“From March it was 45/53 so a majority of independents saying they had an unfavorable opinion of former President Trump,” she said. “In this poll, it was 48/49. So he’s evened out the edge that was there as a problem with independent voters in Iowa.”
The former president boasted about those numbers in an email to supporters this week.
And his political action committee recently hired a couple of Iowa advisers.
Kedron Bardwell, a political science professor at Simpson College, says Trump has mostly frozen the field for Republicans.
“It doesn’t mean they’re not testing the waters,” Bardwell said. “But I don’t think people want to go through the amount of work it would take to build the infrastructure and get, you know, the donations lined up, ready to go, if they know that in a few months, he’s just going to drop his hat in the ring anyway.”

The ticket confirmation email says event instructions will be sent out the day before the rally via email. The Alabama GOP said if you don’t receive your email, check your spam and junk folders.

Iowa National Democrats Criticize State Republicans For Supporting Trump After Jan 6 Riot
Iowa Democratic Party Chair Ross Wilburn criticized state Republicans for supporting Trump after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in January.
“Iowa Republicans have tied themselves to a man who attacked the foundations of our democracy throughout his time in office,” Wilburn said in a statement. “Just nine months ago, he incited a violent mob to attack his own Vice President and threaten the lives of lawmakers who were simply fulfilling their constitutional duty to certify our election.”
A slew of Iowa’s Republican leaders warmed up the crowd before Trump, including Reynolds, Grassley and U.S. Reps. Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
Reynolds led the crowd in a chant of “USA” and criticized Biden on his immigration policies, mentioning that she visited the U.S.-Mexican border this week.
“I was just there this week,” she said. “You know whos never been there? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They dont care. They dont care whats happening at the border.”
Vice President Kamala Harris visited the border in June.
Reynolds mentioned Biden’s COVID-19 response, eliciting boos from the crowd.
“They dont respect you,” she said of Democrats. “They dont respect your faith, your values. They dont think youre capable of making your own decisions, and they dont think you should. And this is what America looks like under Democratic leadership, but Im here to tell you were fighting back.”

Because of security concerns, there is a long list of banned items-
Protests: Groups including the League of United Latin American Citizens in Des Moines announced they will gather at 6:45 p.m. across 25th Street from the Knapp Center to protest, then convene at 7 p.m. in the nearby Patty and Fred Turner Jazz Center for a rally. The groups emphasized that the event will be peaceful and urged participants not to engage with Trump supporters.
Potential Republican presidential hopefuls, including Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Tim Scott, Sen. Tom Cotton, and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley have all hosted events in Iowa throughout the last year.
The president leaned hard into his record on farming, trade, and energy issues. Mr. Trump said Iowas senators, Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, are fighting to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Ernst is facing a potentially tough reelection bid, and her opponent raised nearly three times as much as she did during the third quarter.
According to a release from Trumps campaign team, the former president will welcome supporters at the Iowa State Fairgrounds starting at 7 p.m. The program includes live entertainment starting at 2 p.m.
Rep Moore Speaks On Upcoming Trump Rally
ENTERPRISE, Ala. —
Earlier this month, it was announced that former President Donald Trump will be in Cullman next weekend for a Save America rally.
One of his strongest supporters is 2nd Congressional District Congressman Barry Moore.
Tuesday in Enterprise he talked about the upcoming rally and whether the former president is gearing up for a potential run in 2024.
Moore says he believes the rally is more about freedoms in America.
Trump, I think in a lot of ways is trying to help win House seats so as he travels to these states and Senate seats, 2nd Congressional District Rep, Barry Moore added. Obviously, hes not up for election right now, so I think hes trying to build a base for Congress to get the gavel away from Nancy Pelosi maybe get a majority in the Senate, because hes always kind of fought for those candidates and I think thats more what hes doing right now.
Moore plans to attend the rally in Cullman on August 21st.

‘iowa What A Place’: Trump Gives Some Love To The Hawkeyes And Recalls His Victory
Despite his dark message about the Biden administration, Trump was upbeat about Iowa during his visit.
“As disastrous as the Biden administration has been, no one can blame the great state of Iowa, because, boy, we did really we did really good here,” he said. “Iowa, what a place.”
He took the stage shortly after the University of Iowa scored a come-from-behind victory against Penn State in a game displayed on large screens during the rally’s pre-program.
“Hello, Iowa, and congratulations to the Iowa Hawkeyes!” Trump said, kicking off his remarks. “That was a big win today!”
His appreciation for Iowa extended to Grassley, who he said “has my complete and total endorsement for reelection.”
“We have with us tonight a great American patriot, a man who truly loves Iowa loves Iowa,” Trump said. “Hes a young very young guy. Hes strong. And hes very handsome. He fights like no other. When Ive needed him for help he was always there.”
Though Gov. Kim Reynolds has not formally announced her reelection campaign, Trump hinted an endorsement could come very soon: “I said, ‘Kim, do you want me to endorse you tonight or later?’ And she said, ‘Sir, this is Chuck Grassleys night.’ How great is that?”

Time: The program starts at 5 p.m. CT. The event asks to arrive no later than 6:30 p.m.
Doors open: 2 p.m. CT

According to an email from the Donald Trump administration, entertainment, special guest speakers, food and beverages will be available throughout the day.
Parking will be available for $5 at the venue on a first come first serve basis. There are multiple offsite parking locations near the venue.
Guests will be screened by the Secret Service upon entry. Among prohibited items are: alcoholic beverages, backpacks, banners, signs, chairs, firearms, explosives, umbrellas and weapons, among others.
Masks are “highly encouraged” during the entry and screening process to the event.

Trump also called in to a pro-Youngkin rally last month in which the audience recited the Pledge of Allegiance to a flag said to have been from the Jan. 6 riot.
