By November 6, a growing number of Trump officials had admitted that the incumbent’s loss was probable. On that day, election-calling organization forecast that Trump had lost the election to Biden.

While states like Iowa and Ohio didn’t budge much in 2020, a few purple states shifted to be a bit bluer in the last election. She’s all but a lock to win a second term in 2022’s gubernatorial race, so accepting a VP nomination would mean abandoning her term, but Iowa has been solidly red for the past several cycles, so fear of flipping the governor’s mansion blue is unlikely to cause her any concern. Reynolds is in her 60s. While not exactly youthful, it’s a lot closer to the median age of presidents than Trump, who will be 78 in 2024.

Jones signed on as a false elector in the scheme to squeeze former Vice President Mike Pence to reject electoral votes on January 6th. Because of this, he is now a target of the Fulton County district attorneys criminal investigation into Trumps broader efforts to interfere in the 2020 election.

Should he win, Jones will claim a major prizehe would serve as president of the Senate in Georgiaa plum position for someone seeking to do election-flipping, should the opportunity present itself in 2024. As president of the state Senate, Jones could guide the Georgia legislature in appointing its own electors, irrespective of the vote count, as many Trump-aligned activists hope that Republican state legislatures will do in the future.

It worked.

Governor Kemp, apparently, has no problem with that.

The Next Big Question: Who Would Be His Running Mate

Earlier this year in March, Trump appeared to rule out former Vice President Mike Pence as his running mate should he opt to mount a third bid for the White House in 2024.

“I dont think the people would accept it,” Trump told the Washington Examiner of the pair running together again.

Trump cited friction stemming from the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, in which he lost to President Joe Biden yet repeated a false claim that the election had been stolen from him, and suggested their differences are too stark to overcome heading into 2024, according to the conservative news website.

The possibility of Pence partnering up with Trump once more has become even less realistic following evidence that has come out of the recent Jan. 6 House Committee hearings in which details of Trump supporters calling for the death of Pence during the deadly Capitol Riot surfaced.

The New York Mag interview is the first time Trump has hinted at running for office since September 2021 when he spoke in Manhattan to the 17th police precinct and the neighboring fire station on the anniversary of 9/11.

As soon as he opened the floor for questions, a reporter asked if he would be running for president again in 2024.

He said he knows what he wants to do, but campaign finance laws prohibit him from saying too much at this point.

“I think youre going to be happy. Let me put it that way, OK,” Trump said. “I think youre going to be very happy.”
