No Donald Trump’s Parents Were Not Wearing Kkk Robes In Old Photo
Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is facing fallout from a recently surfaced photo that appears on his 1984 medical school yearbook page showing a person blackface standing next to someone dressed as a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Now, a not-so-convincing photographic attempt to paint Republican President Donald Trump as a literal descendant of the Klan is being shared online as well.
An old photograph spreading on social media makes it look like a younger Donald Trump is posing with his parents while they are donning white KKK robes.
A caption with the photo reads: “HE HASNT CHANGED YALL!!!”
The post was flagged as part of Facebooks efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed.

The image is not genuine, and a and a reverse image search brings up dozens of versions of the original, in which all three are wearing regular clothing without any Klan symbols.
While Trumps father, Fred Trump, was reportedly arrested in 1927 at a KKK rally in Queens, he was never formally charged or cited as a supporter or member.
But the photograph is clearly doctored, with the robes digitally inserted over the Trumps actual clothing.

Trump should be rather knowledgeable about the white supremacist organization however, as hes had a tricky past with the KKK before, beginning with his father, Fred Trump.
Trumps father was arrested in 1927 after a brawl broke out between KKK members and sympathizers of the Italian fascist movement in Queens, New York on Memorial Day, 1927. The Washington Post reported that 1,000 Klan members dressed in white robes marched through the city neighborhood, and seven men were arrested after the public rally turned violent Fred Trump, who lived in Jamaica, Queens at the time, was one of these men.
Of course, Donald Trump thinks none of this happened, and wants people to know that he denied it to the Daily Mail, saying, Its a completely false, ridiculous story. He was never there! It never happened. Never took place.
It remains unclear whether this will be the straw that breaks the camels back on Super Tuesday.

Fred Trump was born in 1905, making him 21 years old in May of 1927. He wasnt a naive 21 year old either. By the time he was halfway through high school, he already owned a construction business that built garages. Throughout his late teens, Trumps business increased, and he began constructing entire houses. Its safe to say that he wasnt the average 21 year old he was a mature business owner who was aware of the decisions that he made, including one to participate in a nativist, xenophobic Klan rally.

After a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, President Donald Trump privately rationalized why someone would join the KKK, suggesting the racist group doesn’t believe what it used to, a book published this week with insider details on the Trump White House claims.
In Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, author Michael Wolff wrote that when Trump finally addressed the August 2017 rallysaying “racism is evil” and that the KKK and other groups that cause violence around it “are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans”it was “a reluctant mini-grovel,” and the president “was clearly reading forced lines.”
After his KKK remarks, Trump got on Marine One and spewed his actual beliefs while traveling.
“Privately, he kept trying to rationalize why someone would be a member of the KKKthat is, they might not actually believe what the KKK believed, and the KKK probably does not believe what it used to believe,” Wolff wrote. “And, anyway, who really knows what the KKK believes now? In fact, he said, his own father was accused of being involved with the KKKnot true. .”
As Wolff notes, Trump’s father, Fred Trump, was arrested after a KKK riot in Queens, New York, in 1927.

For months, as Donald Trump developed his political repertoire, he adopted an uncharacteristic reply for questions about fascism and the Ku Klux Klan: silence, or something close to it.
He used the technique as early as last August, when his opponents, and the press, still generally regarded him as a summer amusement. On August 26th, the Bloomberg Television anchor John Heilemann brought up David Duke, the former Klan Grand Wizard, who had said that Trump was the best of the lot in the 2016 campaign. Trump replied that he had no idea who Duke was. Heilemann asked if Trump would repudiate Dukes endorsement. Sure, Trump said, if that would make you feel better, I would certainly repudiate. I dont know anything about him. Changing tack, Heilemann pressed Trump about an article in this magazine, which described Trumps broad support among neo-Nazis, white nationalists, and other members of the far right who were drawn in by his comments about Mexicans. Trump maintained a posture of indifference. Honestly, John, Id have to read the story. A lot of people like me. The interview moved on to other topics.
It should be noted that Trumps unfamiliarity with Duke is a recent condition. In 2000, Trump issued a statement that he was no longer considering a run for President with the backing of the Reform Party, partly because it now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke.

Speculation about the Trump familys connection to the KKK stems from the reported arrest of Donald Trumps father, Fred Trump, after a Klan riot took place in Queens, New York on Memorial Day of 1927. On June 1, 1927, a New York Times report on the riot included a list of prisoners arraigned, naming Fred Trump of 175-74 Devonshire Road in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens as one of them.

While Donald Trump deals with the fallout of allegations that hes not really as xenophobic as he appears, history shows that his connection to the Ku Klux Klan hits close to home.
The Washington Post reports that Trumps father, Fred, was arrested after a 1927 brawl lead by the Ku Klux Klan in Queens, New York. On Memorial Day, 1,000 Klansmen donned their robes and marched through the streets of the Jamaica neighborhood. The march turned into a riot, and Fred Trump and six others were arrested. The records dont indicate if Trump was one of the hooded Klansman, but he shared an attorney with the other men who were taken into custody.
Tech media outlet Boing Boing originally uncovered this report last September. Trump denied his fathers involvement, but the possible historical connection takes on new meaning in light of Trumps new, strange relationship with the Klan. Former KKK leader David Duke professed his support of Trumps campaign last Thursday . Trump tweeted a disavowal of Duke that he had previously issued at a press conference, yet he stumbled on CNNs State of the Union and said he knew nothing about David Duke and failed to outright condemn him or the Klan. He blamed the incident on a faulty earpiece that he said made it difficult to understand the interviewers questions.

Most of the national media studiously avoided printing that simple declarative sentence since Donald Trump decided to run for president. Most of the countrys politicians have remained strangely silent on the topic.
Public commentators did not connect the dots even as President-elect Trump attacked the civil rights hero, John Lewis, when having a Klan sympathizer for a father would seem to be highly pertinent in explaining his behavior.
After the website Boing Boing reported the story in 2015, Donald Trump denied it, and he has not publicly discussed it since then.
The NewYorkDailyNews, the WashingtonPost, the NewYorkTimes and a few other news outlets mentioned the connection briefly in 2016, and then they dropped it. Throughout the campaign, most of the media maintained a deafening silence, as did most of the nations politicians in both parties. If Fred Trump was a full-fledged Klansman, no one seemed interested in pursuing the story. A diligent researcher might have at least tried to find the commissioner report in the city archives. Journalists and politicians displayed the most determined zeal in investigating every aspect of Hillary Clintons email in 2016, and 20 years ago they showed the same zeal in investigating the Clintons investment in Whitewater.

In the fascist brawl, which took place in the Bronx, two Italian men were killed by anti-fascists. In Queens, 1,000 white-robed Klansmen marched through the Jamaica neighborhood, eventually spurring an all-out brawl in which seven men were arrested.
One of those arrested was Fred Trump of 175-24 Devonshire Rd. in Jamaica.
