Trump’s approval ratings on the rise

Voxs German Lopez is here to guide you through the Biden administrations burst of policymaking. .

As for Trump, Bidens 42.9 percent approval rating right now is only slightly higher than Trumps 42 percent on the eve of the 2018 midterms, when Republicans lost 40 House seats.

The one potential silver lining for Biden is that the trajectory of Trumps numbers shows that some improvement in the second year is possible, albeit rare. Trumps approval rating hit its lowest point in 2017 but improved by about 5 points over 2018, which likely helped him avoid an even worse midterm defeat. It is possible that if conditions in the country improve, Bidens numbers could rebound.

Of course, things could also get worse.

Trumps Popularity Falls Among Republicans According To New Poll

Former US President Donald Trump

Donald Trumps popularity among registered Republicans has fallen in the 100 days since the end of his presidency, according to a recent poll.

The NBC News poll found that Republican support for the party was greater than the support for the former president, who was favoured by 44 per cent of Republicans.

The figure for registered Republicans in favour of the party over the former president, in comparison, was at 50 per cent.

It was the first time in almost two years that support for the Republican party was greater than that for Mr Trump, NBC News reported, and the first time support for the GOP reached 50 per cent against the former president.

Among all respondents to the poll, Mr Trump was favourable for 32 per cent, and unfavourable for 55 per cent a slight worsening of Januarys figures, when the former president was 40 per cent favourable and 53 percent unfavourable among all registered voters.

When compared to the poll for November, Mr Trump was also 9 per cent less favourable and 2 per cent more unfavourable among all respondents to the NBC News poll.

The findings follow reports of Mr Trumps continued control over the Republican party from his Mar-a-Lago resort in southern Florida even after election defeat, the end of his single-term in office and his alleged support for the 6 January insurrection on the US Capitol.

Among all adults, as few as 21 per cent said so.

Republican Approval Doesnt Matter As Much As Trump Seems To Think It Does

According to Gallups latest numbers, a mere 27 percent of Americans currently identify as Republicans, compared to 29 percent who identify as Democrats and 40 percent who identify as Independents.

So while Trumps approval rating among Republicans is no doubt strong, it doesnt necessarily mean a whole lot especially when compared to his broader approval rating, which is mired in the low 40s, and his bleak numbers in hypothetical matchups against the 2020 Democratic frontrunners.

But Trumps falsehoods about his Republican approval rating do say something about the ease and shamelessness with which he lies. The president is not only willing to cherry-pick polls to portray himself as more popular than he really is, but in this case hes apparently willing to pluck numbers out of thin air.

Trump Approval Remains Stable In New Nbc Poll With Republicans Unmoved After Capitol Violence

WASHINGTON Donald Trump is the only president in history to be impeached twice this time for his role in encouraging a deadly assault on the Capitol by his supporters but he is poised to leave office with a job approval rating that is fairly typical of his entire time in office.

A new NBC News poll found that 43 percent of voters nationwide gave Trump a positive job approval rating, just barely down from 45 percent who said the same before the November election and the 44 percent who approved of his performance shortly after he took office in 2017.

Even If It Were True 94 Percent Republican Approval Would Not Be A Record

Trump

Its not the case that Trumps approval rating among Republicans is 94 percent, but even if it were, it wouldnt be the record he claims.

As Politifact detailed in June, when Trump claimed during a news conference with then-British Prime Minister Theresa May that I have a 90 to 94 percent approval rating, as of this morning, in the Republican Party an all-time record, he was discounting George W. Bushs GOP approval rating in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, which hit 99 percent. In fact, Trumps Republican approval rating during his first 30 months in office lagged behind not just George W. Bush, but George H.W. Bush as well.

So Trumps claim is a lie about a lie. But that sort of thing is par for the course for him.

Multiple States Hold Key Primaries As Coronavirus Pandemic Floyd Protests Continue

WASHINGTON On the day of George Floyds funeral in Houston and as coronavirus cases continue to rise, several states are holding primaries to determine which candidates will represent their parties come November.

Here are the races the NBC News political unit are paying closest attention to:

Georgia Senate: The top primary contest to watch is in Georgia, where several Democrats are running for the right to challenge Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., in the fall.

The favorite in this Democratic primary is 2017 congressional nominee, Jon Ossoff, and his top challengers are former Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and businesswoman Sarah Riggs Amico. The Cook Political Report lists the race as Lean Republican for November.

If none of the candidates break 50 percent, the Top 2 will advance to an Aug. 11 runoff.

South Carolina Senate: Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Democrat Jaime Harrison receive nominal primary opposition ahead of their expected November showdown in the Palmetto State. Harrison has raked in significant fundraising ahead of todays contest.

Nevada 3rd District: Republicans will pick their nominee in Nevada to face Democratic Congresswoman Susie Lee, D-Nev., in the competitive Nevada district.

Nevada 4th District: Also in Nevada, incumbent Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford, who recently admitted to having an affair with a former Senate staffer, is receiving a primary challenge from multiple Democrats, as well as Republicans who are trying to reclaim the seat.

Whats dragging down President Bidens approval rating?

Everyone.

And everything.

Mr. Bidens approval ratings have declined on nearly every issue and among nearly every demographic group in national surveys over the last two months, as the promise of a return to normalcy has given way to rising inflation, a simmering pandemic, gridlock in Washington and chaos on the border and in Afghanistan.

The presidents approval ratings have sunk into the low-to-mid 40s, putting him into rather lonely historical company. In the era of modern polling, only Donald J. Trump had a lower approval rating at this early stage of his term.

Theres no evidence the damage to Mr. Biden is irreparable.

Many presidents have won re-election after watching their ratings fall to similar depths during their first two years in office. Voters can have a short memory. And while President Bidens losses have been pronounced among reliable Democratic constituencies, such as young, Latino and even Black voters, those groups can also be relatively easy for Democrats to win back.

Trump Approval Rating By State 2021

The presidential job approval ratings in the U.S. were introduced in the late 1930s by George Gallup to gauge public support for the president during their term. Approval ratings are determined by polling given to a sample of people.

Like most surveys, poll results may be inaccurate due to samples that self-select. However, statisticians generally accept the approval rating as a factual indicator of the peoples feelings about the president.

As of April 2020, President Trumps approval rate is 46.0% and his disapproval is at 49.6%.

Polling Average Put Biden’s Approval Rating Higher Than 39%

Measuring President Donald Trumps Approval Ratings Against His Tweets | NBC News Now

Experts say approval ratings should be calculated by looking at an average between polls not a single poll. On the day the claim was made, the polling average for Biden’s approval rating was 45.2%.

“The best practice to look at multiple polls and not to fixate on an individual poll, which can be cherry-picked to make inaccurate arguments,” Barry Burden, director of the Elections Research Center and professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said in an email.

The website FiveThirtyEight rates how different polls vary in terms of accuracy and statistical bias. It calculates approval ratings for presidents based on a weighted average that takes into account poll quality and uncertainty.

According to that polling average, Biden’s approval rate was 45.2% on the day the claim was posted.

The Facebook post appeared to refer to an Economist/YouGov poll conducted Sept. 4-7. It reported 39% of American adults approved of Biden. YouGov noted this was the first time the majority of Americans disapproved of Biden during his presidency.

However, Burden told USA TODAY this poll was “unusually low.”

“In the last month YouGov has also reported approval ratings of 44% and 50%,” he said. “Taken as a group it is more accurate to say that Biden’s rating is hovering in the mid-40s.”

A Silver Lining For Biden

The news isn’t all gloomy for Biden.

A drop in support happens, after all, to every president in their first year. And it’s not always politically fatal.

The decline in Biden’s approval rating, according to Gallup , is 15 percentage points from his post-inauguration honeymoon, which is about the same experienced early on by Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.

And they all won re-election.

Biden’s decline isn’t quite as dramatic as one president who lost re-election Gallup had Jimmy Carter sliding 24 points in his first year.

Democrats also sound optimistic they’re close to a deal to pass their budget bill with its tax, health, climate and family policies.

Could this produce a bounce?

In the recent past, Trump’s numbers did get a lift when he signed the biggest domestic legislation of his presidency, a tax-cut bill in 2017.

Trump got a popularity bounce after he signed a major tax bill in 2017, seen here. It was temporary. Could the same happen with Biden?

But it was temporary.

Trump’s Republicans got thrashed in the next year’s midterms.

And the bottom line is that’s the historical norm. The average loss of House seats for a president’s party, since the 1970s, in a first midterm, is 28.

Democrats only have a four-seat advantage.

So unless things change, one year from now, in the midterms of Nov. 8, 2022, Republicans will have new power in Washington.

The Biggest Defection: Working

Biden has lost the most with voters who have the least.

The steepest plunge in support is among voters making under $50,000 US a year while support has been steadier among those earning over $100,000.

Morning Consult shows Biden’s approval down 18 points among those in that lower-income bracket, from 61 per cent in

That polling firm also shows his approval down 20 points among Black voters 17 among Hispanic voters and 13 among white voters.

One pollster said there’s a sense Biden hasn’t gotten much done.

Biden promised better access to health care, child care, climate policy, police reform, voting rights and immigration reform.

Those are the voters saying, ‘Where are the things we were promised? Why is this taking so long? Why are there roadblocks here?’ said Patrick Murray, director of New Jersey’s Monmouth University Polling Institute.

These are the groups of voters saying, ‘I helped the Democratic Party get elected. What is the Democratic Party doing for me?’

Those voters aren’t satisfied with procedural excuses, he said.

Two senators have been most responsible for watering down Biden’s legislative plan: Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, in the foreground, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia, in the background.

It may be a fact that passing bills through the U.S. Senate usually requires 60 per cent of the votes, and Democrats don’t have that many seats, so instead they’re trying to cram whatever they can into a budget bill they can pass with a simple majority.

Us President Is Being Forced To Deal With Some Of The Same Dynamics As His Predecessor

Former US president Donald Trump has overtaken his successor Joe Biden in favourability ratings among American voters in what has been described as a remarkable turnaround.

The Times reported that, just eight months after the transfer of power, Trump has a positive rating of 48% compared with Bidens 46% in a Harvard-Harris poll. Back in February, Biden had a 56% positive rating compared with Trumps 43%.

The team that surrounded Trump during his reign also fared better than Bidens circle. Some 55% of respondents said that Mike Pence was a better vice president than his successor, Kamala Harris, and 63% believed that Mike Pompeo was a better secretary of state than Antony Blinken.

A number of other surveys have discovered the same trend, with a poll in the bellwether state of Iowa putting Bidens approval rating at just 31%, down from 43% in June.

Meanwhile, after Biden dropped to a new low of 43% approval in the monthly Gallup survey, down six points from August and 14 since his inauguration in January, the pollster pointed out that among elected presidents since World War Two, only Trump has had a lower job approval rating than Biden does at a similar point in their presidencies.

The Daily Mail agreed that voters regret voting for Biden after his disastrous exit from Kabul, as well as revelations that the US mistakenly killed 10 people, including one aid worker and seven children, after a botched drone strike meant to kill an ISIS-K terrorist.

Why Donald Trumps Approval Rating Is So High Among Republicans

Donald Trump

As the U.S. experienced mass unrest over police brutality and racial inequality, a huge spike in unemployment, and on the current count more than 116,000 coronavirus deaths, President Donald Trumps approval rating took an unsurprising turn for the worse.

But there is one group of voters who have remained squarely in Trumps corner in spite of the triple crises facing the nation: Republicans.

Over the past few months, the president has frequently gloated about his high party-approval figures. Tweeting about his approval rating among Republicans on Tuesday night, Trump wrote: 96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Thank you!

As The Washington Post reported at the end of May, the presidents evidence-free claim to have a 96 percent approval rating among GOP voters is not grounded in actual polling data.

Nevertheless, his rating among the Republican base has been consistently high over the last three months.

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll of 653 Republicans found 83 percent approved of Trumps record, a fall of only 5 percentage points from the pollsters March survey. The latest poll, conducted between June 12 to 14, has a 2 percentage point margin of error.

So how has the presidents approval rating among Republicans stayed so high, even amid unrest over race relations, unemployment, and public health?
