What Is Trump’s Nickname For Joe Biden

Why Do They Call Him Sleepy Joe

Joe Biden VS Donald Trump Through The Years | Joe Biden For President 2020

A lot of Trump’s nicknames seem to play into whatever narrative he’s trying to construct in order to discredit his opposition. For Hillary Clinton, it was the imagery of her as a corrupt politician. He constantly played into the collective distrust many people had of the Clintons and he’d bring up the email scandal where she had emails hosted on a private server.

Something that both he and members of his administration and White House aides did as well after he took office, although there are some slight differences between the two usage cases.

The name of “Sleepy Joe” comes from Trump’s suggestion that Joe Biden is suffering from a cognitive decline of his mental faculties.

Joe has gone on record saying some either off-color or unintelligible things, something that’s been attributed to a stutter that he suffers from. Cognitive mental decline isn’t uncommon in individuals who are Joe’s age, either. The man was born in 1942 and is nearing 78 years of age at this time of writing.

There are reports of Ronald Reagan often asking members of the Secret Service staff at times where he was, but once they reminded him, he’d be “back on track” so to speak.

So “Sleepy” Joe was part of the narrative that Donald Trump and his administration were lining up in their attack of Joe Biden, questioning the mental fortitude of the DNC’s top presidential pick and if he would be capable of actually running the country and holding coherent discussions.

Why Donald Trump Just Brought Back This Harsh Nickname For Joe Biden

Being president is an exhausting job, so spare a thought for poor Joe Biden, who’s being endlessly mocked on social media after appearing to nod off while attending the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland. As The Independent reports, Biden was caught on camera, in a clip shared to Twitter by a Washington Post journalist, seemingly catching some Zs during the opening sessions. As a speaker told those gathered they all have the “power to make decisions and reach agreements which will affect the lives of generations to come,” the commander-in-chief was seen shutting his eyes for around 20 seconds. An aide then gently roused him, causing Biden to turn his head and pay attention once more.

Biden is the oldest person to hold the office of president . Biden has been widely criticized for allegedly being too old to be mentally competent enough to occupy the highest office in the land, with critics even accusing him of being senile. Former President Donald Trump, whom Biden beat by a wide margin in the 2020 election, frequently suggested, on the campaign trail, that his opponent had mental issues. Trump typically cited Biden’s slightly slow speech, the result of a stutter about which Biden has been open over the years. Now that the current president has been caught out taking a quick cat nap, for whatever reason, Trump is seizing the opportunity to call him out once more.

The Next Kyle Rittenhouse Case May Involve Joe Biden

Kyle Rittenhouse could argue President Joe Biden defamed him with a tweet apparently linking him with white supremacists, according to a lawyer who won a defamation case for the student Nicholas Sandmann.

Todd McMurtry helped Sandmann, a former Kentucky high school student, reach a settlement with CNN after he was portrayed as the aggressor in an apparent confrontation in January 2019 with a Native American activist on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

A longer version of the video debunked media reports that Sandmann, a student at Covington Catholic High School, was the aggressor but not before a number of media outlets portrayed the incident as being racially charged.

McMurtry told Fox News that Biden could be accountable for his tweet on the presidential campaign trail on September 30, 2020, in which he said then-President Donald Trump had “refused to disavow white supremacists on the debate stage.”

Biden’s message was accompanied by a video clip in which Rittenhouse is pictured holding a weapon.

On Friday, Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges related to the fatal shooting of two men during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 25, 2020.

“What you take from that tweet is that Kyle Rittenhouse was using his rifle and engaging in white supremacist misconduct,” McMurtry told Fox News, “so it’s actionable. Not necessarily going to win, but it’s actionable.”

Newsweek has contacted Rittenhouse’s attorney, , for comment.

Trump’s Nickname For Joe Biden May Have Flopped

President Trump has a penchant for tagging his political opponents with simple, but biting nicknames. The one he chose for his presumptive Democratic presidential challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, doesn’t seem to have landed like those in the past, however, Axios reports.

It’s well-known Trump refers to Biden as “sleepy Joe,” but so far, at least judging by Google search trends, voters apparently don’t associate the moniker with Biden all that much. Trump dubbed his 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton, as “crooked” Hillary, which prompted far more searches than “sleepy Joe.” As analysts noted, there are likely several reasons for this. Regardless, it could be a small, but telling data point that shows Trump’s patented insults may not have the same affect in 2020 now that the novelty has worn off.

We can discuss why this is and that’s a long and complicated conversation that involves a lot of factors but what’s clear is that Trump’s attacks on his opponent aren’t landing the way they did 4 years ago. #axiosam

Of course, it could just be that “sleepy” isn’t particularly evocative, which is perhaps why the Trump campaign has recently starting trying out “corrupt Joe Biden.” Read more at Axios.

Letters To The Editor Nov 14 2021

President Biden on Tuesday seemed fixated on former President Donald Trump in a Virginia stump speech for Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor.

Biden mentioned Trump by name 24 times during a brisk, 17-minute speech in a park near the Pentagon in northern Virginia, attempting to use his predecessors legacy to bash Republican Glenn Youngkin, who is tied with McAuliffe in polls in a state Biden won by 10 points just a year ago.

Trump has neither campaigned for Youngkin nor made an endorsement in the race.

But the suddenly tight Virginia contest with Youngkin has become a test of Bidens political strength ahead of next years midterm elections and a possible rematch with Trump in the 2024 presidential race and comes as Bidens approval ratings and polling on core issues have nosedived.

The Virginia race has focused heavily on Biden as the presidents approval ratings drop amid setbacks including high inflation and a supply-chain bottleneck following a chaotic US pullout from Afghanistan, a continued Mexico border crisis and a resurgence of COVID-19 infections caused by the more contagious Delta variant.

The Virginia governors race and close gubernatorial contest in New Jersey, also next week, are seen as a test of support for national Democrats. A defeat could sap momentum for Bidens social spending and infrastructure legislation in Congress and hint at trouble for Bidens party going into the 2022 midterms.

Trump blasted his former Senate ally as stupid and a fool and accused him of incompetence in a long, tangled statement that jumped from expressing displeasure over Republican votes on a procedural motion related to raising the debt limit in October, to Congresss passage of the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill this month, to the ongoing Democratic talks over a social spending bill.

Trumps scathing statement follows several similar attacks in recent days in which he lashed out at Old Crow McConnell for voting for the hard infrastructure bill along with 18 other Senate Republicans and 13 House Republicans.

Now Trump is increasing the level of vitriol by slapping Broken onto his nickname for the GOP leader.

McConnell is a fool and he damn well better stop their Dream of Communism Bill and keep his Senators in line, or he should resign now, something he should have done a long time ago. Use the Debt Ceiling like it should have been used, you Old Broken Crow, to do so would hurt our Country far less than this horrible Bill, Trump declared in a statement released through his Save America PAC.

The other 12 House Republicans who voted for the bill are also facing repercussions.

Donald Trump Used An Embarrassing Incident To His Advantage

According to the New York Post, former President Donald Trump sent out an email blast mocking Joe Biden for seemingly falling asleep during a speech at the COP26 climate change conference. “Even Biden couldn’t stand hearing so much about the Global Warming Hoax, the 7th biggest Hoax in America, followed closely behind by the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, Russia, Russia, Russia, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2 and, of course, the ‘No Collusion’ finding of the Mueller Report,” he railed.

Trump added, “Biden went to Europe saying Global Warming is his highest priority, and then promptly fell asleep, for all the world to see, at the Conference itself. Nobody that has true enthusiasm and belief in a subject will ever fall asleep!” Trump nicknamed his rival “Sleepy Joe” during the 2020 presidential campaign, in a desperate bid to discredit Biden.

Why Trumps New Nickname For Biden Could Backfire

Among the many important decisions he makes on a daily basis, President Donald Trump is attempting to get a new nickname to stick to his election opponent Joe Biden. While he usually opts for a the classic jab, Sleepy Joe, on Tuesday he threw another name into the mix: Basement Biden. The only problem other than that name-calling is juvenile and unproductive is that Trumps new nickname for Biden isnt actually an insult.

Based on his Twitter history, Trump has been trying out this new name all summer. He first introduced the origin story of the nickname on June 11 when he accused Biden of refusing to leave his basement. Its probably just a total coincidence that Trump began accusing Biden of hiding out in his basement a week after the viral news story that Trump was whisked off to a bunker beneath the White House amid nationwide protests creating the nickname bunker boy. But, Trump took another jab this morning, inaccurately suggesting that Basement Biden is no longer polling well.

Great! Biden is finally being forced out of his basement. Now youll be able to see what is going on up there. He may do some limited campaigning. Basement Biden is no longer playing well in the Polls!

Senate Foreign Relations Committee

Biden was a longtime member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He became its ranking minority member in 1997 and chaired it from June 2001 to 2003 and 2007 to 2009. His positions were generally liberal internationalist. He collaborated effectively with Republicans and sometimes went against elements of his own party. During this time he met with at least 150 leaders from 60 countries and international organizations, becoming a well-known Democratic voice on foreign policy.

Biden voted against authorization for the Gulf War in 1991, siding with 45 of the 55 Democratic senators he said the U.S. was bearing almost all the burden in the anti-Iraq coalition.

Biden became interested in the Yugoslav Wars after hearing about Serbian abuses during the Croatian War of Independence in 1991. Once the Bosnian War broke out, Biden was among the first to call for the “lift and strike” policy of lifting the arms embargo, training Bosnian Muslims and supporting them with NATO air strikes, and investigating war crimes. The George H. W. Bush administration and Clinton administration were both reluctant to implement the policy, fearing Balkan entanglement. In April 1993, Biden spent a week in the Balkans and held a tense three-hour meeting with Serbian leader Slobodan Miloevi. Biden related that he had told Miloevi, “I think you’re a damn war criminal and you should be tried as one.”

The Senate House Majority leader was accused by Don Blankenship of being a cocaine smuggler but Mitch, instead of being offended by the moniker, actually used it to his campaign’s benefit and managed to raise around $70,000 from selling t-shirts that light-heartedly adopted the nickname.

Joe Biden didn’t do the same with the “Sleepy” nickname, however, and the t-shirts that were printed were very much antagonistically designed to depict the former vice president in a negative light.

Other articles of clothing depict some of his more controversial moments, like when Joe Biden said “You ain’t black” if you aren’t voting Democrat on an episode of The Breakfast Club.
