Trumps Foreign Policy Moments
Donald J. Trumps presidency marked a profound departure from U.S. leadership in areas such as trade and diplomacy, as well as an across-the-board toughening of immigration policies.
In his inaugural address, President Donald J. Trump announces an America First approach to foreign policy and trade, which centers on reducing U.S. trade deficits and rebalancing burden sharing within alliances. Trump promises to unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism and emphasizes that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.
Trump directs the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a twelve-country, Asia-focused trade agreement the United States had championed under the Barack Obama administration.
The president signs an executive order banning nationals of six Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the United States for ninety days. The order, later amended to include an additional two countries, also indefinitely freezes refugee intake from Syria. Days later, a federal judge in Washington State blocks part of the order, beginning a series of judicial challenges. That same week, Trump signs two other executive orders concerning immigration. One directs federal funds to the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, and the other bars so-called sanctuary cities from receiving federal grants.
Donald Trump Memorabilia Is A Hot Commodity And Heres Why
Interest in political memorabilia usually heats up during a presidential election year, but really heats up with the kind of white-hot controversy that has engulfed this presidency, says Ron Puechner, national president of the American Political Items Collectors, a political memorabilia and historical collecting and preservation group.
Love him or hate him, demand for Trump memorabilia has shot up on both sides of the aisle, Puechner says.
Right now, because of the controversy and the number of people that are avid supporters, there probably is a somewhat inflated value, just because of how many people want something with his autograph on it, he said.
Last July, Utah-based conservative artist and Trump supporter Jon McNaughton helped the Arizona Republican Party raise money by donating for auction his iconic lithographs of the president. An original McNaughton portrait of Trump signed by both the president and the artist drew special interest.
Puechner says demand is growing for anti-Trump items. Those sell like hot cakes to a very different political group, he said.
Like with all else, the value of Trump memorabilia is in the eye of the beholder.
Last year for an exhibition in New York, artist Andres Serrano spent about $200,000 collecting more than 1,000 pieces of Trump memorabilia on eBay.

A Signed Copy Of An Old Don Jr Book
The special edition bundle also includes a signed copy of Liberal Privilege: Joe Biden and the Democrats Defense of the Indefensible by Donald Trump Jr. You can get a signed copy for as low as $44.99 on eBay and an unsigned copy for $29.99 on Winning Team Publishings website.
At first glance, it seems like Liberal Privilege might break some big news about Trumps plans for 2024. The description states:
Read about the countless liberal scandals, years of entrenched racism in the democrat party and decades of failed polices that will paint a stark picture of LIBERAL PRIVILEGE.
As President Donald J. Trump seeks a second term based on real accomplishments, learn about the facts the media refuses to cover.
But upon further investigation, this book was first published in August 28, 2020. Winning Team Publishing didnt update the blurb to clarify that this book is almost two years old, and Trumps first attempt to secure a second term failed.

Relationship With The Press
Trump began promoting himself in the press in the 1970s, and continued to seek media attention throughout his career, sustaining a “lovehate” relationship with the press. In the 2016 campaign, Trump benefited from a record amount of free media coverage, elevating his standing in the Republican primaries. The New York Times writer Amy Chozick wrote in 2018 that Trump’s media dominance enthralled the public and created “must-see TV.”
As a candidate and as president, Trump frequently accused the press of bias, calling it the “fake news media” and “the enemy of the people“. In 2018, journalist Lesley Stahl recounted Trump’s saying he intentionally demeaned and discredited the media “so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you”.
As president, Trump privately and publicly mused about revoking the press credentials of journalists he viewed as critical. His administration moved to revoke the press passes of two White House reporters, which were restored by the courts. In 2019, a member of the foreign press reported many of the same concerns as those of media in the U.S., expressing concern that a normalization process by reporters and media results in an inaccurate characterization of Trump. The Trump White House held about a hundred formal press briefings in 2017, declining by half during 2018 and to two in 2019.
Presidential Campaign And 2011 Hints At Presidential Run
In 2000, Trump ran in the California and Michigan primaries for nomination as the Reform Party candidate for the 2000 United States presidential election but withdrew from the race in February 2000. A July 1999 poll matching him against likely Republican nominee George W. Bush and likely Democratic nominee Al Gore showed Trump with seven percent support.
In 2011, Trump speculated about running against President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, making his first speaking appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February 2011 and giving speeches in early primary states. In May 2011, he announced he would not run, and he endorsed Mitt Romney in February 2012. Trump’s presidential ambitions were generally not taken seriously at the time.

Approval Ratings And Scholar Surveys
Trump was the only president to never reach a 50% approval rating in the Gallup poll dating to 1938. The approval ratings showed a record partisan gap: 88 percent among Republicans, 7 percent among Democrats. Until September 2020, the ratings were unusually stable, reaching a high of 49 percent and a low of 35 percent. Trump finished his term with a record-low approval rating of between 29 percent and 34 percent and a record-low average of 41 percent throughout his presidency.
In Gallup’s annual poll asking Americans to name the man they admire the most, Trump placed second to Obama in 2017 and 2018, tied with Obama for most admired man in 2019, and was named most admired in 2020. Since Gallup started conducting the poll in 1948, Trump is the first elected president not to be named most admired in his first year in office.

A Copy Of Our Journey Together That Looks Leather Bound But Probably Isnt
In a January appearance on Lou Dobbss podcast, Trump bragged that Our Journey Together had sold out its initial run of 240,000 copies. When compared to other presidents book sales this isnt impressive at all, but Trump claimed that he ran into supply-chain issues.
The publisher, the printer, who is one of the biggest in the country, I think he said he has eight plants, he said, Well, we have one problem: We cant get paper. We cant get ink. We cant get glue. We cant get leather for the covers, he said.
This remark was highly confusing, as it appears no animals were harmed in the making of the original edition on Our Journey Together. And while the special edition looks like it might be leather bound, Im going to bet that its some kind of plastic imitation. A genuine leather cover seems like it would be a key selling point, and yet the word leather does not appear anywhere in the description. Heres what Winning Team Publishing says about the special edition book:
Get your HAND SIGNED copy of Our Journey Together, a SPECIAL EDITION. Autographed by President Donald J. Trump, this photo book is sure to become a family treasure!
This SPECIAL EDITION features several new photos as well as President Trumps signature inside the book, not on a bookplate! Very few copies remain!

Not All Presidential Mementos Are Created Equal
The value of presidential memorabilia also depends on the president, according to Steve Ferber, vice president of Lori Ferber Presidential Collectibles in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Most living presidents dont command sky-high prices in todays memorabilia market, Ferber says. The reason? Simple supply and demand.
The most popular presidents are Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Teddy Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.
China trade deal signing:U.S., China sign Phase One trade agreement, signaling pause in trade war
Collectibles are valued based on demand and scarcity and right now there certainly is demand but certainly not scarcity, Ferber said, pointing out that Trump signs a lot of items while on the campaign trail.
Amateur collectors tend to overpay for these presidential collectibles, shelling out thousands for a Trump autograph when they shouldnt, Ferber says.
Sometimes we do see items signed by Donald Trump or by other presidents that people just assume that they must be worth a fortune, he said. We try to explain to them as best as we can and nicely as we can thats usually not the case, especially in the case of living presidents.
As with most things sold on these marketplaces, fakes are a problem. It is unknown whether any of the items purporting to be signed by the 45th president are genuine, but many probably arent, experts say.
Bottom line, people should steer away autographed political mementos, Puechner says.
The Value Of Donald Trump Merchandise
Hundreds of autographed Trump collectibles with high price tags are being hawked on eBay and other online marketplaces.
In December, a baseball signed by both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence sold for $4,999.99. The ball came with a certificate of authenticity, the eBay listing said. Also in December, a listing for original artwork said to be drawn and signed by Trump in 2000 sold for $4,200 plus a $100 shipping fee.
A seller in Rhode Island currently has an eBay listing for $100,000 of Trumps 1990 book Surviving at the Top, which is signed to Mom & Dad. A MAGA hat supposedly signed by Trump is going for $7,999.16.
Trump, a king of branding, seems irked that someone other than him is profiting from his name. This is, after all, a man who knows the value of merch and has put that knowledge to work on his campaign which has a brisk business in red hats, patriotic pins and Trump 2020 T-shirts.
Last year Rep. Peter King of New York took his 11-year-old granddaughter to the White House to watch the signing of a health care bill for first responders to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. King told The Atlantic Trump gave his granddaughter the signed speech with the admonition: If I find this on eBay tonight, Im coming after you.

Some silver scribbling has turned what would be a stock photo of Kim Jong-un and President Trump into gold, a memorabilia dealer claims.
The seemingly routine snapshot, taken by a British journalist covering the historic June 2018 US and North Korea summit in Singapore, became a $24,000 piece of history when the photog got both politicians to put their John Hancocks on it, dealer Gary Zimet of Moments in Time told The Post.
This is the only known autograph of Kim that has ever been for sale hes a legendary rarity, said Zimet, a longtime California memorabilia seller.
And while signed photos are a dime a dozen to have both Trump and Kim on the same one is iconic, he said.
Zimet said he is 1,000% sure the autographs are legit, saying they are a dead-on match to ones from both leaders that he examined during the authentication process.
Printed on 8-inch-by-10-inch glossy Tura photo paper, the image shows the leaders shaking hands, with Trump putting his mitt on his counterparts shoulder. Trumps recognizable, EKG-like autograph and Kims lesser-known signature are reputedly etched on their dark suits in silver marker.
The reclusive dictator isnt known for being generous with his autograph. Meanwhile, Trump is notorious for putting his name on everything from buildings to a CD of Elton Johns classic Rocket Man that he once sent to Kim.
Trump has referred to the North Korean leader as Little Rocket Man amid disputes over the countrys missile launches.
Trump’s Record Of Hate
Since Trump was sworn into office, our nations federal courts have halted his draconian and illegal executive actions from being implemented, while millions of people across the country have become more politically engaged, standing up against hate and bigotry.
But Trump is a bully and so is his administration. He will do everything in his power to tear back the progress made under former President Obama, including rolling back and undermining laws that help the LGBTQ+ community and other minority groups.
HRC will continue to stand up against Trump. We will join other civil rights organizations and remain vigilant in holding Trump and his administration accountable at every turn.
