New Poll Shows President Donald Trump More Popular Than Joe Biden
In the earlier days of Joe Bidens presidency, as his approval numbers started to dip, though not as catastrophically as they have no, we were constantly reminded that at least he wasnt polling as badly as his predecessor. Well, thats no longer the case when it comes to a a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll which was shared with The Hill on Monday.
As Max Greenwood reported for the outlet, 48 percent of respondents have a favorable view of Trump while 46 percent have a favorable view of Biden. Further, 49 percent have an unfavorable view of Biden, while 47 percent have an unfavorable view of Trump. Voters also say the Trump was a better president than Biden has been, by 51 percent to 49 percent.
The poll was conducted September 15-16 with 1,578 registered voters.
Greenwood called it a remarkable shift for Biden, and sure enough went on to note that the president repeatedly outperformed Trumps favorability numbers throughout the early months of his presidency.

The mounting issues on all fronts have led to the surprise conclusion that Trump is now seen as good a president as Biden, suggesting the honeymoon is being replaced now with buyers remorse, , the co-director of the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey, said.
Since Trump lost the popular vote by 5 points, Trump getting 51 percent as a better president is actually an improvement from Election Day.

- The latest survey found that 58% of voters disapprove of Bidens job performance and 39% approve. It marks the 46th presidents lowest approval rating and highest disapproval rating in 62 weekly surveys conducted since he took office in January 2021.
- For comparison, Bidens latest numbers are worse than Donald Trumps were at this time four years ago, when 45% approved and 52% disapproved of the former president. Among modern departing presidents, Trump is hardly the least popular, according to Gallups Presidential Job Approval Center.
Trump notched an approval rating of 34 percent in Gallups final poll of his presidency just like George W. Bush in 2009 and Jimmy Carter in 1981, and two points better than the 32 percent scored by Harry Truman as he left office in 1953.
But Trump never came close to Richard Nixons dismal 24 percent approval rating in the final week of his presidency, just before he resigned in 1974 to dodge impeachment over the Watergate scandal.
After his downfall, Nixon made a concerted effort to refurbish his reputation. He lived in near-seclusion for four years, then launched a highly scripted comeback campaign that began with a state dinner at Carters White House and segued into off-the-record evenings with influential newspaper columnists and publishers to get back in the medias good graces.
Behind the scenes, Nixon cultivated relationships with Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Alter said. Thats just not going to happen with Trump who has burned too many political bridges to repair.
The political calendar may also have favored Nixons rehab program.
In 1981, less than a decade after his resignation, the Washington Post Nixons onetime nemesis began praising his redemption and lauding him as a peacemaker.

Trump Has More Support Than Ever
Trump had a 47.3 per cent average approval rating, according to an aggregate of surveys compiled by the website Real Clear Politics. The closest he’s ever come to 50 per cent support was right after his inauguration in 2017.
Some surveys even show him with more public approval than disapproval for the first time, though most don’t.

Americans tend to view presidents more favorably in retrospect than they do while in office, Gallup polling has shown.
In addition to leaving office, another factor has kept Trump from a continuous spotlight: Social media giants Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have all banned the former president from posting on their platforms, a decision they enacted shortly after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in January. Karen Moon, a 32-year-old Indianola resident and poll respondent, said she was never a fan of Trumps public persona.

Just days after becoming the first president to be impeached twice, Trump on Monday became the least popular president Gallup has ever polled. Trump finished his term with an approval rating of 34 percent, Gallup announced, bringing his four-year polling average down to 41 percent, four points lower than any of his predecessors dating back to 1938. German Chancellor Angela Merkel receives the highest marks among the five leaders tested on the poll: A median of 46% express confidence in her leadership of world affairs, while 29% say they do not have confidence in the long-serving German leader. Views of Merkel vary widely within Europe. While roughly seven-in-ten or more have confidence in her in Sweden, the Netherlands, France, the UK, Germany and Spain, only 28% of Hungarians, 25% of Czechs and 22% of Greeks say the same.
Relatively few express confidence in Russian President Putin or Chinese President Xi. And U.S. President Trump receives more negative ratings than either the Russian or Chinese leader.
