Decades before she was sporting designer dresses on the stage of the as Mrs Trump, Melania Knauss posed nude in a photo spread for a now-defunct French mens magazine, The New York Post has learned.
The Slovenian-born model then aged 25 and known by her professional moniker Melania K did the steamy photo session in Manhattan in 1995, according to Alé de Basseville, the French photographer who shot the sexy snaps.

The images, some rarely seen and others never published, were obtained exclusively by The New York Post.
The bombshell photos show Melania wearing nothing but high heels and pouting for the camera, in a series of images shot from the front, the back and the side.
Melania was super-great and a fantastic personality and she was very kind with me, de Basseville said, adding the former model never once felt uncomfortable posing for the nude pictures.
Melanias sexy photo spread appeared in the January 1996 issue of Max, a French mens magazine that went out of business in 2006.
But Melania seemed very comfortable with the whole thing, and she was very professional.
The two wed in 2005 in a ceremony at in Palm Beach, Florida.

On July 30th, the New York Post published nude photos of Melania Knauss. The photos were taken for a photoshoot for the French edition of Max magazine, a mens magazine that went defunct in 2006.
The Post reported that the “sexy photo spread appeared in the January 1996 issue of Max Magazine, whose cover featured a photo of supermodel Cindy Crawford.” And the photographer, Alé de Basseville told the Post that theyd been taken at a shoot in Manhattan in 1995.
At the time the Post ran the story, Melania was maintaining that shed come to the US in 1996, but hadnt given any details about when or what sort of visa she was on. The Post article appeared to reveal that, before she admitted to living in the US, she was not just in Manhattan but working as a model.
The apparent inconsistency set off a lot of questions. It made it seem like Melania Trump had something to hide when she said shed come to the US in 1996.
In particular, it gave rise to the possibility that Melania Trump had done the photoshoot before shed been legally allowed to work in the US: that shed come to the US on a tourist visa, and violated the terms of that visa by doing modeling work. By some definitions since violating the terms of a visa technically nullifies the visa that would have made her an “illegal immigrant,” or at very least an illegal worker.

Melania Trump suspects Roger Stone, a longtime ally and adviser to Donald Trump, of being behind the release of nude photos from her modelling past, a new book claims.
In the book, Free, Melania, CNN correspondent Kate Bennett also writes that the first lady still refuses to believe her husband played a role in the release. Bennett also adds to reports that the president and first lady keep separate bedrooms at the White House.
Free, Melania: The Unauthorised Biography will be published on Tuesday. The Guardian obtained a copy.
In statements to the Guardian, Stone denied Bennetts claim while the White House poured scorn on her book.
The pictures, from a 1996 photoshoot and published by a French magazine the following year, found their way into the New York Post on 30 July 2016, three months out from election day and as Donald Trump was embroiled in an ugly spat with the family of Capt Humayun Khan, a US soldier killed in Iraq in 2004.
At the time, Stone had no formal role with the Trump campaign, having left it in August 2015. But he remained close to Trump, himself a past master in using his personal life to generate tabloid publicity, often as a means of distraction.
The theory goes, Bennett writes, that Trump was trying to head off a bad week on the campaign.

‘policies Are My Husband’s Job’
Mrs Trump has largely steered clear of the political fray, confining her appearances to standing by her husband’s side. “I chose not to go into politics and policy,” she said in a 2016 interview with GQ. “Those policies are my husband’s job.”
Her one big moment of the 2016 campaign came when she took centre stage on the first day of the Republican National Convention in July for the traditional spousal speech, and it did not go well.
In 2018 she generated huge controversy after wearing a jacket with the words “I really don’t care, do you?” written on the back on a trip to a migrant child detention centre.
“It was for the people and for the left-wing media who are criticising me,” she later told ABC news. “I want to show them I don’t care.”
Despite these incidents she remains something of an unknown quantity compared with her predecessors. According to GQ, she does advise her husband, but is tight-lipped about what that consists in.
“Nobody knows and nobody will ever know,” she said. “Because that’s between me and my husband.”
She’s Involved In Philanthropy
Its not just about the money for Melania Trump, having worked with multiple charities. In the past, shes worked with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, The American Red Cross as a goodwill ambassador and even rang the bell on Wall Street to honor the Fifth Annual National Love Our Children Day. In 2005, she was the honorary chairwoman for Martha Graham Dance and is still a part of the Police Athletic League, which named her the 2006 woman of the year. Shes also been an honorary chairwoman for The Boy’s Club of New York.

Last week I witnessed countless people, mostly straight men and women, express anger over the released nude photos of Melania Trump. They were outraged that people denigrated her for the pictures, taken more than 20 years ago. It was a blip in an already insane Season of The Donald, one that should be ignored and dismissed.
“These pictures have nothing to do with Donald Trump, and we should be ashamed of ourselves for slut-shaming this woman,” a friend of mine posted on , adding “there is nothing wrong with nudity, and she was a model.”
He’s half right. But in this case the glass house is half-empty.
Anyone, gay or straight, who is slut-shaming Mrs. Trump for posing naked, or for calling her classless or a whore or unfit to be the First Lady, should probably take a good long look in their pornographic-viewing, sex-tape-making, prostitute-purchasing mirrors before judging others for “indecent” behavior. If you’ve even masturbated to photos of naked women or men you’re a hypocrite to judge the subjects of your itch.
We gay men need to be especially careful in the criticism since we’ve been told pretty much all of our lives that flaunting our sexuality is wrong, sinful, that it’s okay to be gay provided we don’t shove it in anyone else’s face or ask for “special” rights or wear revealing outfits on Gay Pride Day.

For that type of shoot, she was perfect, said Antoine Verglas, a renowned French photographer who lives in New York.
The pictures of Melania in various forms of undress were featured in a British GQ cover article in 2000. None of the published photos showed full frontal nudity.
Since Trump launched his campaign, Verglas says he has had to threaten lawsuits to prevent anti-Trump websites from using the photos and has turned down tens of thousands of dollars to license the Melania photos to other magazines.
I have to honor my commitment to this shoot, Verglas told ABC News.
Should Trump win in November, his wife would become the only American first lady known to have posed naked for publication.
There is nothing pornographic in an image like that, Verglas said. Its a gorgeous image of her.
Trump was not present for the session, which featured Melania, then Melania Knauss, as a “James Bond” femme fatale on the wings and inside the planes cockpit.
But Verglas said Trump was extremely supportive of her modeling career.
And the photographer said Melania insisted there be no full nudity in the pictures used by the magazine.
It Looks Like Trump And Her Lawyer Are Telling The Truth About When She Did The Photoshoot
Melania Trumps lawyer actually addressed the claims directly in the September letter, saying that “the photo shoot in question did not occur until after she was admitted to the United States in H1-B status in October 1996.”
Without seeing the actual magazine spread in which Melanias photos appeared, we dont know for sure whether the Post or Trump is right about the dates. But It sure looks like Trump and her lawyer are right, and the Post and the photographer are wrong.
Heres why.
The Post said that the spread had appeared in the January 1996 issue of Max, and that that issue had Cindy Crawford on the cover. Neither of those is an accurate statement.
Max Magazine didnt have a “January issue” in 1996. It had a double issue for December/January, and then a February issue .
Cindy Crawford appeared on the cover of a February issue of Max. Since that issue came out in January, its probably the one that the Post and the photographer were thinking of. But its the 1997 issue which came out in January 1997, and which could absolutely have featured a photoshoot that took place in late 1996.
The photographer, de Basseville, confirmed to Talking Points Memo that the Melania spread ran in the February 1997 issue . Thats consistent with the timeline presented by Melania Trumps lawyer.
Neither of these jibe with the timeline presented in the letter the comment about applying after “two years,” in particular.

The wife of Republican presidential candidate Donald stripped off for the revealing snaps back in 1995.
And the controversial property tycoon is absolutely delighted.
He said: “Melania was one of the most successful models and she did many photo shoots including for covers and major magazines.
“This was a picture taken for a European magazine prior to my knowing Melania.
“In Europe, pictures like this are very fashionable and common.”
They first emerged in Max Magazine when Slovenian-born Melania was an international model.
The set published by the New York Post saw her pose in her birthday suit for French photographer Ale de Basseville.
A ‘traditional’ First Lady
Glamorous and entirely devoted to her husband and his success, Mrs Trump, 50, has been cast as a kind of retro presidential spouse, a modern-day Jackie Kennedy.
When Mr Trump first hinted at tilting for the top office, in 1999, she told reporters: “I would be very traditional, like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy.”
But there are ways in which she has been a less-than-traditional First Lady: she is the first to have previously posed nude for a magazine.
During the last presidential race, supporters of Ted Cruz – Mr Trump’s rival for the Republican nomination in 2016 – seized on her work as a model, overlaying an image of her posing naked with the warning: “Meet Melania Trump, your next First Lady. Or you could vote for Ted Cruz”.
Early in 2016, a lewd phone interview with Mr and Mrs Trump by shock-jock radio presenter Howard Stern resurfaced, in which Mr Stern quizzed Mrs Trump about what she was wearing and how often she had sex with Mr Trump , and described her to Mr Trump as “that broad in your bed”. The interview prompted accusations of misogyny.
Mrs Trump has also sued the Daily Mail over an article she claims implies that she was a sex worker in the 1990s. The newspaper agreed to pay damages and apologised to the First Lady in April 2017.
Her treatment has been compared by some commentators to “slut-shaming” – the practice of attacking women over certain ways of dressing or acting.

Maybe Its A Bad Idea To Try To Figure Out Whos Illegal From The Outside
The idea that Donald Trump, who won the nomination of the Republican Party by railing against illegal immigration, could have married someone who was once an “illegal” immigrant is a delicious irony. Its not hard to see why many Trump opponents were enthusiastic about the idea or about the allegations that the Trump Organization violated immigration law with its own models in the 2000s.
But in the case of Melania Trump, it looks like the controversy over her immigration status could have been nothing more than a comedy of errors. All it took was some lazy fact-checking from the New York Post and a few attempts to recall the timeline of events that happened two decades ago, and a whole furor got started including a petition to strip Melania of her citizenship and deport her.
If its that easy to make a mistake that throws someones entire 20-year immigration history into question, maybe immigration policy is a complicated thing. Maybe its not so easy to know, given public information, whos legal and who isnt.
Not that the Melania controversy is likely to change many Trump supporters minds: Most of them are worried about immigration not because of law, but because theyre worried about immigrants threatening and diluting American values. For many Americans, how desirable an immigrant is doesnt depend on legal status but on ethnicity, religion, skill, and language ability and an Eastern European model who speaks fluent English doesnt exactly set off any alarms.
