to do it again. We have to straighten out our country.

He added the tease: I look forward to laying out many more details in the weeks and months to come.

The New York Times and several US media outlets have reported Trump has told allies he was weighing announcing his candidacy as early as this summer.

Trump Calls Biden ‘enemy Of The State’ During 1st Rally Since Mar

EX US President Donald Trump is in another big Trouble | Capital TV

It was the former president’s first rally since the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago.

In his first rally since the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago home last month, former President Donald Trump took the stage in Pennsylvania for nearly two hours during which he responded to the raid on his home last month and President Joe Biden’s remarks earlier this week.

“The shameful raid and break-in of my home Mar-a-Lago was a travesty of justice,” Trump said of the search. “The FBI and the Justice Department have become vicious monsters.”

Trump was in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on Saturday campaigning in support of Doug Mastriano, who is running for governor against Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is taking on Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman in the U.S. Senate race.

Trump praised both candidates while emphasizing the importance of taking back the House and Senate this November.

“Two months from now the people of Pennsylvania are going to fire the radical left democrats and you are going to elect Doug Mastriano as your next governor, and you are going to send my friend Oz, he is a great guy, to the US Senate,” Trump said. “You’re going to elect an amazing slate of true America first Republicans to Congress.”

And though Saturday’s rally was in support of his Pennsylvania candidates, Trump spent the vast majority of his speech focused on his own issues– mainly with the FBI, the Department of Justice, fellow Republicans and Joe Biden.
