As I rode my bicycle along nearly 1,000 miles of rural roadways this past election cycle, I kept a rough tally of the yard signs I spotted along the way. Trump trounced Clinton in that count even if the polls rarely showed him ahead during the final months of the campaign.
During the campaign, Trump’s name was no longer reserved for luxury hotels, golf courses and casinos. It was emblazoned on signs dotting the yards of thousands of average-sized houses across the country. For just $15 per sign, homeowners could showcase their association with his brand.
While Trump never developed the ground game touted by Clintons team, he mastered the “name game — getting his name posted on more property than his rival.
Some Trump supporters weren’t satisfied with the flimsy 18-by-24 plastic yard signs and instead built custom billboards in their front yards. Signs too big to be plucked by any neighbors.
But as Trump signage grew in the countryside, there were moves to scrap it in many cities. Amid reports of lackluster occupancy rates at Trump hotels this election cycle, the company announced that its new hotels would not bear the Trump name, replacing it with Scion. Hundreds of tenants in Manhattan signed an online petition titled Dump the TRUMP Name in hopes that the emblazoned gold letters would be removed from their apartment buildings.

Orlando Hoa Says Man Banned From Neighborhood
ORLANDO, Fla. An HOA says a landscaper has been banned from working in an Orlando neighborhood after a Facebook video showed him running over a Donald Trump campaign sign with a lawnmower.
A resident of the Citrus Chase subdivision posted the video to Facebook, saying, “Look at what our landscapers did….. I understand people may not like Trump but I have my rights to put this sign in my yard and it was no accident see for yourself!”
The video, which is time-stamped April 19, shows the landscaper mowing over the sign before backing up, placing the sign flat on the grass and apparently running it over at least one more time.
The Chase Citrus HOA later replied to the man’s Facebook post, writing, “The guy has been removed from the crew, he will not be allowed in our development any more.”
Chase Citrus is located near State Road 435 and West Sand Lake Road, west of I-4.
According to code enforcement, there are several rules concerning campaign signs in yards.
Requires written permission of the land owner Maximum allowable copy area is 16 square feet per lot Maximum height shall be 8 feet Not permitted within right-of-ways
Also, a political sign shall not be erected more than 90 days prior to an election or referendum, and it shall be removed within 10 days after the vote on the election, referendum or campaign issue, code enforcement said.

Trump Yard Sign Rigged With Razor Blades Left Town Worker Needing 13 Stitches
A town employee in Michigan had to get 13 stitches after he sliced three fingers on razor blades attached to the bottom of a Trump 2020 campaign yard sign.
The 52-year-old municipal employee in Commerce Township, about 40 miles northwest of Detroit, was asked to remove signs that violated a city ordinance, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Signs are required to be 33 feet from the center of roadways, and a political sign in the yard of a home was 9 feet too close to the street.
“When he went to remove one of the signs, he was cut by razor blades that had been attached to the bottom edge of the sign,” the sheriff’s office said. “Both signs removed from that location had several razor blades taped all along the bottom edge. He received lacerations to three fingers which required medical attention.”
Commerce Township Supervisor Dave Scott told NBC affiliate WDIV in Detroit that his employee initially thought he had been electrified and then looked at his hand and saw that he was “bleeding aggressively.”
The man drove himself to a hospital where he received 13 stitches in his fingers. Scott said he was angry about the incident.
“Why would someone set a booby-trap sign to harm someone? A child could have picked it up, he told the outlet.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident, and according to WDIV, officials in the township said they may seek legal action over the incident.
Caught On Cam: Trump 2020 Campaign Signs Stolen From Bel Air Yards
BEL AIR, Md. — Harford County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Bel Air homes over the weekend after someone allegedly stole several Trump-Pence 2020 campaign signs from yards. The man was caught on Nest camera stealing the campaign sign from the front yard of one home.
Deputies were called to the 100 block of Duncannon Road on Aug. 8.
In the Nest video, you see a man drive up to the home, walk over and pull down something on the front of the home. Then, he gestures to the camera and then grabs the Trump 2020 campaign sign and rips it and takes it with him.
In a post on Facebook, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office said:
“We all have differences of opinion. Let’s respect those opinions and not step into somebody else’s yard to commit a crime by stealing a campaign sign. It’s a violation of free speech and downright disrespectful of your neighbors.
This weekend deputies were called to the 100 block of Duncannon Road in Bel Air for the report of stolen campaign signs. Through investigation, it was determined political signs were stolen from several yards in the same area and someone was able to provide us video of the suspect. If you recognize this individual, please give us a call.”

Joe Biden Donald Trump Campaign Yard Signs Pilfered In Florida County
In picturesque Jefferson County, Florida, campaign lawn signs for both Joe Biden and Donald Trump have been stolen or defaced as part of what one local Democratic Party member calls an uncharacteristic undercurrent in an otherwise calm and quiet tightly knit community.
“I’ve seen it in the way people react to signs and having to wear masks,” said Gladys Roann-Watson, chair of Jefferson County’s Democratic Executive Committee. “It seems like a form of subtle aggression toward people who are not supporting the administration that’s in there now.”
Roann-Watson said numerous people have told her that many of the 200 Biden signs the county Party distributed recently are disappearing from their yards overnight.
For their part, the GOP has come out strongly against taking other people’s yard signs.
“The Republican Party of Florida does not condone the defacing or theft of campaign signs regardless of candidate or party affiliation,” said Alia Faraj-Johnson, spokesperson for the Republican Party of Florida. “Simply putit is against the law and anyone that witnesses a person engaging in that activity should immediately report it to law enforcement.”
Several residents have complained that several Trump campaign signs have been taken from where they were planted, and at least one Biden sign was spray-painted black, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office told the Monticello News & Jefferson County Journal earlier this month.
