Donald Trumps Final Approval Rating Is Stark Contrast To His First
The level of disapproval of Donald Trump as he leaves office marks a stark contrast to when his term began. Trumps term officially ends on Wednesday, January 20, with President-elect Joe Biden to be inaugurated at midday.
His tenure ended in controversy following the violent events of January 6 and his subsequent impeachment in relation to themwith which he became the first-ever president to be impeached twice.
A Senate trial looms in which the upper chamber may convict Trump this time around, on the charge of inciting an insurrection, and it could also bar him from holding office.
FiveThirtyEights tracker, which is a weighted average of approval polls, has Trumps final average disapproval rating at close to a peak at 57.4 percent. The highest it ever reached was 58.1 percent, just last week. His last approval average had him at 39.2 percent.
When the tracker began, on January 23, 2017, Trump was at 41.3 percent disapproval and 45.5 percent approval.
RealClear Politics tracker showed similar results.
Its average, starting January 27, 2017, had him at 44.3 percent approval and 44.2 percent disapproval at that initial juncture. In its last average from January 19, Trumps rating was placed at 57 percent disapprove and 40 percent approve.
Polling has indicated support among Republicans for this, with many still seeing him as having a positive effect upon the GOP.
Joe Bidens Approval Ratings Are Worse Than Every Recent President
Roughly nine months into his presidency, Joe Biden is on the verge of writing his name into the history books and not in a good way.
The latest polling from Gallup pegs the Presidents approval at just 42%, the lowest of his term to date and the second-lowest of any president Gallup has measured at this moment in their presidency over the last almost five decades.
Heres a look at Bidens approval in comparison to his predecessors in Gallup polling :
- Ronald Reagan 53%
- Jimmy Carter 54%
Bidens numbers have fallen precipitously in Gallup polling over the last several months. As recently as June, a solid majority of the country approved of the job he was doing. That number began to collapse at the end of the summer dropping from 49% approval in August to 43% in September and have stayed at that low number for the bulk of the fall.
The reasons for Bidens polling decline is clear: A confluence of events including a disastrous pullout of American troops from Afghanistan, the surge in Covid-19 cases due to the Delta variant, ongoing supply chain issues and a focus on the continued struggles of the President and Democrats in Congress to pass the bulk of his domestic agenda.
You get the idea. The evidence is pretty conclusive and none of it points to good news for Democrats in 2022.

How Do Americans View Bidens Handling Of The Pandemic And The Economy
Most Americans think Biden is handling the coronavirus pandemic far better than Trump. Sixty-two percent approve of how Biden has managed the U.S. response so far. Another 30 percent say they disapprove.

The publics approval of Bidens actions far exceeds that earned by Trumps leadership during the pandemic. His highest approval rating was 18 points lower, at 44 percent in March 2020, the same month the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic and Trump labeled it a public health emergency. From there, his approval on handling the pandemic dropped as low as 37 percent, recovering slightly to 39 percent by the time he left office in January.
But Americans have less faith in Bidens ability to heal the nations wounded economy compared to Trump. While 46 percent of U.S. adults approve of how Biden has managed the economy, another 41 percent do not approve. During Trumps last days in office, half of Americans said they approved of the former presidents handling of the economy, a sentiment thatTrump leveraged throughout his presidency and in his 2020 campaign for a second term.
Keanu Adams, 25, of Vacaville, California, said he voted for Biden and hopes the president recognizes the country needs more than public health and economic fixes right now.
The nation needs to uproot systemic problems to address what is really wrong, Adams said.
Only About A Third Say The Us Considers Their Interests In Foreign Policy
Despite the sharp uptick in favorable views of the U.S. and its president in 2021, most people surveyed continue to say the U.S. doesnt take into account the interests of publics like theirs when making international policy decisions. Across the 16 publics, a median of 67% say the U.S. does not take their interests into account too much or at all, while only 34% say Washington considers their interests a great deal or fair amount.
Across the European countries surveyed, there is a fair amount of variation in this assessment. As few as 16% in Sweden say the U.S. considers Swedens interests when making foreign policy, but roughly half or more in Greece and Germany do. In Germany, this represents a 32 percentage point increase since 2018, when this question was last asked. Despite this uptick, replicated across many of the European nations surveyed in both years, majorities in the region say the U.S. does not consider their interests when making foreign policy decisions.
Asian-Pacific publics also tend to say Washington discounts their interests, including 85% among New Zealanders. Around seven-in-ten in Australia and South Korea, as well as 54% in Singapore, concur that the U.S. does not consider their interests when making foreign policy.
Still, the predominant sentiment, going back to 2002 when the question was first asked, is that the U.S. does not consider the interests of countries like theirs. The election of Joe Biden has not fundamentally changed that.

Roughly Half Of Americans Approve Of What Biden Has Done So Far
About half of Americans 49 percent said they approve of how Biden has served as president so far, less than two months into his presidency, according to the latest poll. But as was the case with his predecessor, whose last year in office was marred by the pandemic, much of that support comes from people who identify as members of his own party. Among Democrats, Bidens approval rating was 87 percent. But only 11 percent of Republicans and43 percent of independents said they approved of the president.

Another 42 percent of Americans disapprove of what Biden has done so far as president, including 81 percent of Republicans and 43 percent of independents.
Still, Biden currently has a higher job approval rating than former President Donald Trump ever reached during his four years in the White House, according to Marist polling data. And support for Biden seems to be growing. In this latest poll, 52 percent of Americans said they had a favorable impression of him. Thats up from 41 percent in October 2019 in the midst of Trumps first impeachment. Since then, Biden has inched up in favorability.
Republicans in Congress face steeper job disapproval, with 64 percent of Americans saying they do not like what they are seeing, an increase of 6 percentage points over January 2019, including 38 percent of Republicans and 85 percent of Democrats.

US President Joe Bidens approval rating has bounced back to its highest level, leading his predecessor Donald Trump by six points from its summer time lows, a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll has revealed.
Biden is leading Trump in a 2024 rematch by the widest margin since March, the poll said, adding that the presidential run was still years away and did not mean that Biden is the winner.
The survey of 1,634 US adults conducted from September 2-6 immediately after the combative primetime speech in which Biden blasted “Trump and the MAGA Republicans” as “extremists” who “threaten the very foundations of our republic”, showed that if the next presidential election “were held today”, 48 per cent of registered voters would choose the incumbent, while 42 per cent would choose the former.
Biden’s new 6-point lead is 3 points larger than his edge in the previous Yahoo News/YouGov survey from late August and 4 points better than his average lead across all Yahoo News/YouGov surveys conducted between April and July .
The poll’s margin of error is approximately 2.6 per cent, media reports said.
The last time Biden led Trump in a Yahoo News/YouGov poll by 6 percentage points or more among registered voters was in March 2022 . The time before that was in May 2021 .
Notably, Biden’s support today matches those previous highs.
Meanwhile, more Americans still disapprove than approve of Biden’s performance in office, the poll observed.

How Trumps Second Impeachment Will Work
To be sure, the national polls underestimated Trumps performance in the national election, which he lost by 4 percentage points after trailing in the RealClearPolitics average by 7 points and the FiveThirtyEight average by 8 points.
But the latest polls conducted over the past week all show significant drops in support for Trump from the previous measurements with one notable exception: Rasmussen Reports. The Republican-leaning automated pollster, which has typically produced stronger results for Trump, has shown that the presidents approval ratings have been virtually unaffected by last weeks events.
Trumps final approval rating is far from settled, given the congressional sprint to impeach him in the closing week of his presidency. But he is poised to go down as one of the most unpopular presidents upon leaving office.
Barack Obamas approval rating rose in the final weeks of his presidency, following Trumps upset victory in the 2016 election. According to theRealClearPolitics average, Obamas approval rating finished at 57 percent, rising about 5 points between the election and Trumps inauguration in January 2017.
Trump is likely to finish closer to Bushs final ratings: 34 percent in the finalGallup poll the best historical record for modern presidential approval and 29 percent in the closingRealClearPolitics average.

In the United States, presidential job approval ratings were first conducted by George Gallup to gauge public support for the president of the United States during their term. An approval rating is a percentage determined by polling which indicates the percentage of respondents to an opinion poll who approve of a particular person or program. Typically, an approval rating is given to a politician based on responses to a poll in which a sample of people are asked whether they approve or disapprove of that particular political figure. A question might ask: Do you approve or disapprove of the way that the current president is handling their job as president?
Like most surveys that measure opinions, individual poll results may be inaccurate. Many unscientific approval rating systems exist that show inaccurate statistics. Examples that self select, such as online questions are of this type however, the aggregate approval rating is generally accepted by statisticians as a statistically valid indicator of the comparative changes in the popular United States mood regarding a president.

Approval Ratings Of Past Presidents
Donald Trump
When former-President Trump left office, his disapproval rate stood at fifty-seven percent, with 38.6 percent of the public supporting him. The highest approval rating Trump had while in office was in In April, Congress passed the CARES Act which distributed the first round of stimulus checks and bolstered unemployment benefits for the more than twenty-million workers who lost their jobs.
However, a few short months later, Donald Trumps approval rating took a nose dive to its lowest point in his presidency as he left office —in part as a result of the events on January 6th.

When former-president Obama was elected, he entered office with a historic approval rating of sixty-four percent. However, with the impacts of the financial crisis led this level of support to began to fall. Aside from a few peaks in popularity, the majority of Obamas term, the disapproval rate was above fifty percent. However, unlike Donald Trump, he left office with a net positive approval rate.

Biden Approval Rating Dips 5 Points In Past Week: Poll
President Bidens approval rating dropped 5 points in the past week, according to a new Politico-Morning Consult poll.
The poll found that 41 percent of respondents approved of Bidens job performance, down from 46 percent last week. The results are a reversal of recent weeks, during which Bidens approval rating has risen significantly following a series of legislative successes.
Biden last month signed bipartisan legislation to increase investment in semiconductor manufacturing and to expand health care for veterans who have been exposed to burn pits while serving. He also signed a major climate, tax and health care package into law.
The Politico-Morning Consult poll found the lower approval rating comes largely from a decline in Bidens approval among Democrats. Approval from members of the presidents party dropped from 85 percent in last weeks poll to 80 percent this week.
Bidens approval among independents stayed roughly the same, while approval among Republicans also dropped slightly.
The margin of error for overall approval level was 2 points, and the margin for the party breakdowns was 4 points.

The American publics views of former President Donald J. Trump have remained remarkably stable across a number of different measures in recent months, even as he faces multiple investigations and as he remains a central figure in the midterm elections, according to the most recent New York Times/Siena College poll.
Voters held nearly identical views from those earlier in the summer on whether they had a favorable view of Mr. Trump, whether they thought he had committed serious federal crimes, and whom they would support in a hypothetical 2024 Trump-Biden matchup.
Overall, 44 percent of voters viewed Mr. Trump favorably, and 53 percent viewed him unfavorably . The recent poll was fielded early this month, after news of the Justice Departments inquiry into Mr. Trumps handling of confidential documents but before the New York attorney general announced she was suing Mr. Trump and his family business.
Donald Trump’s Approval Ratings Flounders Amid Jan 6 Revelations
Donald Trump has faced a dip in his popularity according to a Fox News poll taken after the first January 6 hearing.
The opinion poll was conducted between June 10 and June 13, according to a Fox News report. This is days after the first January 6 hearing that was held on June 9.
The poll, which also highlighted that President Joe Biden has seen his popularity fall, showed the fluctuation in the former president’s popularity.
According to the poll, 55 percent of registered voters asked have an unfavorable opinion of Trump, compared to 44 percent holding a favorable opinion.
The poll also highlighted data taken from previous polls of the former president.
In February, 54 percent of registered voters held an unfavorable opinion of Trump, this is compared to 45 percent favorable. In December 2021, Trump received the same percentage of favorable and unfavorable votes.
According to the poll, the last time Trump held such a small favorable opinion vote of 44 percent was in late October 2020. In this poll, 55 percent of participants held an unfavorable opinion of him.
In June 2018, 45 percent of Fox News poll participants held a favorable opinion of Trump while 53 percent held an unfavorable opinion.
