Polls Put Trumps Approval Rating Lower
Despite the recent decline in Biden’s approval, Trump’s ratings were lower during his time in office.
“Biden’s approval rating has clearly taken a turn for the worse in the past several weeks, but he is still faring better than Trump at this point in their presidencies,” Burden said. “Trump had one of the lowest and steadiest approval ratings of any modern president.”
FiveThirtyEight put the polling average for Trump’s approval rating at 38.8% on Sept. 9, 2017, his first year in office. The lowest point of his term came on Dec. 16, 2017, with an average approval rate of 36.4%.
This claim is also wrong looking only at the YouGov poll.
YouGov reported Trumps approval rating never increased far above 40% and reached a term low of 34% in a poll conducted Nov. 10-14, 2017.
In other words, Trump’s low is well below Biden’s current level in YouGov polling.
According to Gallup, Trumps approval rating ranged between 34% and 49% over the course of his presidency. Trump hit the lower end of that range in January, following the insurrection at the Capitol.

Joe Biden’s Approval Rating Sinks Below Donald Trump’s
President Joe Biden‘s latest approval rating for May 2022 is lower than former President Donald Trump‘s rating for May 2018, showing that the latter was more highly regarded by the public at the same points in their presidencies.
Comparing May 20, 2018, to May 20, 2022, Trump’s lead over Biden was not by much, according to the data shared by FiveThirtyEight. Biden scored an approval rating of 40.7 percent, while Trump scored 42.4 percent, a lead of less than 2 percentage points.
The FiveThirtyEight data considers several different polls and takes into account the quality, recency, sample size and partisan tendencies of each one.
In recent months, the Biden administration has been plagued by criticisms over issues like rising inflation, border policies and a nationwide baby formula shortage that is leaving many American families in fear or despair. A new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Research released Friday showed that Biden’s approval rating dipped to 39 percent, the lowest of his presidency, signaling trouble for the Democratic Party ahead of the coming midterm elections.
Despite the negative implications for his approval on Friday, Biden touted what he said were record-low state unemployment rates. He said in a statement that combatting inflation is his “top priority,” but also pointed to job creation as an indicator of economic recovery.

Joe Biden’s Approval Rating Hits New Low But Matches Donald Trump’s: Poll
President Joe Biden‘s approval rating has reached a new low of just 40 percent in a Reuters/Ipsos poll published on Tuesday and now matches former President Donald Trump‘s approval at the same stage in his presidency.
The poll found that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of the job Biden is doing in what may be a concerning figure ahead of crucial midterm elections in November in which Republicans will aim to take back the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Trump had an approval rating of 40 percent in mid-March 2018, though it dipped below 40 percent several times over the course of his administration.
Biden’s approval rating in the poll is down three percent on last week amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and Americans’ worries about inflation. The survey found that the economy was Americans’ top issue, followed by war and foreign conflicts.
A Monmouth University poll published last week also showed that Biden and Trump had identical approval ratings at this point in their presidencies.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted from March 21 to March 22 among 1,005 adults and had a credibility interval of 4 percent. Poll tracker FiveThirtyEight gives Reuters/Ipsos a B- rating.
Among independents, 26 percent viewed Trump favorably and 68 percent had an unfavorable view.

The latest figures include 22% who Strongly Approve of the job Biden is doing and 46% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -24.

What Did The Data From The Survey Say
Trump’s 34 per cent approval rating is a point lower than his prior lowest rating which was recorded in 2017.
Trump has held an average of a 41 per cent approval rating throughout his four years in office which is “4 points lower than for any of his predecessors in the White House in Gallup’s polling era,” according to The Hill.
He is the first president to have failed to have passed a 50 per cent approval rating since Gallup began surveying presidential approval in 1938.
An ABC News-Ipsos poll revealed that the majority of Americans believe Trump should be removed from office.
Trump’s term ends January 20 at noon after President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.

In the United States, presidential job approval ratings were first conducted by George Gallup to gauge public support for the president of the United States during their term. An approval rating is a percentage determined by polling which indicates the percentage of respondents to an opinion poll who approve of a particular person or program. Typically, an approval rating is given to a politician based on responses to a poll in which a sample of people are asked whether they approve or disapprove of that particular political figure. A question might ask: “Do you approve or disapprove of the way that the current president is handling their job as president?”
Like most surveys that measure opinions, individual poll results may be inaccurate. Many unscientific approval rating systems exist that show inaccurate statistics. Examples that self select, such as online questions are of this type however, the aggregate approval rating is generally accepted by statisticians as a statistically valid indicator of the comparative changes in the popular United States mood regarding a president.

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Bottoms Out At Lowest Ever A Week After Capitol Riot
President Donald Trump‘s approval rating has hit an all-time low since he took office four years ago.
A new poll from the Pew Research Center shows that two weeks after the U.S. Capitol riot, nearly 70 percent of Americans disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job as president, with the majority saying they strongly disapprove. Comparably, only 29 percent of U.S. adults say they approve of his job performance.
The new figures are lower than in August, when Trump held an approval rating of 38 percent, a number that had remained virtually unchanged since June, when the nation was ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic and swept by racial justice protests in the wake of George Floyd‘s death in Minneapolis police custody.
Trump’s new low approaches that of George W. Bush‘s 25 percent during the 2008 financial crisis and Richard Nixon’s 24 percent during the Watergate scandal.
However, both these approval ratings were from Gallup, which have not released new figures for Trump since the January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol.
The Pew Research poll indicates that the decline in the president’s approval was seen among most major demographics since the summer.
Among white adults, Trump’s approval rating has dropped 9 percent since August. For Hispanic adults, approval declined from 28 percent to 17 percent. Approval among Black adults is currently at 4 percent, a 5 percent decrease from August.

Trump came across as a real loser:
Fifty-one percent say that Republicans have a better chance of retaking the presidency if Trump is the nominee, with 49% saying the party would be better off with a different nominee. Thats a very different landscape from 2019 when more than three-quarters of Republicans said their party had a better shot in 2020 with Trump as their nominee than they would with a different candidate.
