Speaking of Trumps handling of the coronavirus, the president seemed to suggest Sunday night that hed fire Dr. Anthony Fauci if he wins re-election.
When Fire Fauci! chants erupted at Trumps final rally in Florida last night, the president said, Don’t tell anybody but let me wait till a little bit after the election.
Fauci just happens to be the most popular figure in our new NBC News/WSJ poll, with a 50 percent positive, 13 percent negative favorable/unfavorable rating .
Yet look at Faucis numbers by party:
- Among Democrats: 73 percent positive, 4 percent negative
- Among independents: 51 percent positive, 12 percent negative
- Among Republicans: 27 percent positive, 23 percent negative
- Among Republicans who support Trump more than party: 14 percent positive, 30 percent negative
- Among Republicans who support the party more than Trump: 44 percent positive, 13 percent negative
That Fire Fauci argument plays only to the Trump base and not anyone else.

President Biden on Tuesday seemed fixated on former President Donald Trump in a Virginia stump speech for Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor.
Biden mentioned Trump by name 24 times during a brisk, 17-minute speech in a park near the Pentagon in northern Virginia, attempting to use his predecessors legacy to bash Republican Glenn Youngkin, who is tied with McAuliffe in polls in a state Biden won by 10 points just a year ago.
Trump has neither campaigned for Youngkin nor made an endorsement in the race.
But the suddenly tight Virginia contest with Youngkin has become a test of Bidens political strength ahead of next years midterm elections and a possible rematch with Trump in the 2024 presidential race and comes as Bidens approval ratings and polling on core issues have nosedived.
The Virginia race has focused heavily on Biden as the presidents approval ratings drop amid setbacks including high inflation and a supply-chain bottleneck following a chaotic US pullout from Afghanistan, a continued Mexico border crisis and a resurgence of COVID-19 infections caused by the more contagious Delta variant.
The Virginia governors race and close gubernatorial contest in New Jersey, also next week, are seen as a test of support for national Democrats. A defeat could sap momentum for Bidens social spending and infrastructure legislation in Congress and hint at trouble for Bidens party going into the 2022 midterms.
Trump Suggests He Could Take Outcome To Supreme Court
Early Wednesday, Trump falsely claimed he had won the election, with millions of votes to be counted, saying there weren’t enough votes left to be counted in Pennsylvania to swing the outcome, even though that is untrue. Casting doubt again on the validity of mail-in ballots, he said he would be “going to the U.S. Supreme Court” to take steps to stop the count, even though every presidential election sees counting of absentee balloting go on for days at times.
“This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election,” Trump said, despite clear evidence that not all the votes had been counted and millions left uncounted as of early Wednesday could swing the result.
Biden, who somewhat earlier had said the results looked good and urged his supporters to have patience as the absentee ballots were counted in the coming hours and days, called Trump’s statement “outrageous, unprecedented and incorrect.”
Bob Bauer, campaign legal adviser to Biden, suggested Trump was posturing in his remarks. “If you go to the Supreme Court today, drive around the building, you will not see Donald Trump and you will not see his lawyer. He is not going to the Supreme Court of the United States to get the voting to stop.”
Polls also showed Biden with a strong edge in Michigan and Wisconsin and a somewhat smaller one in Pennsylvania, which, in the tally so far at least, hasn’t emerged.

Trump Leads With Rural Evangelical Iowans
Neither Trump nor Biden has made a formal reelection announcement, though both have left the option open.
Trump, 75, visited Des Moines in October, holding a rally that drew thousands to the Iowa State Fairgrounds amid speculation he was laying groundwork for another White House run.
Biden, 78, is just ending the first year of his first term. At a news conference in March, Biden said he planned to run for reelection but also said he was a “great respecter of fate” and has never planned anything for certain. He has not returned to the state since campaigning there ahead of the 2020 election.
In the hypothetical matchup, Trump leads with huge margins among evangelical and rural Iowans. He carries evangelical likely voters 76% to 15%, and he carries rural likely voters 64% to 26%.
Justin Lindsey, 36, a poll respondent from Sioux City, said hed vote for Trump in a hypothetical rematch with Biden. He said Trump put in place policies that worked.
The reason is: He is more of a businessman than a politician, said Lindsey, a carpenter and a registered Republican. When he got into office, he actually ran the country like a business, and hes had great success with businesses.
Trump also does well among likely voters without a college degree, earning support among 59% compared with Bidens 31%.
Biden does better with those who have earned a college degree, 53% to Trumps 38%.
But she wishes Biden and the Democratic majorities in Congress would go beyond the status quo.
How Trump And Biden Are Spending Monday
Even as Mr. Trump refuses to concede the election and claims he has won a second term in the White House, Mr. Biden is charging full speed ahead with the transition.
After announcing his 13-member COVID-19 advisory board earlier Monday, Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are scheduled to receive their first briefing from the new task force in Wilmington, Delaware. Following the briefing, Mr. Biden is expected to make remarks on his plans to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and revive the economy, which was devastated by the public health crisis.
Mr. Biden and Harris are then set to hold briefings with transition advisers.
Mr. Trump, meanwhile, has no public events on his agenda, according to the White House schedule. He spent Saturday and Sunday playing golf at his club in Sterling, Virginia.

U.S. president-elect Joe Biden on Monday told Georgia Democrats they had the power to “chart the course” for a generation as President Donald Trump rehashed old grievances over his November loss in final pleas ahead of run-off elections that will determine control of the U.S. Senate.
Trump made his final-hours pitch to voters at a nighttime rally in north Georgia, where Republicans were banking on strong voter turnout on Tuesday to reelect Sen. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue and hold control of the chamber.
Earlier, Biden campaigned with Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in Atlanta, hoping he could recreate the coalition that secured him a narrow victory in the presidential race in November.
“Folks, this is it. This is it. It’s a new year, and tomorrow can be a new day for Atlanta, for Georgia and for America,” Biden said at a drive-in rally. “Unlike any time in my career, one state one state can chart the course, not just for the four years but for the next generation.”
The stakes have drawn hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign spending to a once solidly Republican state that now finds itself as the nation’s premier battleground. Biden won Georgia’s 16 electoral votes by about 12,000 votes out of five million cast in November, though Trump continues pushing false assertions of widespread fraud that even his now-former attorney general and Georgia’s Republican secretary of state along with a litany of state and federal judges have said did not happen.
Biden Pulls Ahead Of Trump In Georgia

At about 4:30 a.m., a release of ballots counted in the Atlanta suburb of Clayton County gave Biden a lead in the state of 917 votes. He pushed his lead out to 1,096 votes after another batch of votes came in at about 6 a.m.
Biden had been gaining on Trump throughout Thursday and Friday morning as many mailed-in ballots were slowly counted. No Democrat has won the state of Georgia in a presidential election since 1992.
Georgia has 16 electoral votes and a win there would put an Electoral College win in Biden’s grasp.
All eyes also remained focused on Pennsylvania, where Trump still held a lead on Biden but one that was steadily shrinking.
Trump cannot win the Electoral College without winning Georgia and Pennsylvania.
In Georgia, Bidens success in the traditionally red state can be attributed to the Democratic-dominated urban areas in and surrounding the cities of Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus and Savannah.
Given the closeness of the race, a recount in Georgia seems likely. Trump’s campaign has already requested a recount in the state of Wisconsin.
Georgia election officials on Friday will begin conducting a risk-limiting audit under a new state law before certifying the presidential election winner.

US lawmakers returned with a vengeance after peace was restored on the federal grounds and quickly certified Biden’s electoral win.

Mcconnell Says Trump Is 100% Within His Right To Wage Legal Fight
In his first remarks since Mr. Biden was projected the winner of the presidential election, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell defended Mr. Trump as he refuses to concede and raises allegations of election fraud in several key states despite no evidence that widespread fraud occurred.
“The core principle here is not complicated,” McConnell said during a speech on the Senate floor. “In the United States of America, all legal ballots must be counted. Any illegal ballot must not be counted. The process should be transparent or observable by all sides, and the courts are here to work through concerns. Our institutions are actually built for this.”
McConnell, who won reelection to the Senate, said the president is “100% within his right to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options.”
The Kentucky senator also criticized Democrats for their condemnations of Mr. Trump for refusing to acknowledge Mr. Biden’s win, saying they “should have no reason to fear any extra scrutiny.”
“We have the tools and the institutions we need to address any concerns. The president has every right to look into allegations and to request recounts under the law,” McConnell said. “And notably, the Constitution gives no role in this process to wealthy media corporations.”
Georgia Election Official: ‘this Has Been Thoroughly Debunked’
Ossoff and Warnock have campaigned with warnings that a Republican Senate will stymie Biden’s administration, especially on pandemic relief.
Warnock pushed back at the deluge of Loeffler television ads casting him as a socialist. “Have you noticed she hasn’t even bothered to make a case, Georgia, for why you should keep her in that seat?” Warnock said, speaking ahead of Biden. “That’s because she has no case to make.”

Fox News Poll Finds Biden Ahead Of Trump In Key Battleground States

A new Fox News poll of registered voters in key battleground states finds that presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden is ahead of President Donald Trump.
All four states were carried by Trump in the 2016 election.
When asked who they would vote for if the election were held today, 49% of registered voters in Florida said they’d vote for Biden, while only 40% responded that they would vote for Trump.
That is a steep decline from the same poll in April when Biden only held a 3% lead above Trump, with 46% to 43% respectively.
Of those polled in Georgia, 47% said they’d pull the lever for Biden, while 45% said Trump was their choice.
In North Carolina, the results were the same: 47% for Biden and 45% for Trump.
Even in Texas the poll found Biden with an edge over Trump, 45% to 44%.
The poll was conducted June 20-23, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3%.
A previous Fox News poll found that Biden was ahead nationally by 12%, an increase from the prior lead he had of 8% in May. That poll showed that while Trump’s voters were motivated by a 2-to-1 margin by enthusiasm instead of fear, Biden’s voters were motivated by 2-to-1 by fear of Trump and not enthusiasm.
Susan Collins Extends Congratulations To Biden And Harris
Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine offered congratulations to Mr. Biden on his “apparent victory,” and said he and Harris “should be given every opportunity to ensure they are ready to govern” once inaugurated.
“He loves this country, and I wish him every success,” Collins said in a statement.
The Maine senator, who was reelected to a fifth term in last week’s election, also said Mr. Trump should have the opportunity to challenge the results in certain states, noting there are mechanisms in place for those claims to be heard.
“I know that many are eager to have certainty right now,” Collins said. “While we have a clear direction, we should continue to respect that process. I urge people to be patient. The process has not failed our country in more than 200 years, and it is not going to fail our country this year.”
