Tiktok User Reserves Seats For Trump Rally She Has No Intention To Attend

Trump and some of his high-profile supporters had bragged in the days before the rally that more than 1 million people had signed up to attend. Trump Campaign Manager Brad Parscale tweeted on June 14 that Saturday is going to be amazing after saying that more than 800,000 people had signed up for tickets at the 19,000-seat Bank of Oklahoma Center.

Approximately 6,200 people attended the rally on Saturday, according to the Tulsa Fire Department.

Parscale downplayed the impact of the online campaign in a statement Sunday.

Leftists and online trolls doing a victory lap, thinking they somehow impacted rally attendance, dont know what theyre talking about or how our rallies work. Reporters who wrote gleefully about TikTok and K-Pop fans without contacting the campaign for comment behaved unprofessionally and were willing dupes to the charade, Parscale said.

Parscale said that the campaign weeds out bogus reservations and that phony ticket requests never factor into our thinking. He blamed the coronavirus, ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and the media for the low turnout.

Ticket Holders To Trump Rally Turned Away

Trump tickets now available

Hundreds of ticket holders were denied entry Wednesday to President Donald Trumps Keep America Great rally in Greenville many stayed on to view the event on an outdoor screen, others left frustrated after hours in the heat.

About 8,000 were allowed to enter Minges Coliseum many more had to watch the rally from the large-screen monitor in the shadow of Minges and the ECU Pirates Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

Some of the fuming Trump supporters heckled protesters stationed in a free speech zone outside the area as they made their way to their cars. The outbursts led to some heated exchanges that Greenville Police Department officers were able to quickly defuse. No injuries were reported.

Not all Trump supporters turned away reacted negatively. David Nelson from New Bern was bummed but he still stuck around to watch the president speak on the monitor.

We had tickets and we couldnt get in, Nelson said. Its kind of distracting when you see all the supporters walking away because they cant get in. I saw a thousand people it seemed like, walking away, Nelson said.

Nelson said although he was disappointed, the strong turnout was encouraging.

I just think it shows is going to win. did all they could do I guess. Ive gone to all his rallies since he started and Ill go to the next one, Nelson said.

Another ticket holder who came from Raleigh also was turned away.

Ferrell praised President Trumps policies and said the economy is doing well.

Is Trump Running For President In 2024

Trump has publicly flirted with another run for president in 2024. And because Iowa is expected to again kick off the Republicans’ presidential nominating process with its first-in-the-nation caucuses, his visit here is amplifying speculation that he could enter the race.

Trump easily won Iowa in the 2016 and 2020 general elections, and he remains popular among many Republicans here. This is his first trip back to Iowa since losing the general election to Democrat Joe Biden.

But other national political figures have been making early treks to the state as well, including former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and U.S. Sen. of Florida.

The Cost Of Attending A Trump Fundraiser

Attending a rally isnt the only way to see President Trump in person. There are also private fundraising events. But to get into one of these, youll need to open your wallet. Tickets to a reception with Trump in Syracuse in August started at $5,000, which included a picture with the President.

If you wanted to attend a Trump event in Washington D.C. held at the Trump International Hotel in September, youd have to spend $35,000 just to get into the dinner where Trump was scheduled to speak. A photo op cost $70,000 and entrance to a closed-door roundtable with the President cost $100,000.

How Tiktok Users Trolled The Trump Campaign Into Expecting A Tulsa Rally Crowd That Never Came

Users on the social media app TikTok are claiming some credit for the disappointing turnout at the president’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, over the weekend, after a weeks-long campaign to artificially inflate the number of people registered to attend. The prank may have helped lead the Trump campaign to boast about more than a million people seeking tickets for the rally while only about 6,200 ended up filling seats.

In the weeks leading up to the rally, TikTok users started spreading the idea of registering for free tickets with no intention of going in hopes that they would take seats away from Trump supporters, and leave the president speaking to a hollowed-out stadium.

One of the most prominent posts about the prank came from 51-year-old Mary Jo Laupp, an Iowa woman who worked on Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign.

“I recommend that all of us who want to see this 19,000-seat auditorium barely filled or completely empty, go reserve tickets now, and leave him standing alone on the stage,” she said. “What do you say?”

Laupp said she was particularly outraged by Mr. Trump’s decision to host the rally in Tulsa the site of a racist massacre of about 300 black people in 1921 on , a holiday celebrating the emancipation of slaves. After initial uproar, the campaign rescheduled the rally for the day after Juneteenth.

“Shout out to Zoomers. Y’all make me so proud,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

Gravitas: How TikTok sabotaged Trump’s rally

Black Lives Matter of Nashua and Black Lives Matter Manchester announced Wednesday they are co-organizing a protest hours before the rally.

The protest will take place at Portsmouth International Airport from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“This will be a peaceful protest before Trump is scheduled to speak. We are working to coordinate medical professionals and peacekeepers. Please wear a mask and social distance,” the organizations said in an email.

In a sign of virtual protest, The Boston Globe reports that TikTok and Twitter users are targeting the Trump rally, signing up for tickets even though they have no intention of attending. It’s a tactic they also used ahead of Trump’s Tulsa rally in an effort to drive down attendance and embarrass the president.

You Might Not Get To See The President

Requesting tickets to a Trump rally is easy, but just having tickets doesnt guarantee entrance to the event. The Trump campaign often gives away more tickets than there are seats in the venue.

In Montana, some families told the Great Falls Tribune that theyd driven hours with the hope of seeing the president at a July 5 MAGA rally only to be turned away at the door when the arena where Trump was speaking reached capacity. The Four Seasons Arena has a capacity of 6,600. A similar thing happened at a rally in West Virginia in August.
