DES MOINES, Iowa – Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines on Saturday.
Itll be the first time he has returned to Iowa since the 2020 election.
According to his website, Trumps Save America rally will feature live entertainment that begins at 2 p.m., with his speech expected to begin at 7 p.m.

The latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll shows the former presidents favorability among Iowans is now higher than it ever was while he was president.
Former Vice President Mike Pence will also visit Iowa, during an event at the University of Iowa on November 1.

Trump’s trip to Iowa brings up another thing that’s unprecedented: the false claims he’s pushing about the 2020 election being stolen. There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud, but Iowans are asking about it at town halls.
At one last month for Grassley in rural western Iowa, a man in the back of the crowded room told the senator that he doesn’t trust the outcome of the election.
“I feel in my heart that there was a lot of cheating going on,” the man said.
Grassley didn’t directly correct the claim. Instead, he defended Iowa’s elections and criticized congressional Democrats’ plan for a federal voting overhaul.
Bardwell says misinformation has taken hold in the GOP.
“You can’t put the genie back in the bottle, in terms of once this accusation is unleashed,” he said. “And once it’s believed by a large percentage of the Republican base, there’s kind of no going back at that point. Mainly because kind of the psychological dynamics of misinformation are such that at that point, people will just find and then rationalize the position that they already have.”
Trump’s lies about 2020 haven’t dissuaded Iowa Republicans from wanting to appear with him.
That includes Iowans who are up for reelection next year. Both Grassley and Gov. Kim Reynolds are slated to speak ahead of him at Saturday night’s rally.

Trump To Hold Iowa Rally As Poll Shows Strong Approval Ratings

Donald Trump was set to return to Iowa on Saturday for a campaign-style rally, on the heels of a poll showing strong support in the state which traditionally kicks off presidential elections.
Trump has not announced a second run for the White House.
Instead, he has maintained control of his party by repeating lies about electoral fraud in his defeat by Joe Biden attempting to block a congressional investigation of the deadly Capitol attack by supporters seeking overturn that defeat fundraising strongly and bragging about how he would defeat potential rivals including the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, if he chooses to seek the nomination again.
He also continues to attack his own party establishment. This week, Trump condemned the Republican leader in the Senate for ending opposition to helping Democrats raise the US debt limit, a position which threatened economic catastrophe.
In a statement, Trump called the move a terrible deal pushed by folding Mitch McConnell. McConnell seemed sure to come under fire from the stage at the Iowa state fairgrounds in Des Moines on Saturday night.
Ahead of the rally, the Des Moines Register released a poll which showed that 53% of Iowans view Trump favourably.
While Republicans mostly align themselves with Trump, Democrats and independent observers continue to warn about the likely consequences of another Trump run or presidency.
Democrats Try To Bait Trump Into Heading To Virginia To Campaign For Youngkin
Is former President Donald Trump coming to Virginia to rally for Glenn Youngkin ahead of next week’s election for governor?
Youngkin’s Democratic opponent, Terry McAuliffe, really wants voters to think so.
His campaign blasted a fundraising email Wednesday less than an hour after Trump released a statement commenting on a rally McAuliffe had with President Joe Biden in Arlington the night before.
“Chanting, ‘We love Trump’ in Arlington, Va. Thank you, Arlington, see you soon!” Trump said in the brief statement issued by his Save America leadership PAC.
The Washington Examiner attended Tuesday’s rally and witnessed approximately two dozen pro-Trump, pro-Youngkin protesters outside. A chant also briefly broke out while Biden was speaking, but the president dismissed it, saying No, no, no, no. Let em talk. Thats OK. Look, this is not a Trump rally. Let em holler. No ones paying attention.
People in the audience could also be heard yelling, “We love Joe!” Others, however, believe they heard “We love Trump!” including the former president himself.
Appearing to take a cue from that statement, which does not confirm Trump is headed to Virginia to campaign for Youngkin, McAuliffe’s team sent an email with the subject line: “Trump is coming to VIRGINIA!”

WELLINGTON, Ohio Former President Donald J. Trump returned to the rally stage on Saturday evening after a nearly six-month absence, his first large public gathering since his Save America event on Jan. 6 that resulted in a deadly riot at the Capitol.
On Saturday, the same words Save America appeared behind Mr. Trump as he addressed a crowd of several thousand at a county fairgrounds in Wellington, Ohio, about 35 miles southwest of Cleveland.
He repeated familiar falsehoods about fraudulent 2020 votes. He attacked Republican officials for refusing to back his effort to overturn the election results including Representative Anthony E. Gonzalez of Ohio, who voted to impeach Mr. Trump, and whose primary challenger, Max Miller, was the reason for Mr. Trumps visit. The former president praised Mr. Miller as they appeared onstage together.
Mr. Trump remains the most powerful figure in the Republican Party, with large numbers of G.O.P. lawmakers parroting his lies about a stolen 2020 election and fearful of crossing him, and many in the party waiting to see whether he will run again for the White House in 2024.

The former president boasted about those numbers in an email to supporters this week.
And his political action committee recently hired a couple of Iowa advisers.
Kedron Bardwell, a political science professor at Simpson College, says Trump has mostly frozen the field for Republicans.
“It doesn’t mean they’re not testing the waters,” Bardwell said. “But I don’t think people want to go through the amount of work it would take to build the infrastructure and get, you know, the donations lined up, ready to go, if they know that in a few months, he’s just going to drop his hat in the ring anyway.”

What We Dont Know
Whether Trump will focus on 2020, 2022 or 2024 at his rallies. Trump has continued to baselessly discount the results of the 2020 election, announcing in a statement earlier this month he plans to refer to the election as the Big Lie. During his CPAC speech in February, he mostly focused on criticizing President Joe Biden, while teasing a 2024 run. Its not clear whether Trump, during these upcoming rallies, will look to help drum up support for Republicans running for office in 2022, or continue to harp on red-meat issues like the 2020 election.

Trump Supports From Near And Far Gather At Iowa State Fairgrounds
Hours before the rally began, thousands of supporters and merchants selling Trump paraphernalia lined up at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Among the revelers was T. Trump, a Vietnamese immigrant who traveled with other Vietnamese immigrants from California. T. Trump and others said they legally changed their last name to Trump out of respect for the “king.”
“When you have a king that really works hard … the people take over his name,” T. Trump, 55 and wearing an American-flag themed cowboy hat, said. “Wherever Trump goes. We came here for freedom. We don’t want to lose this country. You were born free, you want to live free, you want to die free.”
Diana Johnson, 66, and Lori Ediger, 58 sisters from Nebraska were also in line Saturday. They arrived at the fairgrounds at 5:30 a.m.
Ediger was so excited, she couldn’t sleep.
“This guy’s a man of his word,” Ediger said. “He does what he says he’s going to do.”
Both were decked out in American Flag-themed clothing and Trump 2024 attire.
“Biden shouldn’t be in the White House,” Johnson said. “Period.”
Sheryl Robins, a retired nurse from Osceola, said she was glad to see the level of energy inside the fairgrounds. It was her first Trump rally since 2016.
She said she likes how Trump brought the background as a businessman to the White House and how he supported veterans and the economy. She said she’s been unhappy with how Biden has handled those issues.
“Trumps for the country. Hes for America. Hes for Jesus, he said.

Former President Donald Trump will hold two more campaign-style rallies in the coming weeks one in Georgia and one in Iowa as speculation continues to grow that he will make yet another run for the White House in 2024.
Trumps Save America PAC announced Tuesday night that the 45th president will hold a rally in Perry, Ga., approximately 100 miles south of Atlanta, on Sept. 25. A few minutes later, the organization announced that Trump would speak in Des Moines, Iowa on Oct. 9.
The events will be the fourth and fifth rallies Trump has held since leaving office in January. He previously drew crowds in Ohio, Florida and Alabama where he was briefly booed by some audience members after recommending they get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Trumps visit to Georgia will mark his first appearance there since Republicans lost both of the states US Senate seats in a pair of special elections in January, handing Democrats full control of Congress and the White House.
The former president, who in November became the first Republican candidate to lose the Peach State in a presidential election since George H.W. Bush in 1992, has repeatedly claimed without evidence that his defeat was the result of voter fraud and harshly criticized Georgia election officials, including Republican secretary of state Brad Raffensperger, for not supporting his allegations.

The political rally in Perry, Georgia will mark the first event Trump has held in the state since January.
ATLANTA – Former President Donald Trump will hold what he has billed as a “Save America Rally” Saturday in Perry, Georgia.
The event will be his first in the state since January when he campaigned for Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue ahead of their runoffs. Both lost their races to their Democratic challengers.
“Trump is going to say, you know, ‘You should miss me because I didn’t have inflation. We were energy independent.’ He’s going to do down the line–he fights crime and so, I think you’ll see a contrast that, ‘Hey, I did it better and Biden’s not doing anything, and Democrats in Georgia are just following Biden,” explained Phil Kent, a Republican panelist on The Georgia Gang.
Ahead of Trump’s visit, Georgia Democrats held a news conference condemning his continued claims of election fraud in 2020.
“We must continue to reject Trump and the Republican divisiveness, the lies, and toxic rhetoric,” said state Rep. Miriam Paris, D-Macon.
A slew of Republican candidates will join the former president for the event including U.S. Senate hopeful Herschel Walker, Secretary of State candidate Jody Hice and Burt Jones, who is running for Lt. Governor in 2022.
Kent said President Trump’s endorsement carries weight in Georgia.
The rally begins Saturday at 7 p.m.
