Wallace, 72, is the only moderator from the 2016 election cycle to return to host a debate this time around. Its no secret why Wallace earned widespread praise for his role moderating the final debate between Trump and Clinton
Among other things, Wallace pressed Trump on a familiar theme this election cycle his refusal to commit to accept the results of the election, especially if they arent fully known immediately on election night.
There is a tradition in this county, in fact one of the prides of this country, is the peaceful transition of power, and that no matter how hard fought a campaign is, that at the end of the campaign the loser concedes to the winner, Wallace said to Trump during the 2016 debate. Are you saying youre not prepared now to commit to that principle?

While Wallace was unavailable to speak to the Inquirer, fellow Fox News anchor Bret Baier who has worked with Wallace over the years on a number of Republican and Democratic debates said he is uniquely qualified to kick off the 2020 presidential debate cycle.
Hes really good at this, Baier told The Inquirer. Debates are not town halls, debates are not Q& A sessions debates are an effort to get a substantive back-and-forth between the two candidates, and to create that dynamic where theyre going at each other over, ideally, substance.
Why Is Trump Back
His handlers say the rally is a continuation of President Trumps unprecedented effort to advance the MAGA agenda by energizing voters and highlighting America First candidates and causes. In Michigan, hes coming specifically to raise the profile of a couple of Republican candidates he has endorsed: Matthew DePerno, a lawyer who is running for the partys nomination for state attorney general, and Kristina Karamo, who is running for the nomination for secretary of state, the chief elections officer in Michigan.
Both candidates, by the way, have been strong supporters of Trumps unsupported claims that the 2020 election, including in Michigan, was corrupt and stolen from him.

The I-80 Speedway in Greenwood is about 36 miles southwest of Omaha.
The rally was originally scheduled for Friday, April 29, but was delayed due to severe weather. Supporters started lining up at 10 a.m. Friday, some of them opting to camp out at the site overnight Thursday.
I hope its not fake news that we had to make this decision, Herbster told the crowd already gathered for the event.
Thousands came out for the rescheduled rally on Sunday, and chanted USA as the former President took the stage.
An hour into making remarks, Trump mentioned why he was there to support Charles Herbster. He invited Herbster on stage with him.
I think Charles is going to do very well, and if he does, youll be very happy and youre gonna have an even more prosperous state, weve made it very prosperous, and I really think hes going to do just a fantastic job and if I didnt feel that, I wouldnt be here, Trump said.
The rally comes shortly after Herbstere was accused of sexual misconduct toward eight women, including Republican state senator Julie Slama.
Trump said Herbster has been put through the grinder unfairly.

Iowa National Democrats Criticize State Republicans For Supporting Trump After Jan 6 Riot
Iowa Democratic Party Chair Ross Wilburn criticized Iowa Republicans for supporting Trump after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in January.
Iowa Republicans have tied themselves to a man who attacked the foundations of our democracy throughout his time in office, Wilburn said in a statement. Just nine months ago, he incited a violent mob to attack his own Vice President and threaten the lives of lawmakers who were simply fulfilling their constitutional duty to certify our election.
A slew of Iowas top Republican leaders warmed up the crowd ahead of Trump, including Reynolds, Grassley and U.S. Reps. Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
Reynolds led the crowd in a chant of U.S.A. and criticized Biden on his immigration policies, mentioning that she visited the U.S.-Mexico border this week.
I was just there this week, she said. You know whos never been there? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They dont care. They dont care whats happening at the border.

Reynolds also mentioned Bidens COVID-19 response, eliciting boos from the crowd.
They dont respect you, she said of Democrats. They dont respect your faith, your values. They dont think youre capable of making your own decisions and they dont think you should. And this is what America looks like under democratic leadership but Im here to tell you were fighting back.

The big Republican rally with Donald Trump and Charles Herbster originally scheduled for Friday was canceled due to the severe weather.
The event in Greenwood is now planned to be rescheduled for Sunday at the same location I-80 Speedway 13909 238th Street, just outside of Greenwood, Nebraska.

Former President Trump is headed to Nevada and Alaska this weekend to stump for more Republican candidates.

On Friday, The New York Timesreported that the Department of Justice has decided against charging former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and former Trump social media director Dan Scavino with contempt of Congress.
The reason appears to be that both of them have cooperated with the investigation to a greater degree than other Trump allies who were charged with contempt, chiefly former strategists Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro.
Based on the individual facts and circumstances of their alleged contempt, my office will not be initiating prosecutions for criminal contempt as requested in the referral against Messrs. Meadows and Scavino, Matthew M. Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, wrote to Douglas N. Letter, the general counsel of the House, on Friday, reported Alan Feuer and Luke Broadwater. My offices review of each of the contempt referrals arising from the Jan. 6 committees investigation is complete.
Both Mr. Meadows and Mr. Scavino who were deeply involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 election engaged in weeks of negotiations with the committees lawyers, and Mr. Meadows turned over more than 9,000 documents to the panel, before the House voted to charge them with contempt, noted the report. By contrast, Mr. Navarro and his ally Stephen K. Bannon, who has also been charged with contempt, fought the committees subpoenas from Day 1 and never entered into negotiations.

Ultimately, when we heard Jeanine Pirro introducing Trump in the sketch at the start of the show, we actually thought that it would be Baldwin who was coming out. Yet, in the wake of the tragedy on the set of Rust, that just didnt feel right.
Instead of relying on another big name to come in and play the former President, SNL went for an in-house approach. Johnson recently played Joe Biden and now, hes taken on Trump, as well. While the Alec impression was perhaps goofier, Johnson completely nailed the voice and the cadence. He actually sounded almost identical to Trump to the point that it was disarming.
Ultimately, Trump isnt in the headlines as much as he once was, so were not sure how often well see him.
