Vance’s Chances Of Winning Senate Seat

Vance is leading his opponent Democratic Representative Tim Ryan by only 2.7 average percentage points, according to the latest poll by the RealClearPolitics.

An Emerson College/The Hill survey has a 4 point lead over Ryan in the Senate race. Vance’s lead is 1 point more compared to the previous survey in August.

“Independent voters favor JD Vance by a two-point margin, 51 percent of which name the economy as their most important issue,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said in a statement. “Additionally, a stark gender divide exists on the Senate ballot, reflective of other Senate polling this cycle. Men break for Vance by 19 points, whereas women break for Ryan by eight points.”

However, Ryan has a lead over Vance in fundraising as the Democrat’s campaign announced that it raised $9.1 million during the second quarter, compared to $2.3 million, during the same period that was reported by Vance’s campaign, Forbes reported earlier this month.

The Claim: Trump Is The Worst Jobs President In History

Millions of jobs were lost during Donald Trump’s presidency, according to a Nov. 1 Facebook post.

A chart posted to the Center for American Progress Action Fund page on Facebook showed negative job growth numbers for Trump compared with 12 of his predecessors. Trump is “the worst jobs president in history” with job losses totaling 4 million, according to the post’s caption.

Per the chart, Trump is the only president in the last 80 years to net job losses during his presidency. President George W. Bush is the runner-up with 1 million jobs added during his administration. Bush’s successor, Barack Obama, is credited with 12 million jobs.

The nation is in the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, according to USA TODAY. But several factors are responsible for historically low job growth. Jesse Lee, senior adviser at CAP, said Trump’s performance on jobs performance was rated accordingly.

“Yes, there are always multiple intersecting factors responsible for any number of economic indicators across the globe,” Lee told USA TODAY. “Every president faces tests, and every president is judged by his reaction to them.”

Two Different Paths To 41%

President Biden and former president Trump dont have a lot in common. But, they share the inauspicious distinction of having the lowest approval ratings in modern history for a president 500 days into his first term. The fivethirtyeight.com tracker has Bidens net approval rating at a dismal -13.3, two points lower than Trumps -11 in June of 2018.

But, the paths they took to these dismal ratings are very different.

Trump began his presidency with little support from independents and some skepticism among his own base. By the 2018 midterm election, Trump had consolidated his base, but remained deeply unpopular with independent voters. Meanwhile, Biden started his tenure with strong support from his partisans and decent approval ratings among independent voters. But, Biden lost altitude with both in the late summer/early fall of last year and has yet to regain that support.

The question now is whether the different routes their subpar approval ratings can tell us anything about the likely outcome of the November midterm.

However, opinions of Trump among independents started low and remained low throughout Trumps first two years in office. Gallup polling from the spring of 2017 found Trumps job approval ratings among independents at an anemic 36 percent. By the summer of 2018 they stayed in that same range . By October, just 38 percent of independents approved of the job Trump was doing in office.

Biden has also publicly said he plans to run for reelection. The super PAC supporting him, Unite The Country, is similarly gearing up in the five states the Trump campaign has focused on, first with an eye on the midterms and then the presidential race in 2024.

Steve Schale, CEO for Unite The Country, said he had no reason to doubt Fabrizios polling for Trump as Bidens poll numbers have dropped for months. But Schale noted that midterm polling a year out is hardly predictive of what happens in a presidential election in three years.

There are historical headwinds were facing, that any president faces during a midterm: five of the last seven midterm elections have been wave cycles for the other party, Schale said.

He recalled that then-President Barack Obama won reelection after Democrats were crushed in his first midterm election in 2010, and predicted that, if Republicans recapture Congress, they will veer too far right and damage Trumps chances in 2024.

Still, after Democrats were humbled in Virginias statewide races earlier this month, Schale issued a memo to donors saying it was a wake-up call for the party and pledged a seven-figure ad campaign to tout Bidens accomplishments in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The polling from Fabrizio suggests that Biden could use the help. On 10 different issues ranging from immigration to gun control to the economy, Trump bests Biden in the swing states, often by double digits, according to the poll.

The House Oversight Committee has asked the National Archives to conduct a review of materials to determine if White House materials are still missing, noting in a letter that the Archives has told lawmakers that its not sure whether all presidential records are in its custody. The opinion poll was conducted between June 10 and June 13, according to a Fox News report. This is days after the first January 6 hearing that was held on June 9.

The poll, which also highlighted that President Joe Biden has seen his popularity fall, showed the fluctuation in the former president’s popularity.

According to the poll, 55 percent of registered voters asked have an unfavorable opinion of Trump, compared to 44 percent holding a favorable opinion.

The poll also highlighted data taken from previous polls of the former president.

In February, 54 percent of registered voters held an unfavorable opinion of Trump, this is compared to 45 percent favorable. In December 2021, Trump received the same percentage of favorable and unfavorable votes.

According to the poll, the last time Trump held such a small favorable opinion vote of 44 percent was in late October 2020. In this poll, 55 percent of participants held an unfavorable opinion of him.

In June 2018, 45 percent of Fox News poll participants held a favorable opinion of Trump while 53 percent held an unfavorable opinion.

Oil Production And Imports

The increase in crude oil production that began under Obama continued under Trump, soaring to new record highs before COVID-19 contributed to a decline in 2020.

The 4.1 billion barrels produced last year were still more than in any year other than 2019, when nearly 4.5 billion barrels were produced, according to the Energy Information Administration. Even with the down year, crude oil production was up 27.6% in 2020 compared with 2016.

Increased domestic production under Trump led to fewer annual crude oil imports, which were down 25% in 2020 from four years earlier. The total number of imported crude oil barrels in 2020 2.15 billion was the lowest total since 1991.

However, while the U.S.again became a net exporter of petroleum products last year, it remained a net importer of crude oil, specifically, the EIA said.

If Lindsey Graham has to change cellphone numbers, he has Donald Trump to thank.

On Tuesday, Trump ramped up his attacks on the South Carolina senator who made headlines Monday for the Donald a jackass and even gave out Grahams private phone number.

Trump began his rambling diatribe by calling Graham a lightweight and an idiot.

He doesnt seem like a very bright guy. He actually probably seems to me not as bright as Rick Perry. I think Rick Perry probably is smarter than Lindsey Graham, Trump added, riffing on prior insults he had lobbed at the former Texas governor.

Then Trump transitioned to an embarrassing anecdote, which the billionaire real estate developer said was from a few years ago, in which Graham called Trump begging him for a good reference with Trumps pals on the Fox News morning program Fox & Friends.

Trump said that he promised Graham he would put out a good word, and the South Carolina Republican then gave him his phone number to follow up.

Trump then read out what he said was Grahams phone number, telling his supporters to try it.

I wonder what caused that, Graham told a POLITICO reporter who dialed the number, about the influx of calls.

The biggest beneficiaries of Trumps antics, Graham added, are President Barack Obama and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
