White House Doubles Down On Trumps Animals Comments

Trumpâs Violent Call: See Jan. 6 Rally Leader Confronted Over March On The Capitol

Dozens of Trumps friends and advisers testify to his frequent cellphone use. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Trump confidant, told POLITICO in April that he hears from the president either late at night or early in the morning, sometimes from a blocked number and sometimes from a 10-digit number that starts with a 202 area code.

Three White House aides confirmed that Trumps cellphone number changes from time to time. Several aides close to the president also carry secure devices from which he can place calls a standard practice in any presidential administration.

Trumps chief of staff John Kelly has cracked down on personal cellphone use by White House staff, citing security risks.

Personal cellphones were banned from the West Wing in Januaryin order to protect White House information technology infrastructure from compromise and sensitive or classified information from unauthorized access or dissemination, according to a memo sent to staff.

The memo was sent after Kellys own phone was apparently compromised during the Trump transition. At the time, according to a senior administration official, he was told to replace the phone his own personal device though he didnt do so until October, after POLITICO reported the potential hacking.

Former government officials from Republican and Democratic administrations expressed astonishment that any White House would issue the president a cellphone that posed a security threat.

WASHINGTON When President Trump calls old friends on one of his iPhones to gossip, gripe or solicit their latest take on how he is doing, American intelligence reports indicate that Chinese spies are often listening and putting to use invaluable insights into how to best work the president and affect administration policy, current and former American officials said.

Mr. Trumps aides have repeatedly warned him that his cellphone calls are not secure, and they have told him that Russian spies are routinely eavesdropping on the calls, as well. But aides say the voluble president, who has been pressured into using his secure White House landline more often these days, has still refused to give up his iPhones. White House officials say they can only hope he refrains from discussing classified information when he is on them.

Mr. Trumps use of his iPhones was detailed by several current and former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity so they could discuss classified intelligence and sensitive security arrangements. The officials said they were doing so not to undermine Mr. Trump, but out of frustration with what they considered the presidents casual approach to electronic security.

Whether the friends can stop Mr. Trump from pursuing a trade war with China is another question.

President Donald Trump uses a White House cellphone that isnt equipped with sophisticated security features designed to shield his communications, according to two senior administration officials a departure from the practice of his predecessors that potentially exposes him to hacking or surveillance.

The president, who relies on cellphones to reach his friends and millions of Twitter followers, has rebuffed staff efforts to strengthen security around his phone use, according to the administration officials.

The presidentusesat least two iPhones, according to one of the officials. The phones one capable only of making calls, the other equipped only with the Twitter app and preloaded with a handful of news sites are issued by White House Information Technology and the White House Communications Agency, an office staffed by military personnel that oversees White House telecommunications.

While aides have urged the president to swap out the Twitter phone on a monthly basis, Trump has resisted their entreaties, telling them it was too inconvenient, the same administration official said.

Few Trump-era mysteries are as intriguing as what the 45th president said to Vladimir Putin in at least a dozen rambling, off-the-cuff calls and meetings over four years. Understanding what was said between the two could help illuminate whether Trump ever revealed sensitive information or struck any deals with the Kremlin leader that could take the new administration by surprise.

Now that President Joe Biden is in the White House, he can see for himself.

They dont need our approval to see those , a former Trump White House official said, referring to the new Biden national security team. Biden owns all the call materials. There is only one president at a time.

The Biden White House did not comment on whether it had seen the content of the calls. But so far, at least, the National Security Council has not registered any complaints with their ability to access relevant call records from the previous administration.

Of course we didnt delete anything and they would be in NARA and accessible, the official said.

We really tried hard to do it well, said the second former Trump official, who participated in the process.

Which Android Phone Does Donald Trump Use

ByAlex Dobielast updated 26 April 18

The New York Times has reported that Donald Trump still tweets from the White House on his “old, unsecured Android phone, to the protests of some of his aides,” contradicting earlier reports that the president had turned in the handset in exchange for a “secure, encrypted device approved by the Secret Service.” It’s difficult to know with 100% certainty which Android device Trump currently uses to tweet

But we sure can offer you some informed speculation!

There are only a few photos out in the wild of Trump using his smartphone, usually reported to be a “Samsung Galaxy.” That doesn’t exactly narrow it down, and most of the photos available online are low-res, making the matter trickier still. What’s more, the device appears to be in a case, obscuring some identifying features. Of the two clearest images we have of Trump using his Android phone, one comes from a NYT report dated October 2015:

The back is pretty revealing, but you have to zoom in close to pick out identifying features. The two dead giveaways are the features flanking the camera bump even in this low-res shot, Trump’s phone quite clearly has an LED flash on the left, and a less reflective marking in the same place over on the right. The only major Samsung phone released in the U.S. with these features is the Galaxy S3, launched way back in 2012.

You have to look really close to see exactly which Galaxy Trump is using.

Trump Says He Has No Trump Organization Cell Phones And Asks Judge To End Contempt Fines

Former President Donald Trump said he no longer has four cell phones identified by the New York attorney generalâs investigation into the Trump Organizationâs finances but has turned over his personal phone to be searched as he tries to convince a state judge to lift a civil contempt ruling that so far has cost him $140,000.

In an affidavit filed with the court Friday, Trump said he doesnât currently have any phones, computers or electronic devices issued to him by the Trump Organization and that he has authorized his attorneys to search his homes in Bedminster, New Jersey, his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and his personal residence in Trump Tower for any documents sought by New York Attorney General Letitia Jamesâ subpoena.

Trumpâs filing is his latest effort to try to end a $10,000 per day penalty that has accrued to $140,000. Judge Arthur Engoron previously rebuffed an earlier affidavit from Trump, saying it was âcompletely devoid of any useful detail.â Trump also has appealed the contempt ruling.

In the new filing, Trump said he no longer has a phone given to him by the Trump Organization in 2015, two flip phones, or a Samsung phone he brought with him to the White House that was âtaken from me at some point while I was President.â

Donald Trump‘s use of social media attracted attention worldwide since he joined in May 2009. Over nearly twelve years, Trump tweeted around 57,000 times, including about 8,000 times during the 2016 election campaign and over 25,000 times during his presidency. The White House said the tweets should be considered official statements. When Twitter permanently banned Trump from the platform in January 2021 during the final days of his term, his handle @realDonaldTrump had over 88.9 million followers.

A Trump-affiliated social media application Truth Social, which looks similar to Twitter, launched on February 21, 2022. Although Trump’s spokesperson Liz Harrington has, since June 2021, tweeted screenshots of his messages under the Save America logo, Harrington said in May 2022 that she would leave Twitter for Truth Social.

Lawyer Who Advised Trump Says Federal Agents Seized Phone

A lawyer who aided former President Donald Trumps efforts to undo the 2020 election results says in a federal court filing that federal agents have seized his cell phone

WASHINGTON — A conservative lawyer who aided former President Donald Trumps efforts to undo the 2020 election results and who has been repeatedly referenced in House hearings on the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the Capitol said in a court filing Monday that federal agents seized his cell phone last week.

John Eastman said the agents took his phone as he left a restaurant last Wednesday evening, the same day law enforcement officials conducted similar activity around the country as part of broadening probes into efforts by Trump allies to overturn the election.

The move underscores federal investigators’ interest in the unsuccessful schemes advanced by Trump advisers to help keep the Republican president in power in the period between the November 2020 election and the riot at the Capitol two months later, when Trump loyalists stormed the building to halt the certification of the election results.

That litigation has received extensive media attention, so it is hard to imagine that the Department of Justice, which apparently submitted the application for the warrant at issue here, was not aware of it, wrote his lawyers, Charles Burnham and Joseph Gribble.

A spokeswoman for the inspector general’s office declined to comment.

Donald Trump Has A Brand New Highly Secure President Phone

TrumpWatch, Day 644: How China and Russia Listen to Trump

The question is whether or not he can tweet from it.

Donald Trump has just been sworn in as the President of the United States, but he’ll have to use a different phone to tweet about it. The New York Timesreports that the new President has been given a new smartphone with “state-of-the-art” security, replacing the Samsung Galaxy phone he has been using until now.

It’s unknown what kind of phone Trump will now be using, but it will be a “secure, encrypted device approved by the Secret Service.” It is likely similar to the iPhone used by President Obama during his last few years in office, which had many of the standard features removed for security reasons.

Trump’s new phone will likely be unable to send texts, take pictures, or play music or videos. It’s unknown whether the President will be able to use his phone to send tweets.

The new phone will also have a new number that is only known to a few people. His previous number was widely known to members of the press, who would often call him for comment on news stories to the exasperation of his staff.

Trump Routinely Weighed In On Phone Security Issues And Even Used What One Report Said Were Essentially Burner Phones

We learned Tuesday that the White Houses records of President Donald Trumps phone calls and actions on Jan. 6, 2021, contain a large, conspicuous and thoroughly convenient gap: For more than 7½ hours as the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol was taking place and afterward, there are no records of his phone calls, although records show Trump working the phones extensively both before and after the gap.

This has led to questions about whether he might have used a burner phone a temporary, disposable phone that is difficult to trace and the Jan. 6 committee is investigating that possibility. Even before this latest news, some reporting indicated that at least some individuals involved in the Jan. 6 rally had used burner phones to communicate with the White House and members of the Trump family.

To which Trump offered a rather broad denial. Not only did he not use a burner, but I have no idea what a burner phone is, Trump said, adding that to the best of my knowledge I have never even heard the term.

This seems unlikely. And not just because former Trump national security adviser John Bolton says Trump knows better and has used the term before.

Its true that Trump doesnt appear to have used this term in public. dating back decades includes no mentions of burner phones, disposable phones or, apparently, any other way to refer to such devices.

Actual burner phones have also factored into incidents more directly involving Trump.

Before Taking Office Trump Used A Samsung Galaxy

Samsungs Galaxy S6 Edge+ shown at Samsung Unpacked on on Aug. 13, 2015 in New York City.

Before he became president, Trump used a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, according to an October 2015 report from The New York Times. The exact model is unknown, but based on an analysis of the few photos out there of Trump using his smartphone, the folks over at Android Central believe it was the Galaxy S3. A photo from February 2016 showed Trump using what appeared to be the same Galaxy S3, which was originally released in 2012, as a presidential candidate.

During the presidential campaign, Data Scientist David Robinson conducted an analysis of the tweets from Trumps Twitter handle , and concluded that posts coming from Trump himself were written on an Android, while those from his handler originated from an iPhone.

Trumps Android-sent Tweets were generally more hyperbolic relying heavily on negative words like badly, crazy and weak to describe his adversaries, according to the study. Trumps iPhone messages, on the other hand, struck a more positive tone.

My analysis concludes that the Android and iPhone tweets are clearly from different people, posting during different times of day and using hashtags, links, and retweets in distinct ways, Robinson wrote. Whats more, we can see that the Android tweets are angrier and more negative, while the iPhone tweets tend to be benign announcements and pictures.
