GREENVILLE, N.C. Donald J. Trump, the former president of the United States, commutes to New York City from his New Jersey golf club to work out of his office in Trump Tower at least once a week, slipping in and out of Manhattan without attracting much attention.
The place isnt as he left it. Many of his longtime employees are gone. So are most of the family members who once worked there with him and some of the fixtures of the place, like his former lawyer Michael D. Cohen, who have since turned on him. Mr. Trump works there, mostly alone, with two assistants and a few body men.
His political operation has also dwindled to a ragtag team of former advisers who are still on his payroll, reminiscent of the bare-bones cast of characters that helped lift a political neophyte to his unlikely victory in 2016. Most of them go days or weeks without interacting with Mr. Trump in person.
But when he spoke on Saturday night to the North Carolina Republican convention in what was billed as the resumption of his rallies and speeches, Mr. Trump was both a diminished figure and an oversized presence in American life, with a remarkable and many say dangerous hold on his party.
Jason Miller, an adviser to the former president, agreed on Mr. Trumps control over the party.

It is rumored he will announce plans to run for president in 2024.
Sources said he will go between “warming up to the idea of a 2024 run, and walking right up to the line of announcing another campaign.

Why Is Trump In North Carolina
First, Trump narrowly won the state in 2020 but he’s still very popular among Republicans. And with the GOP looking to win back control of Congress in 2022, most candidates are looking for Trump’s endorsement. Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has even been rumored to be interested in the U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina.
But if Trump has plans to run for the White House again, he has some work to do. A recent NBC News poll found that less than one-third of Americans have a favorable view of the former president.
Trump is scheduled to speak Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

What Is Donald Trump Planning
The former president is eyeing up Corey Lewandowski to head up the new super PAC, Fox News reported.
Lewandowski served as Trump’s campaign manager in 2016, before being fired in the 2016 presidential primaries.
He remained close with the president, acting as an outside adviser, before becoming a top adviser on Trump’s 2020 re-election run.
The decision to start the new venture was reportedly made during a meeting last week in when Trump met with his political team.
At the meeting, according to the outlet, was 2020 campaign managers Bill Stepien and Brad Parscale, senior adviser Jason Miller, former White House social media director Dan Scavino, and his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.

Is Trump Running For Reelection In 2024
Trump has publicly flirted with another run for president in 2024. And because Iowa is expected to again kick off the Republicans’ presidential nominating process with its first-in-the-nation caucuses, his visit here is amplifying speculation that he could enter the race.
Trump easily won Iowa in the 2016 and 2020 general elections, and he remains popular among many Republicans here.
A September Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll showed Trump’s favorability ratings among all Iowans are higher than they ever were while he was president. Today, 53% of Iowans have a favorable view of Trump and 45% have an unfavorable view. Another 2% are not sure how they feel about Trump.
Among Iowa Republicans, he is viewed favorably by 91% and unfavorably by just 7%. Another 2% are unsure. Those marks put Trump in league with Reynolds, who is viewed favorably by 90% of Iowa Republicans. And it surpasses Grassley, who is viewed favorably by 81% of Iowa Republicans.
The numbers come as Trump begins to reengage with the state that is expected to kick off the 2024 presidential nominating process for Republicans. He has personally reached out to Kaufmann, and his PAC has hired two Iowa-based operatives to join its ranks.
