Nuclear Weapons And Economic Sanctions

Former President Trump speaks at rally in Washington Township

In early August 2017, intelligence experts confirmed that North Korea successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that fits inside its missiles, putting it one step closer to becoming a nuclear power. Around the same time, the North Korean state news agency said they were “examining the operational plan” to strike areas around the U.S. territory of Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic missiles.

U.S. experts estimated North Koreas nuclear warheads at 60 and that the country could soon have an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States. Trump responded that North Korea would be met with fire and fury if the threats continued and that the U.S. military was locked and loaded.

On August 15, Korean leader Kim Jong-un said hed “watch a little more the foolish and stupid conduct of the Yankees,” which Trump tweeted was a very wise and well reasoned decision. However on August 20, North Korea warned that the U.S. was risking an “uncontrollable phase of a nuclear war” by following through with military drills with South Korea.

On August 28, North Korea launched a missile over Japan. The following day, Trump said all options were on the table. At the United Nations General Assembly on September 19, Trump pejoratively called Kim Jong-un Rocketman and said he would totally destroy North Korea if it threatened the United States or its allies, hours after the group voted to enact additional sanctions against the country.

Peter Navarro Asks For 45

Wednesday 8 June 2022 21:17 , Oliver O’Connell

Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro has asked for a 45-day delay of his arraignment on criminal contempt of Congress charges.

In a letter addressed to the federal judge presiding over his prosecution, Mr Navarro said he is facing a number of hurdles in hiring a legal team to represent him.

Peter Navarro submits letter to DC judge asking to delay his arraignment 45 days …”To my knowledge, no high-ranking senior White House official has ever wound up in leg irons after simply standing up for constitutional principles”

Scott MacFarlane

Mr Navarro faces the charges for defying subpoenas from the House select committee investigating the 6 January 2021 attack on the US Capitol.

In his letter, he claimed prosecutors were pushing for a speedy trial as part of their strategy to exploit the unrepresented.

At his initial court appearance, he was represented by a public defender but said he may represent himself.

Mr Navarro is currently set to appear before Judge Amit Mehta on 17 June. If a 45-day delay is granted that would move his court date to the end of July or the beginning of August.

    Relationship With The News Media

Early into his presidency, Trump developed a highly contentious relationship with the news media, repeatedly referring to them as the “fake news media” and “the enemy of the people.” As a candidate, Trump had refused press credentials for offending publications but said he would not do so if elected. Trump both privately and publicly mused about taking away critical reporters’ White House press credentials. At the same time, the Trump White House gave temporary press passes to far-right pro-Trump fringe outlets, such as InfoWars and The Gateway Pundit, which are known for publishing hoaxes and conspiracy theories.

On his first day in office, Trump falsely accused journalists of understating the size of the crowd at his inauguration and called the news media “among the most dishonest human beings on earth.” Trump’s claims were notably defended by Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who claimed the inauguration crowd had been the biggest in history, a claim disproven by photographs. Trump’s senior adviser Kellyanne Conway then defended Spicer when asked about the falsehood, saying it was an “alternative fact,” not a falsehood.

The Trump Justice Department obtained by court order the 2017 phone logs or email metadata of reporters from CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, and Politico as part of investigations into leaks of classified information.

Former Congressman Mocks Fellow Republicans Fear At Us Border

Former Texas Republican Congressman Will Hurd has written that some of his GOP colleagues were fearful of visiting the US border and some towns in Mexico as they expected an environment similar to a warzone.

In his new book, American Reboot: An Idealists Guide to Getting Things Done, Mr Hurd writes that to correct misconceptions about the border, I brought congressional colleagues and administration officials down for tours of the border. Some were nervous when I took them into Mexico. Many were expecting the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, with shootouts in the streets like Black Hawk Down.

    Early Career And Congressional Campaigns

After graduating from law school in 1986, Pence was an attorney in private practice. In 1988, Pence ran for Congress against incumbent , but lost. He ran against Sharp again in 1990, quitting his job in order to work full-time in the campaign, but once again was unsuccessful. During the race, Pence used “political donations to pay the mortgage on his house, his personal credit card bill, groceries, golf tournament fees and car payments for his wife”. While the spending was not illegal at the time, it reportedly undermined his campaign.

During the 1990 campaign, Pence ran a television advertisement in which an actor, dressed in a robe and headdress and speaking in a thick Middle Eastern accent, thanked his opponent, Sharp, for doing nothing to wean the United States off imported oil as chairman of a House subcommittee on energy and power. In response to criticism, Pence’s campaign responded that the advertisement was not about Arabs rather, it concerned Sharp’s lack of leadership. In 1991, Pence wrote an essay, “Confessions of a Negative Campaigner”, published in the Indiana Policy Review, in which he apologized for running negative ads against Sharp. Pence vowed to refrain from using insulting speech or running ads that belittle his adversaries. Also taking place in 1991, he became the president of the , a self-described and a member of the , a position he held until 1993.
