Classified Email On Unclassified Systems
In November 2019, the Daily Beast reported on emails obtained by American Oversight that show former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley had sent multiple emails containing classified information over an unclassified system because she had lost her password for such protected communications. Those emails, sent shortly after a July 2017 North Korean missile test, contained a number of redactions indicating that the content of fell under the Freedom of Information Acts classified national defense exemption.
Since the 2016 campaigns relentless focus on Clintons email practices seemingly did little to instill Trump appointees with a sense of the importance of their legal obligations or with the recognition that they are not above the law American Oversight is continuing to investigate the Trump administrations record-keeping practices and personal email use.
Fall 201: Michael Cohen Begins Plans For A Trump Tower In Moscow
Also in September of 2015, Cohen began communicating with Felix Sater, a Russian-born Trump business associate, about a plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. The idea of a Trump property in the Russian capital had been around for decades, but after Trump announced his presidential bid, Sater reached out to Cohen and set up a meeting for September, according to a detailed report on the project from BuzzFeed News.
After the meeting, Sater emailed Cohen multiple times in October 2015 to let him know about a meeting with a developer, and then to say that Saters associates would be meeting with Putin and a top deputy and that he had secured financing from VTB Bank, a Russian bank that was under U.S. sanctions at the time. On October 13, 2015, Sater sent a letter of intent, signed by a Moscow developer, to Cohen and asked him to get Trumps signature. And on Oct. 28, the day of the third Republican primary debate, Trump signed the letter.
Sater and Cohen continued to trade emails about the progress of negotiations over the next few months. On November 3, 2015, Sater bragged about his Kremlin connections, saying: I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected, according to emails first published by the New York Times. Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it, he continued. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.

Spring 201: Cohen And Russian Businessman Felix Sater Discuss A New Ukrainian Piece Plan With Ukrainian Politician Andrii V Artemenko
The plan entailed the US lifting sanctions on Russia in exchange for Russia pulling its support for pro-Russia separatists in Ukraine, but allowing Russia to continue its annexation of the Crimean Peninsula unchallenged.
Artemenko said he discussed the proposal with Cohen and Sater “at the time of the primaries, when no one believed that Trump would even be nominated.
Manafort’s lawyers also said he and Kilimnik discussed the peace plan, which was later passed on to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, on at least one occasion.
The Ukrainian ambassador to the US told The New York Times, “the plan could have been pitched or pushed through only by those openly or covertly representing Russian interests.

In June 2018, ProPublica reported that Trump Organization properties had received “at least $16.1 million…from his campaign, Republican organizations, and government agencies” since late 2015. In October 2019, OpenSecrets found that total spending on Trump properties had increased to $16.8 million even when just considering payments made by the Trump campaign and other Republican political campaigns and PACs .
During the first three months of 2017, the Trump 2020 campaign reported spending $6.3 million, of which nearly $500,000 was to companies owned by Trump. In the Trump 2020 campaign’s first two years , it paid more than $890,000 in rent for space in Trump Tower, while the Republican National Committee paid $225,000. As of October 2020, the campaign’s committees had directed more than $17.9 million of campaign donor money to Trump properties, while the Republican National Committee had paid $3.0 million.

May 21 201: Donald Trump Jr Dines With A Director For Russia’s Central Bank At The National Rifle Association’s Annual Convention
Alexander Torshin, a former Russian senator from Putin’s party and a former senior official at Russia’s central bank told Bloomberg he had dinner with Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, at the annual convention for the National Rifle Association.
The White House confirmed they had met, but denied that they dined together. Torshin also reportedly tried to meet with Trump, an offer turned down by Jared Kushner.
Torshin is now accused of directing an effort to infiltrate American conservative organizations including the National Rifle Association and the National Prayer Breakfast to promote Russian interests, traveling everywhere from Alaska to Tennessee in his efforts.
He has since been sanctioned from the US Treasury Department, meaning he can no longer travel to the US.

Early May 201: Trump Campaign Advisor Roger Stone Meets With A Russian Offering Him Dirt On Hillary Clinton In Exchange For $2 Million He Declines
The 2016 meeting between Stone and the Russian, Henry Greenberg, was not disclosed to congressional investigators and unknown until the Washington Post reported on it in June of 2018.
Stone reportedly told Greenberg that Trump “doesn’t pay for anything.”
In text messages between Stone and Trump campaign communications official Michael Caputo, Stone said Greenberg “wants big & $ for the info–waste of time.”
Greenberg, who has also used the last name Oknyansky, has previously worked as an FBI informant but was not doing so at the time of the meeting.

Donald Trump was the 45th president of the United States. Former Vice President Joe Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election on November 3, 2020. Biden received 306 electoral votes, while Trump received 232.
Trump assumed office on January 20, 2017, and filed to run for re-election on the same day. He crossed the delegate threshold necessary to win the Republican nomination1,276 delegateson . He was formally nominated at the Republican National Convention on August 24, 2020.

New York had 95 delegates at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Of this total, 81 were district-level delegates . New York’s district delegates were allocated on a proportional basis a candidate had to win at least 20 percent of the vote in a district in order to be eligible to receive a share of that district’s delegates. The first place finisher in a district received two of that district’s delegates and the second place finisher received one delegate. If a candidate won more than 50 percent of the vote in a district, he or she received all of that district’s delegates.
Of the remaining 14 delegates, 11 served at large. At-large delegates were allocated on a proportional basis a candidate had to win at least 20 percent of the statewide vote in order to be eligible to receive a share of the state’s at-large delegates. If a candidate won more than 50 percent of the statewide vote, he or she received all of the state’s at-large delegates. In addition, three national party leaders served as bound delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Campaign staff plays an important role in the presidential primaries. The makeup of a candidate’s staff can signal the strength of their support from influential party activists and whether they are aligning with a particular faction or group within the party. Eric Appleman of Democracy in Action describes candidates’ efforts to hire staffers as a “race for talent, both nationally and in key early states.” He adds, “The goal is to assemble a team of top talent that can work together effectively to mobilize resources, boost the candidate and his or her message, and ultimately secure the party’s nomination.”
Presidential candidates will typically have a national staff, which is overseen by a campaign manager and assisted by political consultants, senior advisors, professional polling firms, and key stakeholders such as interest group leaders and major financial supporters. They also build organizations in individual states that are overseen by state directors and staffed by party activists and political professionals well-versed in the particular politics of the area. Candidates often appoint elected officials and other important figures in their party’s coalition as chairs of their national campaign and state-level campaigns.
Federal Magistrate Judge Gives Doj One Week To Propose Redactions On The Affidavit That Justified The Search Of Former President’s Florida Estate
A Florida federal magistrate judge on Thursday ordered the Justice Department to propose redactions in preparation for the potential release of the justification for searching former President Donald Trump’s private club, Mar-a-Lago, for classified documents earlier this month.
Following a hearing with media organizations seeking the informations release, Judge Bruce Reinhart gave the Justice Department until Aug. 25 to propose redactions on the affidavit that justified the search. Last week, Reinharts court released documents showing the Justice Department is investigating Trump for potential violations of espionage, mishandling of classified information and destruction of government records.
As I ruled from the bench at the conclusion of the hearing, I find that on the present record the government has not met its burden of showing that the entire affidavit should remain sealed, Reinhart wrote in a brief order posted Thursday.
Several media outlets, including ABC, The Associated Press, CNN, Gannett and The New York Times, argued for the judge to order that the affidavit that justified the search be unsealed. That affidavit contains the sworn statements from investigators that Reinhart signed off on earlier this month to kick off the search.
The companies argued that in such a high-profile case, the public should have the ability to learn the justification for the search.
