Joe Bidens Approval Rating Hits New Low But Matches Donald Trumps: Poll

Trump’s approval rating drops 6 points in new poll l ABCNews

President Joe Bidens approval rating has reached a new low of just 40 percent in a Reuters/Ipsos poll published on Tuesday and now matches former President Donald Trumps approval at the same stage in his presidency.

The poll found that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of the job Biden is doing in what may be a concerning figure ahead of crucial midterm elections in November in which Republicans will aim to take back the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Trump had an approval rating of 40 percent in mid-March 2018, though it dipped below 40 percent several times over the course of his administration.

Bidens approval rating in the poll is down three percent on last week amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and Americans worries about inflation. The survey found that the economy was Americans top issue, followed by war and foreign conflicts.

A Monmouth University poll published last week also showed that Biden and Trump had identical approval ratings at this point in their presidencies.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted from March 21 to March 22 among 1,005 adults and had a credibility interval of 4 percent. Poll tracker FiveThirtyEight gives Reuters/Ipsos a B- rating.

Among independents, 26 percent viewed Trump favorably and 68 percent had an unfavorable view.

What Would Make You Change Your Mind About Donald J Trump

When Michael Tesler, a political scientist at the University of California Irvine, tries to explain the amazing stability of Trumps approval in his classes, he starts with a question. He asks his students if theres anything Trump could do to make them support him. And hes invariably met by a sea of shaking heads. If you went into Trumps presidency thinking hes a racist, sexist, xenophobic, immoral, narcissistic, corrupt, and incompetent person beliefs held by most Clinton voters then theres literally almost nothing he could do to change your mind, says Tesler.

The same is true in reverse. If you see Trump as the protector of Western Civilization, as Charlie Kirk called him the other night at the RNC, or the protector of white America, as Desmond King and Rogers Smith have called him, defending cherished American values from atheist, left-wing socialists who want to take your guns and put Cory Booker in charge of diversifying your neighborhoods, then theres almost nothing that would make you abandon him, Tesler continues.

But how do we know if were being governed with a bare level of competence?

Approval Ratings By State

Approval ratings vary greatly by state and can indicate how a state will vote in the upcoming 2020 Presidential Election. Since his inauguration in January 2017, President Trumps net approval has decreased in every state. President Trumps approval rating is decreasing in important states that he won in his 2016 election, including swing states and states that are consistently Republican in every election. Trumps Approval Rating Among Republicans Is Not As High As He Claims

First off, Trumps approval rating among Republicans isnt the 94 percent he claims its actually about 10 points lower. The Washington Post provided an overview of the relevant polling last month, after Trump posted a tweet on August 23 touting the fake Republican approval number he loves to cite:

A Monmouth University poll released Thursday found 84 percent of Republicans approve of Trumps job performance, while an AP-NORC poll found that 79 percent do. His highest recent approval mark among fellow Republicans was 88 percent in a Fox News poll of registered voters earlier this month.

Trumps claim of 94 percent approval among Republicans is also higher than in a Zogby Analytics poll released earlier this month that Trump has touted. That firm, whose surveys do not rely on a random sample of U.S. voters and whose pre-election polls have often been inaccurate, put Trumps approval rating among Republicans at 86 percent.

In short, its unclear where Trump is getting his 94% number from. But whatever its origins, it is not coming from a reputable source.

Donald Trump Approval Rating Gallup

Our new CNN/SSRS poll finds that President Donald Trump has an approval rating of 39% and a disapproval rating of 55%. Compared to our last poll, his approval rating is down a statistically insignificant 1 point and his disapproval rating is up 1 point .

Still, a look at the longer term trend suggests a more worrisome trend for the President. The Presidents approval rating also declined in our previous poll compared to the poll conducted before it. Comparably, Trumps approval rating had been steady at 43% in three consecutive polls taken between April and June.

The 39% he earned in this poll is the worst approval rating hes recorded since early January of this year, when the federal government shutdown occurred. Meanwhile, his disapproval rating is now tied for its highest level since our poll taken in late January and early February.

You might say that a 4-point drop isnt a huge one. Recall, though, that Trumps approval rating has stayed between 35% and 45% in every CNN poll taken during his presidency. In other words, the president was firmly in the top half of his approval range in the middle part of this year. Now hes in the lower half of his approval range.

The American publics views of former President Donald J. Trump have remained remarkably stable across a number of different measures in recent months, even as he faces multiple investigations and as he remains a central figure in the midterm elections, according to the most recent New York Times/Siena College poll.

Voters held nearly identical views from those earlier in the summer on whether they had a favorable view of Mr. Trump, whether they thought he had committed serious federal crimes, and whom they would support in a hypothetical 2024 Trump-Biden matchup.

Overall, 44 percent of voters viewed Mr. Trump favorably, and 53 percent viewed him unfavorably . The recent poll was fielded early this month, after news of the Justice Departments inquiry into Mr. Trumps handling of confidential documents but before the New York attorney general announced she was suing Mr. Trump and his family business.

Trumps Approval Rating Craters In Final Days

After four years of stability, the outgoing presidents poll numbers have reached new lows following last weeks Capitol insurrection.

President Donald Trumps slide means he will leave the Oval Office historically unpopular compared with most of his predecessors.

01/13/2021 06:00 AM EST

Tarnished by last weeks riot at the Capitol, Donald Trump is ending his presidency with his lowest-ever poll numbers.

A new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll pegs Trumps approval at just 34 percent, the lowest in four years of tracking opinions of the presidents job performance. More than six in 10 voters 63 percent disapprove.

That matches other polls conducted over the past week showing Trumps approval rating sliding roughly 10 points following the Capitol riots which Democrats and some Republicans say Trump incited with his false and bellicose rhetoric about the 2020 presidential election.

For nearly four years, Trumps approval ratings have been extraordinarily stable, ranging between the high 30s and high 40s. Trumps denial of the election results and the sacking of the Capitol, however, have managed to do what a failed effort to repeal Obamacare, the white-supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Va., impeachment and other scandals couldnt: erode his once-durable support to new lows.

The drop among independents was similar: Fewer than three in 10 independent voters now approve of Trump 29 percent, down from 38 percent in December.

Us President Is Being Forced To Deal With Some Of The Same Dynamics As His Predecessor

Former US president Donald Trump has overtaken his successor Joe Biden in favourability ratings among American voters in what has been described as a remarkable turnaround.

The Times reported that, just eight months after the transfer of power, Trump has a positive rating of 48% compared with Bidens 46% in a Harvard-Harris poll. Back in February, Biden had a 56% positive rating compared with Trumps 43%.

The team that surrounded Trump during his reign also fared better than Bidens circle. Some 55% of respondents said that Mike Pence was a better vice president than his successor, Kamala Harris, and 63% believed that Mike Pompeo was a better secretary of state than Antony Blinken.

A number of other surveys have discovered the same trend, with a poll in the bellwether state of Iowa putting Bidens approval rating at just 31%, down from 43% in June.

Meanwhile, after Biden dropped to a new low of 43% approval in the monthly Gallup survey, down six points from August and 14 since his inauguration in January, the pollster pointed out that among elected presidents since World War Two, only Trump has had a lower job approval rating than Biden does at a similar point in their presidencies.

Donald Trumps Disapproval Rating Hits Highest Level Since Impeachment Peak

President Donald Trumps disapproval rating has reached its highest level since the early stages of his impeachment, polling data shows.

According to FiveThirtyEights approval rating tracker, Trumps disapproval rating stood at 54.8 percent on Wednesday morning, just 0.2 points below his 55 percent disapproval ranking on November 4 last year.

Trumps net disapproval rating of 13.7 percentage points is also at its lowest level since the height of the House impeachment inquiry last year.

The presidents rising disapproval rating comes amid criticism of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and protests against police brutality following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in late May.

One poll conducted by Morning Consult between June 6 and 7 found that half of voters felt Trumps handling of the coronavirus pandemic was poor as a further 11 percent described it as just fair.

A little more than a third of polled voters said the presidents reaction to the pandemic had been excellent or good.

Another survey for CNN conducted by SSRS between June 2 and 5 also revealed that almost two-thirds of voters disapproved of the way Trump was handling race relations amid unrest over the death of Floyd, a 45-year-old black man, while in police custody.

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Plunges To Lowest Point In Over A Year: Poll

Whats Going On With Trumps Approval Rating?

Donald Trump’s positive approval rating is at its lowest point in more than a year, whereas President Joe Biden is seeing his highest score in months, according to a poll.

A survey released by NBC News found that Trump currently has a 54 percent negative approval rating, with a 34 percent positive approval.

Trump had the same 54 percent negative approval rating in an August NBC News poll, but with a slightly higher positive approval of 36 percent.

In comparison, Trump also had a 36 percent positive approval rating in May and March 2022, 37 percent in January 2022, and 38 percent in August and October 2021.

The former president’s overall favorability rating of 54 percent positive and 34 percent negative has not been as low since an April 2021 NBC poll, when he recorded 55 percent negative and 32 percent positive numbers.

The poll also found that while Biden’s overall approval rating is still underwater, he is currently seeing the highest positive score in nearly a year.

Biden’s latest NBC favorability rating has him at 45 percent positiveup 3 points from last month and the highest it has been since October 2021and 52 percent negative.

Elsewhere, the poll revealed that voters are currently split when asked who they back in the midterms, with the GOP and Democrat Party at 46 percent when voters asked who they believe should control Congress.

The Claim: President Joe Bidens Approval Rating Is 39% And Lower Than Donald Trumps Ever Was

After the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August, President Joe Bidens approval ratings took a hit. But some online posts exaggerate the depth of the drop.

Text in reads, Joe Bidens approval falls to 39 percent, worse than Trumps approval ever. The post did not indicate which poll its referring to.

A similar post accumulated 46,000 likes in six days before it was deleted. Other claims in this vein have racked up hundreds of interactions on Facebook and Instagram, according to CrowdTangle, a social media insights tool.

The claim is misleading. While one poll did put Bidens approval rating at 39%, the polling average a more accurate measure of a presidents popularity put it higher. Experts say Bidens approval rating, the lowest since he took office, is still higher than Trumps term low.

USA TODAY reached out to several social media users who shared the claim for comment.

Trump Will Leave Office With His Lowest Approval Rating Ever

By Annie Karni

Throughout four years of scandals and investigations, President Trump has maintained an approval rating that rarely budged from a 10-point band between 35 and 45 percent. Nothing he could say, do or tweet appeared to dramatically change public opinion of him.

But the events of Jan. 6 when a violent mob of Trump supporters incited by the president stormed the Capitol appear to have damaged him in his final days in office in a way that finally moved the needle.

Mr. Trump is set to depart office on Wednesday with an approval rating of 29 percent, the lowest of his presidency, according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center.

About 75 percent of the public said Mr. Trump bore some responsibility for the violence and destruction of Jan. 6, which put the lives of the vice president and members of Congress at risk and resulted in five deaths, according to the survey.

And his behavior since the election a period during which he has repeatedly tried to contest his loss, relied on conspiracy theorists for advice, encouraged supporters who do not view President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. as legitimate, and refused to concede has cost Mr. Trump support even with those individuals who have loyally supported him up until now.

According to Pew, the share of his supporters who described his conduct as poor has doubled, to 20 percent from 10 percent, over the past two months.
