Who Is Against Trump In Election 2020

Who Has The Grand Jury Heard From So Far

Former federal judge reveals most compelling evidence against Trump’s election lies

In addition to subpoenaing the fake electors, the grand jury has sought testimony from a wide array of figures ranging from a former publicist for Kanye West, who allegedly tried to pressure an election worker into making untrue claims about voter fraud, to Brian Kemp, the states Republican governor, who was the subject of an unrelenting pressure campaign by Trump to take action on his behalf.

Recently, it sought testimony from a variety of figures in Trumps inner circle, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.

This is major, Hallerman said at the time. This represents the first time that the DA is piercing the inner orbit of Donald Trump. Previously, she stayed at the state and local level and kept it very Georgia-focused.

Both Graham and Giuliani have tried to avoid testifying. Giuliani was ordered by a New York judge to testify in person in August after he failed to show up to a court hearing contesting his subpoena. He eventually spent six hours testifying in person on August 17 before the grand jury. His lawyer, Robert Costello, told the Washington Post afterward, We had no disputes. We were told Mayor Giuliani has completed his grand jury obligations.

Mastriano Says Opponents ‘need To Go’

Doug Mastriano was met with cheers of “Mastriano” and “Let’s go Brandon” as he took the stage.

“Any free people in the house?” Mastriano asked the crowd, stating that the “people are pissed” after “Old ‘sleepy Joe’ crawled out of his hole without the bunny rabbit,” at his speech Thursday at Independence Hall.

Mastriano said his opponent Josh Shapiro, President Joe Biden and current Pa. Governor Tom Wolf are all “cut of the same cloth.”

According to FiveThirtyEight, Shapiro leads Mastriano in the race for governor by more than 7 points.

“They all need to go,” he said. Mastriano pointed to Daniel Lewis Cox in the crowd, calling him the next governor of Maryland. Like Mastriano, Cox holds far-right views. Cox represents the 4th District of the Maryland House of Delegates.

“Love you brother,” Mastriano said. “Could you imagine how fantastic it’s gonna be, with ‘Governor Cox’ in Maryland and ‘Governor Mastriano’ in Pennsylvania?”

Big Lie Believers Sure To Win Runoffs In Georgia And Alabama

However, this doesnt mean that all of the candidates who didnt respond are secretly harboring election conspiracy beliefs. When candidates responded to our questions, they would also sometimes confirm that they believed the 2020 election was legitimate. Joe Pinion, the Republican nominee for Senate in New York, also didnt have a public record on the 2020 election, but when we reached out he responded unequivocally: The election was legitimate and certified. Joe Biden is the 46th President of the United States of America. Full stop. So these undeclared candidates really cant be presumed to represent either side, and likely include some candidates who deny the legitimacy of the 2020 election and some who dont.

Attempts To Delay Or Deny Election Results

Republican reactions to Donald Trump’s claims of 2020 election fraudTexas v. Pennsylvaniaamicus curiae

In November, Trump focused his efforts on trying to delay vote certifications at the county and state level. On December 2, Trump posted a 46-minute video to his social media in which he repeated his baseless claims that the election was “rigged” and fraudulent and called for either the state legislatures or the courts to overturn the results of the election and allow him to stay in office. He continued to apply pressure to elected Republicans in Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania in an unprecedented attempt to overturn the election result. Some commentators have characterized Trump’s actions as an attempted coup d’état or self-coup.

On December 15, the day after the electoral college vote, Republican Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, who was previously among those who would not recognize the election results, publicly accepted Biden’s win, saying, “Today, I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.”

In a December 21 news conference, outgoing Attorney General William Barr disavowed several actions reportedly being considered by Trump, including seizing voting machines, appointing a special counsel to investigate voter fraud, and appointing one to investigate Hunter Biden.

“Our country is going to hell,” Trump said, noting that the November election is a referendum on issues plaguing the country. Trump called President Joe Biden’s recent speech in Philadelphia the most “divisive” ever given by a U.S. president.

Trump remarked that the red lighting behind Biden during his address made him appear “like the devil.”

The former president focused on shootings and murder rates in Philadelphia and crime nationwide.

“Doug, you have to take care of this,” Trump said. “Oz will send you the goods. You know what the goods are? More police officers.”

Trump said that Democrats were waging war on democracy by criminalizing free speech, rigging elections, weaponizing the FBI and justice department and raiding the homes of their political opponents.

“I wonder who that could be?” Trump said with a smirk.

The danger to democracy comes from the “radical left,” Trump said, before promising that Republicans would “take back the country.”

Chants of “USA” errupted.

Trump called the raid on his home Mar-a-Lago a “travesty of justice” that “made a mockery of America’s laws, traditions and principles and the entire world was watching.”

“We are a third world nation,” he said, going on to call the DOJ and FBI “vicious monsters.”

“They are trying to silence me, and they are trying to silence you,” Trump continued. “We will not be silenced, right?”

A chorus of “lock her up” then followed.

“We have no choice, we are trying to save our country,” he said.

Other Members Who Have Faced Questions About Jan 6

In addition to the members who have been implicated or directly named as participants Trumps efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, several other incumbent members of Congress have received formal requests for information from the Jan. 6 committee based on evidence and testimony it has received.

But Denying The Election Isnt A Guaranteed Win

Being a candidate who claims the 2020 election was stolen is a bit like being endorsed by Trump it can help in the right race, but its not a guaranteed winning strategy. Often, other electoral factors override the appeal an election-denying candidate might have especially when thats all they really have to offer voters.

For instance, in the 91 contests in which at least one candidate entertains stolen election conspiracy theories and at least one candidate has accepted Biden as president, Republican voters opted for the pro-democracy candidate 49 times out of 91 . The election-denying candidate won just 33 times .4 In fact, candidates who accepted the election either fully or while still raising questions about fraud represent just 14 percent of total Republican primary candidates . Yet, these two groups were overrepresented in the primary winners: 22 percent of nominees accepted the 2020 results.

Trump Says ‘america Is Going To Hell’ Alludes To 2024 Run For Presidency At Pa Rally

WILKES-BARRE Thousands were present at Mohegan Sun Arena Saturday evening to see Republicans running for office in Pennsylvania and former President Donald J. Trump. The night marked Trump’s first rally appearance since the FBI raid at Mar-A-Lago, during which the bureau seized dozens of boxes of documents, including folders labeled “top secret.”

More than 130,000 viewers tuned in to a livestream of the event broadcasted on Rumble and YouTube. Present at the rally were Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene and Dan Cox, and the president of Johnson & Johnson.

A more mellow soundtrack played in the background throughout the night, including “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra and “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles.

Before Trump took the stage, the melancholy lyrics of “Memory” from the Broadway musical Cats rung through the arena, followed by the song “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People.

Trump himself walked out to “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood.

“Thank you very much, and hello Pennsylvania,” Trump said before endorsing Doug Mastriano for governor and Dr. Mehmet Oz for Senate.

During his address, Trump made fun of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, pushed his platform Truth Social, railed against the FBI, and perpetuated the false claim that the 2020 election was “stolen.”

Claim : Votes Flipped From Trump To Biden

How Trumps Stolen Election Claim Is Impacting Races In Key States

President Trump’s legal team also repeated a claim made by him that there had been an issue with the voting system used in some battleground states which supposedly allowed millions of votes to be flipped from him to his rival, Mr Biden.

There is no evidence for this, and none has been provided by the president’s legal team.

The president is echoing accusations made on the conservative news outlet One America News Network about Dominion voting machines, which have been widely used across the US in this election.

An OANN report refers to an “unaudited analysis of data” obtained from an election monitoring group, Edison Research, which allegedly showed millions of votes were flipped.

However, the company’s president, Larry Rosin, said: “Edison Research has produced no such report and we have no evidence of any voter fraud.”

Edison Research provides many of the major US networks with exit poll data and results.

Dominion Voting Systems has released a statement saying: “Claims about Dominion switching or deleting votes are 100% false.”

Shocking New Lesson In Florida Public School Boosts Trump’s Election Lie

Trends Reporter, HuffPost

A jaw-dropping assignment in a Florida public school district is peddling Donald Trumps lie that the presidential election he lost was rigged.

The assignment at R. Dan Nolan Middle School in Bradenton presented sixth-grade students with a fact: President Trump made claims that the 2020 election was stolen. But calling his claims false which they are would be an example of bias in the media, according to the lesson.

The media is often biased and will add words that persuade you to think one way or another, warned the assignment. The sentence stating that the former president made the election claims is just giving you information, it said, but calling the claims false leads you to believe he is wrong before you have all the facts.

The startling lesson was shared among school parents and ended up in the hands of Ron Filipkowski, a Sarasota attorney who quit a commission in Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis administration two years ago in protest over his policies and now tracks conservative movements on Twitter and in the media.

The assignment is actually the most biased example of bias Ive seen, the mother of a student in the School District of Manatee County told The Daily Beast on Friday. It seems pretty out of place for a sixth-grade class, she added.

The Claim: The 2020 Presidential Election Was ‘rigged’

As the nation marks a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Donald Trump continued to promote a falsehood that he and his supporters have peddled for more than a year: that the 2020 election was rigged against him.

“Why is it that the Unselect Committee of totally partisan political hacks, whose judgment has long ago been made, not discussing the rigged Presidential Election of 2020?” the former president said in a Jan. 6 statement, which spokesperson Liz Harrington tweeted. “It’s because they don’t have the answers or justifications for what happened.

“They got away with something, and it is leading to our Country’s destruction.”

The statement, which has alsobeen widely shared, came after President Joe Biden delivered a speech in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall in which he criticized Trump and his distortion of the 2020 election results. Biden said Trump and his supporters “held a dagger at the throat of America.”

“You cant love your country only when you win, Biden said. You cant obey the law only when its convenient. You cant be patriotic when you embrace and enable lies.”

The violent insurrection was predicated on the misguided belief that widespread voter fraud swayed the election in Biden’s favor. This was a baseless claim when Trump first made it in late 2020, and the year that passed since has only added to the evidence of the election’s legitimacy.

Is This Connected To The January 6 Committees Work

Donald Trump 2020 Election Night Speech Transcript

Not technically. The probes are entirely separate. But the events they are investigating are connected, so there is significant overlap in their efforts. Trumps campaign to reverse the election outcome in Georgia was unsuccessful, and, the committee has argued, that failure led him to a final effort to overturn the election on January 6, 2021.

The committees public hearings have disproportionately featured witnesses from Georgia over other similarly situated states. One June hearing almost entirely featured witnesses from Georgia, with Raffensperger and his former top aide Gabriel Sterling appearing on one panel while two former election workers in the state, Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman, appeared on a second panel in the same hearing.

The Peach State has captured disproportionate attention from the panel both because of the ample evidence of malfeasance it is the only state where there are phone recordings of Trump pressuring the top election official and because so many of the figures who resisted the efforts, like Raffensperger and Sterling, were Republicans who actually had voted for Trump.

The evidence unearthed by the committee and revealed publicly is likely to be very helpful to Willis in proving Trumps state of mind, and that he knew or should have known that he had actually lost the 2020 election.

Biden Leading National Presidential Polls

National polls are a good guide as to how popular a candidate is across the country as a whole, but they’re not necessarily a good way to predict the result of the election.

In 2016, for example, Hillary Clinton led in the polls and won nearly three million more votes than Donald Trump, but she still lost – that’s because the US uses an electoral college system, so winning the most votes doesn’t always win you the election.

With that caveat aside, Joe Biden has been ahead of Donald Trump in most national polls since the start of the year. He has hovered around 50% in recent months and has had a 10-point lead on occasions.

False Claims Of Fraud

Trump and a variety of his surrogates and supporters made a series of observably false claims that the election was fraudulent. Claims that substantial fraud was committed have been repeatedly debunked. On November 9 and 10, The New York Times called the offices of top election officials in every state all 45 of those who responded said there was no evidence of fraud. Some described the election as remarkably successful considering the coronavirus pandemic, the record turnout, and the unprecedented number of mailed ballots. On November 12, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued a statement calling the 2020 election “the most secure in American history” and noting “here is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.” Trump fired the director of CISA five days later.

Motivated by the myth of widespread fraud, Republican state lawmakers initiated a push to make voting laws more restrictive.
