On a video posted to her website on December 31, 2018, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warrenannounced that she was launching an exploratory committee for a presidential run in 2020. In the video, Warren who had long been expected to run described her vision of defending the middle class, which she said was “under attack.”
After running an impressive campaign operation, having breakout moments, and even being labeled as a frontrunner at points, Warren officially ended her campaign on March 5 after a disappointing finish on Super Tuesday, including coming in third place in her home state of Massachusetts.

Following the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, seven Democrats asked the Senate Ethics Committee to investigate Cruz and Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., for amplifying claims of election fraud that led to violence. In Texas, the Republican Accountability Project paid for 100 billboards calling on Cruz to resign. Cruz also angered some close to him, like a longtime friend and former campaign chair who denounced him, and his chief spokesperson, who resigned, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Dropped Out: Governor Steve Bullock Of Montana
Bullock, the Democratic governor of Montana, announced he’s running for a president on May 14th, the 22nd Democratic contender and the third governor to join the field.
In an announcement video posted online Tuesday morning, Bullock highlighted his work passing bipartisan legislation to ban corporate money in Montana’s elections as governor.
Bullock argues he brings unique strength to the table as a Democratic governor who was re-elected the same year Trump won his state by 20 points and has since achieved progressive victories including expanding Medicaid and freezing university tuition in the spring 2019 Montana legislative session.
Sanford announced on September 8, 2019 that he would launch a primary challenge to Trump, which marked the third challenge from within the president’s party.
The former congressman lost a primary in 2018 after emerging as a vocal critic of Trump, who in turn encouraged voters to vote against him.
In a “Fox News Sunday” interview announcing the challenge, Sanford said he thinks “we need to have a conversation on what it means to be a Republican.”
“I think that as a Republican Party we have lost our way,” he added. After Stanford’s long-shot bid failed to gain any traction, he dropped out of the race on November 12.

There were 222 Democrats and 212 Republicans in the House there were 51 Republicans, 46 Democrats and two independents in the Senate. Several Republican members of the House and Senate said they would raise objections to the reported count in several states, meeting the requirement that if a member from each body objects, the two houses must meet separately to discuss whether to accept the certified state vote. A statement from the vice president’s office said Pence welcomes the plan by Republicans to “raise objections and bring forward evidence” challenging the election results.
On December 28, 2020, Representative Louie Gohmert filed a lawsuit in Texas challenging the constitutionality of the Electoral Count Act of 1887, claiming Vice President Pence has the power and ability to unilaterally decide which slates of electoral votes get counted. The case was dismissed on January 1, 2021, for lack of both standing and jurisdiction. The plaintiffs filed an appeal, and the appeal was dismissed by a three-judge panel of the appeals court the next day.

Buttigieg is the breakout star of the 2020 primaries. The mayor of a small city in Indiana, the 37-year-old was almost completely unknown one year ago. Now he is positioned as a potential leader among the next generation of Democrats openly gay, millennial and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan.
He has become respected as an intellectual he studied at Harvard and Oxford making him the antidote to Trump. His policy agenda is more specific than many of his rivals: he has endorsed a single-payer healthcare system , endorsed a Green New Deal for tackling climate change and taxes on the wealthiest.
He is currently polling fourth place and is unlikely to become the nominee. But his sway on the race may be critical: his moderate voters may likely to switch to Biden if he dropped out. He could also go into a future major race as a far more serious player on the back of this run.
Emboldened ‘unchanged’ Trump Looks To Re
The set of advisers around Trump now is a familiar mix of his top 2020 campaign aides and others who have moved in and out of his orbit over time. They include Miller, Susie Wiles, Bill Stepien, Justin Clark, Corey Lewandowski and Brad Parscale.
While his schedule isn’t set yet, according to Trump’s camp, his coming stops are likely to include efforts to help Ohio congressional candidate Max Miller, a former White House aide looking to win a primary against Rep. Anthony Gonzales, who voted to impeach Trump this year Jody Hice, who is trying to unseat fellow Republican Brad Raffensperger as Georgia secretary of state after Raffensperger defied Trump and validated the state’s electoral votes and Alabama Senate candidate Mo Brooks, according to Trump’s camp.
Trump’s ongoing influence with Republican voters helps explain why most GOP officeholders stick so closely to him. Republicans spared him a conviction in the Senate after the House impeached him for stoking the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, House GOP leaders have made it clear that they view his engagement as essential to their hopes of retaking the chamber, and Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was deposed as Republican Conference Chair this year over her repeated rebukes of Trump.
Those numbers suggest that Trump could be in a strong position to win a Republican primary but lose the general election in 3½ years. A former Trump campaign operative made that case while discussing Trump’s ambitions.
