How Much Does It Cost To Protect Donald Trump?

45th President Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team for his upcoming impeachment trial quit following a dispute about the cost of his defense, according to Axios.

Five of Trump’s impeachment attorneys abruptly quit just over a week before his Senate trial is set to kick off on Feb. 8. CNN and other outlets have reported that lead attorney Butch Bowers and four other lawyers he assembled for the team walked out over a disagreement about the ex-president’s defense strategy but Axios reports that the team split following a blow-up with the “notoriously stingy” onetime reality TV host over legal fees. Trump, who is charged with inciting the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot, was “livid” after Bowers told him that the legal effort would cost $3 million, according to the report, even though Trump has raised over $170 million from supporters, ostensibly to fund his post-election legal efforts.

Trump and Bowers initially agreed that the latter would be paid $250,000, which “delighted” the billionaire, according to the report. But that fee did not include additional costs for other lawyers, researchers and legal fees. Trump was “infuriated” after Bowers told him the total budget would be $3 million, though he ultimately haggled the attorney down to $1 million while planning to use his political action committee to pay for “audiovisuals, a rapid-response team and legislative liaison.”

WASHINGTON The Government Accountability Office set out in 2017 to calculate the total cost to taxpayers of President Trumps trips to Mar-a-Lago, his resort in Palm Beach, Fla., but said in a report issued on Tuesday that it could come up with only a snapshot of the expenses because the Trump administration did not respond to requests for more information.

The agency ended up studying only four trips the president took over a one-month period in 2017 and found that government agencies, including the Defense Department and the Secret Service, spent some $13.6 million an average of over $3 million for each trip to transport and protect the president, with the bulk of the expenses going to cover the cost of military aircraft and boats during that time.

The tab, officials say, is most likely higher since the total expenses that administration members racked up traveling, dining and staying at the resort are not known for the four trips, much less for the 218 days of his presidency that Mr. Trump has spent at one of his properties. Of that total, 78 of the days were spent at Mar-a-Lago.

The G.A.O. officials who compiled the report said the White House did not respond to three separate requests for information that might help them flesh out travel costs, while the Secret Service and the Defense Department had not submitted regular accounting of expenses to Congress, as is required by the Presidential Protection Assistance Act of 1976.

Trump Enjoys Top Covid Care That Could Cost Ordinary Americans Millions

Experts say presidents five-star round-the-clock treatment would result catastrophic debt for many people

When most Americans are admitted to the hospital, one concern beyond health is usually at the top of patients mind: the cost of their treatment.

One American who does not have to worry about this is Donald Trump.

We have the best medical equipment, we have the best medicines, said the US president, addressing Americans after he was released from Walter Reed national military medical center, without mentioning the 210,000 Americans killed by Covid-19.

Youre going to beat it. Dont let it take over your lives, he advised.

But Trump was able to skip many of the formalities the vast majority of Americans would confront if faced with a similar situation. This may leave many of them wondering just how much would the best medical care have cost me?

The answer, like everything else in American healthcare, is fiendishly complex and very expensive.

This is truly a catastrophic medical event in terms of going to a hospital and getting lots of specialized care, said Sara Collins, vice-president for healthcare coverage at the Commonwealth Fund. The result would be for most Americans catastrophic medical debt for many people.

Americans pay more for healthcare than any other nation, including during a pandemic. At the same time, Americans rarely know how much a given treatment will cost even as they receive it.

I would not be surprised if were to exceed $1m

Trump Administration Predictions Of Tcja’s Impact

The analysis provided by the White House looked at the combined effect of the tax cuts and Trump’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget. The budget planned to boost growth through increased infrastructure spending, deregulation, and welfare reform.

Congress approved the budget plus additional appropriations. Trump asked for $1.15 trillion in discretionary spending Congress approved $1.3 trillion.

The Treasury report projected that the tax cuts and the budget would boost economic growth to 2.9% per year for the next 10 years. The report said that prosperity generated by the cuts and the budget would boost tax revenue enough to offset the tax cuts.

Requesting tickets to a Trump rally is easy, but just having tickets doesnt guarantee entrance to the event. The Trump campaign often gives away more tickets than there are seats in the venue.

In Montana, some families told the Great Falls Tribune that theyd driven hours with the hope of seeing the president at a July 5 MAGA rally only to be turned away at the door when the arena where Trump was speaking reached capacity. The Four Seasons Arena has a capacity of 6,600. A similar thing happened at a rally in West Virginia in August.

How Much Each Of President Donald Trump’s Golf Rounds Cost Taxpayers

Through October 2020, Donald Trump’s golf rounds have cost an estimated $140 million to taxpayers. Of course, that’s an estimate based on a variety of factors, but we can’t give you an exact cost for each round. We don’t have perfect information to tell you with certainty how much all of the factors cost together. We can estimate the cost per round, which is driven by Secret Service usage, transportation costs for motorcades and Air Force One, as well potential Coast Guard fees.

Trump’s golf rounds cost the American taxpayer approximately $600,000 on average.

The most expensive rounds Trump plays are in Florida, followed by at Trump National Washington, D.C., in northern Virginia, then at Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey.

Each time Trump plays golf, the American taxpayer handles some cost. Each and every time, Trump is flanked by Secret Service, who not only protect him while he’s on his golf properties but also secures the golf club in question to make sure no uninvited guests try to infiltrate the grounds. That costs money. However, it’s unclear the all-in Secret Service cost of the manhours to protect and secure. We do know Secret Service agents are paid approximately $50 per hour, but we don’t know how many agents there are on his detail at a golf club. However, these would be considered sunk costs anyhow, as these agents incur annual salaries regardless of where and when they’re doing their routine work.

Impact Predicted By Other Organizations

In examining the likely impact of the TCJA, other organizations came to dramatically different conclusions about the likely impact of the new tax law. Their analysis predicted increases in the federal debt and deficit.

The Joint Committee on Taxation analyzed the tax cuts alone, independent of the FY 2018 budget. This analysis found that the TCJA wouldincrease the deficit by $1 trillion over the next 10 years. In creating this prediction, the committee expected the economy to grow 0.8% per year.

The Tax Foundation came up with a second conclusion, predicting that the TCJA would add almost $448 billion to the deficit over the next 10 years. It looked at the effect of the tax cuts themselves and the TCJA’s elimination of the Affordable Care Act mandate.

The Tax Foundation analysis stated that the tax cuts would cost $1.47 trillion in decreased revenue while adding only $600 billion in growth and savings. The plan would also:

  • Boost economic growth by 1.7% per year
  • Create 339,000 jobs
  • Add 1.5% to wages

Trump’s Care May Have Cost The American Taxpayer Around $100000

The New York Times did a tally and based its estimates on Trump’s three days in the hospital. It includes the cost of multiple coronavirus-related tests, oxygen, medicines from the experimental antibody treatment Regeneron, which has yet to hit the market remdesivir, an Obama-era drug which NPR has priced at $3,120 for a five day course or patients with private insurance and $2,340 for those with Medicaid or Medicare and steroids. After all this, a person could expect to pay upwards of $100,000 for the course of treatment.

The paper also warns that patients could expect extra surprise bills to come as a result of line items, including helicopter transit and extra coronavirus testing. However, Trump’s fees are underwritten by the federal government, and he, like all presidents, gets the best care and the best medicines for free.

How Much Would President Trump’s Executive Orders Cost

Update 8/10/20: We have revised our estimates downward to reflect our understanding from the final text of the memorandum that the payroll tax deferral is available only to workers who make less than $4,000 biweekly rather than only wages below $4,000. We also slightly reduced our student loan estimate. As a result, we estimate the total near-term impact is $165 billion.

President Trump signed four memos and executive orders this afternoon increasing unemployment benefits, deferring payroll taxes, extending student loan deferral, and discussing housing assistance. We estimate that these four orders will provide approximately $165 billion of near-term funds. Because much of the money was already allocated and deferred taxes would be paid later, however, the net cost will likely total $10 billion absent further policy changes.

These estimates are rough and preliminary, and will be revised as more information becoems available. The orders were released today, and their ultimate cost depends on many details yet to be determined. In particular, the cost of unemployment provisions and payroll tax deferral will depend on final regulations issued, and the actions of various states and employers.

The three memoranda and one executive order are summarized below:

Bill Clintons Vacation Costs

  • Estimated vacation costs: At least $7.8 million

Former President Bill Clinton spent 345 days on vacation over eight years, according to CBS News White House reporter Mark Knoller 171 days at Camp David, and 174 other days on vacation. This includes four trips to Marthas Vineyard and another to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, according to PolitiFact.

Clintons total expenses havent been collected publicly, but comparing his Vineyard-related travels to data collected by Judicial Watch on Obamas 2015 Vineyard trip can provide a rough estimate. Over 17 days, Obamas family spent $465,420 in Secret Service expenses, not to mention round-trip Air Force One flights at approximately $179,750 per hour.

Dividing those Secret Service expenses by the day about $27,377 and factoring in Clintons five summer flights gives a ballpark cost of about $7,639,598. Remember, this is using Obamas 21st-century rates rather than Clintons 1990s costs. The Clintons also saved a lot of money by staying for free at the private residence of Democratic fundraiser Richard Friedman, and they didnt travel nearly as far as the Obamas did.

Trump Family Travel Cost $140000+ In Just The First Month Post

How Much Does Trump

Trumps adult children have cost taxpayers a lot of money over the years, but this time, its different. CREW got records from the Secret Service that show that in just the thirty days after Donald Trump left the presidency, his childrens travel cost taxpayers more than $140,000. That figure, however, does not include charges at Trump properties in Bedminster, Palm Beach and Briarcliff, New York, which would likely bring the actual total much higher.

The reason these charges are different is that they all occurred after Joe Bidens inauguration, and, ordinarily, a former presidents children are no longer entitled to Secret Service protection. Donald Trump took the unusual step of extending the protection for his family members and three top appointees by six months, giving them that much more time to funnel money to his own properties. CREW filed a Freedom of Information Act request in February to get a snapshot of the costs.

An additional six months of protection was likely to be quite costly, because, as CREW previously reported, the Trump family took 12 times as many protected trips as the Obama family did per year. The new records reveal that in just thirty days, the Trump children maintained their breakneck speed of travel, and racked up significant hotel and transportation bills for the Secret Service. The transportation amounted to $52,296.75, and hotel costs totalled at least $88,678.39, according to the records.
