Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Hit Seven Month High After Election Loss
President Donald Trump‘s approval rating reached a seven-month high in the wake of his election defeat to President-Elect Joe Biden and his ongoing refusal to concede the contest to his Democratic rival.
According to the FiveThirtyEight presidential approval rating tracker, Trump hit an average approval rating of 45 percent on Wednesday last weeka 5-point increase on his July low of around 40 percent.
At the same time, Trump’s November 11 disapproval rating stood at 52 percent, a fall of 4 points on July that put his net disapproval rating at 7 percentage points.
President Trump’s approval rating last reached 45 percent in was a little more than seven months ago, with his average backing reaching 45.4 percent on April 7, according to the FiveThirtyEight tracker.
However, his net disapproval rating was slightly better than it stood on Wednesday last week, with 49.7 percent saying they disapproved of the president’s performance on April 7giving the commander-in-chief a 5-point net disapproval rating.
Approval polling conducted by Rasmussen Reports on November 13 showed Trump had a net-positive approval rating of 5 percentage points. Fifty-two percent of those surveyed said they approved of Trump 10 days after Election Day, while 47 percent said they disapproved.
Trump Foreign Policies Receive Little Support
This analysis focuses on understanding the international image of the United States and worldwide confidence in U.S. President Donald Trump and approval of his signature foreign policies. Pew Research Center has been tracking views of the U.S. and confidence in the U.S. president over the past 20 years. The report also includes trend comparisons of confidence in Trump to his predecessors as well as other current world leaders .
For this report, we used data from a survey conducted across 33 countries from May 18 to Oct. 2, 2019, totaling 36,923 respondents. The surveys were conducted face-to-face across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and South Asia and on the phone in North America and the Asia-Pacific. Across Europe, the survey was conducted over the phone in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the UK, but face-to-face in Central and Eastern Europe, Italy, Ukraine and Russia. U.S. data and analysis are excluded from this report.

As has been the case throughout his presidency, U.S. President Donald Trump receives largely negative reviews from publics around the world. Across 32 countries surveyed by Pew Research Center, a median of 64% say they do not have confidence in Trump to do the right thing in world affairs, while just 29% express confidence in the American leader.

He asks his students if theres anything Trump could do to make them support him. And hes invariably met by a sea of shaking heads. If you went into Trumps presidency thinking hes a racist, sexist, xenophobic, immoral, narcissistic, corrupt, and incompetent person beliefs held by most Clinton voters then theres literally almost nothing he could do to change your mind, says Tesler.
The same is true in reverse. Donald Trump Has Become More Popular Since The January 6 Capitol Attack
Former President Donald Trump still manages to dominate the political headlines, nearly a year and half after leaving office. On Thursday, the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol used its first prime-time hearing to make the case that Trump used his power to try and overturn the 2020 election result.
The committee faces political headwinds, however. A majority of Americans now believe that Trump was either not or only partially responsible for the rioters who overtook the Capitol, according to a recent NBC News poll. Thats up from 47% in January 2021.

What Did The Data From The Survey Say
Trump’s 34 per cent approval rating is a point lower than his prior lowest rating which was recorded in 2017.
Trump has held an average of a 41 per cent approval rating throughout his four years in office which is “4 points lower than for any of his predecessors in the White House in Gallup’s polling era,” according to The Hill.
He is the first president to have failed to have passed a 50 per cent approval rating since Gallup began surveying presidential approval in 1938.
An ABC News-Ipsos poll revealed that the majority of Americans believe Trump should be removed from office.
Trump’s term ends January 20 at noon after President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.

The network has been roundly criticized for allowing the president to counter-program the Biden town hall, even though Mr. Trump refused to agree in the second scheduled debate, which would have been tonight. The Wall Street Journal reports more than 100 actors, writers and producers are protesting NBCs decision, and senior NBCUniversal executivesNBCUniversal News Group chairman Cesar Conde and NBCU chief executive Brian Roberts said the decision to give Mr. Trump such a platform after his refusal to debate Mr. Biden is enabling the presidents bad behavior while undercutting the Presidential Debate Commission and doing a disservice to the American public.

New Gallup poll gives Trump a 49% rating, first net positive for the president since January 2017
Donald Trumps popularity rating is improving at a key moment in election year boosting his chances of winning a second term in the White House.
As Bernie Sanders stormed to victory in the Nevada caucuses, establishing a grip on the Democratic primary, a new Gallup poll gave Trump a 49% approval rating and a disapproval rating of 48%. It was the first net positive for the president in the poll since the beginning of his presidency in January 2017.
The FiveThirtyEight website average of popularity polls shows Trumps approval rising since September, when impeachment proceedings began.
Acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial, Trumps average approval rating now stands at 43.3%, to 52.2% disapproving.
Regarding the Gallup poll, CNN analyst Harry Enten formerly of the Guardian wrote: Trumps approval rating is going up at the right time. become much more predictive by March of the election year.
Presidents with approval ratings between roughly 46% and 54% at this point usually face close re-election battles. Presidents with approval ratings at 45% or below usually lose. If past history holds, Trumps approval rating may continue to rise just enough to make him a favourite.
On Sunday, a CBS News poll said 65% of Americans think Trump will win re-election in a tight race against the eventual Democratic nominee.

Throughout four years of scandals and investigations, President Trump has maintained an approval rating that rarely budged from a 10-point band between 35 and 45 percent. Nothing he could say, do or tweet appeared to dramatically change public opinion of him.
But the events of Jan. 6 when a violent mob of Trump supporters incited by the president stormed the Capitol appear to have damaged him in his final days in office in a way that finally moved the needle.
Mr. Trump is set to depart office on Wednesday with an approval rating of 29 percent, the lowest of his presidency, according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center.
About 75 percent of the public said Mr. Trump bore some responsibility for the violence and destruction of Jan. 6, which put the lives of the vice president and members of Congress at risk and resulted in five deaths, according to the survey.
And his behavior since the election a period during which he has repeatedly tried to contest his loss, relied on conspiracy theorists for advice, encouraged supporters who do not view President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. as legitimate, and refused to concede has cost Mr. Trump support even with those individuals who have loyally supported him up until now.
According to Pew, the share of his supporters who described his conduct as poor has doubled, to 20 percent from 10 percent, over the past two months.

Polls Show Bidens Approval Rating Sliding To New Lows
The new president had spent his first half-year in the White House with high job ratings.

President Joe Bidens honeymoon with the American people is over.
As many Americans disapprove of Bidens job performance as approve, according to two new polls out Sunday a precipitous decline for the new president after he spent his first half-year in the White House with high job ratings.
Half of Americans, 50 percent, approve of the way Biden is handling his job as president in the CBS News poll but the same number, 50 percent, disapprove of Biden. In the NBC News poll, Bidens approval rating is 49 percent, compared to 48 percent disapproval.
Both polls show declines in views of Biden, whose presidency has been besieged by twin crises in recent weeks: a resurgence of the coronavirus domestically, and the rocky withdrawal of U.S. military personnel and other Americans from Afghanistan ahead of Bidens looming deadline. Bidens approval rating slid 8 points in the CBS poll since July, and its down 4 points since the last NBC News survey, in April.
But Bidens slide is troubling news for Democrats, who have only narrow majorities in Congress that are increasingly imperiled in next years midterm elections.

A Key Question Moving Forward: Is Trumps Grip On The Gop Stronger Than His Bases
An odd fight broke out earlier this week that may well have escaped your notice. A former senior member of Donald Trumps administration released the results of polling arguing that the former presidents grip on the Republican base has weakened. Trump and his team pushed back hard, but that was largely ignored because of the release of the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial and Trumps diminished voice in the public sphere.
The argument made by a super PAC associated with former national security adviser John Bolton centered on the extent to which Republican voters were still likely to follow Trumps political lead. The desired outcome here is obvious: Bolton, who became a vocal Trump critic, wants to suggest to Republicans that the political cost of bucking Trump has faded. Ergo, the poll.
It centered on three points: that Trumps favorability has fallen, that his endorsement isnt critical and that many Republicans dont plan to support him in a possible 2024 bid. Each of those arguments, though, isnt very strong. The favorability drop compares two polls and shows a small shift from very favorable views to somewhat favorable. The endorsement point leverages a format would you be more or less likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Trump, etc. that is notoriously iffy.
The 2024 polling still shows Trump at 50 percent among Republican voters, 39 points above the second-place contender. Not exactly a weak position in a crowded field.
How Do Americans View Bidens Handling Of The Pandemic And The Economy
Most Americans think Biden is handling the coronavirus pandemic far better than Trump. Sixty-two percent approve of how Biden has managed the U.S. response so far. Another 30 percent say they disapprove.

The publics approval of Bidens actions far exceeds that earned by Trumps leadership during the pandemic. His highest approval rating was 18 points lower, at 44 percent in March 2020, the same month the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic and Trump labeled it a public health emergency. From there, his approval on handling the pandemic dropped as low as 37 percent, recovering slightly to 39 percent by the time he left office in January.
But Americans have less faith in Bidens ability to heal the nations wounded economy compared to Trump. While 46 percent of U.S. adults approve of how Biden has managed the economy, another 41 percent do not approve. During Trumps last days in office, half of Americans said they approved of the former presidents handling of the economy, a sentiment thatTrump leveraged throughout his presidency and in his 2020 campaign for a second term.
Keanu Adams, 25, of Vacaville, California, said he voted for Biden and hopes the president recognizes the country needs more than public health and economic fixes right now.
The nation needs to uproot systemic problems to address what is really wrong, Adams said.

Facing heat from several quarters, US President Joe Bidens popularity has dipped spectacularly. Now, his approval ratings have taken a tumble as well. Reportedly, Bidens current approval ratings fare lower than what his infamous predecessor, Donald Trump, ever managed to achieve during his four tumultuous years in the office, where he was impeached twice.
The poll conducted by CNN shows that Bidens approval rating stood at 38 per cent while 62 per cent disapproved of his presidentship. On the economic front, Biden has an approval rating of only 30 per cent. The figures become grim when one notes that Trumps lowest economic approval rating was 41 per cent which came way back in 2018.
Moreover, ahead of the midterms, the swing states havent been kind to Biden either. His net approval ratings in Ohio , Arizona , Wisconsin and Pennsylvania paint a grim picture and suggest that the battle may be uphill.
Democrats starting to lose confidence
While the palpable public anger is understandable, it appears that Biden is also losing the confidence of his colleagues. Reportedly, the Presidents approval rating for the handling of the economy has dwindled from 71 per cent, earlier this year to 62 per cent amongst the Democrats in the recent survey.

WASHINGTON New York City Democratic House candidate Suraj Patel has tested positive for COVID-19, he confirmed in a new statement Monday.
Patel, one of the candidates featured in a recent MTP Blog story about how the new social distancing guidelines and the threat of coronavirus has fundamentally upended House campaigns, disclosed his positive test in a new statement posted on social media and on the blogging platform Medium.
He said he began developing symptoms earlier this month which he described as troubling tightness in my chest and difficulty breathing followed by a regular fever of 102 degrees. Patel lives with two doctors, one of whom is his brother, which he said underscored the need for him to test to see if had COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, so that his roommates would know whether they were at risk.
Patel said that ultimately, he and his two housemates all tested positive. But hes now fully recovered and asymptomatic.
New Yorkers and Americans at large are stepping up in a tremendous unified way. We know how important it is to our most vulnerable populations that we slow the growth of this COVID epidemic. But as this becomes less abstract and more personal when peoples loved ones start to show symptoms human nature is such that we are going to want certainty and safety, Patel wrote, before calling for universal COVID testing.
Patel is running in the Democratic primary against longtime Rep. Carolyn Maloney.
